Sorry for my bad English.

Too much happened to the series. Volume 9 was not the best in my book, WB shut down RT, and the series was put on hiatus until they were now buy by Viz to continue the series.

I don't think having another company taking care of the series will make it good again, or at least acceptable but this must be only me being pesimistic.

We can only hope for the best in the future.

Now, to the fic!

Vale

Future Company

Of all the problems Unicorn could put herself in, she had to be somewhat mixed with whatever the hell was happening with Glynda.

Crossing the park, she saw that Vale was in a state of panic worse than during the Grimm invasion. When did all this happen?

Ambulances were parked around, wounded people writhing in pain on the ground, buildings were slowly crumbling down and the authorities seemed to have their hands full.

She wanted nothing more than to give them a hand but this would put Unicorn longer in the hands of the angels and if there is something Glynda learned in those two days, those angels are more dangerous than most of the Grimms she ever met.

Finally walking past the park, she quickened her pace and went to the building of the Future Company. As she approached, Glynda could feel the presence of those divine monstrosities somewhere in the building.

She did not have time to identify herself as she barged through the gates and made her way to the entrance.

If she was not so worried, she would have noticed the lack of security guards at the gates.

And on top of the building, someone had just finished his pizza when he noticed the woman approaching the building. Even from the top of the huge construction, he could feel the power similar to a Lumen Sage. While confused, he was sure she was an Umbra Witch, so he put those thoughts aside.

A job was still a job.

So, leaping down, he fell with the speed increasing with each second. Glynda was just a few meters from the entrance when something came crashing in front of her. She immediately raised a barrier to block all the flying rocks.

When the dirty smoke dissipated, she was face to face with a man with silver hair wearing a long red cloth. In his back, she could see the handle of a huge sword and he was holding a black and silver revolver.

Something about this man had Glynda shivering and put her on high alert. Raising her crop, she glared at the man who just gave her a smug smirk.

-Who are you? -Glynda asked.

-The name's Dante. -He began. -And you seem to be surrounded by a lot of trouble. -And pointed his guns towards her.

Glynda's frown became noticeable as she suspected this man was with those who attacked her. Something about him reminds him of the redhead she fought inside the temple. He was surrounded by a dark aura, one she could tell it was a demoniac one.

Whoever Dante was, he was trouble.

Trouble she needed to deal with.

Beacon

Courtyard

When Jaune returned to Beacon, was met with a few problems.

The school grounds were empty except for the staff, all the students were removed after the attack of the mysterious creature that no one could see.

While he would just find his team and friends, he had his orders and looked around for the blind teacher.

Fernando was in one of the benches, head down and not moving. At first, Jaune thought he was taking a nap but knew he would not let his guard down in a situation like this. So when he approached, the man raised his head, waiting for the blonde boy to make his presence known, even if he already knew it was Jaune.

He wonders how he does that.

-Mr. Minuano. -Jaune began.

I'm glad to see you are safe. -Fernando replied. -Your team is fine. They are with the rest of the students.

-Since everything seems to be in order, I will join them.

-I am afraid this will not be a possibility, Mr. Arc.

-What do you mean?

-You somehow also are related to whatever is happening in the school and since no one can see those creatures lurking around Beacon, fighting against them would be almost impossible. -The blind samurai explained. -Put your near your team, friends, and classmates would put them in danger.

-But I can!

-You can?

-Yeah, I saw those creatures in that golden forest.

-Golden forest? -Fernando asked.

Jaune proceeded to explain everything that happened to him. From his trip to Paradiso, the fight in the temple where he got separated from his teacher, the time alone in the forest until Glynda found him, the trip in the cave, and their return to Vale.

Fernando listened to all and got into deep thought. This thing with Glynda and the four revolvers, the summoning of the creature, whatever is happening she clearly is the center of all.

It's nice to know you are a potential adversary against those creatures...

-Angels. -Jaune corrected.

-Angels. -Fernando conceded. -But I still can't let you near the others with the possibility they will come after you. You alone will not be able to do much amidst a big crowd.

-But there's no place else. -Jaune argued. -Where I could be that the angels would not bother to come after me?

Fernando thought.

