After observing Everly overnight the hospital discharged her in the morning. When they got home Asher's siblings were sitting on the front porch Eden, Jack, Jacob, Mitch and Sienna. Asher immediately reversed out of the driveway.
"I told you this was a bad idea," Leo said, crossing his arms.
"Why," Eden asked.
"Asher is pissed," Mitch said, "Renee really hurt Everly. But she was wrong. What Renee did is wrong."
"I told her to stop," Eden said, "I told her Everly didn't like it."
"I know," Sierra said, "I heard you. I told her."
"Then why did no one tell Allison or Asher," Leo asked.
"Allie was talking to grandma," Jordan said.
"I was going to tell her after," Sierra said.
"Have you told your parents," Leo asked.
"We have," Mitch replied, "Sierra and I don't live there."
"Renee gets mad," Jack said.
"Not an excuse," Leo replied.
Owen pulled into the driveway with Teddy right behind him.
"Why are you guys here," Teddy asked, recognizing Asher's siblings.
"We wanted to say sorry," Mitch said, "what happened last night was wrong."
"Allison and Asher have no mental capacity to deal with you today," Teddy said, "the best thing you can do to help is cooperate with the investigation. The police are involved."
"Renee is 16," Mitch said.
"She's old enough to know better," Leo growled.
"How old is everyone," Owen asked.
"Sierra and I are 18," Mitch said, "Renee is 16, Jack in 13, Jordan is 11 and Eden is 9."
"The police will probably talk with Jordan and up," Owen said, "please cooperate with them."
"I saw it," Eden said, "I told her Everly didn't like it. I said no. Everly said no and oww."
Teddy took a softer approach with the young girl, "Eden can you tell me what happened please?"
"Everly tripped and hit Renne with her crutches but it was by accident," Eden said, "there was something on the floor and Everly didn't mean to trip she just did. Then Renee got mad and told her to walk right and kept putting things where Everly would fall then tickling her to make her fall over."
"Did Everly ever bump her head," Owen asked.
"No," Eden said, "Renee kept getting mad that Everly would fall and was in her space so Everly was trying to use her crutches to get Renee to go away. Then Renee picked her up and threw her on the couch and Everly was saying no but Renee didn't listen."
"Thank you for telling us," Teddy said, "I know that's hard."
"Are we in trouble," Eden asked.
"No," Teddy said, "not you. The people who hurt Everly probably will be."
"Mrs Altman," Mitch said.
"Dr," Teddy corrected.
"Dr Altman," Mitch said, "Renee needs help. I didn't get it for a long time but Sierra and I are having a baby in June and our baby can't be around her."
"Okay," Teddy agreed, "you have to avoid Renee. I've seen this before but this today is not a good idea. Let Asher, Allison and Everly come home and have some quiet time. The three of them then call. Maybe send them a meal but ambushing them in the driveway today is not how to go about this."
"Please leave them alone today," Owen said, "they know you came."
Asher called Owen, "hey Owen do you know why my siblings are on your porch."
"To check on you guys," Owen replied, "Eden has told Teddy exactly how Ev got hurt."
"Can you ask them to leave," Asher said, "Allison started crying the minute she saw them. We didn't even put the truck in park."
"We have," Owen said, "we've encouraged them to tell the police and cooperate."
"Renee is a minor," Asher said.
"She is but this can't be allowed to happen," Owen said, "it's assault at the least."
The police showed up at the Blouins house demanding to see Renee.
"We need to see Renee Blouin," the officer said.
"No," mark said.
"Sir she is being questioned about assault of a minor," the officer said, "she needs to come with us for questioning
"She is a minor," Mark said, "we are aware of what happened last night."
"We need to speak to her," the officer said.
Michelle dragged Renee to the front door.
"No," Renee said, "I won't speak to them."
"Miss Blouin," the officer said, "we need to speak with you about a possible charged for assult and child abuse."
"How," Renee asked.
The officer told Renee what her rights were.
"We need to speak with you at the station," the police officer.
"We'll come with her," Mark said, "Renee whatever you do be completely honest."
"You can drive separately," the officer said.
"Has she been charged," Mark asked.
"Not yet," the officer said, "I've spoken with the victim's parents and they are going to press chargers."
"Asher is going to charge me," Renee said.
