Chapter 37 Who's Who? (Xana's Kiss)
A.N. – Confusion, deceit, and betrayal is upon the warriors as Xana launches a new attack on them directly. Can they find a way out? Only one way to find out!

Short Summary – When Xana's latest plan to separate the warriors from within, they must band together to figure out who's working for Xana before it's too late.

Xana's Point of View
Xana's power has grown to a point where when he obtains the keys, he will become the most powerful being in existence. The only thing that stood between him and this goal was Aelita. A was going to help him when the time was right, but Xana has not seen this yet. She didn't help her in sector five and provided a valuable opportunity, but it still turned into failure. A was still convinced that everything was proceeding as planned, but Xana was becoming impatient. He decided that in order for him to obtain Aelita was to separate her from her friends. And the one way he saw to do this was to toy with their emotions. He activates a tower in the desert sector and a specter appears in the bathroom before assuming a figure.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was walking with Jeremy, discussing the almost close call and the situation with A. "Have you noticed anything weird with her?" Aelita asks as they walk down the dormitory steps.
"No, but we can't directly spy on her. And we can't exactly send you because then Xana will be in prime position to take your memory" Jeremy responds.
"Then there's no way we can trust her either. Should we just cut her off?"
"No, she has valuable use to the team. Without her, Odd and Yumi might not be here right now. Let's just take it day by day as we try to stop Xana as well as trying to figure out how to watch A with a close eye."
Heidi then walks up to them. "Jeremy, would you mind telling me why you kissed me in front of Odd?" She says and crosses her arms angrily.
"What are you talking about? Are you out of your mind?"
Aelita at this time walks away quietly. She couldn't believe that Jeremy would betray her, as well as Odd.
A's Point of View
A arrived around the breakfast and saw some tension among the others as they all walked out. "Did I miss something?"
"Word is I kissed Heidi" Jeremy responds.
"And word is I'm dating Matthais" Yumi adds.
"That I'm sure is not true" A says knowing that kiss on Lyoko was not a fluke.
"Well, according to William, he saw me kissing him. Is he trying to break us up since he's not officially one of us?"
"That wouldn't explain how the accusation of me kissing Heidi arises" Jeremy says.
"Yeah, it's not William, at least not this time" A says.
"Anything on Lyoko?" Jeremy asks.
"Quiet on the mountain sector, and no distant pulsation in the ice or forest."
"What about the desert?"
"I can't hear that far. Might be useful to check the superscan."
"Hey!" Jeremy calls out as Ulrich walks up to Sissi and kisses her before leaving.
"Is this payback?" Yumi crosses her arms with anger.
"If it is, he choose the worst person to do it with" A says.
Xana's Point of View
Xana was able to catch some of the reactions of the warriors and the topping was that A was clueless as well. His plan was coming out perfectly and was almost foiled by Jim, who saw him as Ulrich.
"Stern! What are you doing here? You should be in class!" Jim calls out.
'Uh oh, problems' Xana thought as he ran backwards. 'Time for a quick change.' He quickly changed forms into the school nurse as Jim turned the corner. He walks up to him and kisses him and walks away. 'Crisis averted. Time to seal the deal.' Xana moved in for the final kill.
Just as class was ending, Xana turns into Aelita and stands next to Nicolas. He made sure Jeremy was watching and kissed Nicolas. Xana knew the Jeremy would lose all trust in Aelita and the now all he had to do was get Aelita to Lyoko and the keys would be all his.
Xana watched from a safe distance and saw Aelita run away in tears. He walked towards her and assumed one final form.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was in the bedroom in the Hermitage in tears. She didn't know why Jeremy was so mad at her. She was in total disbelief with the Heidi incident, but she was ready to move past that. Then he flat out accuses her of kissing Nicolas before blowing up on her. She felt herself slipping away from him for something she never did.
"Problems sister?" A female voice said and Aelita turned around to see A standing in the doorway.
"A? What are you doing here?" Aelita asked.
"I saw you run away in tears, so I decided to come check on you."
"Well, at least you still trust me right?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't I?"
"Well, Jeremy believes I kissed Nicolas and now he is mad as hell at me."
"Oh no Aelita. Jeremy couldn't be more wrong. He is still confused over the Heidi situation this morning. He is trying to wrap his head around that and then he sees this. Yeah, he may be confused, but he'll know something is up."
"How do you know that?"
"Because I'm doing this to isolate you" Xana spoke as the sign of Xana flashed in the eyes. The specter shot electricity at her, and she went out cold.
A's Point of View
A ran with the rest of the group to the Hermitage as Jeremy revealed that a tower was activated, and all the kissing was done by a polymorphic specter of Xana's. They assumed that Aelita would be here. As they were arriving, the door to the sewer closed and they ran inside and upstairs to find it empty.
"She's not her?! That's impossible" Jeremy exclaims.
A pulls out her laptop and scans he cell signal. "According to my program, it says Aelita is in the sewers" A says.
"Is he going to Lyoko?" Ulrich says.
