Chapter 2- Daddy's Weekend
"It was an accident honestly. Mia said when it comes to me or the club, Grace has been withdrawn and moody. I think it's because of Mia and me. Then today, when they got there, I was with Tammy" he said, trying to explain to his brother what happened.
Tommy leant over so he was closer to his brother. "You are a fucking idiot man. Are you stupid? Those two girls are the best things that ever happened to you. Why were you with that whore? Why the hell would you be around Tammy at all?" he asked.
He was pissed at his older brother. Abel really was the stupidest person ever when it came to relationships.
Abel held his head in his hands. It was really his fault. He messed up and made a mess of his family life, especially his daughter.
Abel nodded, "I know man. I messed up big today. The look on Mia's face when she saw me with Tammy was devastating. She just froze and then she started crying. How am I supposed to deal with that?" he explained what went on earlier.
The younger Teller shook his head, "you are such an asshole. Seriously, you are so stupid when it comes to women" he laughed.
"I can only imagine how the exchange between Mia and Tammy went. That is horrible of you to put her in that situation. You need to make this right Abel" Tommy suggested to his brother.
Abel knew that Tommy was right. He knew what he had to do.
Before Abel could answer his brother, Ryder and Parker came into the kitchen to grab some food when they saw Abel and Tommy talking.
"Hey Prez, I saw the Princess is there. Is Sunshine around?" Ryder asked.
Abel looked at the two members curiously.
"Gracie is in my room. Mia's on trauma call this weekend. She'll be at the family dinner on Sunday. Why you need Mia?" Abel asked.
Everyone was more interested in Mia. Why was everyone looking for his wife?
"I just wanted to talk to her. I need her help with something" he said helping himself to some pie.
Abel immediately went on the defensive. "Why do you want to talk to Mia?"
Ryder shrugged as he ate the last piece of pie.
"She was helping to take care of some medical stuff for me, and I needed to talk to her about it" he explained.
Abel wasn't surprised. Mia was always going out of her way to help the guys in the club.
Once he processed what his friend said, he got concerned. "You, okay? Anything I need to worry about?" he was now asking as the President of the club.
He needed his guys to be on their game. They were a family and if something was wrong, he needed to know.
Ryder shook his head, "no, I'm okay. Don't worry" he reassured his Prez.
Ryder was grateful for Abel and Tommy. They really looked out for everyone in the club like a family.
"Good, let me know if that changes" Abel said.
It was an unspoken code between the guys. They had each other's backs. They were all there for each other no matter what.
That's why the guys loved it when Mia and Gracie were around. Not that they would say anything to them.
The guys were all too afraid of Abel and his reaction when it came to Mia and their relationship.
In some way, Abel was glad that they had his girls' backs. He knew that no matter what, the guys in the club would be there for Mia and Gracie if they needed help.
At the hospital
Mia was beyond stressed at work. She was so swamped she had no time to think about Abel or Tammy.
Since she walked through the door and clocked into her shift, she had already operated on three people, referred four to specialists, and admitted five to the hospital overnight.
She wasn't even halfway through her shift yet. When she finally had a minute to herself, she grabbed tea and plopped on the couch in the doctor's lounge.
She rested her head back and closed her eyes for a minute.
It wasn't a minute before Abby, one of the other ER doctors, came in.
"That was crazy. What the hell are we selling?" she asked no one in particular.
Mia laughed, "tell me about it. At least you get to go home and sleep. I have to deal with my 5-year-old and family at dinner" she teased.
Abby smiled and looked on longingly, "I want that, want to trade?" she asked teasingly.
Mia laughed and took a sip of her tea. "I would, you can take Gracie anytime you want for practice. But you better give her back because I think I would miss my little angel too much" she replied.
Abby sat next to her, curling her feet under her. "How is my Gracie Bell? Is she with Abel?" she asked.
Mia nodded, "yeah, he has her for the weekend. I have trauma clinic this Sunday" she explained.
Abby sighed, "how are you and Abel?" she asked.
Mia shrugged around a sigh, "we are civil for now, so we are progressing, I guess. It's just hard for Gracie" she stated.
Abby understood her pain. She wasn't related to the club, but she was Mia's friend and she saw what she went through.
Before she could say anything to comfort her friend, both of their pagers went off.
Looking at the message, they both got the same message, 'come to the OR supervisor's office.'
They both looked at each other confused, "wonder what's that about?" Abby said before making their way to the administration building.
It didn't take long for them to find the office.
Mia knocked on the door, "Ms. Marks, you paged us" Abby stated.
The administrator, Mona Marks, waved them in and got up from her desk, meeting them at the door.
Neither one of them knew what this could be about. They had never been called in like this before.
"Thank you both for coming. I want you both to be at the meeting with the new trauma attending on Sunday after your shift" she informed.
Abby and Mia looked at each other surprised. They weren't involved in that process before, so why now?
"We'll be there, but if I can ask, why do you want us there this time? We haven't ever been involved before" Mia stated.
The administrator sighed, "Dr. Kacey would like to meet the trauma team he will be working with" she explained.
Mia and Abby stayed quiet and nodded before walking out.
Looking at each other, they both silently communicated with each other.
Who did this guy think he was, coming into their domain and making demands on them.
Once they got back to the lounge, Abby burst first. She couldn't take it anymore.
"Who the fuck does this guy think he is?" she exclaimed popping on the couch.
Mia smirked, "I guess we'll find out" she teased.
The night for them was crazy. They were beyond busy in the ER. It was easy for them to forget life outside work.
Abel on the other hand was worried about his daughter.
Since Grace left the table, she's been barricaded in his room.
Abel got up and walked towards the back rooms, he stood outside the door and let out a deep breath.
He needed to do this; he was just scared. His daughter was so much like her mom, it scared him.
Having a daughter was so much harder than having a boy. He was still learning how to adapt.
He opened the door and walked in to see his daughter sitting at his desk coloring, her back to him, and he knew she wasn't going to make this easy.
He closed the door and walked over to sit at the edge of the bed facing her.
She continued to ignore him.
"Grace" he called.
He saw her tense but didn't turn around.
Abel couldn't help but smirk at her. She had her mother's temperament and could hold a grudge like it was her job.
