Chapter Ten – The Roman Inquisition
The McMahon Compound, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Roman Reigns looked up at the sky as a giant red condor descended on the huge palatial estate that was hosting the most important meeting in DX family history. On top of that condor was Seth and Havana Rollins and Lisa and Cameron Michaels.
"Where's Sasha?" Roman asked Seth as they came over to meet with him, everyone else was inside waiting for their arrival.
"The Golden Goddess got her," Seth replied. "She's Golden Sasha now and she's on her way here,"
Roman looked at Seth amazed, "How did the Golden Goddess get her, weren't you with her?" he asked confused and Seth's face soured.
"Roman I really don't wanna talk about it, we better go inside and start this meeting," Seth said but Roman held him back.
"What happened to Sasha?" Roman demanded gripping Seth's arm aggressively and Seth pulled his arm back just as aggressively.
"I said I don't want to talk about it, so just drop it okay?" Seth insisted and Havana muscled herself between the Shield brothers with a normal sized Connie on her shoulder.
"Will you two knock it off?" she snapped. "Mom's on her way here and we need a plan. She was already crazy now she's golden and Daddy, she's coming to take a bite out of that a**,"
"Watch your language Hav," Seth said and he subconsciously rubbed his behind as if there were already teeth marks there.
"I wanna know what happened to your mother Havana but your father won't tell me how the Golden Goddess got to her," Roman said. "I'm asking because my son is going to wonder why his Mom ain't here with the rest of you,"
"She'll be here soon enough Uncle Roman," Havana replied and she squeezed her father's hand lovingly.
"Roman, it's been a long day and we're only just getting started with this thing, so can you please spare me your accusations so we can go inside and start this thing?" Seth said and Roman grew anxious over what had happened between Seth and Sasha in California.
"Havana go inside with Aunt LC and Uncle Cameron, I need to talk to your father alone," Roman said and Havana did as she was told and left her father to be cross examined by the Tribal Chief. "I'm gonna ask you one more time Seth, what happened to Sasha? How did the Golden Goddess get to her?"
"I'm done with this conversation, I'm going inside," Seth said turning to leave but Roman whipped him back around to face him.
"Why won't you answer my question?" Roman inquired.
"Because it has nothing to do with you Roman," Seth replied. "I made a decision to protect my daughter and everyone else and I don't need to run it by you. I'm the leader of the God Girls and I answer to God, not the almighty Roman Reigns,"
Roman folded his arms across his chest and stared Seth down, "So, what decision did you make?" he asked and Seth took a deep breath and pulled his hair back from his face to alleviate the stress he was now facing because of his obsessive old friend.
"I decided that it would be best if Sasha didn't come with us to this meeting. The Golden Goddess invaded our home and I thought it would be dangerous for her to keep tracking us across the country. To stop the Golden Goddess from following us to Florida, I had to make a decision and that decision was to…"
Roman waited for Seth to finish his sentence, "Your decision was to what?" Roman asked him but Seth was having a hard time getting the words out.
"My decision was to -"
"His decision was to do the right thing Roman," came the ever supportive voice of Bianca Belair who ran over to Seth with the other God Girls, who quickly took Seth inside to escape the Roman Inquisition.
"He didn't tell me what happened. When a man doesn't show up to a major meeting with his wife, something's wrong," Roman said and Bianca could tell he was genuinely worried about Sasha. "I need to tell my son that his Mom is okay,"
"I really think you need to be asking Seth if he's okay," Bianca said. "What he did today was hard enough but it pales in comparison to what's coming next,"
"And I bet you're so happy about this aren't you?" Roman said to Bianca disparagingly and Seth's Treasurer of Secrets shook her head.
"No, I'm not happy about what happened to Sasha. The last thing any of the God Girls wanted was for Sasha to be captured by the Golden Goddess, but we have many other people to worry about now that the Golden Goddess has Sasha. She's going to use Sasha to destroy a lot of people and we have to make sure that doesn't happen," Bianca said adamantly.
"Okay just tell me one thing," Roman asked Bianca, "when this is over, will Sasha be okay?"
Bianca shook her head, "That's up to Sasha, I don't know how much grace God's got left to give her but I know its a lot and I know we all want her to make it through to the other side of this fight," she replied and she leaned in and stared into Roman's eyes, "but it's a fight we can't afford to lose Roman. If the Golden Goddess isn't stopped, many lives will be lost, including Sasha's,"
Roman nodded, "Okay, I'm sorry I accused you of wanting this to happen, that was me being a jerk and I was out of line," he said.
