I woke in the morning and prepared to head to the bathroom. It was Friday and I hadn't seen Stefan since Sunday. I couldn't believe that he just decided to ghost me like that. It seemed like everything went from good to bad over the course of an hour. The only consolation is that I hadn't seen Damon either. I opened the door to mine and Elena's bathroom and found Vicki…wearing a tank top and panties, brushing her teeth. What the fuck?
"What the fuck are you doing in my bathroom…and my house?" I asked her. I was royally confused to say the least.
"I'm almost done." Vicki replied with a mouthful of toothpaste. Were Vicki and Elena experimenting with lesbianism? It also meant that I would have to shower later.
I got dressed and headed downstairs where Jenna was at the table. I was a little bit cranky because I hadn't been able to take my shower. I wondered if I could take one at school, but I didn't know if I would have enough time for it.
"Jenna, are you aware of what's going on up there because I sure as hell am not." I replied.
"Elena snuck her in last night." She explained. Were they actually experimenting with lesbianism? I couldn't believe it. I didn't think Elena was like gay. Also, it had to be weird to date your ex's sibling.
"And you're okay with this?" I asked. If my sister was gay, I didn't have a problem with it, but Vicki was not a good influence. She was worse than I was. I knew that she was kind of a friend of mine, but that didn't mean that I wanted her dating my sister. I supposed that it did mean that she wouldn't be interested in dating Stefan, if I ever saw him again that was.
"She could be a little craftier and try to get her out, but yeah. I'm going to let you girls make your own mistakes." She explained as I poured myself some Raisin Bran. I was glad that we had good cereal instead of something like generic bran flakes. Also, why did she think that I was making mistakes. She had also let me get own my motorcycle. I just couldn't drink before going on it and I had to wear a helmet. "So, I wanted to tell you that I won't be home for dinner tonight."
"Why not?" I questioned. It did cause a bit of a conundrum for what I was going to have for dinner because I didn't know how to cook anything.
"Logan asked me out." She responded. Why was she going out with him? I thought she hated him.
"You said yes? How could you go out with someone who forced you out of town?" I inquired.
"I'm going to show up and torture him all night." She explained. That just seemed pretty petty. Not to mention, I wasn't sure if I even bought it. "Speaking of guys, have you heard from Stefan?"
"He sent me a voicemail, but I deleted it." I answered. "Anything that he wants to say to me, he needs to say in person. That is if I'm ever going to see him again."
"You should call him." She suggested. "Do what I'm going to do. Make him beg for your forgiveness and you can decide whether or not you want to take him back."
"We were never together, so there's nothing to take back." I pointed out before I grabbed my bag and my helmet. "I need to get to school. "
I had to admit that I did like having the ability to go places on my own without having to walk. Driving a motorcycle was a lot like driving a bike. It was a little hard to find a parking spot for it though.
As soon as I got there, I noticed Caroline talking about the bikini carwash that was tomorrow…that I would have to wear a bikini to. I didn't want to go to that, but I was pretty sure that there was no way that I could get out of it since I was a cheerleader. I had never worn a bikini before, even though I did have some. I was afraid that everyone was going to be looking at me.
"Hi." Stefan interrupted me. It seemed like he could show up as quickly as he could disappear. I didn't say anything. I needed to let him know that I was pissed at him for ghosting me. Who does that to their best friend? Granted he was my only friend, so I supposed that made him my best friend by default. He looked like he had something to say. "I'm sorry that I haven't been around. I was dealing with Damon."
"That doesn't tell me anything." I pointed out as I crossed my arms over my chest before I sighed. What exactly did he mean dealing with him? It sounded like a term for having him killed. "Did you deal with him? Was it really something took a full 96 hours nonstop?"
"I know you don't understand, but can I have a chance to explain?" He requested. I sighed. I supposed that I could at least give him a chance to explain himself. I was pretty sure that he wasn't intentionally trying to hurt me.
"Sure, when?" I asked. I also didn't have any other friends that I could talk to. It was kind of unfortunate.