"Gracie, come on baby. I know you are mad at me. I'm sorry angel. I know this is hard for you. I'm sorry princess, but things will work out. I did something to hurt your mom and it's going to take time for us to get back to normal" he tried to explain in kid terms.
Grace turned towards her dad with tears in her eyes.
"Daddy, did you say sorry? I want us to be a family" she cried.
Abel huffed and pulled the chair close to him and pulled her into his arms.
He kissed the top of her head.
"I'm sorry babe, sometimes in adult situations, sorry isn't enough. I don't want you to worry though. Your mom and I are always going to be there for you. You have everyone in this club behind you. You will always have a family" he said.
Grace pulled away, "it's not the same daddy. I want you and mama" she replied.
He nodded, "I know babe, me too. We just need to have hope" he replied.
Gracie looked up at her dad with a sad smile, "don't cry daddy" she cupped his face and wiped his tears.
Abel smiled and kissed her hands, "you don't cry. You are too beautiful to cry" he said.
He never wanted this to affect his daughter. What he did to Mia was fucked up and he knew it.
The fact that she even came back and let him be in their daughters' life was a miracle.
It showed what a strong woman she was.
He didn't realize how much this was affecting his little girl.
That gutted him. In that moment, he vowed to make it better.
He owed at least that to his little girl.
"Alright Angel, you want to go to grandma's, my house, or Uncle Tommy's house?" he asked.
"Can we go to Uncle Tommy's house? I want to ask Aunt Leah to paint my nails and have a spa night" she replied.
Abel smiled and nodded.
Gracie was the biggest tomboy there was. She loved being the garage, going for rides, helping her dad and uncles fix cars and everything, but she also loved girly stuff.
She loved dresses and nail polish.
Despite Mia's best efforts, her daughter was far from a girly girl.
He remembered how she used to read all the princess fairytales and Disney stories to the baby while she was pregnant.
As soon as she found out she was having a girl, she started collecting books, clothes, shoes, accessories, everything you could think a little girl would like.
"Isn't it a little early for all that stuff? Can she even hear you reading to her?" he remembers asking.
Mia was organizing the shelf in the nursery when she replied, "it's never too early for her to learn she is a princess. She is already going to be tainted enough with all the testosterone running around here. Let me have my fun" she argued.
Abel let her do whatever she wanted, as long as she was happy. He had never seen her happier than in the early years of their relationship.
She did everything she could to keep her daughter a girly girl, only for her to turn out the biggest tomboy.
"You bet Angel. Go get your stuff packed" he said.
His daughter booked it, scrambling around the room to grab her coloring books and start packing her toys in her bag.
Once they were done, Abel picked up her little Cinderella backpack in one arm and Grace in the other.
He carried them both outside to the car.
Setting Grace down so she could climb in the back of the car and get herself buckled in the car seat while Abel put their bags in the trunk.
He brought the jeep to the clubhouse because he knew that Mia was going to be bringing Gracie over for the weekend.
"Ready babe?" he asked from the driver's seat, looking through the rearview mirror.
Gracie nodded, "ready daddy" she replied.
Abel nodded and made his way out of the clubhouse and his brother's.
They didn't live that far from each other or the clubhouse, so it was a relatively short trip.
Once they were on the way over, Abel called Tommy, as he had left the clubhouse before them.
He told him that they were on their way over.
Abel told his brother what Gracie wanted to do, so Leah could set up everything and get everything ready.
Abel got to Tommy's in no time.
He pulled in next to his brother's bike. He picked up his daughter and carried her to the house.
As soon as he set her down, she ran to the house and knocked on the door.
Tommy answered with a smile, "hi Monkey" he greeted her with a kiss to the top of her head.
As soon as she could, she ran into the house and straight to her Aunt Leah.
"Hi Aunt Leah" she greeted with a big hug.
"Hey Chica, your mom says hello and to give you a big kiss" she pressed her lips to her cheek.
"You saw mama?" Gracie asked.
Leah nodded, "before I left from work" she explained.
Leah could tell Abel wanted to ask her about it.
"Why don't you go to my bathroom and pick out a color" she put her niece down and directed her towards the back of the house.
"What'd she say? How's she doing?" he asked.
Leah crossed her arms across her chest glaring at him. "You really need to ask me that?" she asked.
Abel sighed and wiped a hand over his face. "No, I guess not" he replied.
"She's hurt Abel" Leah stated.
Before he could reply, Grace ran back into the room with a nail polish bottle.
"I'm ready Auntie" she said.
Leah just looked at Abel knowingly before he nodded, and she left.
Leah led Gracie into her master bedroom. She set up the nail polish, UV light, and all types of spa stuff. Abel and Tommy crashed in the living room, one on each couch, in front of the TV.
"So, did you figure out what was up with Grace?" Tommy asked.
Abel leant forward and wiped a hand over his face, "she told me that she wanted her family back. She asked me why I wasn't at the house and if I said sorry to Mia. Two of the best girls in my life are pissed at me. This whole thing is affecting her more than I thought" he said.
Tommy smirked, "you are such an asshole. Of course, she's affected. She wants her family back together. You need to get rid of Tammy and start working on getting Mia back" Tommy said.
Abel let out a big breath and nodded.
He knew this already. Hearing that was nothing new.
People have been telling him that since he left the house.
He knew he needed to do something to fix this. He owed it to his daughter at least.
Before he could say anything else, Grace ran out of the back and straight to her dad.
She had a big smile on her face and her hands held out in front of her.
"Look daddy, Aunt Leah did my nails and my toes purple sparkles" she squealed.
Abel smiled as he held up her hands for a better look.
He kissed her knuckled before smiling up at her, "they are beautiful angel cakes" he replied cupping her cheeks and kissing her forehead.
She pulled away from her dad and went over to show her uncle with the same excitement.
"Wow Princess, they are so sparkly. Aunt Leah did a good job, huh Monkey?" Tommy commented.
Gracie nodded and looked over her shoulder at her aunt with a big smile.
"We are twinsies" she was so happy to get her nail color changed and match the adults in her life.
It was one of her favorite things to do besides 'coloring' tattoos on her dad, Uncle Tommy, and the rest of the guys in the club.
"I set up the guest room for you" Leah said.
Grace looked at her dad excitedly. "We are having a sleepover?" she asked Abel.
He nodded and pulled her into his arms, so she was sitting sideways in his lap.
They hung out for another couple hours, had dinner, took showers and got ready for bed.
