Let There Be Light
Chapter 24-As Time Goes By (Magical Thinking)
THE FINAL CHAPTER. The sisters get their happy ending. Shorter Chapter.
So life moved on.
It was easy to boil it all down to a single sentence like that but it was true. Life moved on. It got better and it got bad and it got better again in that contradictory way that life did. People moved on and they managed to move on with it. Still Charmed weather they liked it or not.
It was hard to boil down what the last eight years had meant. It had been painful and dangerous and joyful and tragic and broken and love and magic and lots of sisterly bonding.
She got her baby. Her Belinda. And compared to Prue her pregnancy had been normal. It was another baby girl, blonde hair from God knows where and what was described as a nice easy labour. She was not entirely sure what was nice or easy about it but she'd been told it was nice and easy by Shelia Morris who was far too put together to drop the baby bathed in purple smoke.
Cole had, had the drinks ready though and she'd needed two straight shots before she could speak but that was easy money as far as Paige was concerned.
Zankou had been thrilled.
Total Girl Dad.
It was nice. It allowed her to turn back to her inner whitelighter and focus on that part of herself. With Zankou now running the Underworld it worked out well. Demons were still allowed to be demons but they came after their own family at their own peril. Her daughter too had powers. She could move things by saying them they discovered one day when she successfully said spoon—but they shimmered to her rather than orbed.
Zankou had been gleeful for months.
Smug git.
It was a grey area as Piper said. But while there were grey areas in the world there was going to be grey area's in magic too and they just had to find a way to live with it.
But she was happy. She had found her inner balance, her inner peace, her happiness at last. Billie was learning to walk, she had a man who she could kiss when she came home from work, she was back to social working now the job that had inspired her so much from the day she knew she was to become a mother. Magic had forced her in a way to give it up but now she was back at it. The thing that she loved. The thing that she was good at.
Helping people.
Phoebe and Cole remained Phoebe and Cole and had their baby girl, their baby girl that did not break the traditions that Paige had broken and was named with a P. Paisley Shannon Halliwell-Turner had been born and all had been right in their world.
Until it wasn't.
Sadly there had been a miscarriage and then a long hard pregnancy and a long hard labour and then a little boy with Cole's bright eyes. That had been the end of Phoebe's children though, the Doctor his face sympathetic had told her that two was more than her body could take.
Paige knew her sister had been sad about that for a while but little Cole Jr had been enough for both of them. Any kid that could throw fireballs—even if they were small to start with—kept a family on their toes. Seriously…ever room in the house now had a fire extinguisher.
Cole ran the club in Piper's absence and he was good at it. Something about his silky persuasion mixed in with his deadly negotiating skills saw him book the best bands and the best people. He managed to keep a balance though letting Shelia use the club for her woman's groups in the morning—Daryl for the life of him could not understand it but as he was busy being promoted to Captain (after a long vacation with little umbrella's in the drinks—why he thought that was an important thing to note she would never know) but the two of them worked quite well.
Shelia took the club for her work with at risk kids during the day and the keys were taken by Cole during the night time. They were Phoebe and Cole, the great love story that had defied all the odds, proof that happy endings could happen to everyone if they just believed in it enough. Phoebe and Cole. True love right there.
Piper and Leo.
Well…what does one say about Piper and Leo that one hasn't seen before. All that they had gone through, all that they had overcome. Of course they were still standing, of course they were still happy.
There were two boys before the little girl that Piper had seen in her future. Wyatt Matthew, Chris Perry. Chris coming back from the future to warn them about what was happening and being able to stop Gideon.
There had been drama in both pregnancies of the magical kind (but you all know about that) but when Patricia Melinda Halliwell with her telekinesis powers that she had gotten from her Aunt Prue and her shock of dark hair came early one Christmas. A little present that nobody had been expecting not least Leo who'd had to rely on his World War Two training and deliver the baby.
As he had said windswept and terrified an hour later when Piper was feeding their baby and Zankou was dumping a good amount of scotch into his glass, the Army had not prepared him for live birth.
But after that they were done. Wyatt and Chris grew up free from the danger that had turned to the world to hell in a handbasket, they grew up as brothers and friends with the added addition of their little sister. And Piper now the club was in good hands finally managed to open the restaurant that she had always dreamed off.
Leo…Leo stayed the born teacher that he was gently guiding the next generation of magic. He was even joined by some ex students, Duncan who helped with the younger children and Zachary one day slinking back in and asking for a second change that he had not thought he deserved and that Leo was only too glad to give him.
And life was good.
And then there was Prue and Andy, the consummate love story that had started this whole mess. The couple that should have died and had instead lived.
Their baby boy was born one morning. Peter Andrew Trudeau.
The day the Source was finally vanquished.
After Peter there was Anna.
And there was peace.
It was an odd thing to say but it was peaceful. They had not expected that but there it was.
And one day they stood and wrote the book on the what was coming for the next generation.
They wrote what they wanted to hear, they wrote what the next generation needed to hear.
They wrote their legacy.
It had taken eight years and eight countless demons for it to be managed. It had taken more than either one of them had wanted to admit.
More than there was time to write about.
And yet there were here.
"Enough writing about how were forever charmed" Phoebe had said with an eyeroll. "Let's get the kids organised before they cause chaos"
Everyone separated and laughed and carried on living as normal and Andy pulled backwards to go into the kitchen only to find Prue staring at the open door. Next to it were the pictures of their family, Victor, Patty, Penny…all of the dead and the living and the never gone mixed together.
Prue pointed her fingers at the door and it shut on it's own accord the sun shining off the stained glass and then she turned and held out her hand and Andy took it—there was never a moment where he wouldn't take it—and they carried on towards their perfectly unnormal, magical life.
Together.
As it was always meant to be.
Paige watched her sister as if she was watching her from a far away glance and then she turned and looked back at Zankou who had Billie on his hip.
They were Charmed.
That night she slipped back to bed to join the man she loved and they stayed there for a while.
"What are you thinking about my love?"
"Nothing much. Just what we are going to do today"
Zankou smiled at her.
As she got dressed she saw that the front door was slightly open and she smiled as the saying without any reason popped into her head.
Something Wicca This Way Comes.
Something Wicca This Way Goes.
Forever Charmed.
Yeah Paige thought grinning.
That sounded about right.
And yeah...not one hundred percent happy but there you go, I hope you enjoyed it and I hope to see you soon.
I wish each and every one of you health and happiness.
