Chapter 58 Trust (Crash Course)
A.N. – So, this chapter will differ in viewpoints throughout. It may be confusing to follow along but take your time.
Short Summary – With Xana targeting Jeremy and Aelita constantly, Jeremy decides to explain the supercomputer functions with everyone. Also, Xana decides to put them to the test with his next scheme.

Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was sitting in the rec room with her friends. Odd was explaining his new girlfriend. Since she had no interest, she decide to record the last journey in her journal.
We finally launched or ship, the Skidbladnir, in the digital sea. It was successful, but we had a malfunction trying to head back to Lyoko. We saw the network as well as Xana's plans. We have no idea what that sphere was for, but I'm afraid we'll find out soon and I'm fairly sure A will also be there to stop our plans.
"Hey Aelita, what are you doing there?" Yumi asks.
"Oh, just a little journal I've been keeping about our adventures. I just started it" Aelita replies.
"Oh, like Ulrich and his diary" Odd adds.
"Yeah, except I stopped doing that. Too risky after what happened with Sissy" Ulrich replies.
"Yeah, but this is on my laptop and unless you want to get pinned with stealing, this journal is safe" Aelita says as she closes her laptop.
"Where is Jeremy?" William asks, now noticing he hasn't arrived.
"He's still up in his room. Said there was a problem he needed to address."
"The only problem is our friend Xana," Jeremy states once they meet in his room. "You remember the last few times he attacked?"
"Which time? The one with the trees or at the swimming pool?" Odd asks.
"Odd, what did I say about the pool?" Ulrich reminds him.
"Why? What happened at the swimming pool, huh?" Aelita questions.
"Oh, nothing at all" Yumi answers.
"Are we referring to the time I saved your life at the pool?" William asks.
"Different time, but definitely one we wish Odd did not witness" Ulrich adds.
"I meant all the attacks Xana has launched recently, okay? Haven't you noticed what the target has been?" Jeremy says.
"Well, yeah, us" Odd points out.
"Yes, but especially Aelita and me, and it just so happens that we're the only one who can use the supercomputer," Jeremy crosses his arms.
"We've all done it though" Ulrich says.
"Well, I haven't yet" William speaks up.
"They did, following our instructions on the phone or laptop," Jeremy interjects. "But what would happen if Aelita or I weren't around to give you guys any help? Xana wins hands down without us. Which is why I'm giving you three a crash course on using the supercomputer this afternoon."
"What? No way!" Odd immediately protests. "Count me out. I'm going to the movies."
"And I got a test to study for" Yumi crosses her arms.
"If you guys think you have better things to do, I can't force you to come, but then don't expect us to gain a round on Xana" Jeremy says, turning to face them.
"You're right, but you know, some days it isn't easy being heroes…" Yumi mutters.
"Then listen, we'll meet up at the computer lab after lunch, and if you pick it up quickly, it'll be over in a couple of hours, okay?" Jeremy questions them.
"Okay…" Odd stands up, the others leaving.
"…Uh Jeremy, I can't make it this afternoon" Aelita stares at him.
"Hmm? Why not?" Jeremy asks her in confusion.
"Um, I've got my audition with the Subdigitals. You know, for the concert? Today's the final round of tryouts…"
"But that's impossible!" Jeremy protests to her. "What if something happens to me while you're gone?"
"That's no problem. While you're teaching everyone how to run the supercomputer, I'll keep my phone on. If Xana attacks, I'll be back in no time" Aelita suggest with a smile.
"…Okay…maybe you're right. I've worried too much. Go ahead, I can manage without you" Jeremy replies, turning to his computer.
"Thanks Jeremy" Aelita kisses his cheek, and he blushes smiling.
Jeremy's Point of View
Later, they meet in the lab. "Okay, to start off, we're going to go through a little bit of theory," Jeremy holds up packets of paper. "I've printed you up a small list of basic functions to prepare you-"
"Hey, wait a minute Einstein!" Odd interrupts him. "Wouldn't it be easier if we just went straight to the practical side? You tell us what button to push and presto, huh?"
"Odd," Jeremy says sharply. "Working the supercomputer isn't like fooling around on a game console. Before I can trust you with the controls, I want to be sure you know this thing inside out!" They all look at their papers skeptically. "Will you all relax? You'll see guys, the theoretical stuff is actually a lot of fun!"
"Yeah, a lot of fun" Ulrich says sarcastically.
Some time has passed, and it looks like the lesson has gone nowhere. "And so, if we export the virtual memory from the B block into the internal matrix, you could reconfigure the transfer file! This will let you delay the alignment of the quantic qubits. I'm sure you see where I'm going with this, any questions?" Jeremy asks.
"Yeah, how do you expect us to remember all this blah, blah stuff?"
"If you guys were more attentive, you'd be able to understand it" Jeremy retorts back.
"Ulrich's right Jeremy," Yumi narrows her eyes. "Stop trying to teach us everything you know. Just show us some practical stuff, like virtualizing us onto Lyoko, or programming up the vehicles."