Abel and Gracie got settled in the guestroom to get some sleep.
They had a really fun night eating popcorn, watching a movie, and just hanging out overall with Tommy and Leah.
The next morning, they took it even easier than the night before.
Abel helped Gracie wash up and get changed. She wanted to wear her shorts and a t-shirt with her sandals, keeping her toes out.
She wanted to show off her toes to her grandma and grandpa.
"Thanks daddy" she kissed his cheek before giving him a hug.
Abel kissed her temple, "you're welcome, Angel, go find your aunt to do your hair" he replied.
Gracie ran out of the bathroom in their room, calling for her aunt.
"Auntie, can you fix my hair like Elsa?" she yelled throughout the house.
"Of course, come on Monkey" Leah stuck her head out of the bedroom, lifting her niece up to the counter in their bathroom so she could face the mirror.
Once the girls were done getting ready, they all got their jackets and stuff together before they loaded up the car.
Abel helped Grace in his car and buckled her into her seat. He got into the driver side and got ready to leave.
"Ready to go Princess?" he asked.
She nodded, "I'm ready Daddy. I'm excited to see Grandma and show her my nails" Grace explained.
Abel followed his brother and sister-in-law to their mom's house for the family brunch.
It didn't take long until they were both pulling into the driveway, Tommy on his bike and Abel in his jeep.
When they pulled up to Jax and Chloe's house, Chloe was practically bouncing with excitement.
Both Jax and Chloe were excited when they found out the boys were coming to eat.
The kids walked in the house, Abel letting Gracie down as he dropped their stuff off in the living room.
As soon as her feet hit the floor, Grace ran to her grandparents, "look Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Leah did my nails and toes, they are sparkly" she stated lifting her hands up and pointing her toes up.
Jax smiled and held up Gracie's hands, "wow honey, those are beautiful" he stated.
"And Aunt Leah did my hair like Elsa from Frozen" she replied climbing up on his lap.
Jax sat back on the recliner with Gracie in his lap, rocking her while she settled against his chest.
Since Gracie was occupied, Abel and Tommy sat on the table drinking coffee while Leah helped Chloe make the food for their brunch.
The girls noticed that Abel couldn't help keeping his eyes off his daughter. What she said to him really broke his heart last night.
What she said to him last night when they were at the clubhouse really broke his heart.
At only 5 years old, she had so much worry for her family.
He didn't want that for his daughter.
Chloe worried about her son. She could see that he was preoccupied.
"What's wrong Abel?" she asked her oldest.
Abel turned to his mom and shook his head, drinking his coffee.
He didn't want to get his mom involved. He didn't know the simple gesture he made gave him away.
"Is Mia coming tomorrow?" she asked him with a knowing look.
Both Abel and Tommy glanced at each other before turning to their mom.
Everyone was curious about Abel and Mia's relationship, especially his parents.
"I told her about it yesterday Ma, but she' still pissed and keeps pushing me away, so we'll see" he replied.
Chloe looked at her son concerned. "You need to figure this out with her honey" she advised.
Instead of answering their mom like a mature adult, he grabbed the plates of food and called out that the brunch was done.
Jax woke up his granddaughter and carried her to the table and put her next to her dad.
Abel put some waffles and fruit on her plate and cut up her food. He poured her some syrup and gave her a fork.
He was still trying to process everything that happened last night.
It seemed like when they were alone, she was fine but around the club, and especially around the girls in the club, she got quiet and withdrawn.
He wanted his daughter to be a kid.
He didn't want her worrying.
Instead of worrying about school, she was worried about her parents and their family.
"Dig in Princess" Jax said to his grandbaby.
Able looked over at his daughter. "You okay babe?" he asked.
Grace put her fork down and tuned to her dad. "Can I go back to mommy's house now?" she asked.
Abel stopped eating as everyone froze. They all turned to look at Gracie.
Abel turned to fully face his Angel and wrap an arm over the back of her chair.
"What's wrong monkey? Your mom is still at work. Do you want to help me at the shop?" he tried to think of something she liked doing.
"No, I don't want to go to the clubhouse. I want to go home and see mommy" she replied looking like she was going to cry.
"Look Angel, it's like I told you yesterday. Your mom and I are going through some stuff and it's better if we are separate for right now" he said.
Grace narrowed her eyes at her father. "But you are supposed to be home with us. When are you coming back?" she asked.
Abel sighed, "I know babe, but it's not that easy for adults" he replied.
"Daddy, you need to come back. We miss you at home. Mama is so sad and always alone" she got off the table and ran into Abel's old room.
Abel sighed and dropped his head in his hands.
"What was that about?" Jax asked.
"She's pissed at me about Tammy and her mom" he replied.
"Honey, we've all been through tough times. Your dad and I have also been in the thick of it, but we worked through it because, we had you kids" Chloe tried to advise her son.
"Ma, it's not that easy. Mia won't even talk to me" he replied.
"Honey, you need to go talk to your daughter. Make her understand that you need time to work things out with her mom" Chloe stated.
"Let me talk to her" Jax got up and made his way to the back of the house.
He knocked on Abel's door from the hall before swinging it open.
Gracie turned and saw her Grandpa Jax walk in.
He sat at the edge of the bed, "what's going on Princess?" he asked.
"Daddy makes mama sad grandpa. He always makes her cry" she complained.
Jax opened his arms, so she came into his lap and cuddled into him.
"Listen honey, sometimes adults get into some situations that need time to get fixed" he said.
She sighed but nodded. "Yeah, but I miss daddy" she complained.
Jax smiled and rubbed her back in comfort. "I bet he would be really happy to hear that" Jax said.
She nodded and made her way off his lap and out the door, straight into her dad's arms in the living room.
"I'm sorry daddy. I just miss you" she complained.
Abel nodded and squeezed her close. "I know babe. Listen, how about me and you spend the day together" he suggested.
After breakfast, he packed them up. "Thanks Ma" he said giving his mom a hug.
Chloe hugged her son, "I love you, honey, you and Mia will work this out, you just need to have faith" she said.
Abel nodded, "thanks Ma" he replied before grabbing Gracie's bag.
"Let's go Princess" he called out to Gracie.
Abel led them out and got her settled in the car before he made their way back to their house.
