Rising to Grand Duchess (Part Two)
Nazz and Anastasia were facing each other in the Battle Chateau, each holding a pokeball.
"Hey, Nazz." Nazz hears Kevin call out. She looks to see him, along with Jonny and Rolf among the crowd watching.
"What are you guys doing here?" asked Nazz.
"We got bored with waiting, so we want to see how you're doing." replied Kevin.
"Are you battling that lady over there?" asked Jonny.
"Yeah; she was being disrespectful to Charlotte, so I want to teach her a lesson." said Nazz. The boys look around until they saw Charlotte standing near them, watching Nazz and Anastasia.
"Go get her, Nazz!" said Jonny. Nazz nods in response and turned towards Anastasia.
"You ready, Anastasia?" asked Nazz.
"I was; if you hadn't been wasting time talking to those common boys over there, we would be battling now." replied Anastatia, pointing at Kevin, Jonny and Rolf, making Nazz frown. "Azumarill, go!" She tosses a pokeball and releases an oval shaped, bipedal, blue Pokemon that's white on the lower half of its body, had long ears, and a tail with a blue ball on the end of it.
"What's that? asked Nazz as she points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Azumarill, the Aqua Rabbit Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Azurill. The bubble-like pattern on its stomach helps it camouflage itself when it's in the water." said the pokedex.
"Dedenne, go!" said Nazz, throwing Dedenne's pokeball, and releasing her. Dedenne and Azumarill faced each other.
"Oh, Azumarill, do use Aqua Tail." said Anastasia. Water spirals around Azumarill's tail and it leaps at Dedenne; Azumarill swings its tail at Dedenne and hits her, knocking her into the ground.
"That Aqua Tail looked strong." said Nazz.
"Well, my Azumarill does have the Huge Power ability; which doubles her attack strength." said Anastasia. "And she is holding a Sea Incense which increases the power of her water attacks." Dedenne gets back up.
"Dedenne, use Discharge!" said Nazz. Dedenne releases bolts of electricity from her body and they hit Azumarill, dealing super effective damage; Azumarill begins to twitch.
"Azumarill's paralyzed!" said Kevin. Anastasia growls in response.
"Azumarill, do use Double-Edge." said Anastatia. Unfortunately, paralysis gets the better of Azumarill and stops her from attacking.
"Dedenne, use Charge!" said Nazz. Dedenne becomes covered in sparks and its special defense increases.
"Azumarill, do use Hydro Pump." said Anastasia. Azumarill was able to fight through her paralysis and releases a powerful stream of water from her mouth and it hits Dedenne, knocking her back.
"Dedenne, use Thunder!" said Nazz. Dedenne releases a massive yellow bolt of electricity from her body and it hits Azumarill, dealing super effective damage. Azumarill struggles to stay up.
"This Pokemon is quite resiliant, yes?" asked Rolf.
"Nazz can still win!" said Kevin.
"Yeah!" said Jonny.
"Azumarill, do use Bubble Beam" said Anastasia. Azumarill fights through its paralysis and fires a beam of glowing bubbles from her mouth and it hits Dedenne, knocking her back; she struggles to get up.
"Use Charge Beam!" said Nazz. Dedenne fires a beam of electricity from her paws and it hits Azumarill, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out; Dedenne begins surging with energy and her special attack strength increases from Charge Beam.
"Noooooo!" cries Anastasia.
"Way to go, Nazz!" said Kevin. Anastasia returns Azumarill to its pokeball.
"I am very disappointed in you, Azumarill." said Anastasia.
"Come on; she tried her best!" said Nazz. Anastatsia turns her head with a scoff before putting Azumarill's pokeball away, then pulls out a Great Ball.
"Kangaskhan, go." said Anastasia, thowing the Great Ball and releases a large, brown, kangaroo-like Pokemon that was wearing a brown choker with a Key Stone on it and had a smaller, light purple version of itself in its pouch. Nazz points her pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Kangaskhan, the Parent Pokemon. If it is safe, the young gets out of the belly pouch to play. The adult keeps a close eye on the youngster." said the pokedex.
"I hope I don't hurt the little one in that Pokemon's pouch." said Nazz.
"There's no need to be concerned for the young one." said Anastasia. She touches the Mega Stone on her choker and stream of energy comes out of it while streams of energy comes out of Kangaskhan's Key Stone; the streams of energy combine with each other and Kangaskhan begins to glow; the smaller Kangaskhan jumps out of the pouch and it begins to grow. When the glowing stopped, the younger Kangaskhan was now bigger than it was before.
