Chapter 30 Music, Prison, & Gone (Final Mix, Missing Link, & The Chips are Down)
A.N. – Okay, so I couldn't think of a creative title for this chapter, so I just used a word the describes the three episodes best. This only happens when I can't think of a title.
Short Summary (Final Mix) – Aelita finds success as a mixer, and Xana tries to isolate her from her friends by eliminating the one that informs them, Jeremy.
Short Summary (Missing Link) – Xana and A try to get Aelita to sacrifice herself for Yumi by targeting her with the Scyphozoa. If it succeeds, Xana can get what he wants at will.
Short Summary (The Chips are Down) – After Yumi announces she might be leaving for good; Ulrich takes desperate measures to save her, but at the risk of raising Xana's power.

Final Mix
Xana and A were looking over the reason why the Lyoko Warriors were always able to stop their attacks. And only one thing came to mind, Jeremy.
"He is too much of a threat to have around" Xana mentions.
"If you're thinking of killing him, I'm taking you down with him" A reminds him.
"No, something more subtle. If we can just keep him from telling the others and then isolate Aelita. Hopefully, by the time they find out, the keys will be mine."
"It's a little too hopeful. He may be feeble, but he makes up for it with the brain power."
"Then our next host should be a strong person. Someone who can subdue him."
"And then?"
"We tie him up. He can't move, can't call. We grab Aelita, my host virtualizes her, and then her memory will be mine."
"I'll head back to Earth. See what's happening and if you can use it."
A left Lyoko to see what was new.
A sees the group, as it was early in the morning. She couldn't tell the time in Lyoko. For all she knew, she was going to arrive at midnight. "So, any new developments?"
"Besides the science exam in a half hour, no" Ulrich answers.
"Well, Ulrich wasn't there, but I was and Aelita is an expert mixer. Almost sounds like she's a professional" Odd says.
"Oh really," A says as she remembers the time she opened for the Subdigitals. She knew it was her father who taught her how to play music as he explained it was almost like math. Aelita, being as brilliant as she was, was able to make the perfect mix by sliding the right knob. "Are you sure it wasn't luck?"
"If it was, well it was big. She's going to be DJing tonight."
"Tonight huh?" A suddenly had an idea.
"You gonna be there?"
"Maybe." The bell rings. "Looks like you guys got to get going."
As the group heads for their exam, A returns to Lyoko.
As she appeared in the mountain sector, Xana appeared to. "Any news?"
"There is going to be a music party tonight. Aelita is DJing. She'll be alone on stage. If you can think of something, you can get her."
"I think I got the perfect host for tonight."
With a plan now set, all they had to do was wait.
It was now night and A arrived to oversee everything. She began to wonder who Xana possessed to help out. She was also informed that Jeremy was going to be subdued as well. Aelita was going on and started playing a mix. A was always the one playing, but now she was listening. She was impressed with how talented she was in the past, even with no recollection of her past. She sees Jim walk in and his eyes flash the sign of Xana. She nods at him, and he uses a small bolt of electricity to travel across the ceiling and over to Aelita which knocked her out. Jim walked over to her.
"Everything's alright, she just fainted. I'll take her to the infirmary. Go on with your party" Jim picks her up.
"You got to work with your human speaking skills" A whispers to him.
"It worked, so we take advantage of the opportunity" Xana tells her.
After a few minutes passed, the rest of the group, along with Jeremy, arrived. They didn't see Aelita, but they saw A in the back. "A, where's Aelita?" Jermey asked.
"She fainted, so Jim took her to the infirmary" A responds.
"Oh no. Xana has her. We got to move."
All of them, including A, headed off. "What's happening?"
"Xana has possessed Jim. He tied me up and he went after Aelita."
"We're not going to blame you for not stopping him. We all just learned" Yumi adds.
"Are you sure Jim can virtualize Aelita to Lyoko?" Ulrich asks.
