The Ruins of Hope
The group decides to exit the Poni Ruins through the east gate and soon enter an area known as Poni Breaker Coast that had some rocky terrain, and pools of water.
They make their way through, using their Lapras to get around the area. Eventually, they all find a path that had two totems at the start of it.
"What do you suppose this place is?" asked Edd.
"Let's check it out." said Eddy. The group enters the area to see a small cavern; they look down deep into it and see Hapu's Mudsdale in front of an opening.
"Where's Hapu?" asked Jimmy.
"Maybe she went into that opening?" suggested Maxiley.
"Let's check it out." said Sarah. The group make their way down some very short cliffs that acted as stairs.
"I think this leads into the Ruins of Hope." said Lillie.
"Ruins of Hope?" replied Edd.
"The deity of Poni Island, Tapu Fini, resides here." said Lillie. "People come here to give thanks to it."
"Cool." said Ed.
"But the air feels so oppressive in here!" said Lillie.
"What do we do?" asked Jimmy.
"If we go in there, then maybe Nebby might return to normal!" said Lillie.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" asked Sarah.
"You're right." said Lillie. "I'm gonna give it my all so we can return Nebby to normal!"
"We'll be right behind you." said Edd.
"Thanks, Double-D." said Lillie. With that, they all enter the ruins. Inside, they see a stone path that was blocked by several large stone cubes.
"What do we do now?" asked Eddy.
"I believe we need to arrange these stones so we can continue forward." said Edd.
"I don't think Ed can move these." said Eddy. Ed tries to move the stones, but they wouldn't budge.
"Perhaps we can try having Machamp move these stones." said Edd as he takes out the Ride Pager and uses it to call Machamp over.
"Good idea, Double-D." said Eddy.
"Let me examine this area." said Edd as he observes the path from all possible viewpoints.
"Got something yet?" asked Maxiley.
"I believe so." said Edd.
"Then do it." said Eddy.
"Machamp, move that stone forward." said Edd as he points at one of the stones; the Machamp shoves the stone until it hits another one, stopping it from moving any further.
"What now?" asked Ed. Edd points at a stone that was on Machamp's right.
"Now move that stone as far as you can." said Edd, making Machamp do so.
"Okay, what's next?" asked Jimmy.
"Move to that side of the stone and push it." said Edd. Machamp moves around to the side that Edd instructed him to and pushes the stone until it falls into a pit, filling it, and showing a path that led to a doorway.
"Good job, Double-D!" said Lillie as she hugs Edd, making him smile and blush.
"Let's get going." said Sarah. They all enter the doorway and come into a large chamber where they see stairs leading up to a small altar.
"I've read about them, you know." said Lillie.
"Pardon?" Edd replied.
"Alola's sacred ruins, and the guardians worshipped within them." said Lillie. "They go wherever they want, so it's not easy to meet them, according to the books I've read."
"Cool." said Ed.
"But if they are summoned here at the ruins, they do sometimes appear." said Lillie. She then lets out Cosmog in his dormant state and he floats in midair.
"What now?" asked Maxiley.
"The books say that they are, well, capricious." said Lillie.
"What's that mean?" asked Eddy.
"It means impulsive and unpredictable." said Edd.
"You mean like Eddy used to be?" asked Jimmy.
"Precisely." said Edd.
"Anyway, encounters with them do not always end as you hope they will." said Lillie. "Maybe that explains why even coming here hasn't evokes any response from Nebby."
"What do we do now?" asked Jimmy. As they look up at the altar, they see someone they recognized.
"Oh! There's Hapu!" said Lillie. As they look, they notice a glow coming from in front of her.
"What's that?" asked Ed. They move around to get a better look and soon see a Sparkling Stone hovering in front of Hapu; they all watch as she touches it, making the glow stop and holds it in her hands.
"I give my thanks for your great blessing." said Hapu. "As kahuna, I will do my best for the people, and the Pokemon of Alola." She then turns and were surprised when she sees the group.
"Alola, Hapu." said Jimmy.
"Oh! So you were all watching?" asked Hapu as she blushes after seeing Jimmy.
"Yes we were." said Edd. Hapu comes down from the altar to talk to them.
"Kahunas are chosen by the Pokemon we worship here in Alola; our sacred guardians!" said Hapu.
"Intriguing." said Edd.
"They are chosen from among the people living on the island each guardian watches over." said Hapu. "And most of you are newcomers here."
"Yes we are." said Edd.
"I heard about how you were all giving Sparkling Stones by the tapu, even as strangers to our shores." said Hapu.
"Yeah!" said Ed. Hapu then turned towards the altar.
"My grandfather, he was also chosen for this honor; the honor of being this island's kahuna." said Hapu. "But he died years back , and we were left without a kahuna on Poni."
"We're sorry to hear that." said Edd.
"I tried to follow in his footsteps, but I was not chosen by the tapu back then." said Hapu. "So I set out on my own island challenge, traveling Alola and trying to grow stronger."
"Wow." said Jimmy. Hapu turned towards Lillie.
"Lillie; the kahuna you wished to meet is right here." said Hapu.
"O-Oh, Of course." replied Lillie. "Then please, Kahuna Hapu; tell me about the legendary Pokemon."
"So, you want to pay tribute to Lunala, who we paid tribute to at the Altar of the Moone?" asked Hapu.
"I must go after my mother; she disappeared in some far off world." said Lillie. "A fearsome creature lives in that world. A Pokemon called Necrozma. That's why I want to ask the legendary Pokemon for its help; the legendary Pokemon is the only one who can go back and forth between worlds."
"A world where beasts reside, eh?" replied Hapu. "I reckon that must be the kind of world you find at the other end of those holes that open up in the sky, just as my grandfather once described. All right; I'll tell you what I know."
"Thank you." replied Lillie.
"But what I know is not much, just that there's a ceremony held for the legendary Pokemon at the altar. A ceremony that uses two particular flutes to somehow give the legendary Pokemon power." Lillie takes the Moon Flute out of her bag.
"This is the Moon Flute; it seems my mother had it." said Lillie.
"Ho! That looks to be the flute that's used to reside at the lake on Ula'ula." said Hapu. "The other is said to be held on Exeggutor Island. I don't know why there of all places, but it has been passed down that that's where it belongs."
"Exeggutor Island; I think I've read about it before." said Lillie. "It's an uninhabited island off the of Poni, isn't that right?"
"Yes. And no reason to dally here." said Hapu. "Let us go and speak with Mina. Lillie, you take Mudsdale. We proceed to Seafolk Village." The group then exit the altar to proceed to return to Seafolk Village.
What awaits the group at Seafolk Village. Wait and find out as their Alola adventure continues.