"This is serious Renee," Mark said, "your siblings left this morning. Mitch came and got them. They all went to Asher's and aren't coming home until this is dealt with.'
"We need to go to the station," Officer said.
"Do I have to," Renee asked.
"You do," the officer replied.
Realising she had no choice, Renee and her parents followed the officer outside.
'This is bad,' Mark said to Michelle in the car.
"She's the reason we don't see Asher," Michelle said, "and after that we wont see Mitch and Sierra."
"We need to send her away," Mark said, "to a program."
"She needs help," Michelle agreed, "Mark she's been getting more violent."
"We have to deal with it," Mark said, 'before we lose another son."
Asher pulled the truck back into the driveway and put it in park. They ignored that his siblings were still on the porch as they got Everly out of her car seat.
"Asher," Mitch said, coming over, "we're sorry about last night."
"No," Asher snapped, ``you don't get to come over here and apologise you're part of it."
"Eden and I told Renee to stop," Sierra said, "I didn't get Everly out of there and I should have, I'm sorry."
"Thank you," Allison said, "can you guys go home? If you stay, Asher will probably hit someone."
"We wanted to see if she was okay," Mitch said, 'and Eden is telling your mom what happened."
Everly now out of the car and in Allison's arms saw Sierra and began screaming.
"We'll go in," Allison said walking towards the house, she paused at the key pad to open the garage door and went in through the garage.
"Leave,' Asher demanded, 'get out now."
"Asher please," Mitch said.
Asher shoved his brother, 'no, get the fuck away from my family."
Mitch shoved Asher back. Asher wound up to punch him, he got a few good punches in before Mitch swung. Asher continued to slam his fists into his brother. Owen pulled Asher back and Leo grabbed Mitch.
"Asher inside," Owen barked, "Mitch leave."
"No," Mitch said.
"Get off my property," Owen barked, "get lost."
"Mitch," Sierra said, "let's go home."
"Jack, Jordan and Eden," Mitch said.
"Come with us," Sierra said, "we'll work it out."
"It's time for you to leave," Teddy told Asher's siblings, "we told you not today and now he's furious."
"Did I do the wrong thing,' Eden asked.
"No you told us the truth," Teddy said, "thank you for telling the truth. Right now I need to go help Allison and Asher. Owen, you'll make sure they leave."
Owen rounded up the Blouin kids and made sure they got in Mitch's car.
"Her parents are old," Jack said.
"Their 60's," Sierra guessed.
"Probably," Mitch said, "they won't see us. He hit me."
"We didn't listen," Sierra said.
"Should we try another approach," Jacob asked.
Teddy ran into the basement where Everly was still screaming, Allison was sobbing and Asher was ranting.
"Okay," Teddy said, "Everybody freeze and look at me."
"They hurt my baby," Allison sobbed, "they hurt Everly."
"Then they think they can just show up here," Asher ranted, "like they can just come here and it makes it all okay!"
"They can't," Teddy said, "they can't make it right."
"They hurt her," Allison sobbed, "they hurt Everly."
"Renee hurt her," Teddy said.
"Mommy they hurt her," Allison roared, "they put hands on her and hurt her. She's bruised she has a fucking concussion."
"Allison, Asher, step out," Teddy commanded, "you two go catch your breath I have Everly."
"NO," Allison screamed, "she's not out of my sight. I let her out of my sight and she got hurt. NO."
Teddy took a deep breath, "Allison you're really worked up you are not rational right now. Let me take Ev go grab a shower and clean clothes and calm down. You know a shower always helps."
"No," Allison sobbed.
"What if I held Ev in the bathroom," Teddy offered.
"I need her to be okay," Allison sobbed.
"Okay baby girl," Teddy soothed, "you're okay. Can I hug both of you?"
Allison nodded and Teddy put her arms around Allison and Everly.
"Match my breathing," Teddy whispered, "you're okay. I'm here. I have you. You are home and you are safe."
Owen came downstairs.
"I know I shouldn't have swung first," Asher said when Owen sat beside him.
"That wasn't the best choice," Owen agreed, "but I think your brother will forgive you. You were protecting your family and he wasn't respecting that."
"We can't," Asher said.
"You need to be away from them for a while," Owen agreed, "right now you're pissed and you should be pissed. Renee hurt Everly. You have every right to be completely pissed off."