"Under Xana's control, he can do anything" Jeremy responds.
The five arrive at the factory and jump down to see Jim arriving in the elevator. "Jeremy, go with the girls and virtualize them to protect Aelita. Me and Odd will handle Jim."
The three head to the corridor that will take them to the boiler room access to the laboratory. Yumi and A were in the scanners, just as the guys arrived. "We were about to start without you" A said.
"Alright all of you are going in. Aelita is in the desert sector," Jermey says as he virtualizes all of them. A was last to virtualize and she arrives seconds before the hornets arrive. "Be careful, you got company."
"A, you and me" Odd says to her.
"Right" A responds.
"Yumi, you and I will go rescue Aelita" Ulrich tells her.
"Hurry. If the Scyphozoa gets there, Aelita will be done for" Jeremy informs them.
As the hornets approach, A takes flight and Odd takes aim, destroying one. The remaining hornets fire lasers and Odd and A dodge. Odd takes off. Aelita tries to dive bomb a hornet, but it hits her wings, and she falls face first on the ground.
"Be careful A, that was a twenty-point impact" Jeremy tells her.
A slowly gets up as the hornets head to the crater. "Jeremy, they're going to the crater."
Odd pulls up next to her. "It's time someone gave you a lift" Odd tells her as he is riding his Overboard.
"I wouldn't object" A says as she steps on behind. Odd takes off.
"A, be ready. We're going to drop on them."
As Odd flies over the side, Aelita fires. "Energy field!" One of her orbs hits the hornet and it's destroyed. Another hornet fires at the Overboard and it devirtualizes. A falls and looks knocked out. A hornet goes over to her.
"Hey ugly!" Ulrich calls out as he rides to it. He slashes at it before another one devirtualizes her.
"Ulrich, save Aelita," A says as she disappears. She reappears in the scanners. "I keep forgetting how rough that is."
A comes up to see Jim on the supercomputer. "Hey!" Jim turns towards her. "I can't let you do what you're gonna do."
Xana fires electricity at her. "You can't stop me now. Her memory is almost mine." With A knocked out, Jim starts torturing Jeremy with electricity. "You just don't give up do you? Well this will help you reconsider."
When A regained consciousness, she saw Jim was no longer Xanafied.
"What am I doing here?" Jim asks, clearly confused.
"You'll never know Jim" Jeremy responds as he presses enter. "Return to the past now!"
Time is reversed and Xana's power grows. A decided to go to the concert that following night and was impressed by her current self's ability to perform. Even though she has no memory of her past, but her future looked bright.
Missing Link
A was waiting in the forest sector after receiving a message from Jeremy about a sector five mission. Before this mission began, Xana and she discussed how to try to get Aelita's memory. Xana decided to try a method called an open mind. The only way he could achieve this was if she were to lose her DNA sequence code. So, instead of attacking her, Xana would attack one of the others. "What's going on over there? Are you aborting the mission?" A asks, clearly annoyed at what's holding them up.
"We're waiting for Yumi. I don't know what's keeping her" Jeremy informs her.
"There will be three of us to defend Aelita. We can manage without her."
"I guess. Ok, you three are going in. If Yumi arrives, I'll virtualize her immediately." Jeremy virtualizes Ulrich, Odd, and Aelita in A's spot. "Hold up guys. Yumi just arrived. I'll virtualize her." A minute later, Yumi lands in the sector.
"Where were you?" Ulrich asks.
"I had something to do" Yumi answers vaguely.
"Yeah right, like being with William."
"Huh? Don't you get tired of being jealous all the time?"
"Jealouly 101. If you weren't, you wouldn't care where she was" A says.
"Hey, don't you get involved" Ulrich says to her.
"If you think I would be with William, which I wasn't, it would be just as friends. Yes, he wants me, but I don't want him."
"If you guys want to fight, then fight the monsters Xana has sent you" Jeremy tells them, and they turn their attention to them. Three kankerlots approach them. The more of them destroy, the more that appear.
