After a week of intense wedding planning and repairing friendships, Veronica decided to host another Bachelorette dinner with her best friends and bridesmaids. This time, instead of having the dinner at her apartment, she chose a charming Indian restaurant in Riverdale owned by their high school history teacher, Mrs. Haggly.
Veronica was bustling around her apartment, making sure everything was in order. The final dinner before her wedding had to be perfect. She glanced at the clock, noting that it was almost time to leave. Her bridesmaids, Betty Cooper, Tabitha Tate, Olivia Baker, and Mindy Chen, were ready, but one bridesmaid, Emily Cooper, was nowhere to be found.
Veronica's anxiety began to rise. "Where is she?" Veronica muttered, pacing the living room. She turned to the others. "We're not going anywhere until we find Emily."
Olivia tried to calm her down. "V, she's probably just running late. Let's give her a few more minutes."
Veronica's patience was thin. "No, Olivia, you don't understand. Everything has to be perfect. I can't have another disaster like last time!" Her voice grew more frantic.
Betty stepped forward. "Veronica, it's going to be okay. We'll find Emily. Let's just take a deep breath."
But Veronica was beyond calming. She grabbed her phone and dialed Archie's number. "Archie, do you know where Emily is? She's missing, and we need to leave!"
Archie's voice crackled through the phone. "No, Ronnie, I haven't seen her. She was there when I left."
Veronica slammed the phone down in frustration. Just then, the apartment door opened, and Emily walked in, looking flustered. "Sorry I'm late, everyone. I had to call my friend Camille."
Veronica's relief quickly turned to anger. "Emily, you can't just disappear without telling anyone! We were all worried sick!"
Emily looked at her, taken aback by the intensity of Veronica's reaction. "Veronica, calm down. I just needed to make a quick call. It wasn't a big deal."
Veronica threw her hands up in exasperation. "Not a big deal? This is my last Bachelorette dinner, Emily. Everything matters!"
Emily sighed, trying to keep her own temper in check. "Veronica, you need to relax. You've been on edge about everything. This isn't healthy."
Veronica rolled her eyes and snapped, "Don't tell me to relax, Emily. You don't understand the pressure I'm under."
The other bridesmaids exchanged worried glances, not wanting to escalate the situation further. Olivia stepped in again. "Alright, everyone, let's take a step back. We're all here for Veronica. Let's just get to the restaurant and have a good time."
Veronica took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. "Fine. Let's just go." She shot one last frustrated look at Emily before leading the group out the door.
The drive to the Indian restaurant was tense, with Veronica fuming silently in the passenger seat. When they arrived, Mrs. Haggly greeted them warmly. "Welcome, ladies! We've got a special table set up for you."
As they were seated, Veronica forced a smile. "Thank you, Mrs. Haggly. We're looking forward to a lovely evening."
Mrs. Haggly nodded and left them to peruse the menu. Veronica glanced around the table, still feeling the residual anger from earlier. She tried to push it aside, determined to enjoy the night.
The conversation gradually picked up, and the mood lightened. Betty, ever the peacemaker, raised her glass. "To Veronica, and to new beginnings."
The bridesmaids joined in the toast, and for a moment, everything felt right. Veronica managed a genuine smile, clinking her glass with the others. "Thank you, everyone. I'm sorry for earlier. I just want everything to be perfect."
Emily gave her a reassuring smile. "We understand, Veronica. We're all here for you, no matter what."
As the evening went on, the delicious food and shared laughter began to ease the tension. Veronica looked around at her friends, feeling a wave of gratitude. Despite the drama and stress, she knew she was lucky to have them by her side.
By the end of the night, as they were getting ready to leave, Veronica pulled Emily aside. "I'm really sorry for snapping at you earlier. I've just been so stressed."
Emily hugged her. "It's okay, V. I know this is a big deal for you. Just remember, we're all here to support you."
Veronica nodded, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "Thanks, Emily. I really appreciate it."
The group left the restaurant in high spirits, the earlier drama forgotten. As they walked back to their cars, Veronica felt a renewed sense of excitement for her wedding day. She knew there would be more challenges ahead, but with her friends and Archie by her side, she was ready to face anything.