"That's okay I'm not worried about what people think, I'm more concerned with completing this assignment," Bianca said and Roman nodded but there was so much he wanted to say to the EST about Seth, but now just wasn't the time.
"I need to apologise to Seth," Roman said and he ran into the house leaving Bianca to her thoughts of which there were many, one of which being how much distance there should be between her and Seth. If Sasha saw them together when she arrived, it would make things even worse.
"Hey Melo," Bianca said as Carmelo Hayes arrived with Gigi Dolan and Naomi who frowned at her greeting.
"Why she saying hi to you?" Naomi asked Melo who shrugged nonchalantly.
"Because I'm Melo, all the girls say hi to me," he replied and Naomi and Gigi gave Bianca a dirty look as they walked into the compound waiting for Sasha and the rest of BAE to arrive.
"Sorry I didn't mean to single you out like that," Bianca said. "Something happened in California. The Golden Goddess got to Sasha,"
Melo frowned, "Who's the Golden Goddess?" he asked curiously.
"She's bad news and Sasha is being used by her to destroy us. Any member of BAE can be consumed by her, so we need to protect Naomi and Gigi from her when she gets here. I need you to sit in-between them; she won't get to them if you're near because you're anointed," Bianca explained.
"What about you, where will you be?" Melo asked concerned and Bianca furrowed her brow.
"What is that supposed to mean?" she asked annoyed at Melo's question.
"Nothing," Melo replied. "It's just that I know breakups can be hard, especially when the person who broke up with you is most likely gonna show up here in a few minutes with his new fiancé,"
"I forgot all about them," Bianca said, holding her head remembering that Rhea Ripley and Montez Ford were going to be coming to the meeting as-well. "The God Girls are going to be super busy today,"
"So, you'll be sitting in-between them right, so the Golden Goddess can't get to them?" Melo said and Bianca nodded.
"Yes, that's exactly what I'll be doing," Bianca replied through a clenched jaw. It was the last thing she wanted to do.
"Good, so then you'll be nowhere near Seth Rollins, I'll be right by him so you don't have to be," Melo said and Bianca nodded.
"Yes that's a great idea, you stay close to Seth," Bianca said, "I mean I am his Treasurer of Secrets and his Right Hand God Girl so I would normally be near Seth, but since you're on our team now, you could stand in for me, for one night at least,"
As Bianca started to ramble it was very clear to Melo what his assignment was: to keep Seth and Bianca as far apart as possible.
"Let's go inside before people start talking about us," Melo said and when he touched Bianca's hand, all her thoughts about Seth were replaced with thoughts of love and of peace and of God.
All eyes were on Bianca and Melo as they walked into the compound holding hands, it was most amusing to Hunter and Stephanie who instantly poked fun at them.
"Wow Melo, you really don't miss do you?" Stephanie said and Hunter nodded.
"When he shoots he scores!" Hunter added and everyone made their comments on Bianca Belair apparently moving on after her divorce with Carmelo Hayes.
"Ignore them Melo," Beth Hardy said as Melo released Bianca's hand and sat right next to Seth while she sat in-between a most puzzled Naomi and Gigi.
"Ew, God Girl germs!" Gigi Dolan complained and Naomi made a gesture like Bianca's braid smelled bad.
"I'm here to save your lives girls, so learn to love me because I'm your only hope of making it out of here alive," Bianca said and Gigi and Naomi laughed thinking Bianca was insane.
"God, you really are delusional. No wonder 'Tez is leaving you for Rhea," Gigi said before getting in Bianca's face, "and if you think about making a move on Melo, I'll snap you in half,"
Bianca ignored Gigi's taunts but it was much harder to ignore the look on Seth's face. The leader of the God Girls had been through so much and there was nothing she could do to comfort him, or anything him. Stop it B, just focus on the assignment, stop thinking about Seth, she admonished herself, as her thoughts about Seth continued to go down a very different road. Perfection ran around the living room with Havana, Abiyah, Rebecca Rogan and Mela del Rosa. Pfifer Rock crawled across the floor to join them but Bayley soon picked her up.
"You're too young to join them Pfifer," she said handing her baby to Becky Lynch, "here, you could use the practice,"
"Very funny," Becky said much to Finn's amusement but things were about to take a much more serious tone as Linda McMahon arrived.