"Okay fine, I guess we may as well get to the practical end…" Jeremy looks away and Odd wakes up.
"A-Are we there yet?" Odd asks.
Ulrich was first up to try a virtualization without assistance from Jeremy. He was there to monitor him, just so they wouldn't lose another like A. "Make sure you hit the right button, I'm ready," Odd tells Ulrich. "But I don't want to end up with 4 arms and 3 legs!"
"Shut up. Transfer Odd, right?" Ulrich turns to Jeremy, who simply nods with a hum. William started pressing buttons to finish the process. He was good at normal computers, but this one was a whole new element. "Transfer Odd." He taps enter, and the doors close. Odd's avatar appears. "Scanner Odd." The scan happens and completes. "Virtualization."
A few seconds later, Odd lets out a scream. "You turned me into a garden gnome!"
"What?!"
However, Odd is perfectly fine, standing in the ice sector. "Relax, just kidding. Everything's cool here."
"Very funny," Ulrich says in annoyance. "Not too bad, right."
"Yeah, not bad," Jeremy scoffs a little. "You were confused there for a second, and almost hit the wrong button."
"Hey, is he there or not?" Ulrich asks in irritation.
"Yes, because I was here with you. And you weren't under the stress of a Xana attack," Jeremy points out. Just as he says this, a tower is activated. "Give me my seat back! Activated tower, mountain sector. Head for the scanners, hurry up!"
Suddenly they hear something, looking up and gasping. A specter appears from the ceiling, turning to look like one of the agents that discovered the factory.
"I'll handle him!" William runs up to him, jumping, planning to knock him down. The clone grabs his foot and throws him onto the ground. It turns around to the wires on the floor ripping one apart.
"Hey!" Jeremy steps down from his chair. The clone lunges towards him.
"Jeremy!" Yumi shouts in horror.
"No!"
She watches him get electrocuted. "Jeremy!"
His vision goes black after getting hit by Xana's attack.
Ulrich's Point of View
Yumi presses her ear to Jeremy's stomach. "He's still breathing, but he took a lot of volts."
"Hey, uh, guys?" Odd speaks up. "Remember me?"
Ulrich takes a seat in the chair, putting the microphone on. "Odd, we're in trouble. Xana's sent a polymorphic specter and Jeremy is unconscious."
"Oh, well then, it's a good thing he showed us how to work the supercomputer!"
"Yeah, and now we need to use it to get to Lyoko and deactivate the tower." Ulrich turns to the keyboard.
"I'll call her" Yumi pulls out her mobile.
Aelita's phone rings, but since she's doing her mix, she doesn't hear it.
"No answer. I'll send her a text message" Yumi says.
"Okay, we'll just have to improvise. What do I do?" Odd asks.
"Uh, for openers Odd, try and get to the mountain sector" Yumi replies, turning to the screen.
"Shouldn't we bring him back while we try to contact Aelita?" William asks skeptically.
"Okay, you know how to rematerialize him?" Yumi raises a brow towards the screen.
"Not at this moment."
"No sense arguing guys," Odd shakes his head. "I'd rather stay here and fight! Just tell me where I can find a way tower."
"Let's see…um, a way tower…oh, I know! To find a way tower, you have to bring up a radar window with these two keys!" Yumi taps two keys to the upper right, but it seems to pull up Odd's avatar, to their horror.
"Hey, what are you doing?! Get it right!" She presses the same two buttons again, making it stop.
"Thanks. Well then, plan B…try to bring up my Overboard. Maybe I can find that stupid way tower on my own from the air."
"Great, another thing I don't know," Ulrich flips through Jeremy's notes. "Jeremy's notes are scattered. I can't find it!"
"I think it's this one over here" Yumi tries to help him.
"Oh, take your time, okay?" Odd taps his foot impatiently. "Cuz I've got nothing better to do! Speaking of which, any sign of specter Gadget?"
"Yeah, how come he disappeared like that?" Yumi wonders.
"Maybe he had other plans" Ulrich says.
Yumi realizes who. "Aelita! The specter must have gone after her, we have to warn her right away! See ya later!" Yumi runs off.
"I'm coming with you. You'll need all the help you can get with him" William joins her.
"Wait, what am I supposed do?" Ulrich says confused.
"You're doing great Ulrich. Just keep it up!" She smiles, pressing the button to the elevator and leaving him. He frowns toward the keyboard.
Odd runs down the path, stopping at the edge of the sector. "I don't believe it! Where is this way tower?"
"I wish I knew," Ulrich stammers nervously. "Uh Odd, Xana sent you some company."
Odd turns around and sees three bloks up ahead. "Huh? Yeah, bloks and they don't look friendly." He rushes past the bloks, who fire lasers at him. He crawls on all fours and points his arm at them. "Laser arrow!" His arrows only graze them. He slides a bit. "I don't believe it, I missed them all!" He turns around and runs in the other direction. "Okay, you monster cool it!" Odd warns them, getting hit in the tail. "Ouch!" He leaps into the air.
