The next morning, Kim woke up feeling a bit off. She glanced at the calendar and realized she was late for her period.

A wave of concern washed over her as she quietly got out of bed and walked into the bathroom.

Jay, still groggy from his deep sleep, stirred and opened his eyes slightly. "Kim?" he mumbled, his voice thick with sleep.

Kim turned to him, trying to keep her voice calm. "Go back to sleep, baby. Everything's fine," she said softly, giving him a reassuring smile.

Jay nodded, too tired to question further, and closed his eyes again.

Kim watched him for a moment, her heart full of affection, before turning back to the bathroom.

She took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. "It's probably just stress," she whispered to herself, hoping to believe it. But the uncertainty gnawed at her as she prepared to take a pregnancy test, needing to know for sure.

As she waited for the results, her mind raced with possibilities and what-ifs. She knew that no matter what happened, she had Jay and the rest of the unit to support her.

The next morning, Kim walked upstairs, feeling lightheaded and unsteady. As she entered the bullpen, her vision blurred, and she nearly fainted. She stumbled, catching herself on a desk, but it was clear she was struggling.

The unit immediately noticed and rushed over. "Kim!" Kevin exclaimed, reaching her first and steadying her.

"What's going on?" Lindsay asked, her voice filled with concern.

Kim tried to speak, but her words came out in a whisper. "I don't feel so good," she managed to say before her knees buckled.

Adam and Antonio quickly moved to support her, guiding her to a chair. "Easy, Kim. Just sit down," Antonio said gently.

Voight, watching the scene unfold, stepped forward. "Someone get some water," he ordered, his voice calm but authoritative.

Jay, who had been working nearby, got up to the commotion.

He saw Kim surrounded by their friends and immediately felt a surge of worry. "Kim?" he called out, trying to get up.

Kim looked over at him, her face pale. "Go back to work, baby," she said softly, trying to reassure him despite her own condition.

Jay shook his head, determined to be by her side. "No, I'm coming," he insisted, slowly making his way over.

The unit members exchanged worried glances but focused on helping Kim. "Let's get her checked out," Voight said, his voice firm. "We need to make sure she's okay."

At Chicago Med, Natalie Manning was ready to check Kim over.

She guided Kim to an examination room and began her assessment. "Kim, can you tell me how you're feeling?" Natalie asked gently, her eyes full of concern.

Kim took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "I've been feeling really weak and lightheaded. I nearly fainted this morning," she explained.

Natalie nodded, making notes. "Have you had any other symptoms? Nausea, vomiting, fever?"

Kim hesitated for a moment. "Yes, all of those. And… I realized I'm late for my period," she added, her voice barely above a whisper.

Natalie looked up, her expression serious but kind. "Alright, Kim. Let's run some tests to see what's going on. It could be stress or something else, but we'll figure it out."

Kim nodded, feeling a mix of anxiety and relief. "Thank you, Natalie."

Natalie smiled reassuringly. "You're in good hands, Kim. We'll take care of you."

As Kim prepared to leave, Natalie smiled warmly and added, "Oh, and Kim, congratulations."

Kim blinked, her mind racing. "Congratulations? For what?"

Natalie handed her a small envelope with the test results. "You're pregnant, Kim. That's why you've been feeling so off lately."

Kim's eyes widened in shock and a mix of emotions washed over her. "Pregnant?" she whispered, her hand instinctively moving to her stomach.

Natalie nodded, her smile gentle. "Yes, it's early, but the test confirmed it. You'll need to take extra care of yourself now."

Kim felt tears welling up in her eyes, a mix of joy and fear. "Thank you, Natalie," she said, her voice trembling.

Natalie squeezed her hand reassuringly. "You're welcome, Kim. And remember, you have a great support system. You're not alone in this."

Kim nodded, feeling a sense of overwhelming gratitude. "I know. Thank you."

Kim walked out of the examination room, her mind still reeling from the news. As she entered the waiting area, the entire unit stood up, their faces filled with concern and anticipation.

Jay was the first to reach her, wrapping her in a tight hug. "Kim, are you okay?" he asked, his voice full of worry.

Kim hugged him back, tears streaming down her face. "I'm okay, Jay. I'm more than okay," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.

The rest of the unit gathered around, their expressions a mix of relief and curiosity. "What did the doctor say?" Kevin asked gently.

Kim took a deep breath, looking at her friends with a mixture of joy and nervousness. "I'm pregnant," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

There was a moment of stunned silence before the unit erupted in congratulations and support. "That's amazing news, Kim!" Lindsay exclaimed, her face lighting up with a smile.

"Congratulations!" Antonio added, clapping Jay on the back.

Adam grinned, his earlier nervousness replaced by genuine happiness. "Looks like we're going to have a new member of the team," he joked.

Voight stepped forward, his expression serious but kind. "We're all here for you, Kim. Whatever you need."

Kim nodded, feeling overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. "Thank you, everyone. It means a lot," she said, her voice filled with gratitude.