Future Company

Front Gate

Deal with the silver-haired man was proving to be harder than Glynda expected.

She summoned icicles to shoot against him, but he easily reduced each to snowflakes with a few shots of his guns. She shot aura projectiles against him, only for him to dodge each while moving like a feather.

When he pressed on the attack, she found herself having difficulty in repealing his strikes, which carried both skill and strength.

And to further anger her, he seemed to take his sweet time just to look good in doing his movements. His arrogant smirk never left his face.

When he dodged more of her aura projectiles, he was in reach for his long sword to strike her. She used her riding crop, covered in her aura, to block and repeal his strikes, but found herself stepping back with each swim she was forced to block.

At some point, she held the strike with her crop but had to use her other hand to hold her wrist to keep the blade from coming down. Her eyes then widened seeing he was pointing his black revolver to her face.

The loud bang echoed and Glynda barely reacted in time, the bullet grazing the skin of her cheek and she fell in her ear. But before her posterior connected to the ground, a cut appeared in her skirt.

-Why you... -Glynda growled.

-A little advice, choose a better outfit while doing your job. -Dante commented, the blade of his sword on the ground and leaning his chin on the handle.

She could see he was underestimating her. The cut in her pencil skirt allowed her better movement, a small advantage.

Glynda growled and raised her crop, the ground on either side of Dante opened in two squares and squashed him.

-Good enough for you? -Glynda asked.

-A little. -Come his voice from behind.

She turned around with her eyes widened in surprise. She didn't even see him move!

Quickly recovering from her surprise, she evoked her aura whip, lashing against her silver-haired foe.

Dante saw the strikes and blocked with his huge sword, dodging some as well. Spinning his sword, he charged against Glynda with a lunge. Glynda raises a barrier and blocks the first lunge, but more are followed with incredible speed.

Her eyes widened again seeing the cracks in her barrier before was broke. The impact of the barrier breaking made her stumble back, nearly losing her balance while Dante seemed to grow bored.

-C'mon. -Dante said. -I thought you could teach me a thing or two, 'teacher'.

Glynda growled and evoked a small storm, covering the air above Dante with clouds and raining icicles against the arrogant man.

He however just walked, avoiding all the falling icicles without making any move to dodge, just calmly walking towards her.

-Nice tricks. -Dante taunted. -You do birthday parties too?

-Your impudent... -Glynda growled, raising chunks of rocks and debris to involve around Dante.

Dante just smirked and put his hand on his sword and a second later, all the rocks and debris were reduced to dust.

Dante charged against Glynda, swinging his sword and forcing Glynda on the defensive. She did not have time to raise a barrier, just to cover her crop with her aura and use it to block the swings of the huge sword.

She was doing her absolute best to defend herself while he seemed to be playing around with her, his sword strikes could carry more strength and yet she could tell he was holding back.

She tried to use a small shockwave to push Dante away, but he seemed to see it coming and leaped in the air, avoiding it and bringing down his sword in a vertical cut.

Glynda's eyes widened, she would have no time to react, to block, and could only rely on her aura to hold the strike.

The cut came down.

But instead of feeling someone being hit by his blade, Dante felt nothing. Then he heard the sound of bees, the black and yellow insects flew around him but not attacked. Instead, they flew away before gathering closer, and in the blink of an eye, Glynda was back.

-I-I still can do that? -She wondered.

She thought would only be able to do it while in Paradiso but turns out, she still could do it while in Vale.

-Finally taking this game seriously, sweetheart? -Dante asked.

-I assure you this is not a game, Mr. Dante. -Glynda challenged.

Concentrating, she was able to summon the four revolvers and she clearly remembers her battle with Grace and Glory and how she somehow has that supernatural strength.

She only hopes to still have access to that power.

-Alright! -Dante stated and aimed both his revolvers against Glynda.

The moment he pulled the triggers, her eyes widened and made to move. It was when she felt the sensation of running on four legs, transformed into the yellow fox form. She wanted to slap herself on the forehead, forgetting she did her transformation while still in Vale.

Despite not being able to land a solid shot on Glynda, Dante continued to smirk as the transformed huntress approached him. Seeing she was after a close combat, he put one of his pistols back and held the silver one.

