Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon (but it would be great if I did).

On a note there this next chapter focuses on what happened during the course of Digimon Adventure when Piedmon attacked Homeostasis. Without giving anymore spoilers other than the title has given this will certainly be an epic battle! We know King Yggdrasill is strong and aside from a version we got in Data Squad/Savers, this Yggdrasill is not so how shall I put it? Standoffish? Let's servants fight in her place? No, This King Yggdrasill is consistent with the King Yggdrasill we hear of in Digimon Adventure Tri. So, the next couple of chapters are going to really put all of what had happened into context that will set up the Original Anime Digimon Adventure quite nicely. (And yes, King Yggdrasill has taken the appearance of Hikari in 02 with a different color scheme and godly monstrous powers. I know, I can't get over it either.)

Chapter Thirty-Four: The Assault on the Heavenly Realm: King Yggdrasill Versus the Digimon Sovereign

It pleased Rei greatly as his army marched through, everyone locked in and focused with the mission at hand. Of course they would be all be confused when they found out they were not going to the Digital World. The only other being who had a clue they were going stood right alongside him, a bit confused.

"What ails you Cthulusmon?" he questioned not even turning towards him.

"My Lord, how can I put this?" he said, Rei hearing the uncertainty in his voice. "Not to disobey or question your judgment Lord Kurenada, but do they really know where they are going? It can't be the Digital World, could it?"

"What makes you say that?" he asked not batting an eye.

"Because it doesn't make any sense. Something just feels quite different about that portal."

"An astute observation," Rei agreed. "Sure enough, your instincts prove yourself well," he said stomping on the floor, a bunch of debris shooting up suspended in the air.

He then spread his arms, data flowing out of him onto each of the viral digital stone pieces shifting and turning into strange reflective objects from which he could see through the eyes of a select chosen group-the Dark Masters and even Yggdrasill and a couple Mekanorimon.

"Take a look Cthulusmon," he said. "Look through the gaze of the viral dark digimon and see what they see."

Cthulusmon squinted locking on a Mekanorimon who had just stepped through. Around it clouds surrounded them as if literally masking and wrapping up ancient towers. Statues of angels peaked out through them, a heavenly city to behold.

"Is that?!" Cthulusmon said beyond belief. "That can't be real!" he exclaimed.

"Oh, but it is," Rei smirked. "You see Cthulusmon it's not possible for us to go to the Digital World like this anymore. Perhaps when I had been so much more powerful, but when Homeostasis sealed away a large portion of my power I had to rebuild this entire Kingdom from scratch," he said offhandedly. "I didn't take it too kindly then, nor do I take it now," he said, his eyes darting to and fro through the eyes of the Digimon.

"Then what was the point of all of this?" Cthulusmon questioned incredulously.

'Why don't you consider all of the information?" he said. "How is it possible for me to bypass the Digital World and go straight to the Heavenly realm? Think about all I've been doing."

"Hmm," Cthulusmon pondered, one finger to his lip tapping it. "You created King Ygdrassil as part of your plan to eventually be restored and get all of your power back. You started accomplishing this by converting garbage data from the Digital World bringing it over here. Then King Ygdrassil once she was strong enough started to interfere with the Digimon's minds turning them against the Digital Creator and Homeostasis."

"Good, now keep following that train of thought," Rei said closing his eyes seeing his confused army start to rush at the heavenly places.

"After this King Yggdrasill started to affect the borders of the Digital World as she kept processing data and converting it into Viral Digital Data. The Earth then started to see images of Digimon battling as if it was all just an illusion. And then, eventually Yggdrasill grew into such a power she was at last able to bridge the gap between this world and the Digital World. But.," he added a bit stumped, "But-"

"-Think about it Cthulusmon," Rei said. "Where does the Digital Data from the Digital World come from?"

"It comes from…" he said a bit agitated, "...The Digital Creator."

"That's not necessarily true," Rei corrected him grabbing him by the hand and dragging him forward so he was standing level with him staring at the portal.

"The Digital Creator operates out of self propelling/creative systems. All he does is apply a formula and the system generates itself."

"Just like with Digimon Digital Data Programming," Cthulusmon marveled. "He uses some kind of formula to create the foundations of the Digital World. But I still don't see how that-"

-Cthulusmon paused staring at the portal and then slowly turned to Rei Kurenada wide eyed.

"It seems at last you noticed," Rei snickered. "Even the Digital Creator and Homeostasis need a home base," he said. "And since the Digital Data is recycled to whatever realm they are in, once King Ygdrassil carved through it the data returned to the source."