When she was born, Abel brought a bike for them to build and restore together. Just because she was a girl, didn't mean Abel was going to follow the tradition that his dad instilled in him to keep passing down.
Abel parked in the driveway and helped Gracie out of the car and into the house.
Once he dropped their stuff down in the foyer closet, he led Gracie into the garage and set her up on his work bench.
Abel cracked the garage, turned on his radio before stripping to a white beater and his infamous blue faded jeans.
He sat Gracie on the ground next to him on a cushion so he could get started.
Grace was beyond excited to do something to help her dad.
She started passing him tools as she continued to talk about how excited she was to rebuild and restore her bike.
Grace was excited to possibly ride her bike with her dad.
It was about midday when Gracie went back into the house to get them some lemonade.
Abel followed her into the house to the kitchen, when he froze.
The house smelled like Mia. Vanilla and all spice.
"Come on daddy" she grabbed his hand and dragged him through the kitchen doorway.
He smiled and followed after her.
She grabbed some cups while he grabbed the pitcher of lemonade from the fridge.
Shaking his head, he closed the fridge and froze in front of it when he noticed the picture of all three of them, wrapped around each other.
The picture brought back all the memories for Abel. He could see them flashing through his mind like a slideshow.
Abel had his arm around Mia's shoulder, hers around his waist, smiling up him dreamily, a blush covering her cheeks, while Abel carried Grace in his other hand.
They looked so happy in the picture, Abel wished they could have that back.
While Gracie poured them some lemonade, Abel made them some sandwiches and chips.
Grace followed her dad outside, so they were sitting on the front steps to eat their lunch.
In the middle of their lunch, a couple of kids came running up the driveway.
"Hi Gracie, want to come play?" one of the little boys asked.
Grace shook her head, "hi Danny, no thanks" she called out.
"Hi Honey, are you okay? Who are you home with?" a young attractive man asked.
Abel put down his plate and stood up, moving in front of Grace, walking towards the end of the driveway.
"Can I help you?" he asked the guy.
Who the hell was this guy coming and approaching his daughter right in front of him.
"Yeah, you can" the guy replied before stepping up to Abel, "I want to make sure Gracie is okay" he had the nerve to add.
Abel tensed, looking back at his daughter and lowered his voice when he turned back to the guy standing in front of his driveway.
"My daughter is just fine" he stated.
The guy put his hands up in surrender and stepped back.
"Sorry man, I didn't realize you were still in the picture. Haven't seen you around, so I just wanted to make sure that Grace was okay" he replied.
Abel could respect that.
"Are we going to have a problem? That's my daughter, so back the fuck off" he growled.
The guy put his hands up in surrender, laughing as he walked away waving at Grace. "See you around honey" he called out.
Abel waited until he was further away from the house before he walked back over and sat next to Grace.
"You good Daddy?" she asked looking up at her dad.
Abel took his plate from her and continued their lunch.
"I am okay babe. You know them?" he asked.
Gracie nodded, "yeah, Danny goes to my school and Mr. Jones is his dad. He always asks about mommy all the time" she informed him.
Abel nodded and took a bite of his sandwich, taking in the information.
"Are they your friends or your mom's friend?" he asked.
Grace continued eating her chips and shook her head.
"Well, I play with Danny sometimes, but Mr. Jones is kind of weird when he asks about Mama" she replied.
Abel nodded and took a chug of lemonade, processing what she said.
This guy was infringing on his territory. He needed to be mindful of that.
After lunch, they continued working on the bike some more.
When it became late enough, Abel got up and wiped his hands on the tool rag.
"I like doing this daddy" Gracie said sitting on a towel next to Abel on the ground.
Abel looked over from over his shoulder with a smile.
"I like this too Babe. It's fun huh? Hopefully when you get older the bike will be done and we'll be able to go on rides together" he stated.
Gracie smiled and nodded, "with Mama?" she asked.
Abel sat next to her and pulled Gracie into his lap.
"Honey, by the time you grow up and this bike this done, your Mama and I will be back together. You might even have a sibling" he mumbled the last part.
"I hope so Daddy" she replied.
"Alright, come on Babe, let's get to the clubhouse. The others are on their way to Charming today" he said.
He had to be there because he was the President now, even though his dad was still part of the club.
"We'll help Grandma Chloe set up and we can start the barbeque on the grill" he informed her.
Grace looked at Abel with a big, bright smile on her face.
Her eyes lit up and that got to him, "is Uncle Creed coming?" she asked as she cleaned up her area and helped Abel clean up the garage.
He looked down at her curiously. What the hell happened between Creed and his girls?
"Yes Princess, both Creed and Jordan are coming. They might be coming tomorrow though. We need their help on something, but I don't know when they are coming" he explained.
Grace put her tool box on the counter in the cabinet.
"That's good. I really miss them. Are Dakota and Indy coming?" she replied.
Abel smirked and shook his head, "no Babe, just the guys are coming Little Miss Nomad" he teased his daughter.
It was cute how his daughter knew and loved everyone on the club, and not just in Charming.
He led her into the house and helped her get cleaned up and changed before leaving her in her room before he went to change.
He took a quick shower and changed into some jeans and his t-shirt, while putting his kutte over his shoulders.
Abel grabbed Gracie's overnight bag and walked over to the living room to find his daughter packing snacks from the kitchen.
"That's okay, I can help Grandma Chloe and Aunt Leah set up the clubhouse" she stated before grabbing her leather jacket and glasses.
She followed her dad out of the house and to the bike.
He strapped her overnight bag in before helping her on the bike and buckling her in.
"Okay Babe?" he asked fixing her helmet and putting on her glasses to protect her from the wind.
Gracie smiled big. She loved her bike rides with her dad.
It was their time together.
Abel returned her smile and clapped her helmet before getting on the bike.
Grace wrapped her arms around her dad's waist, in his kutte pocket.
It didn't take long for him to make it to the clubhouse.
While Gracie was grabbing a new set of clothes for their night, he texted his brother to make sure the girls didn't show up until the kids were sleeping.
He didn't want to make his daughter uncomfortable.
It didn't take long for Abel to make it to the clubhouse. He chose that house for them for that reason.
He wanted her to be closer to the family in case she needed help.
When they pulled up the clubhouse, Aaron was the gate.
Aaron let them in with a wave to Gracie as he opened the gate for them.
Abel backed his bike into his designated spot next to Tommy's.