"I have to be home right after school, but how about at the Grill at 4:00?" He suggested. That made me wonder what he was going to be doing after school, but I supposed that I didn't need to know that. It just seemed like he had a lot of secrets and I really wanted to know what he was hiding from me. However, I didn't want to ruin our friendship to find out.
"Stefan, where's Damon?" Caroline interrupted. I really hoped that she wasn't still pining for him. She probably needed some therapy for what he did to her. "He has some serious apologizing to do."
"He's gone, Caroline." Stefan replied. I still wondered how he was gone. I didn't know how I felt about the possibility that Stefan killed him. I also wasn't sure why that the was the first place that my mind went.
"When is he coming back?" The blonde persisted. Hopefully he wouldn't come back.
"Never." Stefan answered. That was probably something that I needed to ask him. At that point, he walked away.
"This is good news, Caroline." I told her after he left. She needed to know that she didn't need him.
"I know that." She replied. "So, you need to be ready for the car wash tomorrow. Wear your best bikini.'
"Do I really have to go to this?" I questioned.
"Yes. Besides it's for a great cause." She declared. I was pretty sure that I didn't know what the great cause was.
"I don't know if I'm comfortable wearing a bikini." I pointed out. Hopefully, I would be able to convince her even though I knew she could be very set in her ways at times.
"You need to wear a bikini. All of us are going to." She told me. I thought that maybe I should have pointed out that she was the one who begged me to join the squad and we hadn't even cheered because of the coach dying. You would think that there would be an assistant coach that could take over if anything happened to the coach, like him dying or quitting in the middle of the season.
I arrived at the Grill at 4:02. Figuring he was already there, I began to look for him, but I didn't see him, only Matt. Why wasn't he there yet? Usually when you ask someone to meet you, it's generally a good idea to be there first. Maybe he was and I just hadn't seen him.
"Hey, Matt, have you never seen Stefan?" I asked. He was by the pool table.
"No." Matt replied. I hoped that he wasn't going to bail on me. "But if you want to kill some time we can rack."
Since I had nothing better to do, I took a cue stick from him. I hadn't played pool in a while. I actually had played with him before, but I was a guy back then. I still couldn't figure out how I had suddenly transformed into a girl.
"So, I have something that I need to you." I explained as I prepared to hit the ball. I wondered how he was going to react to it. "Your sister and my sister are…having sex."
"What?" He asked in pure bafflement. It seemed like it was pretty much the same reaction that I had had.
"Yeah, I found Vicki half-dressed in my bathroom this morning." I declared. It was more of Vicki than I thought that I would ever see.
We ended up talking about things for nearly an hour. You know I had never tried to become friends with Matt before. He was a good guy even though he really wasn't that interesting.
"How late is he?" The quarterback questioned. I looked at my watch and noted it was almost 5:00.
"It's almost an hour now." I responded. He looked at me. "I'm not going to talk about boys with you."
"It's not like I'm not a boy or anything." He quipped. I sighed. He didn't even know that I used to be one too. I wished that I was able to tell people.
"Okay, do you like Stefan?" I asked. "I'm also saying that he's not my boyfriend. I don't know who started it, but it's not true."
"Why what's he done?" Matt replied. I couldn't believe that he instantly sensed the problem.
"It's not any one thing but he's very secretive." I explained.
"So do you think he's a serial killer?" Matt quipped. I mean I considered that he had killed his brother at least.
"No, but we hardly know anything about him." I pointed out.
"Well, we know he's good at football, is a loner, but I actually think he's a good guy." Matt responded.
"So, am I just being unreasonable?" I questioned.
"Well one thing is I think you like him, but I also think you should talk to him." He declared. I didn't like him like that. It was perfectly reasonable for a boy and girl…who used to be a boy to be friends.
"Talk to who?" Stefan asked. Why did he keep showing up completely unannounced? He looked at me. "I'm sorry I'm late."
"Where were you?" I replied angrily. Did he mean Central Time or something?
"I'm gonna go." Matt announced, making his exit. He probably sensed that things weren't going to go well.
"I got held up. There was this thing with my uncle." He told me. I couldn't help but realize that I'd never met this uncle. "I'm really sorry."