"Fascinating," Cthulusmon responded. "But tell me, if that's true why don't the Viral Digimon here get pulled along with that data once they enter the portal?"

"Because they follow my programming," Rei said. "Normally they would break down in the portal, but my programming is more than sufficient. In fact, it's even better than the Digital Creator's." he leered confidently.

They both stared in Rei Kurenada smiling as he sifted through all the data pouring in. "Just try it," he challenged watching his digimon start to attack the foundations of the towers. "This battle will only reveal you for the fool you are," he chuckled.

He didn't have long for a response.

Beams reigned down from the sky as holy digimon made their appearance, Rei recognized what appeared to be archer like digimon, a SlashAngemon commanding them with waves of his double bladed arms.

"None shall enter this holy sanctum!" he declared sprinting forward on the wind slashing apart a host of Rei's forces with his 'Heaven's Ripper' attack. "Ready the arrows of judgment!"

With that the archers appearing to be Pidomon glistening gold bows shot forth arrows decimating a chunk of his forces, but fortunately the metal digimon seemed unharmed.

"Just where are we going?" One of his minions cried out. "I thought we were going to the Digital World!"

"We're going wherever our Lord commands us!" A LadyDevimon scowled. "Now all forces move forward!"

With that the Digimon fired back on their attack, one of the archer angels succumbing to their wounds, but instantly healing using their mega heal move.

"Lord Kurenada!" a Gazimon shouted. "Our attacks are ineffective!"

"Then let me take care of this!" a LadyDevimon shouted. "Darkness wave!" she cried as a stream of black leathery shadow bats approached the gate, a stream of Angels shooting at the bats but, the bats chewing through them.

"Let's see how you handle that!" LadyDevimon taunted.

SlashAngemon groaned out holding his arms out in front of the other angels.

"Holy Empada!" He cried out, a golden barrier of a cross protecting the angels pushing forward and dissolving the bats.

"That's no fair!" a Gazimon groaned. "We're sitting ducks out here just waiting for them to pick us off!"

"Patience," Rei said calmly. "Serve your purpose and die with dignity. Besides, the back up is soon to arrive," he chuckled.

Rei switched viewpoints staring through the eyes of a Mekanorimon. Piedmon lie in wait not daring to approach the citadel quite yet.

"That's good," Rei said. "Once the enemy forces are distracted that's when you will go in and make your move. Do not take one step until the entire enemy force is engaged," he scolded.

"Absolutely," Piedmon grinned. "And that's when we will steal the show."

"Where are the others?" Rei asked.

"In place," he said. "It is a brilliant plan."

"Flattery will get you nowhere friend," Rei said glancing towards Yggdrasil's side. She was apparently isolated in some corner attacking the actual building with her dark claw-like appendages composed of viral digital data. She clean-swept a line of Lopmon and Terriermon and even engaged a Gargomon and Rapidmon dispatching both with little effort.

King Yggdrasill licked her lips and then took out another sucker savoring it. Her claws of terror caused massive damaging slashing anything into shreds it could come in contact with, Ygdrassil wielding them as near extensions of herself.

Rei couldn't help but indulge himself enjoying how happy she looked causing such catastrophe, the heavens themselves shaking.

"What is that monstrosity?" a Unimon shouted.

"We cannot let that thing destroy our Citadel! Annihilate it!"

A valiant group of Pidomon angels came out to face Yggdrasill led by Darcmon. Her golden angelic wings gleamed brilliantly with her shimmering sword, staff, and boots, the wings of her tiara on her head dancing with her crimson turban and girdle. She cried out 'La Pucelle' , her movements intensifying as her sword concentrated evermore with power with each motion as she went closer to Ygdrassil easily fending off her attacks with the claws.

One of them slashed her face,-three claw marks the fortunate mark of survival as it could have easily forced her head right off of of her body. She winced gritting her teeth as she parried two claws that came together creating a slight opening in Yggdrasil's defenses.

"All forces converge right here! This is our only chance!" she shouted. With that she called out "Dancing Sword" furiously jabbed her sword and staff towards Yggdrasill, her movements confident, a smile spreading across her face as if thinking she had caused a lot of damage, but Yggdrasill just kept munching on her sucker, the other angels starting to surround her.

"Now!" one of them shouted. "Give it all you have everyone!"

With that they all said in unison 'Fire Feather' as their wings burst into holy flames and pummeled Yggdrasill. She glanced towards them a bit annoyed wrapping her arms around her body.