He parked and unbuckled Gracie from her seat, picked her up and put her next to the bike.
Unbuckling her helmet and helping her take off her jacket and glasses.
"Have fun?" he asked.
She giggled and nodded, wrapped her arms around his waist in a hug. "I loved it Daddy" she replied.
He smiled and nodded, "good Babe. Why don't you go check in with Grandma Chloe and Aunt Leah. I am sure they are in the kitchen" he nodded towards the kitchen.
While Gracie took off to find his mom and Leah, Abel took their stuff to his room and got them settled.
Once he dropped off their stuff, he went to the office to get started on some long-awaited paperwork for the bar.
By the time Abel looked up from the paperwork, hours had gone by.
He looked at his watch and saw that it was already time for dinner, and no one had bothered him for hours.
Abel was starting to get curious about his daughter's whereabouts. He hasn't heard a peep from her.
He didn't realize how long it had been since he had seen her, but it was good because he got a lot of work done.
He got up from around his desk and made his way out to the main room in the clubhouse.
The guys were scattered around the clubhouse, some at the bar, some in the garage, and some outside on the picnic tables.
They were all waiting for the other charters to get there.
Today, as far as Abel knew, Tacoma and Rogue River were coming down. Vegas and LA were coming Sunday.
He walked through the clubhouse until he saw his brother in the kitchen, marinating the chicken and meat.
"Tommy, have you seen Grace?" he asked.
"Pastry kitchen" Tommy replied with a knowing smirk.
Abel gave his brother a curious look. Tommy had a peculiar look on his face.
"What's with the look?" he asked.
Tommy just laughed, "just go look and see what mess that Little Devil is up to" Tommy pointed towards the pastry kitchen with his knife.
Brianna, Ryder's Old Lady, had her own bakery, so when the expansion to the club came up, she asked for a pastry kitchen to make it easier for her to bake for all the club events.
Abel made his way to the back kitchen, following laughter as he walked down the hall.
He couldn't help but smile when he paused at the doorway and watched his daughter laugh and have a good time with Leah, both of them covered in flour.
There was music playing, so they were having the best time, Leah holding up a spatula singing with Gracie, who was standing on a chair, dancing with her aunt.
Abel smiled and leant against the doorframe with his arms crossed across his chest, watching the two have the time of their lives.
There was flour and sprinkles all over the counter.
To get their attention, Abel started clapping when the song ended.
Leah and Gracie turned to see Abel leaning against the doorframe.
"Hi Daddy" Grace greeted.
"Hi Babygirl, it smells so good in here" he said walking into the kitchen and up to Gracie's chair.
Abel leant over her backwards chair and bent to give her a kiss, pulling away with flour and sprinkles over his beard.
"What's going on here?" he asked walking over to the counter to sneak a peek at the cupcakes.
Leah smacked his hand away from the cupcakes. Abel pulled his hand back, feigning hurt.
"Those are for desert" she scolded as she mixed the frosting.
"Oww" he nursed his hand against his chest, throwing a mock glare at Leah.
"Damn girl, that F-ing hurt" he whined.
His sister-in-law laughed, shaking her head at his antics, "oh stop. There are extras on the table," she pointed to the burnt rejects on the table in the kitchen.
He took a seat at the table and helped himself to a reject cupcake when his little princess got off the chair and walked over.
She climbed into his lap and gave her dad a kiss on the cheek.
Grace looked at her dad expectantly. She was waiting to see his reaction to the cupcake.
"Do you like it, Daddy?" Grace asked.
Abel nodded and groaned as he swallowed the bite of cupcake.
It was vanilla and chocolate swirl with chocolate chips.
He groaned around the bite of cake in his mouth. It was delicious.
"I love it Monkey. It's delicious" he pulled her fingers into his mouth to eat the frosting, causing Gracie to squirm and squeal in her dad's lap.
Abel smiled and laughed as he pulled his daughter into his arms, wrapping her in a hug.
"Where's the guys?" Leah asked.
"I just came out of the office. Tommy is in the kitchen, so I am assuming Mac and Joey are on the way with Tacoma and Rogue River" he replied.
That is what they talked about when they determined that the regional charters were supposed to come down.
Leah nodded and figured that it would give her about 2 hours to get everything ready.
"Okay, I'll have Puck and Cole start on the grills. I made some pasta salads, Italian salad, and cold dishes. Let me get cleaned up and I'll start setting up the tables" she said putting the last of the desert in the fridge.
"I can help Aunty" Grace piped up from her dad's lap.
They both smiled at her, "you sure can, but let's go get cleaned up first frosting face" Abel said picking up his daughter.
He carried her back to help her wash her face and change her clothes.
Once they were all freshened up, he followed his daughter out to the common room and directed her to the picnic tables.
He sat at the picnic tables while Gracie ran back and forth helping Gemma, Chloe, and Leah bring out paper plates, cups, napkins, and whatever she could carry that wasn't that heavy.
"Okay babe, I think we are good. Why don't you keep your daddy company" Gemma suggested.
Gracie ran back into the clubhouse and grabbed her bag with her coloring books and markers, "okay Grandma Gemma" she replied.
Abel watched Leah run around calling out orders to the prospects and all the guys doing things.
Cole and Puck were grilling, laughing while Leah ran around like a dictator.
It wasn't long before they heard the grumbling of bikes.
Leah and Grace perked up.
Grace ran to her dad and stuck to his side.
They were looking forward to the Tacoma and Rogue River members coming.
Aaron was at the front gate, so he opened the gate for the other charter members, the guys all standing up as they rolled in.
Abel got up and stood at the entrance of the clubhouse. Grace pushed closer and tighter to her dad.
Abel smiled down at his daughter and picked her up to settle her into his arms.
The six guys parked their bikes and came over to greet Abel.
"Abel, thanks for having us" Freddie greeted with a handshake.
Abel nodded and shifted Gracie so he could shake their hand and greet them.
"Thanks for coming. We have food on the grill and a bunch of stuff ready for you all. Please help yourselves. We look forward to working with you" he replied.
Springer smiled at Gracie, "and who's this?" he asked.
He was new with Rogue River, so he didn't know about Grace or the situation between Abel and Mia.
The rest of the guys knew about her, but no one had met her in person.
There were only a select few from Tacoma and the Nomad's that met Grace.