"I don't think he would be that dumb. She knows Xana will steal her memory and she wouldn't sacrifice herself because of a petty argument" Odd realizes.
A remembered this argument. Odd was right. She wasn't dumb enough to go to Lyoko or sacrifice herself to the Scyphozoa. So there was only on other option, the specter got to her first. "If you ask me, Xana got to her first. He is probably trying to isolate her so-" A starts.
"He sends her in without us there to stop him" Ulrich finishes.
"Then we got no time to lose. Let's get to the factory!" Yumi says as they all head for the sewers.
Xana's Point of View
The specter holds Aelita over its shoulder as it emerges on the bridge to the factory. It runs and uses the elevator appearing at the scanners. The specter places Aelita down and then climbs up to the laboratory. The specter then shuts down the elevator to slow down the warriors. "That should buy me some time. Transfer Aelita. Scanner. Virtualization!" Aelita was the successfully virtualized to the desert sector, a good distance from the tower.
A's Point of View
The rest of the group arrive at the factory and find the elevator unusable. "Looks like Xana hit the elevator switch" Ulrich comments.
"Then we'll have to go through the boiler" A says as they head in that direction.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was coming to and found herself on Lyoko. "What am I doing here? Jeremy? A? Anyone?" Suddenly, Aelita heard familiar sounds behind her. She turns around to see the Scyphozoa. Aelita tries to run away but is immediately grabbed.
A's Point of View
The group was above the specter who was unaware. "Hey you!" A calls out as the specter looks up. "Surprise!" A drops from the ceiling. "For a cheap copy, you're incredibly weak."
The rest of the group emerges. "Get to the scanners quick! Aelita is losing her memory!" Jeremy calls out in panic.
A walks up and re-enables the elevator. She drags the specter and ascends to get it away from the lab. A few minutes later the specter wakes up. It sees the elevator and tries to walk towards it. "Hey you! To get back to them, you have to go through me."
"You're making a big mistake here A!" Xana said through the specter.
"Leaving me in the dark brought this down on yourself."
"I'm becoming increasingly impatient. I have the power to fix everything, but I need the keys to do so! I can't help you with me being trapped."
"And me not knowing won't allow me to get Aelita alone."
"Ha! I already achieved that. If I had five more minutes, I would be free!"
"Well, you're not gonna stop them this time."
The both got into a fighting stance. Both were trying to exchange blows. A caught a punch and was barely holding Xana back. A's grip eventually fell apart and she got punched in the face. She had a little blood on her lip from the blow she took from Xana. Xana tries to stomp on her. A surprised him as she grabbed her leg. Xana lost his balance and fell down on his back. A grabbed a pole and tried to impale the specter to destroy it. Xana grabbed it and was able to push A backwards. Xana picked up A And threw her to the beam. A's vision was blurry as she saw the specter heading to the lab. "His strength is incredible." A passes out.
Xana's Point of View
Xana could see what was going on in Lyoko and saw a place where Aelita was trapped. He devirtualized the bridge behind her and smiled. "Let's try this again Aelita!" Xana's plan was in motion.
A's Point of View
A woke up with a pounding headache. She knew that the specter was headed to the lab via the elevator, so she wouldn't be able to use it. She walked slowly to the boiler room. When she made it she saw the specter working on the computer. "You never learn, do you?" The specter turned to see A and was hit with a vicious fist. "That was for earlier." She saw Aelita's memory being drained fast by a second Scyphozoa. "Guys, hurry! Aelita might lose her whole memory!" The specter grabbed A.
"You just want to become a thorn in my side all day today!" Xana said, clearly with anger.
Xana was about to throw a punch, when Yumi saved her. "Not today Xana!"
A then took this opportunity to throw another punch, knocking the specter down. The specter got up quickly and was approaching the two girls when it suddenly disappeared.
"Tower deactivated" they heard Aelita say, sighing in relief.
"You got a wicked punch" Yumi tells A.
"It helps to have some martial arts background, especially when almost fighting Xana himself" A responds.
"Even though she helped us and held her own against the specter, she still needs to be watched" Aelita suggests.
"You're really convinced her, and Xana have something in common. Maybe since she was part of the original testing group, maybe she knows more than us" Ulrich suggests.
"Impossible. I looked over all files related to Xana. There is nothing saying how to access programs related to him" Jeremy responds.
"Hey Einstein, we still have the diary to decode. Maybe that holds the secrets that A knows" Odd adds.
"Maybe, but as it stands, there in no way to decode the thing. It is heavily encrypted and the encryption device I have would take years for it to crack the codes the Franz Hopper used to keep Xana out."
"It its as heavily encrypted as you say, there has to be some secrets that can clear up the mysteries in our group. Even A" Yumi says.
"I don't want to believe myself, but there's no evidence saying that I'm wrong and she's innocent. For now, she's guilty until proven innocent" Aelita said, being torn in tow directions, and after today, it was hard to believe who to trust.
A.N. – The suspicion around A grows. I don't know if there will be a scene where she becomes innocent, I just write this as I go, so I'm in the dark with all of you.