Glynda leaped in the air, transformed back, and with both pistols in hands, opened fire against Dante. Only for the man in the red coat to open fire with the single pistol in his hand, intercepting Glynda's shots with his own.

Glynda did not have time to be surprised once she landed in front of him, swinging the pistols and trying to land a successful hit against her arrogant opponent. But she ends up surprised seeing him repealing her attacks with one pistol alone.

She moved and pulled the triggers, acting only by muscle memory, trying to land a solid hit or a good shot. But he managed to push her pistols away and dodge the shots with little to no problem.

This man, Dante, was showing a skill that could be far superior to any ally she fought alongside, and enemy she ever fought. If he was a huntsman, probably would be one of the best.

Gunfire roared around the front door of the Future Company, the loud sounds muffling Glynda's groans as she not only failed to land a single hit against Dante but was also forced to watch his cocky smirk up close.

She would have to use all her new abilities plus her skills as a huntress if she wanted to have a chance.

She knew.

While repealing another of Glynda's revolvers, making the shot hit the wall behind him, he notices her other hand was once again holding her riding crop. He felt an invisible force hold onto his arms, and Glynda quickly pointed the revolver to his face.

But Dante was not out of his own tricks. He held on to the invisible force and jumped out of the way from the revolver's aim. He broke free from the force and repealed Glynda's revolver, which she planned to aim at his chest.

But then, he felt something on his leg when he tried to move, a small barrier blocking the way of his movement. Glynda then shot an aura projectile from her crop, making roam around. With Dante's eyes following the purple projectile, Glynda aimed at his face and pulled the trigger.

But he just tilted his head slightly and avoided the bullet and with a spin, dodged the purple shot Glynda planned to use as a backup strike.

Glynda changed tactics and proceeded to use kicks, which Dante blocked. When she aimed one at his head, he put the wrist to block, only for Glynda to separate into bees again. She put herself together once she was on his back, continuing where she stopped.

But he threw himself to the same side her kick was coming, maneuvering his body in midair and landing on his feet while facing Glynda, his pistol aimed at her face. She rolled back the moment he pulled the trigger, barely avoiding his shot.

She got herself on her knee but had no time to get up seeing his blade pointing to her neck.

She glared at him while he eyed her with that damn smirk still on his face.

-What are you waiting for? -Glynda asked.

-Answers. -He answered.

-Answers?

-These angels, why are they coming to this city? -Dante asked.

-They... seem to be after me. -She answered.

-Why? -He asked.

-I... don't know. -Glynda answered.

-Despite using the same type of power, you don't know? -He asked back.

The same type of power? -Glynda whispered.

Are her powers somewhat related to the angels? That's why they are after her? But what does transforming into a fox and bees has to do with angels?

And just when Dante was about to press further in the matter, he turned his face away from Glynda to some direction, as if something caught his attention. Glynda thought about taking advantage of his moment of distraction and attack but knew this would be useless.

Fortunately for her, she would not need to as Dante put his sword on his back and walked away from Glynda.

-Looks like we will have to leave this chat for later. -He said and leaped over the gate of the building.

Glynda watched him go, not knowing how to proceed. He had the advantage and yet, he let her go. Why?

She eventually put those thoughts aside, remembering the reason she came to the building of the Future Company in the first place.

Unicorn is somewhere in this building and the longer she takes, the more danger she may find herself in.

Paradiso

Another Affinity fell dead after Unicorn defeated another group.

It had been a while since she found herself in that place and was already bored with fighting and walking around. The battery of her headphones already run out and she had to content with the silence of those golden woods.

She ends up finding a small temple and decides to check. While not finding anything worthy of her attention, she found a strange box on an altar. Curiosity got the best of her and she decided to open the box, cutting the chains and opening it.

What she found inside however surprised her.

-This is so old school. -Unicorn commented, taking the golden vinyl disc.

End of the chapter.

I don't think I portrayed Dante well. I only played the first three Devil May Cry games so I tried my best. One of the reason I wanted to add him to this story, despite feeling there was no need, it was because I discovered when I played Bayonetta for the first time that they have the same creator.

If him will be a good addition, only time will tell.

That's all folks, see you next time!