"This is my daughter Grace. Gracie, these are Freddie, Jose, Carlo, Springer, Matt, and Stone. Can you say hi?" he asked his daughter bouncing her on his hip.
The guys nodded at the little girl as they walked into the club to greet everyone else.
Springer took her extended hand and kissed her knuckles as he bowed.
"It's a pleasure Princess" he greeted like Prince Charming.
She smiled and giggled into Abel's neck.
Abel transferred Grace to Tommy so he could hear about the road and the journey.
He kissed his daughter's cheek before walking over to Mac.
"Everything go, okay?" Abel asked Mac.
Mac nodded as Joey walked over to join the conversation.
"Yeah, the ride was smooth. We had no problems. The Nomad's will be here tomorrow. I talked to Noah, he's coming Creed and Jordan" Joey stated.
Abel nodded as he took in the information. He needed to brace himself for the arrival of Creed.
He needed to figure out how he was going to handle Creed's relationship with Mia.
While Abel was struggling to get his thoughts together, Tommy was having a good time with his niece.
Tommy kissed his niece's cheek and snuggled in the crook of her neck, causing her to laugh and giggle.
Leah smiled and walked over, wrapping her arm around both of them, pressing a kiss to Tommy's lips.
The guys helped themselves to some food and made themselves comfortable at the picnic tables.
Leah was sitting next to Tommy, who had Grace in his lap as they ate their dinner.
Abel walked over with a plate of his own and sat next to his daughter, pulling her from his brother.
He pressed her closer to him, snuggling her into him.
Abel was not looking forward to Creed and Jordan coming. His wife was not as into him, their relationship wasn't as stable as he would have liked it with them coming.
He didn't feel as comfortable with Creed and Mia in the same vicinity as he would if they were in a better relationship.
He was not okay with Creed being closer to Mia as he was with Mia.
They were finally in a good place. He didn't need them here messing everything up.
The tension was so awkward. Abel in his own world, and the rest of the guys oblivious.
Tommy wrapped his arm around Leah's shoulders and pulled her to his side, kissing her temple.
"The food is delicious babe" he mumbled against her temple.
Leah smiled and turned to kiss his cheek. "Thanks honey" she replied helping herself to a wine cooler.
They had family time while the guys were getting food and getting settled until the party really raged on when the kids left.
Tacoma and Rogue River were stuffing their faces.
"Damn, this food is amazing" Stone grumbled as he shoveled food in his mouth.
Leah smiled and blushed at the compliment.
"I am glad you like everything. If you like these, wait until family dinner tomorrow and you taste Mia's sausage and peppers" she said.
"Mia's coming?" Stone asked.
"Damn, I miss her" Freddie added.
Gracie perked up at the mention of her mom. She turned to Stone and Freddie from her dad's lap.
"You know my Mama?" she asked.
Stone nodded, "yup, we sure do. She was my doctor for a long time when she was in school" he informed her.
She smiled and looked at her dad and uncle for confirmation. Abel and Tommy nodded with smiles on their faces.
"It's true. While your mom was in school, before she came back home and you were still in your mommy's belly, she spent some time in Tacoma" Abel explained.
Gracie smiled and nodded as she continued to eat her dinner, "that's really cool" she smiled at them.
The dinner was amazing. It went really smooth.
Grace was more excited than anyone to bring out dessert.
She followed Leah into the kitchen and carried out a couple trays of cake and cookies.
"Uncle Tommy, you have to try my cupcakes" Gracie grabbed his hand and led him to the dessert table.
He laughed at her excitement and picked her up to carry her on the journey.
When they got to the dessert table, Tommy kissed her cheek, "wow babe! These look great. Did you make all these with Aunt Leah?" he asked.
Grace nodded vehemently. She watched as all the guys took a cupcake and put them on their plate.
She sat with her dad, aunt, and uncle, waiting for the guys to try her cupcakes.
Springer was the one who spoke up first, groaning when he took a bite of his cupcake.
"Damn, you did a great job Princess. These are fantastic" he said.
The smile on Gracie's face couldn't get any bigger. It was great for Abel to watch his daughter mingle and get alone with all the guys from Tacoma and Rogue River.
She was a natural boss like her mom.
As it got later in the night and the party started to turn, Leah gathered Gracie and took her home.
Abel didn't stay the party long because the guys were getting pretty crazy. He didn't want any more problems with Tammy and his wife.
He ended up at Tommy's house and had a sleepover with his daughter.
The next morning, Abel woke up first. He smiled at the sight of his daughter curled into his side.
He leant over and kissed her cheek, moving some hair from her face before he got out of bed and made his way out of the room.
By the time he made his way downstairs, Leah was in the middle of making breakfast, and had already made coffee.
"Morning" he greeted.
Leah smiled, "good morning. What's going on?" she asked.
"I have to get going soon. Tommy still sleeping?" he replied.
She shook her head and pointed the spatula at the garage.
Abel took his coffee and made his way to the garage.
He stood in the doorway and watched his younger brother work on a vintage bike he bought a couple of years ago.
"Morning Tommy" he greeted.
Tommy looked up to see his younger brother standing there with a cup of coffee.
"Good morning. What's going on?" he asked, getting up and wiping his hands.
"Nothing. Leah is making breakfast; Gracie is still sleeping. We need to get to the clubhouse soon for Church" Abel informed his brother.
Tommy nodded, "alright, let me just wash up and change" he replied.
By the time the boys walked in together, Leah looked up and sighed.
The Teller boys next to each other were a sight to be seen.
"Jesus" she mumbled to herself.
Tommy smirked, "Morning babe" he walked over and kissed her cheek.
"Get yourselves some breakfast before you go. I'll come by later with Gracie" she said handing them each a plate.
The guys stood at the island and helped themselves to some food.
Tommy shoveled food in his mouth before turning to his brother, "I'm going to shower and then I'll be ready" he said.
Abel laughed, smirking at his little brother, "chew Tommy. I'll wait for you by the bikes" he said.
Tommy nodded as he ran off. Abel watched with a smile, shaking his head at his little brother's antics.
After breakfast, Abel changed and got dressed as he waited for Tommy at the bikes in the driveway.
It wasn't long before Tommy came out with Leah in the doorway, waving as they drove off towards the clubhouse.
When they pulled into the lot, Abel was greeted with Ryder first.
