Hello everybody I'm back with another Chapter, thanks to everyone who has left a review, it means so much to me, please enjoy another Chapter in Adventures of the PAW Patrol.
Chapter 5: Access DeniedChase walked up to the refuge center at about 8:00 P.M. he used his paw print to assess the staff only door. Then he went to check on the families. But when he got to the bedrooms the refugees were all tied and gagged!
"What happened here," Chase exclaimed as he cut their bonds.
"This man in a black suit and mask came in and told us to get on the ground. Then he tied us up and stole all of our stuff." Panicked the refugees
"Don't worry, I'll find him, Chase is on the case. Ryder there was a break in at the refuge center, I'm going to suit up and find the thief."
"Copy that chase, be careful." Ryder said sternly
Chase raced over to the armory to suit up. In order to access the armory chase needs to scan his paw print. But this time something wasn't right, because hen chase put his paw up to scan, it denied him access!
"What on earth," Chase barked with confusion "Ryder my paw print no longer gives me access to the armory!"
"What," Ryder shouted with shock. Ryder quickly wakes up the other pups. "Pups, wake up, we've been hacked."
"Huh, what, where, what's going on," stuttered the sleepy, confused pups.
"The systems been hacked," Ryder shouted full of fear.
Ryder and the pups race over to meet chase at the armory.
"Watch this," Chase said with confusion
"Access denied," replied the automatic voice.
"Chase can you access the computer code." Ryder asked.
"No, I know nothing of computer programming."
"Rocky can you access it."
"No, I'm a mechanic, not a computer technician."
"There must be somebody who can help." Ryder said franticly. But there was no one in Adventure Bay who had the knowledge of computer decoding. Chase had an idea, but he didn't like it.
"I know someone who can help, but I'm not sure we can trust him." Chase said sternly.
"Who is it," Ryder asked
"A pug named Hacker, he was sent to prison for hacking into our Adventure City Head Quarters. In fact, if my calculations are correct he's still in prison.
"Chase I need you to go to Adventure City and ask for Hacker's help. In return he shall be granted his freedom; he might be our only chance." Ryder commanded
"Okay, but are you sure we can trust him." Chase said with a worried look.
"Chase, I believe that every pup deserves a second chance."
Chase packed what was not locked up somewhere, the pups sleeping quarters and the garage where the only things that weren't locked. The pups came out to say bye to chase, especially Skye.
"Bye Chase, see you soon," said the pups
"I believe in you Chase, but be careful, I don't want you to get hurt." Skye said affectionately.
"Don't worry Skye, when am I not careful." Chase said as he slammed on the gas and showed off his amazing driving skills
"All too often," Skye whispered to herself while laughing to herself.
Adventure City is about a 9 hour drive from Adventure Bay. Chase had left at about 10:00 because he was in a hurry. Chase arrived at Adventure City at about 6:00 A.M; he was able to get a hotel room. He couldn't go straight to the prison because their visiting hour's where from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00. Chase was able to get a few hours of sleep before he want to talk to hacker. Then Chase drove up to the prison.
"Identification, Please," asked the security guard.
"Chase, Police dog and protector of Adventure Bay," Responded chase
"Ah, yes, welcome back, please, come right in."
Once inside Chase was greeted by the person who was in charge of the prison.
"Welcome back Chase, what brings you here to Adventure City."
"We've been hacked and can't access our equipment."
"Oh, that's awful, so why are you here."
"I need to speak with one of you prisoners, I believe he can help us."
"Who is it," Inquired the head officer.
"A pug named Hacker; if he agrees to help us he shall be granted his freedom."
"You know that's crazy right, he's a criminal, are you sure you can trust him."
"No, but he's our only chance."
"Okay, if that is what you need then we'll give it to you. I will get him ready, please wait here."
Chase waited as told, and all the while he worried about his friends. Many "what if's" went through his head. "What if he refuses to help, what if he betrays us, what if he can't help, what if-.
"No, don't focuses on the what if's, Chase, it only makes you weaker." Chase said to himself, just then the head police officer walked in.
"Please right this way Chase, he's ready for you."
"Alright, let's do this," Chase said with a determined look.
Once Chase entered the interrogation room, Hacker was sitting in the other chair with a blank expression on his face.
"Hacker, my name is Chase and I am from the PAW Patrol." Chase said with a stern look.
"What do you want," Hacker said blankly.
"I'm here because you hacked into our Adventure City HQ."
"So, that was a year ago and I'm spending my time here, what more do you want."
"It was impressive."
"What," hacker said with a confused look.
"You were able to hack into a max security building with multiple firewalls. Look, I'm here because we need your help, somebody has hacked into our other HQ and locked us out. I want to ask you if you will help us regain access," Chase said sternly.
"You want my help," Hacker said with a hopeful but still confused look.
"Yes, in return you will be granted your freedom, it's your choice; I will be back in an hour to hear you decision."
An hour later when Chase came back, Hacker had made his decision.
"I will help," Hacker said with a decisive attitude.
"Alright, come with me, but I'm going to keep a very close eye on you, no funny business."
When chase returned to Adventure Bay, Ryder showed hacker the problem.
"Hmm, somebody has changed the code, they gave themselves access but took away yours, I've seen it before," Hacker said.
"Can you fix it," Ryder said with hope.
"Yes, but it will take time."
"How much time," Ryder said.
"It could take hours, days, weeks, months, but for me at least 5 hours, at most, two weeks. I have to get into the codes and recode it to let you back in," Hacker said.
Hacker starts right away, Chase stands guard and watches him very closely. The next day Hacker is still working on it.
"Chase, come play tag with us." Skye said in a playful mood.
"I don't trust that Hacker, I'm not taking my eye of him."
"Come on, he'll be fine," pleaded Skye.
"No, I'm not taking my eye of him until his done."
"Aw, okay," said a disappointed Skye.
"Ha, I've got it, this code lets me into the fabric of the computer programming, and I'm in. now I can see who has access. And now I can give you all access again. I need you all to scan you paws to re enter your prints into the code." Hacker said with a sense of accomplishment.
After the pups rescanned they're paws they found out who had locked them out.
"Humdinger, that despicable man, I should have known." Hacker growled with a disgusted look on his face.
"How do you know Humdinger?" Chase said with confusion.
"He forced me, by gunpoint to hack into your Adventure City head quarters, so he could steal your stuff. He said if I didn't he would kill me and my family. The crook, he had me arrested and he, he killed my family anyway, and so."
"I'm sorry," Skye said with sympathy.
"Well, it's getting late, I'd better go find a place to sleep, an ally way maybe."
"O your welcome to stay, we might need you again." Ryder said with a kind tone.
"Are you sure, but I could hack you buildings again."
"It's not your fault that Humdinger made you do it. Every pup deserves a second chance." Ryder said with kindness in his eyes.
"Thank you, I shall help you catch that vile Humdinger." Hacker said with a grin.
"Alright pups, time for bed, especially you chase, you look tired."
"I think your right Ryder-z-z-z." Chase said as he immediately fell asleep.
"Good night Chase. Hacker you can pick a bunk."
"Thank you, uh, I'm sorry, I never got you name."
"My names Ryder," Ryder said
"Ah, yes, thank you Ryder."
"Good night pups," Ryder said as he turned off the light.
"Good night Ryder," responded the pups as they promptly fell asleep.
HUMDINGER, that vile little cockroach, but humdinger better look out, the PAW Patrol has a new ally that hates him. Come back next week to find out what happens next on Adventures of the PAW Patrol.
