Know what's boring? Training stuff you've already read in three other Chaos Reigns stories. Survivor just plops the people in the island on the first episode so let's skip to the fun stuff.

Lana Mason- District Six female (17)

The paper lining on the examination bed was crackly against my backside as I sat on the edge of the bed. One medic held a stethoscope up to my back as another one unwrapped a needle.

"What's the shot for?" I asked. I wasn't really nervous- shots didn't hurt that bad- but I was idly curious about what disease I'd now be immune to.

"It's a tuberculosis test," the medic explained. "It just goes right under your skin. It's not really a shot. It leaves a bubble that goes away after a day."

"Oh, okay," I said. It wasn't super comfortable being examined and poked at when I couldn't say no, but I was happy for the checkup. Auntie had never kept up with my health back home. I wouldn't have been surprised if I'd had a ton of weird diseases. But so far the nurses said mostly I looked good. I had some lung damage from the smog in Six but I didn't have anything contagious, which was their biggest concern. The Capitol didn't care about outliers but they definitely cared if we might infect a Capitolite.

The medic held the needle to the back of my arm. I tensed up in anticipation but was relieved to find it just felt like when we used to press retractable pens to our arms at school because it looked like drugs. Not that we wanted to do drugs but we all thought it was funny it looked like it.

"You're all clear," she said after a minute. I looked at the little raised pea-sized bump on my arm filled with clearish liquid. Wonder how hard I'd need to bump it for it to pop. Ew.

The other medic handed me my folded clothes. I still had underwear on and both of the medics were women, so I went ahead and took off my gown and got dressed. Butterflies moved in my stomach as I thought about the hovercraft waiting just outside the building. I couldn't believe we were going straight into the Games. In a few minutes I'd be meeting all the other Tributes as we flew to who knows where to start the weirdest Hunger Games in history. I didn't think any of us had any idea what to make of it.

The outfit I'd been given was a pair of pants and a light shirt with long sleeves. The clips I'd watched of Survivor were almost all on tropical islands. A lot of the female contestants spent all their time in bathing suits. Clearly we were going somewhere not quite so warm, though I noticed I hadn't been given a coat. Somewhere in the middle, maybe?

I hadn't known what to expect but it was still nothing like what I expected. I held my breath as I got into the tube. I wasn't going to die, sure, but I was still nervous. Everyone was going to be watching me. I'd be living in a handmade shelter for who knows how long. Would the other contestants be mean? What if I was terrible at challenges and they all hated me?

I stood in my toes as the platform neared the ground. When I peeked out I saw a concrete floor. After an instant's assumption that Survivor was taking place on a basketball court, I saw the hovercraft. Oh, duh. I should have remembered that in the Survivor episodes I'd watched, each season started with the contestants flying out to the island. Speaking of…

All around me the other contestants were standing on their own platforms. I recognized some of them from Reaping footage I'd watched but I really didn't know anything about any of them. I was next to Trayne, I noticed, and the rest of the Districts were all in order as well. I supposed it didn't matter who was next to who since we weren't doing a Bloodbath.

The hovercraft door cracked open and slowly lowered to the ground. I glanced around, unsure if we were supposed to wait for something. A sign blinked to life over the open door.

BOARDING

Kendall hopped off his platform and strode toward the hovercraft. Dorian was next and the rest of us followed.

Inside the door there were two rows of seats on either side. They looked like car seats but with more secure four-point straps. I found the one marked with my name and clicked the belt into place.

Guess that's it, I thought, looking nervously at everyone else looking back at me. Wonder when we'll-

The craft shifted just slightly. It was barely noticeable but I had the feeling we were up and off.

Dorian Sargasso- District Four male (18)

Usually hovercrafts made noise but this one must have been special since it was almost completely silent. If not for the tiny thrum of machinery, more noticeable from the vibrations against my back then from any real noise, I wouldn't have known we were moving. If you asked me, we were intended to talk to each other. While the platforms were in District order, the seats were jumbled. I was in between Taylor and Enzo. Good a place as any to start networking.

"So, what do you all think it's going to be like?"

It was like I popped the cork from the bottle.

"Well I think it's gonna be really fun," Birdie said.

"Oh my gosh did anyone else cry when they said no one gets killed this year?" Amberlynn said.

"Yeah," Kendall said. Everyone looked at him. "Ha ha, got you."

"I wonder what the teams will be," Trayne said.

"Boys against girls!" Rowena said.

"Oh ick," Trydan said.

"One season it was divided by race," Val said.

"Nu-uh," Kallik said.

"No, I am seriously not joking you, it really was by race," Val insisted.

"True facts?" I couldn't help but ask.

Val nodded. "True facts."

"Who won?" I asked.

"An Asian guy," Val said.

Clover fist-pumped. "That's what I'm talking about!"

"They are SO not doing that this time," Yarrow said, looking like she wanted to fight whatever Gamemaker would consider it.

"Nah, they already did that," I said. Right when she relaxed I went on, "This time it will be by sexuality."

"What?!"

"Nu-uh!"

"They wouldn't."

"Team pan's gonna win!" Birdie cheered. "All the options, all the victory."

"Team ace since we don't get distracted," Yarrow preened.

"Team gay because we're gay," Kendall said.