"Hey Prez, what's up?" he asked.
Abel was walking with a purpose.
"Go wake everyone up. It's time for Church" he called.
Abel and Tommy helped themselves to some coffee before making their way into Church.
Abel sat at the head of the table with Tommy on his left with his laptop in front of him.
The guys slowly started trickling in and taking their seats at the table, with the other charter members scattered around the room.
When everyone was in the room, the prospects closed the doors and stood outside the Church doors on guard.
Abel cleared his throat and got everyone's attention.
"Okay, first off, I would like to thank you all for coming. There has been an increase in the H trade around Charming. I have contacted Alvarez and he denied everything, so all we have to do is check up on Darby and figure out what's going on" Abel explained.
The guys all took in the information and nodded.
With all the guys coming in from all the other charters, there would be no problem busting down doors.
"You want us on lockdown?" Tommy asked.
Abel shook his head, "no, not yet. We aren't there yet. Let's just keep a watchful eye out. Since we are full up, some of the guys will have to bunk with SAMRO" he stated.
Tommy nodded and turned back to the guys, "guys, settle in and whoever doesn't have a room, there are empty houses on the compound in the back" he announced to everyone.
"When's Creed coming?" Stone asked.
"He should be rolling up with Jordan anytime" Tommy replied.
Everyone looked at Abel for his reaction. All the old timers knew what it was like between Abel and Creed.
"He'll be staying at the clubhouse" Abel added before clearing his throat.
"Anyone have anything else to say?" he asked.
When no one said anything else, he slammed the gavel, "okay then, Church adjourned" he called.
"Fine by us. You want us to start patrolling now?" Freddie asked.
Once again Abel shook his head. "No, let's wait until after dinner and Mia gets home. I already have the prospects looking into Darby and keeping an eye on him and his stash houses" he said.
Leah was working with Chloe and Gemma to get started on making dinner for the guys.
They were expecting the Nomads, and LA members in the next couple hours.
Mia on the other hand was crazy busy at the hospital.
It seemed like all night she was getting paged left and right.
Around lunch time, she finally had the time to take a break.
She made her way to the cafeteria and got herself to get some tea before she made herself comfortable on the couch in the trauma office and pulled out her cell.
Taking a breath and sagging on the couch, she was finally able to relax.
She also wanted to check in with Abel and ask about Gracie's weekend so far.
"Hey, how's everything going?" she texted.
Abel pulled out his phone at the sound of the chime. He couldn't wipe the smile from his face.
"We are good Dollface. I talked to Grace about things and will update you later. You okay?" he messaged back.
Mia took a sip of her tea and instantly became worried. "Is Grace, okay? What happened? I should be home by 5-6pm" she replied.
If he talked to her, then something must have happened.
He nodded as if she could see him. He knew that she was worried and scared for her daughter.
"Good the guys are all asking about you. Don't worry about Grace, we worked things out" he said.
Mia was now really curious and concerned. She tried to get through to her daughter for months, so she wanted to know how he did it.
"Cool, I have to go but I'll see you later" she finished the conversation.
She put her phone away and went back to the nurse's station.
The rest of the shift and the morning went great.
Once Mia was done with her morning rounds, she made her way back to the office to give a report.
She gave the upcoming dayshift report before making her way to the locker room to see Abby standing there waiting for her with a cup of tea.
Throughout the day, Leah, Gemma, and Chloe finished setting up the tables and food prep for the family dinner they were having.
They were all waiting for Creed and Jordan to roll in.
The Nomads and members from LA rolled in, in the late afternoon.
Gracie came running out of the kitchen when she heard the bikes roll up.
When she stood at the doorway of the clubhouse, she recognized the bikes she saw and started jumping up and down in excitement.
After the guys parked their bikes, and dismounted, Gracie took off running.
"UNCLE CREED!" she squealed as she launched herself into his arms.
Creed smirked and pressed her close to him.
"Hi Peanut, I missed you so much" he pressed her close to him, kissing her temple, "how are you doing? You okay?" he asked.
She nodded and pulled away but kept her arms around his neck. Settled into his arms.
"I missed you too. Me and Mama really missed you and Uncle Jordan" she replied.
He smiled, kissed her cheek again before handing her off to Jordan.
They really did miss the girls.
They really were like a family, glad to see each other.
With Gracie in Jordan's arms, Creed walked over to tensely greet Abel.
"Jordan, Creed, Romeo, Noah, Junior, thanks for coming" Abel said.
The Nomads and members from LA looked at each other, giving them a knowing look.
"Our pleasure. We missed the girls and couldn't wait to see them" Jordan stated.
Abel nodded tensely. He was not enjoying having them at the clubhouse.
"Hey guys, Welcome. There's appetizers and some snacks on the table while I get dinner ready" Leah explained, greeting the guys with hugs and kisses.
"Thanks Leah" Creed greeted as he walked away with Jordan, so they could help themselves to some food.
Leah nodded, her job done welcoming everyone, so she went back to the kitchen to finish getting dinner ready.
She knew that Mia would be home soon to work on the sausage and peppers, so she got those ready for her.
At the hospital, Mia couldn't wait to get home. She was starting to get hungry and tired.
Abby met Mia in the trauma offices so they could catch up and change for their meeting.
The whole weekend shift was crazy for them. They were so busy. Both girls looked exhausted.
Going to this meeting with Ms. Marks was the last thing they really wanted to do.
"Why do we have to do this?" Abby groaned as she changed into a simple black dress with pumps.
Mia also changed into a black pencil skirt and a white button down with some pumps.
"Your guess is as good as mine. We have to just get through this meeting with an already established asshole" she said.
The girls zipped each other up and helped themselves to some coffee and tea on their way up to the supervisor's office.
The girls walked in to see Ms. Marks standing in her office with a tall, broad shouldered, chocolate haired, hunk of a man.
Mia knocked on the door, "Ms. Marks" Abby called, announcing their presence.
Ms. Marks waved them in. "Ah, ladies, please come in, thank you for coming" the supervisors greeted.
The new trauma attending turned to face them with a smile on his face.
Mia met Abby's eyes over her teacup. His dimples and GQ looks were going to cause problems between the employees and for some interesting shifts.
"Hi, I'm Adam Kacey. I look forward to working you both" he said, sticking his hand out for them to shake.
