Chapter 17: Revenge for a Freind

Hey sorry it's been a few days since I've updated. I'm planning to breeze through the remaining books and just go through the important events.

Percy's POV

It was my turn on watch duty with Frank and Leo. I was thinking about us leaving New Rome I already missed Reyna and as if it couldn't get any worse I'm on the same boat as Annabeth who is trying to get back together with me.

We had already done so much.

Piper had a vision so we had to go to Kansas and meet Dionysus (No Eidilons in this so Percy and Jason did not fight)

He had led us to Atlanta to visit Phorcys(not a very nice guy)

We had to go to Charleston for Annabeth to follow the Mark Of Athena

Now most recently we had just left the fish centaur camp. I was still a bit mad they didn't want to meet me mainly because I had so many questions to ask them about training and heroes so it was a bit of a downer.

I sat on the Prow of the Argo 2 thinking about when we left New Rome.

Flashback

My alarm went off at 5:30, and I had an amazing sleep with the last thing on my mind being Reyna.

I got up and hopped in the shower it always made me feel better being a child of the sea and all.

As I was about to knock on Reyna's door to see if she was ready for breakfast it opened and there was Reyna i felt a smile form on my face, and when she saw me she said "Well fancy meeting you here" before giving me a quick peck on the lips (may be a bit cringy didn't know what else to put sorry)

And we started talking about anything and everything the quest, New Rome, my companions, the legion, and it was calming to talk about because we were both being honest with each other and I was happy to walk with her before I had to leave.

When we got to the dining hall me and Reyna sat at the officer's table, Reyna and I were the first ones there. As we were waiting Reyna asked, "What are you going to do about Annabeth, you're going to be on a ship together in very close quarters?" I sat for a moment pondering the very question that I had been wondering about. I answered "Avoid being alone with her, but as much as I want to I can't just give her the cold shoulder and neglect her as we are on a life-threatening quest and we all need to trust each other. Whatever happens though I love you. I will return and be with you for the rest of my life." as I finished I gave her a quick kiss and resumed eating my blue waffles.

I looked over at what she was eating and laughed as she had blue waffles on her plate as well.

"What can I say they looked good, I see why you eat blue food its calming," She said once I finished laughing.

When we both finished our food she leaned her head on my shoulder as we waited for the other questers.

I grumbled "The Greeks sure do take their time sleeping"

Reyna chucked and said "About what you said earlier, first off I love you too, secondly if you don't come back the giants will be the least of your problems.

End of flashback

I snapped back to reality when I noticed an island and on either side, there were two huge pillars.

On the pillars, it said Non plus Ultra my brain auto-translated that to mean "nothing further beyond"

I smiled and walked up to Leo and said stop the ship here and you and Frank go wake everyone up.

Once everyone was awake some being in more revealing clothes cough cough Annabeth cough cough.

Started the meeting by saying "Okay these are the pillars of Hercules he will be on that island" I said while pointing to the island where you could see a figure standing tall and watching us.

"I am going over to the island for… negotiations of sorts. We can not get by without him okaying(is this a word?) our passage so this has to be done" I said

Annabeth spoke up "Percy don't go over getting revenge or settling a vendetta you have against him"

I shook my head and lifted up my arm showing off my SPOR tattoo that had a trident and a silver star "I have to honor my Patron, her life was ruined by him i owe it to Zoe to do this"

"What do you mean your patron" Jason asked

"During our battle remember how I was encompassed by that bright light" After getting a nod from him I continued "That was her blessing, simply put she is my patron and I gained some of her strengths and skills"

"Now if you will excuse me I am going to talk to Heracles," I said before jumping off the Argo 2 and swimming to the island.

As I rose up out of the water I approached the figure in front of me he was tall around 6'5 with broad shoulders but not too stocky, he looked about 20, with a bat that was made entirely of celestial bronze.

"Me and my friends would like passage through the pillars into the Mare Nostrum," I said

He looked at me and said "Perseus Jackson you're quite the hero as famous as me, and that's quite a feat. Everybody wants to be like me the great Hercules"

I laughed, once I controlled myself I said "I don't want to be like you at all." I took out Aestus and willed it to transform into Riptide. "Do you remember this sword" I questioned

After a moment of thought he answered saying "Yes, I remember it was given to me by a foolish girl, she helped me retrieve the golden apples"

I scowled at his answer and description of Zoe. "That's the wrong answer, the girl you speak of was a good friend of mine and is now my patron," I said

"Normally you give a quest to demigods to see if they are worthy to pass i request a duel, if I win you let me, my ship, and my crew go past with no complications, if you win someone else from my crew will come over and do your quest. We battle until one of us yields or is unable to fight."

Heracles pondered this offer being as arrogant as he was he said "I agree to your terms" he put his hand out to shake which I did.

3rd Peron POV on the Argo 2

We were all confused watching the exchange between Percy and Heracles as he called him. Annabeth had filled us in about who Zoe was and how Percy blamed himself for her death. We were all surprised as we didn't think a death like this would affect him so much he acted so distant they didn't realize how close he truly got to people.

When we saw Percy take his sword out and transform it into its Greek form of Riptide we were confused because it was not in an aggressive manner.

Percy and Heracles shook hands and we all sighed in relief that we were fine. That's when the fates practically said "you thought" to us when the two took fighting stances and charged.

Percy's POV

Heracles and I walked away from each other and took up fighting stances i decided to start with Riptide as I was the most comfortable with it.

We charged at each other he swung his bat I rolled under and tried for a slash at his legs. His speed surprised me before he could counterattack I jumped back narrowly avoiding an overhead blow from the minor god.

I was on the defensive for a while as he had more strength than me and our speed was about average. I had a plan to get to the water if I did that I had a chance, it worked against Ares so it should work here.

I dodged a strike and jumped over him landing with my feet in the water.

Instantly I felt rejuvenated, stronger, and faster I had a chance. Heracles made his way towards me taking his time.

As he was walking towards me I willed Riptide back into pen form and pocketed it while summoning my hunting knives preferring close range while I had the speed advantage.

He stepped into the water I grinned and slowed the water around his feet making him slower almost unable to move. I knew I still had to watch out for his strength even if he was immobile.

I sprinted at him and blasted some water into his face blinding him and cutting both his Achilles heels making him drop to the ground while still trying to see again. I put my knives against his neck and asked "Yield"?

He laughed which surprised me and said "Yeah, you win kid. You and your ship are free to go"

"Thank you," I said before making my way back to the ship with a huge smile on my face. As I was walking back I heard in my mind "Thank you Perseus you did well" I recognized the voice and blushed slightly at the praise(this is not Perzoe just friends who respect each other)

As soon as I stepped on the ship I was stackled to the deck by a large figure who said "Dude what are you doing if you die Reyna's gonna have my head" I laughed at Franks fear of Reyna and her wrath.

"There was nothing to worry about, it wasn't a battle to the death. But we are free to pass. I looked at Leo and said Supreme Commander full steam ahead" He saluted and said "Aye Aye sir" before rushing to the helm.

Frank got off of me and helped me up and Hazel came and hugged me and said "Don't do anything stupid like that again" I laughed and responded "Sorry I can't make any promises, now lets go get Nico"

Again thanks for reading this chapter sorry it took so long I procrastinated a lot with this chapter. I have some of the future events planned out for how I want them to go, but I am not ready for that yet. Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please review with any ideas or criticism I appreciate both.