Ulrich was trying to help Odd on Lyoko, while Odd fought for his life. Ulrich did manage to bring up a vehicle, but it was an Overbike. Odd got on and drove off to find a way to the mountain sector. Ulrich tried a few more commands but brings up a window with a timer.
"Oh no, what's that?" Ulrich asks.
Yumi calls him, to his relief, knowing she found Aelita. "Yumi, I got an issue here."
"Hold on, I got the expert with us" Yumi hands the phone to Aelita.
"Ulrich, it's Aelita. Is there anything written above the window?"
"Yeah, big fat cheesehead."
"It's a code for virtualization into the mountain sector."
"Ulrich, has Odd found the way tower?" Yumi questions.
"No…but I just got a crazy idea " Ulrich has stepped into the elevator and it closes.
He steps into a scanner and virtualizes into the mountain sector. He stops and hides behind a rock as sees A and a few krabs protecting the tower. A few minutes have passed, and Ulrich awaits the arrival of the others.
"Yoo hoo, guess who?" Aelita says.
Ulrich turns around and holds his double sabers to block Aelita thinking she was A. "Not a smart move with A sounding like you."
"What's on the menu?"
"Krabs and your future self."
Odd also arrives at this time. "If you knew how many towers I've been through before I got to the right one…"
"We're going to need more vehicles Yumi. Do you read me Yumi?" Aelita says.
"Transmission problems?" Odd wonders as they walk up to him.
"No, I think it's worse. I'm pretty sure that the specter is in the computer lab."
"Shoot me Odd. I'll help Yumi" Ulrich offers.
"No, I should be the one," Odd gestures to himself. "I've already lost lots of life points, you still got all yours. You'd be more useful here. What's more, that's exactly what we did during the swimming pool attack!"
"I don't ever want to hear about the swimming pool again!" Ulrich says angrily as he wipes out Odd. "Good riddance. Saddle up princess."
A's Point of View
A sees the two approaching. She smiles evilly. "This is where the fun begins. Attack!"
Aelita activates her wings and takes flight as Ulrich continues to drive to the monsters. A activates her wings and slams into Aelita making her crash near the edge of the mountain. Luckily, she gets up before A can get to her. A continues to approach her. Aelita finds out she can no longer back up. She fires an orb which a easily destroys.
"Face it Aelita. I know you and all your strategies" A tells her.
Suddenly a fan comes in and slashes A hand. The fan returns to Yumi. "You might know her, but you don't know me" Yumi declares.
"Thanks Odd" Aelita thanks.
Yumi throws both of her fans which A dodges. "Energy field!" She fires a quick orb which Yumi avoids. Yumi then runs at A. "Poor decision." She aims at Yumi. Yumi throws on last fan which distracts A long enough for Yumi to reach her. A then quickly grabs her saber and slashes through Yumi.
Aelita is able to reactivate her wings. She takes flight, but A does too. She takes off towards Aelita. Suddenly, Ulrich comes in and pulls her down. "Go Aelita!" He urges. Ulrich pulls out both his sabers.
"Apparently my friends weren't enough for you" A states.
"I've taken down many of your friends. But taking you down will be my biggest accomplishment."
A draws her saber. The two engage in a duel. Sparks fly with each strike and each one strikes and blocks with incredible speed and force. Eventually the tow lock sabers. "Just like Aelita, I know your best moves."
"Not all of them!" Ulrich is able to dislodge A's saber and then he does a 360 and slashes her with his double sabers. The last things she sees is the tower getting deactivated.
Aelita's Point of View
Aelita was with the rest of the group as Jeremy was coming too. "What happened? Huh…Aelita…the specter…uh, tower…did you – did you do it?"
"Me?" she gestures to herself. "I didn't do anything." She smiles as he looks towards the others.
"Well it's good to know that no matter what, Xana can't stop us by attacking Aelita or me."
"So, that means you trust us?" Yumi asks.
"I trust you to virtualize the others. With everything else, I'm not so sure."
"We do the fighting; you handle the technical side" William states.
"Yeah but knowing a lot can be a big advantage over A and Xana. Those two with their combined knowledge and power and better than the five of us and that's saying a lot."
"Is there still a chance to save her?" Ulrich asks.
"From Xana yes. From herself, I don't know."
"Why from herself? Think she is conflicted" Aelita asks.
"There is a reason she decided to join Xana, whether it was to just save William or not. Obviously, there was something happening before this if Xana kept her the same way. This just stresses we have to find out what is happening in the network if we ever want to have a chance of stopping Xana and getting A back."
A did have a plan in motion, but for both pieces to work, she needed to wait for the right time and that was far away.
A.N. – And thus ends this little chapter. I will probably end up skipping Replica due to it will probably be a 95% carbon copy of the original. I might post a bonus chapter at the end of this with deleted altered scenes. It will just show what would have changed. We will have to see when we reach Echoes. PM me with story ideas!