"Couldn't you have told me that you were going to be an hour late?" I questioned. I knew that I needed to calm down even though I was in a pretty bad mood after everything. "Fuck it, let's just talk. Why are you being so secretive?"
"I know you." Some random guy interrupted. I looked and saw that it was an old black man. "My God you haven't aged a day."
"I think you have me confused for someone else." Stefan told him. Who was that guy? We walked away from man, and I looked at him. What was he talking about?
"What the hell was that?" I asked. He couldn't find anything to say. "Okay, bye. I guess we're not friends anymore."
I went home and went straight to my room. I laid myself down on my bed because I just wanted to sulk. I couldn't help but wonder if maybe I should have gotten something to eat while I was there, but I didn't want to be around him, and it was also too early for dinner. I felt a little tired. I couldn't help but fall asleep.
I woke up about an hour later. I forgot to wash off my makeup first. Hopefully it wasn't smudged.
"What are you doing?" Elena asked me. She was standing in my doorway. I kind of wished that I had something to drink. I wanted to be drunk at the moment.
"Is Vicki in your room?" I replied. I actually wasn't sure. She needed to talk to me about that because I still didn't know how long the two of them had been together.
"Stop deflecting." She ordered. I thought it was a valid question.
"Stefan and I aren't going to be friends anymore, okay." I declared. "Now will you leave me alone?"
"You should get something to eat." She suggested. I decided to do what she said, but only because I didn't want to hear her and Vicki fucking down the hall, even though I wasn't completely sure if she was even there. I didn't know what I would eat, but there had to be something edible in the fridge, didn't there?
I walked downstairs and heard sounds from the kitchen. Why were there sounds? Had Jenna bailed on her date?
"Jenna, I thought you were…Stefan." I said as I walked into the kitchen and noticed who was inside of it. He had some pots and pans out. How did he get in here…Elena. Elena must have let him in. She was still trying to get me to date him. "What are you doing here?"
"Cooking. Elena said you like chicken parmesan and I happen to be quite the chef." He explained. "Italian roots demand it you know. I can even make my own mozzarella, but tonight is store-bought."
"It's okay that I'm confused because I wasn't expecting to see you again ever." I responded. As soon as I said that, I realized that was impossible. Also, why would he make his own cheese? And how? He didn't have any cows. Despite the fact that we were a small town, there weren't any cows in Mystic Falls.
"I realized that you were right about the secrets, and I thought that if you wanted to dump me, you should at least get to know who you're dumping." He pointed out, seeming unaware that I couldn't dump him if we weren't together.
"Stefan…" I started. However, before I could get another word in her cut me off.
"Let's start with Katherine." He interrupted. "She was very beautiful, one of the most beautiful girls that I've ever seen, at least until recently that is. She had this really obnoxious laugh that made you laugh, but she also was very bratty and impatient and vindictive. I don't know which one of me and Damon dated her first, but I do regret that I wasn't able to make it right with him before she died."
"Wow." I commented. I couldn't help but wonder if he was referring to me as the recent beautiful girl. I blushed at the thought of it.
"But enough about Katherine, let's talk about me." He replied cheekily. I couldn't help but giggle at that. I hated when I did that. "I love to watch old movies. I'm a big Scorsese fan, especially Taxi Driver. For books, I love Fitzgerald and my favorite book is The Great Gatsby, but I'm no snob, I like newer stuff. I like Grisham, Patterson and I've even read Twilight. I think Seinfeld is the greatest show of the last 50 shows, but The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother are good too. For music there's a little bit of everything, Elvis, Michael, Patsy, Willie, Kanye, and even Miley."
I decided at that point that I would help him. I wasn't expecting to get so much out of him so suddenly. I didn't know if I would be help since I couldn't cook.
"So, everything that I said at the Grill is officially retracted." I stated. "So, is this for the garlic bread, because if you're not having any, neither am I?"
"I love garlic." He told me with a smile before I accidentally cut my finger. Fortunately, I hadn't cut it off.
"Fuck." I cursed as I covered it.
"Are you okay?" He asked before I went over to the sink to wash it off. I then noticed something in the mirror. His face looked really weird. Had his eyes just turned red?