"I want to hurt her the way she hurt Everly," Asher snapped.
"I know you do," Owen said, "when Jessica hurt Annie I wanted to lash out and I nearly did at Dan. When Jessica put Annie in the ICU for two weeks I wanted to hurt all of them and she was just my niece. The time Jessica gnarly dislocated Annie's shoulder in the parking lot at Grey Sloan I lost it. Annie was a resident, she had just gotten married. That's when we pushed her to get a restraining order."
"How do we do that," Asher asked.
"Cut contact with her," Owen said, "you deal with her solely through a lawyer."
"We can't afford a lawyer," Asher said, "we'll push the wedding back."
"No Teddy and I will help," Owen assured, "I have a name. We will get that in place to protect Everly. With the police report it'll be easy."
"Will Allie and I be investigated," Asher panicked.
"I don't know," Owen said, "I doubt it. Everly has had so many X-rays and is seen by so many people regularly that it's unlikely. There's so much documentation of how well she's cared for and you brought her in outraged. Asher, you started swearing at and shoving your dad in the hospital."
"We have to protect her," Asher said.
"You do," Owen agreed, "and we are going to help. Everly knows she is loved and safe here. And we will keep it that way. She can't see your parents for a while. She never sees Renee again."
"I don't want to see them," Asher said, "I will honestly kill all of them. I will kill Renee if I see her. I will do to her what she did to my daughter."
"We will keep her safe and away from them," Owen promised.
"I don't know how to do this," Asher said.
"I have an idea," Owen said, "we've been through trying to help Annie, help herself be safe. But you have to put the lines of defence up for Everly."
"We will," Asher said, "we need to figure out what to do."
"Mom can you hold her so I can shower," Allison asked, "then I'll give her a bath."
"Ev can you come to grandma," Teddy asked, "can I give you a hug."
Everly nodded.
"Do you want to go play in your room so daddy and grandpa can talk," Teddy asked as she took Everly.
"Kiki," Everly asked.
"We can go get your doll," Teddy agreed. She carried Everly to her room and sat on the floor with Everly while she played with her doll. Everly began to knock the doll over and losen the braces on her legs. Teddy wondered if that's what Renee had done to Everly the night before. But Everly had figured out how to loosen her own braces recently and could get the straps off herself when she was really determined.
"What are you doing," Teddy asked.
"Kiki fell," Everly said.
"Why did she fall," Teddy asked.
"No crutches," Everly said, "I take them away."
"Why did you take them," Teddy asked.
Everly shrugged.
"Did Renee take yours," Teddy asked.
Everly nodded.
"No one here will take them away," Teddy promised, "do you want me to get the ones by your bed. Your purple ones are here."
"Pink," Everly demanded.
"I don't know where your pink ones are," Teddy said, "I can see your purple ones and your walker."
"Pink," Everly repeated.
"Let's use your purple ones to go find the pink ones," Teddy suggested a compromise.
"No outside," Everly said.
"I'll be right with you and I won't let you fall," Teddy assured, "I won't let anyone hurt you."
Teddy helped Everly stand using her crutches before noticing the little girl's balance was off from the concussion.
"You're wobbly, let's use the walker," Teddy said.
Everly nodded, making a pouty face.
Everly took a few steps then began to cry and fuss.
"Can I hold you," Teddy asked.
Everly nodded and Teddy picked her up.
"You're really not feeling well princess," Teddy soothed holding the little girl close, "mommy is just showering and then you can have a bath. Do you want me to make you some cup cakes?"
"I help," Everly said.
"You can help decorate," Teddy agreed, "a bath, some lunch and a rest then you can help me decorate the cupcakes."
"Pink," Everly asked.
"I can make you pink cupcakes and pink icing," Teddy agreed.
Everly clung to Teddy who held her and rocked her gently, holding her tight and kissing the top of her head.
Allison took Everly back from Teddy and took the little girl for a bath. Everly finally relaxed the the tub Allison passed her her dolphin to distract her while she washed everlys hair. Allison lifted Everly out of the tub after playing in the warm water she helped her get dressed in soft leggings and a long sleeved shirt. Allison sat on the couch with Everly in her lap. Asher moved to sit with them and Allison leaned against Asher. He put his arms around Allison and Everly.