"We have her on the defense!" Darcmon shouted joyfully. "Now keep her from moving!"

"Yes commander" one of them shouted. They all lit up in light auras declaring 'Pido Speed' as they all swarmed around her in a concentric circle to such a degree the winds themselves started to ensnare her in a cage of winds.

"Now finish her off!" Darcmon shouted, each of them saying in unison 'Apollo Tornado, creating a massive tornado around her with harsh fiercesome winds. They then used their Pido Speed taking their gleaming holy rods and creating light spear tips at the end pushed themselves with full force into the tornado stabbing Ygdrassil from all sides.

"Victory!" Darcmon shouted raising her sword, only for Yggdrasill to use her arms which had blocked the spears and fling them all to the ground and into the tower deleting some, but massively injuring others, the last traces of a breeze having all but vanished.

Some of them groaned out 'Mega Heal' restoring themselves, but also completely exhausting their energy.

"What a monster," Darcmon shivered, Yggdrasil's eyes locking on her.

Darcmon gripped her sword shakily and lunged at her, the other Pidomon rushing forth with Pido speed for support. However, Ygdrassil gracefully avoided them as they started to jab their spears and fire feathers blasting attacks at her. She dodged all of them effortlessly slashing apart her enemies into digital pieces, even going so far as to maneuver her way behind Darcmon, tearing off an arm, then another arm, a leg, another leg, and finally her head letting the Digital Data drench over her.

"M-monster!" one of the surviving Pidomon shouted. "She's a monster!"

"Me?" she questioned pointing to herself." Oh no. I am not a digimon. I am so much better," she grinned evilly casting her claws upon the next victim.

Rei had grown bored watching her fight, but in the distance from the eyes of a Mekanorimon he knew at last they had caught the attention of the most powerful guardians.

Yggdrasill glanced up as the four Digimon Sovereign converged, each wielding their own omnipotent power.

"Cease this futility!" Azulongmon shouted. "Who dares to invade the realm of the supreme highest?"

"Just a passerby," King Yggdrasill said whimsically.

"Be it friend or foe this area is most sacred!" cried Zhuqiaomon. "Entering in is on pain of a thousand deletions!"

"Sounds fun," she said licking her lips.

Approaching from the west Baihumon gritted his teeth. "You think this is a game? Our domains will not be violated. You will pay the price!" he roared about ready to jump on her, but he stopped at the last minute, King Yggdrasill staring him down intimidating him like a puppy who had just gotten scolded.

"Baihumon what is the matter with you?" Ebonwumon retorted. "You going to let this little girl walk you around like a pet on a leash?"

"Do not mock me!" he growled. "That is no mere little girl!" he declared as all of the digimon surrounded King Yggdrasill.

"Indeed," Zhuqiaomon agreed. "She possesses the data of Homeostasis!" he said stirring with rage and feathery fire.

"It is forbidden then!" Ebonwumon declared. "It is our solemn duty to purify the evil that would dare take part of Homeostasis herself!"

"Are you done?" Yggdrasill asked taking out her sucker and looking at it.

"Do not mock the heavenly guardians!" Baihumon barked.

"It may seem like overkill, but we must combine our powers!" Azulongmon declared, each of them preparing their signature attacks.

King Yggdrasill seemed bored to Rei Kurenada, but still the situation was not a dire one enough for him to strike.

With that they unleashed devastating jousts of divine lightning, fiery phoenix flames smoldering bronze blasts, and icy black hail. A mighty explosion converged around King Ygdrassil as the impact instantly annihilated anyone under a champion level and even some ultimate

"She must be a pile of digital dust right now," Zhuqiaomon chuckled.

"Careful Zhuqiaomon," Azulongmon cautioned, "We must confirm her destruction first. Only then can we declare victory."

"Then I'll declare it," Baihumon roared. "We've won! The attacking forces will now be annihilated."

"I'll second that then," Ebonwumon said nodding both turtle heads affirmatively. "We'll pick 'em apart one by one."

"Don't be so sure," a voice said darkly within the fading explosion.

A crunching sound echoed out from inside and instantly King Yggdrasill surrounded herself in a cloud of claws moving at massive speeds slashing apart anything around her.

"What is this madness?!" Azulongmon cried out.

He dodged a claw, each of the Digimon Sovereign on their toes.

"Such a monstrosity!" Baihumon groaned. "It's like a living Maelstrom!"

"Don't let it touch you!" Ebonwumon cautioned.