Jay held her close, his eyes shining with emotion. "We're going to get through this together, Kim. All of us," he said firmly.

opening the door to reveal a visibly drunk Pat Halstead.

"I need to see my son," Pat slurred, pushing past Adam and stumbling into the apartment.

Jay, hearing the commotion, got up from the couch, his expression hardening. "Pat, what are you doing here?" he snapped, immediately smelling the alcohol on his father.

Pat held his arms out, swaying slightly. "I came to see you, Jay," he said, his voice unsteady.

Jay's anger flared. "You're drunk. You need to leave," he said firmly.

Pat's face twisted in anger, and before anyone could react, he swung a punch at Jay, hitting him squarely in the jaw. Jay staggered back but quickly retaliated, shoving Pat away.

Pat raised his fist again, but before he could strike, Kevin, Antonio, and Adam rushed forward, grabbing him and pulling him back. "That's enough, Pat," Kevin said sternly.

"Get him out of here," Voight ordered, his voice cold and authoritative.

The boys dragged Pat out of the apartment, ignoring his drunken protests. As soon as the door closed behind them, Jay ran to the bathroom, slamming the door and locking it behind him.

The unit exchanged worried glances and quickly followed. "Jay, open the door," Lindsay called out, her voice filled with concern.

"Come on, man, let us in," Adam added, knocking gently.

Inside the bathroom, Jay leaned against the sink, his hands shaking.

He took deep breaths, trying to calm himself. Despite their pleas, he couldn't bring himself to unlock the door. He needed a moment alone to process everything.

Outside, the unit continued to offer their support. "We're not going anywhere, Jay," Voight said, his voice steady and reassuring. "Take your time, but we're here when you're ready."

It had been over two hours since Jay locked himself in the bathroom. The unit, growing increasingly worried, began to comment and bang on the door.

"Jay, come on, man. Open up," Kevin called out, his voice filled with concern.

"Yeah, we're all here for you," Lindsay added, knocking gently.

Jay let out a whimper from inside, his distress evident. Adam, feeling frustrated and helpless, started pounding on the door harder. "Jay, open the damn door!" he shouted.

Kim, seeing Adam's rising frustration, quickly intervened.

She grabbed his fists, wrapping his jacket around him to calm him down. "Adam, stop," she said firmly, guiding him away from the door. In his agitation, Adam stumbled and walked into the wall, momentarily disoriented.

The unit snapped at Adam, their own nerves frayed. "Take it easy, Ruzek," Voight said sternly. "We need to be patient."

Adam took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure. "I'm sorry, I just hate seeing him like this," he admitted, his voice filled with frustration and concern.

Kim nodded, understanding his feelings. "We all do, but we need to give him time," she said softly.

It had been over four hours, and the unit was getting severely worried. They pounded on the bathroom door, their anxiety growing with each passing minute.

"Jay, please open the door!" Lindsay called out, her voice filled with desperation.

"Come on, man, we're here for you!" Kevin added, banging harder.

Suddenly, they noticed water seeping out from under the door.

Panic set in as Kevin kicked the door open with all his strength.

The door flew open, revealing Jay submerged in the bathtub, unconscious.

"Jay!" Adam shouted, rushing forward. The unit quickly pulled Jay out of the water and laid him on the floor.

"Get on his chest, now!" Voight ordered, his voice urgent.

Kevin immediately began chest compressions while Lindsay checked for a pulse.

After a few tense moments, Jay coughed and spluttered, water and vomit spilling from his mouth. He broke into tears, his body shaking with sobs.

"It's okay, Jay. You're safe now," Kim said softly, her voice trembling with emotion as she held his hand.

The unit surrounded him, their faces filled with relief and concern. "We've got you, Jay," Antonio said, his voice steady and reassuring.

Jay continued to cry, overwhelmed by the events. "I'm sorry," he managed to choke out between sobs.

"There's nothing to be sorry for," Voight said firmly. "We're here for you, no matter what."

The unit carefully sat Jay on the couch, wrapping a blanket around him to keep him warm.

He shivered uncontrollably, coughing up more water. "Belly hurts," he mumbled weakly, his voice barely audible.

Kim knelt beside him, her hand gently rubbing his back. "I know, Jay. Just take it easy," she said softly. "You swallowed a lot of water."

Jay nodded, his eyes filled with pain and exhaustion. Kim continued to soothe him, her voice calm and reassuring. "We'll get you feeling better. Just try to relax."

The rest of the unit gathered around, their faces etched with concern. "We need to keep him warm and hydrated," Voight said, his voice steady.

Lindsay handed Kim a glass of water. "Here, Jay. Take small sips," she said gently.

Kim held the glass to Jay's lips, encouraging him to drink. "Water in, Jay. It'll help," she said softly.

Jay took a few small sips, wincing as his stomach protested. "Thanks," he whispered, his voice hoarse.

Kevin placed a comforting hand on Jay's shoulder. "You're going to be okay, man. We're all here for you."