"We'll keep her safe," Asher whispered, seeing the little girl asleep in her mom's lap.
"We have to," Allison agreed, "how?"
"I talked to your dad," Asher said, "we'll get a restraining order against Renee and they'll get us connected to a lawyer."
"I want to press charges," Allison said.
"We will if we can," Asher said.
"The wedding," Allison said, "should we put it off for another year?"
"No," Asher said, "Renee can't come and we'll put some major boundaries on my parents and siblings."
"Do we have to have them," Allison asked.
"We should," Asher said, "but we can limit."
"Ceremony only and Opa does it," Allison suggested.
"We'll work it out when we know more about what the police are going to do," Asher said, "but we are getting married this summer."
"I want to," Allison said, "Will it be okay for Ev?"
"It's good for her," Asher assured, "she knows we're here and we love her. She's finally calm."
"Her bath helped," Allison said.
"So did your shower," Asher added.
"It did," Allison agreed, "why were your siblings here?"
"To check on Everly," Asher said, "make sure we're all okay."
"We're not," Allison said.
"We aren't today," Asher said, "we will be."
"We always are," Allison said.
"You need to sleep," Asher said, "you didn't last night."
"She didn't so we can't," Allison said.
"We didn't," Asher agreed, "but she's really settled now."
"Home and she's had a bath and grandma snuggles," Allison said.
"Your mom did her squeezing magic," Asher said.
"She did," Allison agreed, "to me too."
"Can you try to sleep for a bit," Asher asked, "maybe take her and we can watch something in our bed and you can fall asleep."
"Will you stay with us," Allison asked.
"I will," Asher promised.
Allison carried Everly to their room and curled up with her in the big bed. Everly was rarely allowed to sleep in Allison and Asher's bed, they brought her in to snuggle the occasional weekend morning or until she fell back to sleep if she woke up in the night but she couldn't crawl into her parents bed on her own like other kids did. Sometimes when she was feeling really determined she managed to get into their room without her braces using her walker or crawling on the floor, when she got to Allison's side of the bed she pulled the blanket off to get her mom's attention. And Allison would lift her into bed for a snuggle for a few minutes.
Everly stirred as Allison laid her down on the big bed.
Allison whispered "daddy and I are going to watch a movie here princess, do you want to snuggle with us?"
"Daddy," Everly whispered, reaching for Asher.
"I got you," Asher said sitting beside her, "I'm right here."
"Encanto please," Everly asked.
"We can watch Encanto," Asher agreed.
"Do you want us to tuck you in," Allison asked.
"Yes please," Everly said, "with Kiki."
"I'll go get your doll," Allison agreed, "does she need her jammies?"
'No," Everly said, "braces."
"Does she need to put her braces on," Allison asked, "do you want me to do it or can you?"
"I do it," Everly demanded.
"Okay," Allison agreed, getting up to get the doll and her braces.
Once she was tucked in with her favourite Doll and had put the braces on her properly Everly watched about 20 minutes of the movie before falling asleep between her parents.
"She'll be okay," Asher assured.
"I hope so," Allison replied, 'but will we? Ash you were punching people. Leo's hit you and you just took it. I've never seen you swing that scared me."
"I was so pissed off at them," he said, "god Allie everything was red all I could think of was to hurt them the way they hurt her. They have to pay for what they did to our daughter. There has to be a consequence."
"There will be," Allison said, "Ash I'm scared. You punched your dad and your brother, what if that was me or Ev?"
"Never," Asher assured, "no. I don't know why I couldn't stop hitting Mitch until your dad pulled us apart. Allie we need help."
"We do," she agreed, "on Monday I'm going to try to book a therapy appointment. I'll need a few, Ev might I don't know. Maybe you should."
"How," he said, "the money?"
"We push the wedding back and use our wedding money," she said.
"No," he argued, "we're already not going on a honeymoon because we can't afford it we're not pushing back or cutting back on our wedding."
"We can't have your family," she said.
"We will work something out," he said, "Renee definitely not. But my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. My phone won't stop they're all pissed about what happened and want to know if we're okay. I haven't responded."
"Tell them we'll be fine we just need space," Allison suggested.
"I will," Asher agreed.
He quickly texted his grandma and aunts to let them know Everly would be okay but they needed space from everyone right now.