"Persistent little bugs" A states.
"What do you expect? Xana hates it when we go fishing in sector five" Jeremy responds. Suddenly, the Scyphozoa appears, but goes after Yumi and not Aelita. "Oh no! The Scyphozoa!"
"Yumi!" Ulrich rushes up to the monster and slashes it's tentacles, releasing Yumi. Ulrich catches her as she drops. "Yumi, are you okay?"
"I don't know. I feel kind of funny" Yumi responds.
'Guess Xana got what he wanted. Now we wait to see if Aelita takes the bait' A thinks to herself.
"We'll abort the mission. Something about that didn't feel right" Jeremy informs them. He materializes Odd, Ulrich, and Aelita. But for some reason, Yumi cannot.
"Why are you still here?" A asks.
"I don't know. Jeremy?" Yumi asks.
"Yumi, for some reason, I can't devirtualize you" Jeremy says to the three.
A is with Yumi in the tower. "I'll find out what happened to you Yumi. You'll be safe in the tower" Jeremy says.
"It's not Xana I'm worried about. It's the principal. I'll be suspended if I miss the class photo" Yumi responds.
"What kind of rule is that? Suspension for missing a photo shoot with an unexcused absence. What happens if you don't call in time?" A asks, knowing that Kadic's rules were a little too drastic to keep students in line. "You guys better try to find a way to cover for her until we find a solution."
A few minutes later, Jeremy finds a way to see what the Scyphozoa did to her. "Yumi, I'm going to give you a digital analysis," Jeremy says. "Oh no! I don't believe it!"
"What's the matter?" Yumi asks.
"The Scyphozoa stole the sequence code for your human DNA."
"Oh, what's that?"
"The thing that allows you to exist and not break down into nothingness. Since your virtual body is an avatar and digital in structure, you have no molecular or physical body here. Since you have none, you can't reappear because you having nothing to reassemble you. If we could, you would just be scattered atoms" A informs her.
"I understand. No DNA, no go home."
"Exactly."
A while later, Aelita appears in the tower with a solution. She pulls up an interface and sets up a program. "There. Process launched" Aelita says.
"What process?" Yumi asks her.
"The process of transferring my DNA sequence code to your virtual structure."
"What?! Are you crazy!?" Jeremy questions her.
"Jeremy, Yumi's place is on Earth. If anyone should stay here until we a solution, it should be me." Aelita cuts him off before he can respond.
"You know you're making a big sacrifice Aelita" Yumi tells her.
"Call it whatever you want to." Aelita starts the process.
A contacts Xana at this point. "Plan is a success. She took the bait. Be ready" she whispers as she watches the process unfold.
With the transfer almost complete, Ulrich and Odd come rushing. 'Great, interference' A thinks. "Fallback, plan is a no go" A whispers.
"Aelita, stop!" Odd tells her.
"If the transfer completes, Xana will be able to steal your memory at will!" Ulrich explains next.
Aelita stops the process and re-establishes communications with Jeremy. "I'm sorry, I thought I was doing the right thing" Aelita explains.
"Yeah, but we still have no way to save Yumi."
"Don't bank on that. I just had a brilliant idea. If Xana stole something, then it must be in his memory and how do we get access to his memory?" Jeremy asks.
"Sector five!" All of them respond.
With this they all head to the edge of the sector.
The transporter arrives in the arena and drops them off. "By the way Yumi, without your sequence code, you're just as vulnerable as Aelita. If you get devirtualized, you'll disappear forever" Jeremy informs her as the wall opens.
The hallway opens into the core zone and the countdown begins. "Come on, 3 minutes to find the key" A tells them. They spot the key on the other side of the room. The only way to reach it is to cross the platform. Odd is about to go when A stops him. "Stop! Let me go."
"Why?" Odd asks.