"Abby Knight and this is Mia Teller" Abby introduced them as they all shook hands.
"Nice to meet you both" he greeted.
"Nice to meet you too. So, are you ready for our tour?" Mia asked, wanting to get things moving along.
They all walked through the ER and then through the trauma departments. Both Abby and Mia took turns explaining things.
There were two main trauma teams, so it was very important they explained things and made sure he got it.
When they got back to the trauma offices, Abby and Mia stood next to each other in front of Kacey expectantly.
"Any questions?" Mia asked.
He nodded, crossing his arms across his chest. "So, for each trauma team, you have the trauma attending, resident, a fellow, and nurses. If you have so many specifically trained physicians, then why do you need the nurses?" he replied.
Mia smirked and turned to Abby for her to answer that question.
"I think I'll let Abby answer that" she stated, giving her friend a knowing look.
Abby gave him a narrowed look, "well, Dr. Kacey, if we were running a trauma right now, and you needed etomidate or succs right now to intubate a patient, are you able to leave the patient, run to the med cart and draw up your medication within 10 seconds?" she asked.
He smirked and shook his head, "no" he replied.
Abby nodded, "of course you couldn't. Because it isn't your job to know the med cart like the back of your hand like they. The trauma nurses are trained specifically to know what to expect from the docs and think ahead as to what you may need in a trauma. They stock the trauma rooms and are more familiar with what goes on in here than you will ever be. So, I am going to give you a piece of advice, you want to be successful here, you respect the nurses" she stated.
Adam Kacey put his hands up in surrender and smirked, "my apologies" he replied before turning to Ms. Marks, "I have no more questions. Thank you for the meeting and the tour, I look forward to working with you both" he shook their hands once again before leaving with Ms. Marks.
Abby and Mia went back to Mia's office in the trauma suites.
Their supervisor had already told them that they would be working with Kacey until he got acclimated to the program.
However, despite his good looks, his attitude was going to be a problem.
Once they were alone in the office, they each went off.
"What the fuck was that? Why do we need the nurses? I would pay my entire savings to watch him run a trauma without the help of the nurses" Abby vented.
Mia scoffed as she grabbed her bags and the rest of her belongings. "Abby, we both know he would sink and fail miserably without you guys" she stated.
Abby nodded, letting out a deep breath, "I know, I just can't stand that asshole" she replied.
Mia laughed and smiled, wrapping an arm around her friend's shoulder.
Mia understood. Abby started out working as a ER nurse, then specialized in trauma, then went back to medical school to become a trauma surgeon.
She always tried to look out for the nurses when she could.
"Come on Chica. I'll get you a drink and we can pig out on BBQ at the clubhouse" she tried to cheer her up.
"Damn, that sounds so good" she patted her stomach.
Mia giggled and nodded, following Abby through the hospital as they clocked out and made their way to the garage.
"Follow me to the clubhouse" Mia said in the elevator as they each got off on their own floor.
Mia was waiting for her at the exit of the garage.
She was excited to get home and see her baby girl. She was slightly nervous that Gracie was at the clubhouse with Tammy, and she was still upset.
No one told Mia that Creed and Jordan had got there.
Mia couldn't wait to see her old friends again and catch up.
They were her backbone. They helped her so much when she was in school and were there for her so much.
She missed them so much.
At the Clubhouse…
At the clubhouse, Leah and the girls were in the kitchen cooking up a storm while Tommy and Cole started grilling.
Freddie walked into the kitchen with a bottle of beer and groaned when he saw all the food on the counter.
"Holy Fuck! Please tell me that sausage and peppers are for Mia's recipe" he begged like a five-year-old.
Leah laughed and nodded, "you bet your ass it is. She should be home soon" she replied after checking the time.
The guys were excited to see Mia and catch up with her. While they didn't know all the drama with Abel and Tammy, they were proud of her coming back to Charming for her daughter.
It wasn't twenty minutes after Freddie talked to Mia about her sausage and peppers did, they all saw Mia pull in the lot with Abby right behind her.
The guys were sitting around the fire-pit when one of them started whistling towards the car park.
"Holy Hell"
"Fuck me, look at her"
"She's so fucking hot" they all heard from various members.
Abel turned to see what they were all staring at a woman's ass, his woman's ass encased in a tight black leather pencil skirt bent over the backseat of her car.
He couldn't help but scan her body to see her decked out in fuck-me heels with her wavy strawberry blonde hair flowing down her back.
Abel glared and narrowed his eyes at Mia's ass. She was completely oblivious.
"What the fuck is she doing?" he growled before putting his beer down and stormed over.
He stood behind her, causing Mia to smirk when she felt someone behind her.
Mia stood up straight, turning to see Abel behind her, looking at her with a smirk.
"Hi there" she greeted.
He let his gaze linger and scan her body.
Mia blushed deep, bright red from embarrassment.
"Hi, what the fuck are you wearing? You were not wearing this when you left Friday" he stated.
She chuckled, "I told you I had a meeting today. 'Abby and I had to look nice" she said as Abby walked over and wrapped her arm around Abel's waist in a hug.
"Hey Abbs" he greeted.
"Hey Playboy" she replied.
"Go help yourself to some food. Tommy and Cole are at the grill" he stated.
Abby saluted them as she walked away to get some alcohol and food.
Before either of them could say anything else, they heard feet pounding across the pavement.
"MAMA!" Gracie squealed as she ran across the lot and straight into her mom's arms.
Mia smiled and bent to catch her daughter in her arms, pressing her into her chest.
"Hi Baby. Mommy missed you so much. Did you have fun with your daddy this weekend?" she asked, shifting her up in her arms.
"Yeah Mama, guess what?" Gracie was so excited to tell her about something that happened on her weekend with Abel.
"What?" Mia asked.
"I helped Daddy work on my bike, had a spa day with Aunt Leah, daddy yelled at Mr. Jones, and Uncle Creed came with Uncle Jordan" she exclaimed excitedly.
Mi laughed at how excited her daughter was. They had an eventful weekend.
"So, you worked on your bike and had a spa day huh" she teased before looking at Abel, "and daddy yelled at Mr. Jones, well, Mama will fix it. Let's go find Uncle Creed and Uncle Jordan" she said giving Abel a knowing look.
Gracie nodded really proud of herself and excited that she accomplished all that and really turned her weekend around.
