She audibly gasped when the doorbell rang. She stood quickly and tucked the small photograph on the mantle, face down. Then she rolled her eyes at her own sentimentality, knowing full well it was probably Eddie and he likely wouldn't be venturing into the living room. She took a deep breath and ran her fingers under her eyes. Dry, luckily. The doorbell rang again.

She sighed and headed into the hallway.

"Hi, sorry" she smiled convincingly.

"Everything alright?" He asked. Apparently she wasn't convincing enough.

"Course. How are you? You had Michael last night right?" She smiled when her efforts paid off, listening intently to the intricacies of Michael's new dinosaur obsession.