They all did their best blasting out their best attacks of flames, concentrated aurora elemental blasts, dragon waves, and crimson flames, but nothing could break through the scourging winds, the claws like a flail decimating anything they touched.

"We must protect the sanctuary!" Azulongmon winced. "It's power must be contained!"

Despite their best efforts, a claw ran through the underbelly of Azulongmon slitting it all the way down causing him intense pain.

"Azulongmon!" Zhuqiaomon shouted. He wreathed himself in flame unleashing a phoenix fury surrounding the maelstrom in relentless flame.

"No stop!" Ebonwumon shouted.

"You fool!" Baihumon howled. "You've only made it worse!"

Indeed, to Rei the Maelstrom had now bee enveloped in fire, the surroundings starting to melt with the fervent heat.

Ebonwumon groaned out unleashing from it's breath a strange black mist. Appearing to lean on his back legs he stomping severely causing a mega quake in it's direction. The force tore apart the ground, from beneath stretching out it's vines bursting from inside it latching onto whatever was in there despite taking some pretty heavy hits. But even watching Rei knew better. It had no digital data to it which meant it had to have been an illusion of some kind so Yggdrasill would lower down her guard. He clenched his teeth a curt smile knowing how far Yggdrasill was beyond all of them.

In the meanwhile the flames from Zhuqiaomon wrapped themselves around the illusive tentacles all the way towards his body.

"Baihumon!" It's your turn!" Ebonwumon rasped taking in the flames despite them only being an illusion. It only proved the flames of Zhuqiaomon were that powerful to attach to illusion magic.

"Be purged!" Baihumon burst out with a strong bronze cannon wrapping around the mire.

"And now us!" Azulongmon groaned unleashing a combined lightning and ice aurora ray upon the calmed Maelstrom dispersing everything into ash around it, the Maelstrom at last subsiding.

Rei stared curiously inside having for a moment forgotten about the mission. He was not at all surprised to find it empty.

"That's it. We have attained victory," Zhuqiaomon chirped falling to the ground covered in injuries, many of his feathers ruffled and plucked.

"What a foe that was!" Baihumon huffed. "I could have taken him on by myself though."

"Sure you could," Ebonwumon scoffed. "And I could maintain my form with just one 'turtleneck,'" he joked.

"We have no time to remain idle," Baihumon said shaking his head as if trying to shake off fatigue. A scar over his eye irritated him, but despite the slashed wounds he remained standing.

"Then let us be off," Azulongmon said injecting himself with lightning, surging in strength again.

One by one each of the Digimon shook off their injuries as if they were nothing once more, Rei Kurenada impressed.

"No wonder they were known as the Digimon Sovereign. The Holy Sovereign. The guardians of each of the Quadrants of the Digital World," Rei said aloud one hand on across his face. A slow sinister grin spread across his face.

"But...if that's all they have," he said sinisterly witnessing as the skies started to swarm above the Heavenly Realm, "Then they'll be nothing but chew toys for her."

Each of the Holy Sovereign stared up in shock as the skies darkened quickly from fluffy clouds to a tempest of winds, rain clouds swarming the land.

"What is this data?" Zhuqiaomon questioned.

"It's so intense! I've never felt anything like it!" Baihumon huffed.

"What's all this then?" Ebonwumon chuckled, one of his other heads scolding him. "Chin up. This is no laughing matter!"

"Well at least if I can't crack a joke maybe I'll crack a spine!" his other head groaned annoyed with the other.

"Shh! Be quiet!" Azulongmon hushed them, as they all stared up at the clouds, the clouds slowly taking shape.

Rei noticed while all battles were being fought that all of that had stopped, an eerie darkness blowing out dark winds.

"Yes, you should have much to fear," Rei said impressed, even feeling the vibrating viral digital data emanating from her from the other dimension. He couldn't help but shiver with joy at how well things were going.

His sinister expression twisted in even more disdain for them at their prideful cadence. He remembered what they did to him during their last encounter, and, if it was not for his plan he would have seen them be carved and splattered in pieces all over the cathedral to shock his adversary.

"You may serve Homeostasis with fear and reverence, but you have never seen anything like her who will make you beg for your undoing just to be away from her presence."

With that every being present gawked as the clouds took on the form of massive claws and bulky arms bigger than most digimon. Strange appendages shot out from the claws gnashing teeth drooling with anticipation as there saliva dripped down from the sky like rain…

"Oh heavens," Azulongmon shuddered.

"If that thing comes down from the clouds all will be lost!" Baihumon lamented. "We have to destroy it at a distance!"