"See those pillars. They'll drop once they detect movement below. I'm the only one who can fly and avoid them." A activates her wings and flies away from the pillars and lands next to the key. She pushes it and the wall opens. "The ceiling should be fine now." The others come across safely, with no threat. The five of them all jump onto the elevator and gain access to the celestial dome. Aelita goes up to the interface.
"Aelita do you know where Yumi's sequence code is?" Jeremy asks.
"Not really, but I'll find it" she responds, searching.
The others wait for the flying mantas to appear. As this goes on, Ulrich apologizes to Yumi. "Uh Yumi, I wanted to apologize for this morning. It was none of my business what you were doing."
"That's true, but I'll tell you anyway. I was buying two tickets to the Subsonics concert. And it wasn't easy. Bad internet connection" she responds.
"Hate to interrupt the heartfelt moment, but we have visitors" A says as she points to the flying mantas.
The three of them defend Aelita and Yumi, when Aelita finds something. "That's it! I got it! I'm sending it to you now Jeremy!" Aelita says as she transfers the data.
"Okay Yumi, I got it. I'll download back to you in a second" Jeremy informs her.
"I'm going to be really happy to go ho-" Yumi is hit and devirtualized. Ulrich jumps onto the manta's back and destroys it as retaliation for blasting away Yumi.
The rest of them leave. A is about to head back to the mountain sector when Jeremy contacts her. "A, Yumi is back. The mission was a success" Jeremy informs her.
"That's great news. Now, I suggest we all take a break. This was a stressful day" A says.
As A appears, so does Xana. "That was a complete failure" Xana comments.
"It was almost a success. If those two didn't show up…" A responds.
"You could've blasted them away."
"The only reason I'm as close to them now as possible is because they trust me. If I shatter that trust at any time, we might never get the keys. You'll get them, one way or another. And if it comes down to it, I'll make sure you get them, just like you got her memories."
"You're a valuable asset and a great annoyance at some points. Do what you must, but when the time comes for a perfect opportunity, remember you're helping me."
Xana disappears and A retreats. She didn't want to help Xana escape and begin taking over the world. But in order to save everyone, some sacrifices on a personal level have to be made.
The Chips are Down
After two failed attempts to get Aelita's memory, A and Xana are lost on new ways to do it. Xana said he may have some way of slowing the warriors down, but it would be the next attack. A just arrived and saw the group, except Ulrich, gathered around Yumi. Justas she walks up, they disperse, and Ulrich is left confused. "You know what that was about?" A asks.
"I was hoping you knew" Ulrich responds.
A returned back to the woods and couldn't remember this point in time. She opened her laptop and opened Jeremy's diary. She found the entry for that day.
"Yumi announced that she was possibly moving away, due to her father's position becoming unavailable and lack of work due to his field being overcrowded. This devastated Urich and caused him to launch a return to the past in order to try to save her. He failed but Xana succeeded at getting stronger" Jermy explains.
"Oh, this could be bad" A states, trying to keep Xana's power at a minimum.
A was waiting for Ulrich and he arrived at night. "What are you doing here?" He asks, walking in.
"I think I should be asking you that question" A responds.
"This doesn't involve you!"
"Well, acting suspiciously around here without Jeremy's permission or no Xana attack."
"Oh and losing Yumi is a better option?"
"You think money is the problem? Money is temporary. For Yumi to stay, her father would need a job."
"Well, I got a solution, at least to help for a while so he can have tine to find a job." He walks up to the supercomputer. A grabs his arm.
"Think about what you're doing here! Don't let your emotions and personal feelings for Yumi cloud your judgement!"
"What do you know about me and Yumi!?"
"I know more about than you two than you think!"
"Doesn't matter." He reads Jeremy's notes and starts up the return to the past program.
"Better prepare a believable apology because everyone will know. You can't hide this action."
Ulrich glances at her, before pressing enter and resetting time.
Jeremy and Aelita are at the factory the following day checking on the program.