"Oh, Mega Kangaskhan, do use Mega Punch." said Anastasia. Both Kangaskhans charge at Dedenne; the bigger one punches Dedenne up into the air, and the smaller one jumps up and punches Dedenne into the ground, unconscious.
"Did that Pokemon use an attack twice?" asked Nazz.
"Indeed; Mega Kangaskhan has the Parental Bond ability, which allows both Kangaskhans to use an attack at once." replied Anastasia.
"So, both those Kangaskhans can attack at the same time?" asked Kevin. Nazz returns Dedenne to her pokeball.
"You did your best, little dudette." said Nazz.
"Why praise your Pokemon for being defeated?" asked Anastasia. Nazz frowns while putting Dedenne's pokeball away, and pulling out another.
"Gardevoir, go!" said Nazz as she throws Gardevoir's pokeball and releases her. Nazz holds up her Mega Ring. "Time for Mega Pokemon vs Mega Pokmeon" She touches her Gardevoirite and stream of energy comes out of it, as well as Gardevoir's Key Stone; the streams of energy combine and Gardevoir Mega Evolves into Mega Gardevoir.
"Mega Pokemon battling it out!? Cool!" said a boy in a Viscount cape.
"Mega Gardevoir, use Moonblast!" said Nazz. Mega Gardevoir forms a ball of pink energy between her hands and launches it at Mega Kangaskhan, hitting both of them, and knocking them back.
"Mega Kangaskhan, do use Double Hit." said Anastasia. The bigger Kangaskhan punches Gardevoir across the face twice while the smaller Kangaskhan punches her in the stomach twice.
"Mega Gardevoir, use Psychic!" said Nazz. Mega Gardevoir's eyes glowed blue and releases a blue shockwave at Mega Kangaskhan, hitting them and sending them flying back onto the ground while their special defense weakens; they both get back up.
"Mega Kangaskhan, do use Comet Punch!" said Anastasia. Mega Kangaskhan runs at Gardevoir and both Kangaskhans punch Mega Gardevoir repeatedly.
"Mega Gardevoir, use Confusion!" said Nazz. Mega Gardevoir's eyes glowed purple and both Kangaskhans gets lifted up, then slammed onto the ground.
"Mega Kangaskhan, do use Mega Punch." said Anastasia. Both Kangaskhan charge at Gardevoir with their fists raised.
"Double Team!" said Nazz. Mega Gardevoir splits into several copies of herself. Both Kangaskhans each punch one of them, but they were only copies. "Now use Moonblast!" The real Mega Gardevoir forms a ball of pink energy between her hands and she launches it and it hits both Kangaskhans, hitting them, and dealing more damage due to their special defense being weakend by Psychic.
"Mega Kangaskhan, do use Dizzy Punch." said Anastasia. Both Kangaskhans run at Mega Gardevoir and punches her repeatedly, knocking her to the ground; she struggles to get up.
"Don't give up, Mega Gardevoir!" said Nazz.
"Perhaps she should; spare her from a humiliating defeat." said Anastasia.
"Mega Gardevoir, use Tackle!" said Nazz. Mega Gardevoir charges at the larger Kangaskhan while pink pixels surround Mega Gardevoir's body from her Pixilate ability and she rams it, dealing more damage than Tackle normally would due to it being stronger due to Mega Gardevoir's ability and sending the larger Kangaskhan flying and landing on the smaller Kangaskhan; both laid there with swirly eyes while returning to their regular forms.
"Nazz is victorious!" said Rolf.
"Not yet, Rolf; I still have to beat one more Pokemon." said Nazz. Anastasia growls while returning Kangaskhan to her pokeball.
"Your failure will not be forgotten, Kangaskhan." said Anastasia, making Nazz frown at her. Anastasia puts Kangaskhan's Great Ball away and pulls out a Premier Ball. "Florges, go." She tosses the Premier Ball, releasing her Florges. "Florges, do use Petal Blizzard." Anastasia's Florges spins around, releasing pink petals from her body that hits Mega Gardevoir, dealing damage.
"My Florges is holding a Meadow Plate, which increases the power of her grass type attacks." said Anastasia. Mega Gardevoir returns to her regular form and collapses. "I believe my Florges is victorious."
"Don't worry, Nazz; you can still win this!" said Jonny. Nazz nods and returns Gardevoir to her pokeball.
"I'm proud of you, Gardevoir." said Nazz.
"How like a commoner to praise a Pokemon for defeat." said Anastasia.
"There's nothing wrong with assuring your Pokemon you understand they gave it all they could!" said Nazz. She puts Gardevoir's pokeball away and pulls out a Great Ball. "Let's see how your Florges does against mine!" She throws Florges' Great Ball and releases her.
