A loud breathing echoed across the ruin surface of the moon, breaking the silence held in the air. It was human in nature, yet sounded almost too robotic to be anything but. A perfect representation of the one who stood amongst the ruins, his black cape draped over his body like a veil.

He slowly turned his head to glance at his surroundings. The once-glimmering white columns and roads that once houses many were crumbling cylinders and empty craters that spread all over. The great fountains had run dry ages ago, and bridges were now ashes. An entire city, once shining like the star is orbited, turned into a wasteland.

Oh, how the mighty had fallen so far, he could only wonder.

"My lord," a voice came from from the side.

Without turning, the large figure noted the small man, clad in white armor of a trooper. "What do you have to report?" he inquired.

The trooper's voice came through comm built in his helmet. "We've done a scan," the trooper said, poking at the datapad in his hand. "There seems no significant amount of technology. Not even a sign of energy battery showed up on our scans."

"And?" the large figure inquired, sensing

"As for the rest of the system, my lord..." the officer hesitated for a bit, "there is nothing. No animals, no human life, and not even plant life. Only mere bacteria and other microorganisms."

That was already well-known. He had felt it upon entering the system. What life there had been before, he sensed none of it as he stood on the command ship that now hovered above. He pondered what could have happened, prompting him to head down the surface and find these ruins. So close to it, his answers became clearer.

There was nothing left. The aura that was once so powerful, so vibrant as the life in this system, had become a mere shell. Not even the bones of the dead were left to compensate for this desolation. There was just ruins of another civilization that was snuffed out of the universe.

After a few moments, the command came: "Return to the ship and study with your findings. I will join you shortly."

"Yes, my lord. Will there be anything else?"

"No," was the rather sharp answer. "Leave me."

Without further delay, the trooper bowed and took his leave. The dark one, finally alone, stood in the ruins. Staring at it, he recalled the great towers and pillars of a

With that memory, came another time, another life, when he was just a guardian of peace and justice of the Galactic Republic, a Knight of the Jedi Order, and a general in an army meant to fight a foe that was as lifeless as the copies he led into battle. He remembered the many friends he had lost in the great conflict that spanned countless star systems. The seemingly endless war that took him away from those he loved. From the one whom he loved.

His continued to let his mind wander. He remembered arriving in this system, and so surprised to find life teeming in it. By that point, the enemy's monotonous machines strolled in, seeking to claim the system for themselves. He remembered the guardians of the planets in the outer rims of the system, the first ones he came across. Two of them, the blond and the aqua-marine women, in their arrogance, proclaimed not needing him and the help of his fellow Jedi.

That proved wrong when warships flew overhead and fired at one another. He too had been up there, leading his clone pilots in his Jedi starfighter and shooting away at the droid fighters that threatened to attack this system. At the time, his own mentor was fighting against the battle droids on the surface, and the alien Jedi, Plo Koon, had gone somewhere else.

It was not long before he and the others had an audience with the system's authority figures. Its ruler, the queen, was more than joyous to receive their help after speaking with Master Plo. Her personal guard, the guards of the inner worlds, had the same reaction, if only slightly more cautious than their ruler. They all fought together, forcing the invaders back to the farthest reaches of the system before pushing them out of the doorway.

Out of all of the planets' respective guardians, he remembered the littlest one. She had been so young, so full of life, as he had once been before the war. Really, he had seen much of himself in her. Burdened by a great power, almost shunned by those who saw that power as a threat, and a great spirit and longing to see more beyond what kept them down. Not to mention, she had the same power as he and the Jedi wielded, the great energy that bound all living things together.

He remembered, after all the fighting was done, talking to her. She was sad to see him go, and he, her. It was when he was about to leave, he had made his pledge, almost boasting in his arrogant tone.

"When this war is over, I'll come back. I'll take you on as my pupil."

He could still see the hope in her wide eyes. The same hope he had when he was first taken in by the Jedi. "Really? I get to go with you?!"

"That's a promise!" he laughed.

He pushed the memories down to the deepest, darkest pit. That had been a life time ago. Now, he was a different being altogether, more machine than man. The Republic was no more and neither were the Jedi. He had seen to that. And standing in the ruins, he knew clearly what was before him: fragments of a past meant to be forgotten, memories of a foolish man who thought he could do anything and everything.

Thus, he focused on the here and now, staring at the great orb of a planet hung in space. Despite the red haze of his helmet's HUD, he knew the colors of blue, green, brown, and white coating the planet, giving the feeling of life he sensed. It was nothing, though, compared to what he sensed years before. Nothing of value to him, or to the emperor. It would be fruitless to even set up a base here, so far away.

Slowly, Darth Vader turned around and headed for his ship, leaving the empty shell of the Moon Kingdom in the farthest reaches of the galaxy.

AN: Yeah, this one's a strange idea. Really, it's based after an an old SM/SW crossover I read a long time ago, in which Anakin and some Jedi (i.e. Plo Koon and Obi-Wan) came to the solar system with the clone army to fight off the Separatists. During which, Anakin met and befriended Saturn, who was made a social outcast because of her powers.

I haven't found it on this site, and I doubt it's here anymore, so I decided to write this little tidbit. Again, it's a strange choice to write, but I do hope you liked it.

Raika out.
