The next evening, after an invigorating workout, Veronica returned to her apartment, still buzzing with energy. She stepped inside and immediately noticed a large purple package sitting on the island table in the kitchen. Archie, who was in the living room, noticed it too.

"What's that?" he asked, walking over to her.

Veronica's two best friends and bridesmaids, Emily Cooper and Mindy Chen, emerged from the hallway. Emily spoke up, "I brought this up from the mailroom. It's addressed to you, Veronica."

Veronica's eyes widened. "Oh my God, it could be the wedding dress I ordered from that boutique online recently!" She was visibly excited, but there was a hint of nervousness in her voice.

"Let's take a look!" Mindy said enthusiastically, stepping forward. Veronica hesitated for a moment before nodding.

"Okay, Mindy, you can open it," Veronica instructed, feeling a mix of anticipation and anxiety.

Mindy began unpacking the huge purple package. "We need to get this on a hanger for the wedding preparations in Paris," she commented as she carefully cut through the packaging tape. "Who packs like this?" she wondered aloud, struggling with the tightly wrapped layers.

"If the wedding dress is made out of the same material, this is over," Veronica said impatiently. "Come on, please," she urged as the others helped unpack the package. She looked away shyly, her nerves getting the better of her, but then couldn't help but peek back at the progress.

Finally, they unveiled the dress. The room fell silent as everyone took in the sight of it. The wedding dress was a deep, gaudy purple, with awkward ruffles and a strange, shiny fabric. It looked nothing like the elegant dress Veronica had envisioned.

Archie furrowed his brow. "Is it supposed to look like that?"

Veronica's heart sank, and she felt a wave of panic. "This looks like an Amazon worker's outfit but in purple!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling.

Emily tried to help, examining the dress closely. "Isn't there supposed to be lace?" she asked, fumbling with the garment.

"No," Veronica said, her eyes welling up with tears. "It's not supposed to look like this at all."

Emily tried to reassure her. "Maybe it's just the way it's folded. Let's fix it."

Mindy pulled out her phone and showed a picture of the dress from the website. "See, it was supposed to be elegant with lace and perfect," she said, but reality hit hard. The actual dress looked nothing like the photo.

Veronica broke down, crying. "This is so ugly! What am I going to do?"

Emily smelled the dress, her nose wrinkling in disgust. "It stinks too!"

Archie and Mindy took a sniff, confirming the foul odor. "What kind of fabric is this?" Mindy wondered aloud.

As Emily and Mindy started brainstorming ways to repack the dress and return it, Veronica retreated to the bedroom with Archie following close behind.

"Why did I even order from a boutique store online when the dress was imported from China?" Veronica asked, her voice choked with frustration and tears.

Archie tried to calm her down. "Veronica, we'll figure this out. We'll get another dress."

Veronica took a deep breath. "I was trying to budget like you asked me to. And now, look at this! My dresses are trash, and everything is falling apart."

Archie put his arms around her, holding her tightly. "I'm sorry, Veronica. I didn't mean for this to happen. We'll find a way to make this right. You deserve the perfect dress."

Veronica buried her face in his chest, trying to find some comfort in his embrace. "I just want everything to be perfect," she whispered.

Archie stroked her hair gently. "It will be. We'll make sure of it."

After a few minutes, Veronica pulled away and wiped her tears. "Okay. First, we need to return this monstrosity. Then we'll figure out where to get a new dress."

Archie nodded. "We'll get through this, Veronica. Together."

With renewed determination, Veronica and Archie rejoined Emily and Mindy in the living room. The friends put their heads together to devise a plan, knowing that with their combined efforts, they could overcome any obstacle and ensure that Veronica's wedding would be as perfect as she dreamed.
