Scorpius hurried back into his secret castle, footsteps echoing in the hall. Going left and turning left in a small hallway, he did a secret knock, tapping his cane on the floor with impatience as he waited for the door to open.
A woman with fiery red hair opened the door a crack, peeking out. Then, seeing it was Scorpius, she shooed him in. "What plan are hatching this time?" she asked, as he sat down in the hair and makeup chair. "That Ivy girl has ambitions and isn't one to give up quickly. What she doesn't know is I could make her dreams come true." Scarlett, his makeup and hair attendant sighed. "Aren't you just using her for your advantage?" "Of course, and it will be a hard no if she saw my actual face." Scorpius sighed, staring at the twisted lines that went from his jaw down to his collarbone. Thus why he wore a mask so no one would see the marks.
"I'll give you credit, your not one to give easily either. But Ladybug is a clever girl, and Cat may seem goofy and playful but he can be deadly if provoked enough." "Oh, I'm not worried about that. Not this time."
Scorpius hurried back through the secret tunnel that connected his castle with the school's. After the brief encounter with Cat Noir, he was now extra cautious. He wore a disguise and a painted face, perfect for fitting in.
Hiding in the shadows, he waited for Ivy to finish dinner, and at last he saw her, heels clicking away on the floor.
"Ah, Ivy, just the girl I was waiting for!" Scorpius stepped forward, giving the girl a bow. Ivy looked up from her phone. "Who are you?" she asked in a bored tone. "They call me the Butterfly Man, and I can make your dreams come true!" "You mean it? You can make me a singer?" Scorpius motioned closer, lowering his voice. "You see this butterfly here?" she gave a look of disgust as she watched it fluttering around inside the cane, but nodded. "Its your ticket everything you want. It just needs to go inside an object of yours. Like your phone or wallet.." "My phone?" Ivy shrieked, clutching it to her chest. "Shh, keep your voice down. If you are unwilling, I could always find other…."
"No!" Ivy tugged on his sleeve. "I'll be fine." "Very well, here is your butterfly," Scorpius watched it flutter into the girl's phone, and after a brief conversation via the mask, her outfit changed. Ivy now looked bird-like and gave a couple of trills.
"Its homework and maybe a late night snack or munchies for me. I want to brush up on some skills before heading off to bed," I tell Cat as we hang in the hallway. He has his hands lightly at my waist, while I my hands around his neck. "Am I allowed to sleepwalk to the Training Hall and steal your munchies?" he jokes. I laugh, kissing him. "Do you want all of your nine lives?" Cat pretends to shocked. "Don't you want your kitty fed and happy?" I flick at his bell. "Your fed three times a day, and its way fancier then a bowl." "Your mean, you know that?" he finds the shell of my ear. The world grows a bit fuzzy as his warm breath tickles my ear….those green eyes mesmerizing. Th world does not exist right now outside our bubble.
That is, until we hear a lovely sound. "Where is that coming from?" Cat pushes me away gently, unhooking his baton. Other students echo his question, and the singing seems to be coming from the direction of the gardens.
"Its so lovely," more and more and students flock into the halls, but I smell trouble and it isn't the rumored mystery loaf. "Fellow students," I yell above the crowd. "Let Ladybug and I check things out, for it could be one of the Scorpius traps. Shall we take a stroll, M'lady?" I offer her my arm.
We're cautious, ducking and weaving in the shadow, slowly making it up to the battlements. "Is that…" Ladybug slides open her compact and zooms in with her camera. "Its Ivy, and she looks like a bird!" "Singing like one too!" "She been a akumatized, but why and how?" We answer at the same time, reading each others thoughts. "Scorpius!" "Come on, let's go down and see what we can find out." "Okay, but put in your earpiece in case we get separated."
"Ivy, what are you doing and what are you wearing?" I ask, coming over to her swing. Her voice is bird-like and chirpy. "I made a deal with a very rich man, who made me a promise if I delivered. And here I am." "What did this man promise, and what did you do?" "He made me an amazing singer and now the world will love me!" she squawks, hitting a sour note. "Ivy, this is pretend. With proper lessons maybe you could be a amazing singer. But this is a false dream! Please, let us help you!"
Instantly, Ivy's face changes from pale and happy, to one red with rage. Even the yellow color drains away, in its place now a fiery red dress and feathers. "No, you shall never take my gift! I've always wanted to be loved and adored and no pesky and cat and bug are taking that away from me!"
She leaps towards us, and I shout, "Ladybug, look out!" I dive in front of her, knocking her out of the way, into a flowerbed. Ivy curls her talon-like hands. "You should fear me," she cackles as I hover over Ladybug protecting her. "For I am now the Bird Of Wrath!"
Thinking quickly, I scoop Ladybug up, and using my baton as a springboard I launch us into the trees. But Ivy can follow us, and I hear the swish of wings. Is this one fight we cannot win?