"I don't get it. Xana had nothing to do with it. It's as if someone set off the return to the past from here, except I'm the only one who knows how to do it" Jeremy explains.
"Well, you aren't the only one" A says coming in.
"Don't tell me you did it."
"No, but I know who did."
"Who?"
"Think. Who's the one person who was in total distress the other day."
"You don't think-" Aelita starts.
"You're right" A responds. She had to sell out Ulrich, but Jeremy would have found it out anyway.
A was in the desert sector, waiting for the rest of the warriors to arrive. She looks to her left and sees twenty krabs assembling. "A lot of monsters will slow us down, but that doesn't make much of a difference." A didn't know what else Xana was planning.
A few minutes later the rest of the warriors arrived. They all started heading towards the tower. As the four travel, Aelita notices a krab. "Look over there, a krab" Aelita says. They all turn to see the horde of them.
"Are my eyes playing tricks on me or are there at least twenty of them?" Yumi questions what she sees.
"There are no mirages on Lyoko Yumi."
Suddenly, there's a maniacal laughter heard over the speaker. "Jeremy, was that you?"
"That isn't Jeremy. I recognize that laugh anywhere. It's Nicolas" Odd answers.
"Nicolas? Are you sure?"
"Nobody else has a laugh that dumb, not in the whole universe."
The krabs notice them and start firing. One hits Yumi and she falls off her Overwing and she lands violently on the ground. But instead of quickly recovering, she seems seriously injured. "I don't understand why it hurts so much. Shouldn't I just have lost some life points?"
'Fatal wounds. This is gonna be a nightmare' A thinks.
The four are hiding behind a rock as the krabs approach. "I'll go check it out" Odd says as he climbs up and is shot down. "Wow, that really does hurt."
"My turn," Aelita says as she goes up and creates a sand wall to temporarily delay the krabs. "That won't hold them for long."
"There is still the issue of getting through them all" A says.
"What we need is Jeremy" Odd says.
A few minutes later, Ulrich comes in the speaker. "Odd, A, Aelita, Yumi, can you hear me? Answer me, will you?"
"Ulrich, is that you?" Yumi asks.
"Oh great, you're alive."
"Yeah, but not in great shape" Odd adds.
"What about Jeremy?" Aelita asks.
"He's also in pretty bad shape" Ulrich responds.
Suddenly a noise is heard as the krabs break through the sand wall. "That's just what I was afraid of. The krabs have broken through" Aelita notices.
The four decide to move again. Yumi is hit again but this time she is able to make a quick recovery. "Yeah! We're invincible again!" Odd cheers.
Jeremy eventually virtualizes Ulrich. He lands and starts blocking the lasers. "Hi guys. Didn't need me too much, did ya?"
"I think we need you more now than ever," A tells him. "Look."
The krabs all block their way to the tower. Jeremy materializes their vehicles and Odd goes with Aelita under the krabs like a maniac.
The Lyoko Warriors start to make a little headway in the monster horde. "We might actually make it" Odd states.
"Not yet" A says as another row of krabs appear.
"Oh no. Not another row of those guys."
Ulrich comes in and eventually destroys one of the krabs which allows Odd and Aelita to make it to the tower and deactivate it.
A was waiting outside the administration for the warriors to come back. "How is he?"
"Still knocked out, but he'll be fine" Jeremy replies.
Yumi's phone rings. She answers it. "Yes? Yeah mom, I'm listening. Uh huh. Uh huh. Alright. See you tonight." She hangs up and turns to the group. "My father's found work with Takahashi."
"Takahashi? You mean in Japan?" Ulrich asks with worry.
"No silly right here!"
Yumi was not going anywhere and the Lyoko Warriors will always be one.
A.N. – And this ends this incredibly long chapter. This will probably be the only one, but I don't know. Next time, Xana and the warriors unite to defeat a program created by Jeremy.