"There's like a bajillion possible teams though," Trayne pointed out.

"Aw, you're right. Now we can't do it," Enzo said.

"So there's just like no food or shelter and we're going to have to get all that by ourselves?" Josie asked.

"We should start with the shelter," Virgo said.

"Look who's queen of the tribe that doesn't exist yet," Trayne said.

"What did you think we should do first?" Virgo asked.

"Shelter," Trayne said, smiling.

"I've never gone swimming before," Trydan said. Hos smile faded. "Is it really easy to drown?"

"I never have even once," Alara said.

It was so much fun just meeting everyone I had to remind myself this was invaluable strategizing time. Once we were divided into tribes I'd be with half these people every minute of the day and the other half I'd know almost nothing about. So what could I already file away? I mentally thanked the Gamemakers for labeling our seats so I could start learning names.

What do I know? Trayne was cool- that was about my first impression. I hoped we were on the same team. Val was a big character. That could be good or it could be bad. Enzo struck me as a bit of a prankster. Lana was really timid- she hadn't said anything since we all met. I could see her laughing along when someone else joked but she hadn't added anything of her own. Octavia seemed smart. She wasn't talking much either but it somehow seemed purposeful, not nervous like Lana. Trydan was already thinking practically. Kallik seemed standoffish and Cactus seemed like a really cool dude.

My stomach dropped just a little.

"Oh, I think we're landing!" Trayne blurted before I could. I looked at my seatmates and noticed Taylor looked a little sick. Not many roller coasters in Eight, I guessed.

"Oooooooooh…" Val said expectantly as the doors started cracking open, the sound of clicking seatbelts filling the air. I saw a sliver of blue sky and white clouds, then the beginnings of land, and then…

I have no idea what country this is.

Kallik- District Two female (18)

It's home.

It couldn't be. They couldn't have used my home for us. But what was I seeing then? We stood on the edge of gray-white cliffs leading down into ocean water. A dizzyingly high and thin waterfall split the rocks, sending up spray that misted the back of my neck. The grass under our feet spread to the edge of a thick forest of mostly evergreen trees as far as the horizon. And the smell in the air… It was the cold, crisp, spiced scent of a chilled but not frozen land untouched by civilization and still wild and lush. It wasn't home, I was sure, but it was a land just like it. Past the tugging ache in my heart as I suddenly thought of the home faraway, I smiled looking at the place so alike it.

The land around me was so wonderful I didn't notice Isabella at first. She stood at the opposite edge of the grassy clearing in a blue button-up shirt and beachy white pants, looking a bit shivery in the crisp air.

"Hello, contestants! You've been selected from all over Panem to participate in the show of a lifetime: the Survivor Hunger Games! Here on the beautiful island of Denmark-"

That's what it is!

"-you will be divided into two tribes to participate in challenges that will incorporate the scenery, history and culture of our host nation to win prizes and the all-important immunity. The tribe that does not win immunity will proceed to a tribal council where one of you will be voted out. The one of you who can outwit, outplay and outlast all the others will be crowned the Sole Survivor and win a million dollars."

We hadn't been told much before we left but the Gamemakers did mention the losers would get a smaller prize, larger for each round we stayed. I really had no idea how long I'd last, but I could do a lot of good with that kind of money.

Isabella bent to open a bag at her feet. "First, we've divided you into two tribes." She took out a handful of white cloths and tossed them as she spoke. "Ai, Birdie, Trydan, Clover, Kallik-" startled, I fumbled for and barely caught the bandanna- "Josie, Shep, Taylor, Leo, Yarrow and Val, you are on the Huldra tribe. Robbie, Rowena, Cactus, Alara, Virgo, Persi, Octavia, Enzo, Lana, Trayne, Dorian and Ambeynn, you're on the Ellekoner tribe." The members started putting on their red bandannas as my teammates and I sized each other up. Just about the only thing I could remember from the ride was Birdie was pan, which didn't seem like very relevant information.

"In these bags you'll find a map, your supply of bread and a single machete. Go ahead and make your way to your camps."

Guess we'll get to know each other on the way.

Some notes before I forget:

Voting is controlled by the submitters, like last time. There are a few submitters who have already stated they won't be involved to that level. That's fine. A Survivor Games is long and involved and I added this as a twist after people had already submitted, so they really didn't sign up for this much effort. Absent submitters' Tributes will be voted out by default not out of revenge but just because of the logistics of a Survivor Games controlled by submitter votes and how much an empty vote would mess that up. So the first few rounds won't need votes since I'll be removing the absent-submitter Tributes. I'll send out a note when only active Tributes are left.

THE QUESTION OF TAYLOR:

Taylor is my Tribute. She's active, technically. Normally I would kill her early since she's mine, but... Chaos Reigns. I'm going to be giving myself a vote, but I'll be nerfing myself hard lol. I'm still working out the details but my plan is to randomly assign Taylor to an alliance and always vote with the majority of that alliance. In the interest of fairness to all alliances I'll also be randomly generating when she switches alliances or backstabs. I will lock in Taylor's votes before I read the other votes but I will allow her allies to communicated via PM with me just as they can with other submitters. But that won't matter for a few rounds until the absent Tributes are gone.