"But how?" Ebonwumon panted. "That thing will chew anything up in it's path! I can barely move my legs!" he chuckled nervously.

Rei steeled himself witnessing how magnificent the parts of Ygdrassil he could see, it's head and body still concealed by clouds. He had to admit if any digimon probably saw her face they would probably evaporate on the spot.

With that he glanced around pleased by everyone's reactions, but the Dark Masters were also equally perplexed by it.

"Piedmon!" Rei snapped, catching his attention. "What are you doing? Now is the opportune time!"

Piedmon shook his head a bit, sweat dripping from his forehead. "Yes my Lord," he said regaining his composure. "Mekanorimon follow me!"

Rei watched him run having renewed his mental state. He put his fingertip in between his teeth and bit down.

"I'm surprised they all were distracted," Cthulusmon noticed. "But then again with such a fiercesome monster as her, I suppose I would be immobilized."

Rei smirked turning away from him. "With Homeostasis's attention focused on Isai, she's helpless as King Yggdrasill tears apart her dimension," he chuckled. "She'll return home without a throne. Just as I had returned," he said in disgust.

"And with her disgraced who knows what move the Digital Creator will pull?" he wondered whimsically. He glanced at the insignificant creatures petrified as if awaiting imminent death.

"If you're not going to move maybe I should just exterminate you all," he chuckled holding out his hands around the image of the Holy Sovereign.

"King Yggdrasill enjoy this five dish course meal," he started to laugh maniacally even for him. He couldn't help how good it felt to bring them to their knees.

"Make them suffer," he seethed with his teeth closed. "Make them beg for death before their end!"

Her hands reached forward towards the sovereign, the tentacles screaming over as they all barely dodged their attacks, countering with their own signature moves taking out sharp mouthed tentacles, but instantly them regenerating from the clouds with a vengeance.

"Is this all we're good for?" Ebonwumon mused. "Even us Sovereign can't stand up against her!"

"But we can't give up!" Baihumon barked biting the neck of a mouthed tentacle and then disintegrating it clamping down. "There must be a way we can win!"

Rei ignored them turning around having had a small taste of victory.

He walked over to his throne and sat down on it enjoying himself bringing the screen with him.

"Cthulusmon," he grinned. "Why don't you go and get it for me?"

"Get?" Cthulusmon questioned. "Get what my Lord?"

"That tasty little beverage I have been brewing and aging for quite some time," he said. "I want something...festive."

As all-out war continued, the holy line of Digimon struggling to stay alive, Piedmon and the Mekanorimon infiltrated the Citadel opening up pathways.

"Destroy anyone in your sight," he commanded. "We're looking for toys we can use against Homeostasis," he chuckled. "Maybe I'll add it to my collection."

Strangely no digimon showed themselves, but surprisingly these strange cloaked figure beings manned stations as if coordinating data to the Digital World. Piedmon chuckled wickedly unleashing the Mekanorimon on them.

"Oh Homeostasis," Rei chuckled, Cthulusmon holding out a glass and pouring in a very refined beverage steeped in negativity, "That's a no no," he said sipping the drink savoring it. "To think you would model servant data off of human beings…is reprehensible," he leered. "So as a gift for you, I will have their corpses waiting for you upon your return," he said sipping his drink some more.

One of them working on a cable darted over to the machine of a fallen comrade and hit a button, swarms of Guardromon appearing out of nowhere.

"Don't think I've been here just twiddling my thumbs," he snickered as a current ran through the Digimon, viral negative data affecting them from Yggdrasill. Machines were easily hijacked with such shoddy programming and much easier to manipulate after all.

"Now turn your affections back at your masters," he gestured holding out his drink. They instantly blasted the other 'cloaks' as Rei would call them,. The cloaks were many, but they were fragile, Piedmon's trump sword finishing off one of them.

"Enough of this," Piedmon chuckled. "Let's move onto another room."

The Guardromon followed him taking out more 'cloaks' on the way, none of Homeostasis's defense systems proving any better.

Rei also seemed puzzled by this. For being her dimension, her protection was certainly lacking. Indeed the digimon did not seem like they were putting up much of a fight.

"Maybe I overplayed my hand," Rei considered turning his head sideways staring up at them dangerously.

"Nonsense my Lord," Cthulusmon gently disagreed with him. "You are Rei Kurenada. You don't make mistakes or misread the situation," he said firmly. "At least that's what I believe."