"So, it's a battle between Florgeses." said Kevin.
"But which one will win?" asked Jonny.
"We must believe Nazz girl will be victorious." said Rolf.
"You're right, Rolf." said Kevin.
"Go, Nazz!" cheered Jonny.
"You can do it!" said Charlotte.
"Since we're sharing what our Pokemon are holding, my Florges is holding a Rose Incense, which like Meadow Plate, also powers up her grass type moves." said Nazz.
"I am certain my Florges will defeat yours." said Anastasia. "Oh, Florges, do use Magical Leaf." Anastasia's Florges releases glowing green leaves from her body and they hit Nazz's Florges, dealing damage.
"Use Razor Leaf!" said Nazz. Her Florges releases leaves from her body and they hit Anastasia's Florges, landing a critical hit, and damaging her.
"Florges, do use Petal Dance." said Anastasia.
"You too, Florges!" said Nazz. Both Florges' release pink petals from their bodies and they hit each other, damaging them. "Florges, use Vine Whip!" Nazz's Florges releases vines from the flowers around her neck and they hit Anastasia's Florges, knocking her back.
"Florges, do use Grass Knot." said Anastasia. Two large, glowing blades of grass come up from the ground and they wrap themselves around Nazz's Florges' legs, causing her to fall over, damaging her.
"Razor Leaf!" said Nazz. Florges releases more green leaves at Anastasia's Florges and they hit her.
"Florges, do use Tackle." said Anastasia.
"You too, Florges." said Nazz. Both Florges leap at each other and rams each other, knocking them back; they both begin breathing heavily. As Nazz looks at her Florges, she thinks back at all her times with her Florges; meeting her when she was a Flabebe on Route 4, catching her by accident with a Great Ball, their time together, training, evolving into Floette, then Florges, and their battles together. Nazz looks up with a look of sheer determination.
"Florges, Petal Dance!" shouts Nazz.
"Do use Petal Dance as well, Florges." said Anastasia. Both Florges spins around, releasing sparkling pink petals from their bodies; they past each other and hit their targets, damaging them, and knocking them back; they both land on their feet. They both stare at each other for several seconds until finally, Anastasia's Florges collapses. Everyone looks with stunned silence until a big smile forms in Nazz's face.
"We did it!" cheered Nazz, jumping up while raising a fist. Nazz's Florges lets out a sigh of relief and does a bow.
"Nazz won!" said Kevin.
"She did it!" said Jonny.
"Rolf is proud of Nazz." said Rolf.
"Way to show Anastasia what 'common people' can do, Nazz!" said Charlotte. Anastasia looks with a look of shock on her face while returning her Florges to her Premier Ball and puts it away. She stands there for a few seconds before she lets out a yell and takes off her hat, throws it onto the ground, and begins jumping down on it; she then storms off.
"Splendid battle, Duchess Nazz." said Mr. Hennessy, walking over to Nazz. He then holds up a purple cape. "Or should I say Grand Duchess Nazz." Nazz looks at the cape with a stunned look.
"You mean?" asked Nazz.
"Indeed; you have earned enough points from all your battles today to earn yourself the rank of Grand Duchess; congratulations, Grand Duchess Nazz." said Mr. Hennessy. Nazz quitetly takes off her Duchess cape, then takes the Grand Duchess cape and puts it on. She stands there silently for a few seconds until tears form in her eyes, and a smile forms in her face.
"I DID IT! I'M A GRAND DUCHESS!" cheered Nazz, spinning around, letting her cape flow.
"Congratulations, Nazz!" said Kevin.
"You did it!" said Jonny.
"Rolf is quite pleased with Nazz for rising to Grand Duchess." said Rolf.
"Way to go, Nazz!" said Charlotte.
Later, at the lobby; Nazz was with Charlotte while Jonny, Kevin, and Rolf waited by the main entrance.
"So, what are you going to do now, Charlotte?" asked Nazz.
"I'm going to keep battling here until I rise to Grand Duchess myself." replied Charlotte. "After that, I'm going to get Teddiursa from storage and we're going to travel just like we planned on all those years ago."
"That sounds so cool." said Nazz.
"See you around...Grand Duchess Nazz." said Charlotte. She turns and begins to search for new opponents.
"Ready to go, Nazz?" asked Kevin.
"You bet, Kev." replied Nazz. The group walks out the entrance; as they walked up the path, Nazz takes one last look at the Battle Chateau before she and the rest of the group continue.
Now that Nazz has risen to Grand Duchess, what will happen now that their Kalos journey is almost over? Wait and find out.