Rei closed his mouth grimacing instantly turning it into a malevolent grin. "And you do well to do that," he said. "But our enemy is clever as well. It almost feels like I" m missing something," he considered staring at the battle.

By all accounts everything was in his favor. Piedmon was clearing house. The Digimon Sovereign and enemy Digimon were about to wet themselves, and he had them all on the ropes. Yet something about the whole situation still seemed unsettling like he had missed something important.

"Piedmon, is there really nothing there? You haven't come across anything suspicious?" Rei asked.

"Nothing yet my Lord," Piedmon said without any effort throwing a trump sword taking out a cloak. "It is quite the mystery I should say."

"I wonder who even is commanding the place," Rei wondered. "Homeostasis and the Digital Creator are nowhere in sight. How are the other forces under the other Dark Masters?"

"Well," Machinedramon growled blasting a tower bringing it down as both holy digimon and cloaks got out of his way. "If whatever we need is important enough it will withstand our attacks."

Rei nodded his head. "Enjoy yourself to your hearts content Metal Dragon," he chuckled.

"And what of you Puppetmon?"

"Just bashing my way through," he said holding up a cloak on strings. "I made a couple marionette's here. They make good decoys while we play hide and seek with the survivors."

"I am glad your having fun," Rei agreed. "And what of that bastard of an angel SlashAngemon Metal Seadramon?"

He roared out heavily, an Ultimate Stream decimating SlashAngemon and any surviving angelic digimon on the wall.

"No trouble here," he wreathed through smoke in his teeth. "But I too came up empty."

"It's certainly odd," Rei said his hand to his chin.

"Your thoughts my Lord?" Cthulusmon said pouring him another beverage.

"It's strange," he said to them all. "Four towers, four opposite sides. And yet even with them being destroyed there is nothing. Yet, for there to be nothing within the center of those four towers is equally perplexing. Just what is there Piedmon?"

"Hmm?" he wondered aloud. "Just a garden filled with flowers. But trust me they won't live very long."

"Anything else?"

"A statue," Puppetmon said.

"A statue?"

"Of What?"

"Well, there are eleven actually."

"Eleven statues? That just can't be coincidence. Go inspect the one in the center," Rei commanded.

With that Piedmon whimsically bounced his way over to it.

"Why what do we have here hmmm?" he said playfully, Rei inspecting the statue. "It looks to me like a digimon," he said touching it. Instantly the statue started to shake, shedding layers of stone as a digimon that looked like an angelic rabbit shown forth brilliance.

In it's place where it stood, a strange glyph appeared underneath it.

"What is this?" Piedmon said staring down at it.

Instantly from above blisters of light burst forth from Cherubimon down on him.

He performed a hand trick bouncing away throwing knives at his target afterward, Cherubimon groaning as it was struck.

"Not enough to bring you down hmm?"

"Then try this?" he giggled. "Clown trick!"

Cherubimon responded sending down needles of light from it's wings, only for the attack to reflect them back at him pinning him against the rubble of a tower.

"Still in one piece huh?" Puppetmon chuckled as all four approached him.

"Let's end this one with a bang," Machinedramon chuckled aiming his cannons.

"Sounds good, I'm in,' Metal Seadramon huffed aiming his snout.

With that all of them converged their most powerful attacks on it, Cherubimon disintegrating into pieces.

"That wasn't very fun," Piedmon said crossing his arms.

"Stick with the mission," Rei said. "Go find-"

"-Boss!" Puppetmon said surprised. "What kind of game is this?" he asked, the digital bits of Cherubimon flying to each of the other statues.

Instantly they all lit up, each of them transforming into what appeared to be...armored digimon?"

"I don't think I have seen those types before," Rei noticed keeping a keen eye on them. "Neither do they show up in my registry of all the digimon data translated to the Dark Ocean."

"I have a thought," Cthulusmon said. "Perhaps they are guardians of some kind like Cherubimon."

"Guardians?"

"Yes, shields to protect the powers they are watching over. Or else why would these things activate?"

"They also have some odd symbols," Piedmon noticed.

"No," Rei said studying them, a strange surreal feeling permeating through his viral digital programming down to his core. He felt as if those symbols would cause him damage and would prove to be detrimental to his cause unless he could manipulate the power emanating from them.

"Those are not just symbols," Rei confirmed staring deeply at the threat they posed.

"Then what are they?" Cthulusmon questioned

Rei held his breath, the word flowing out from his mouth as if the entire war against the Digital Creator and Homeostasis hung in the balance...

"…Crests…"