"Are you okay?" I mimicked as I went over to him. He turned his back to me. "Stefan, look at me."
He turned to face me, and he looked normal. What was that? Had I just imagined that or did something weird just happen?
"I think I'm hallucinating." I told him.
The next day I arrived at the carwash to see Caroline wearing a frilly pink bikini top and shorts. Did she plan on taking the shorts off or something?
"Hey." Stefan greeted me.
"The event is called Sexy Suds for get sexy." She ordered before she walked off.
"She didn't say that we could wear shorts." I replied. It would have been nice information to know. "But it looks like you're going to have that off."
"So are you." Stefan agreed. I nervously began to strip off my dress to a green bikini. I wanted to cover up. However, I couldn't help but be a little distracted when he took his shirt off. Whoa. No. I was not attracted to guys, and I would not let Stefan's shirtless form make me think about how much I wanted…stop it. Stop thinking like a girl.
We began to work on scrubbing a car together. It seemed like we were the only sexy ones there because everyone else was wearing either shirts or shorts. Wasn't the point of a bikini carwash to wear bikinis? Not to mention, I couldn't help but feel like everyone was looking at my butt. I heard a few people make inappropriate comments from a distance. I tried to distract myself by looking at Stefan.
"Are you sure you should be wearing that?" I asked, referring to his ring.
"Yes, it's fine." He declared. "It's waterproof."
"I saw that Damon has one too. Is there a reason for that?" I inquired. There seemed to be a symbol on it that I had never noticed before, but maybe I was focusing on the ring to avoid looking at his bare chest.
"It's the family crest." He explained. "It's from the Renaissance."
"Okay, I need to go and get some towels." I announced. I wondered if I could wrap one around my waist. I was also starting to feel hot. I was pretty sure that my body was betraying me.
I walked over to Caroline at the cashbox. It seemed like she had the easy the job.
"So, we need some towels." I replied. "Also, I don't think the ShamWow is working."
"I'll go get some more." Caroline declared. "Watch the money."
After a little while, I was still at the cashbox. At least sitting down, I knew people couldn't stare at my butt, even if they could look at another part of my body that I didn't want them to look at. I couldn't help but wonder if Caroline got lost in the school. It was at that moment that the old man from the Grill walked up. I needed to talk to him to see if I could find out what he meant.
"Hey, I saw you yesterday at the Grill." I told him. "You were talking to my friend, saying that you knew him."
"I must have been mistaken. My eyes were playing tricks on me." He declared.
"Where did you think you saw him?" I questioned curiously. He seemed to know something.
"When I first moved here, I stayed at the Salvatore Boarding House, Stefan was just passing through before there was an accident with his uncle being killed." He answered.
"His uncle, Zach?" I questioned. What was he talking about?
"No, Joseph." The man corrected. Who was Joseph? Stefan didn't mention a Joseph.
"I'm sorry, but I don't understand." I stated.
"How could you? This happened in 1953." The man told me. 1953? Wait a minute. There was no way, was there? I needed to see if I could see this for myself.
At that moment, one of the other cheerleaders came to him. He was her grandpa. She also let me go from the cashbox and said that the man had Alzheimer's.
Still, I figured I should see if I could find anything about this incident that he was talking about. I mean there was no way that it was possible for Stefan to have been alive in 1953. I knew one person who might be able to help me out. I noticed that Jenna was over with him. He did seem to be focused on my face, but he probably figured that it wasn't a good idea to ogle me in front of my aunt.
"You know your car was finished a while ago." I told her. I then looked at her and Logan. "So, is he is enough of your good graces that I could ask him for a favor?"
"If I did her a favor, would I be in your good graces?" Logan then replied.
"Maybe to both." Jenna responded.
"Done." Logan agreed. "Wait, dinner at your place tonight. What do you need, Kid?"
"I was wondering if you had access to old news footage." I questioned. "I was interested in learning about some local history."
"I was about to head back to the station. I can give you a ride." He offered.
I grabbed my dress and put it back on before I headed to the news station. It was a good thing that I remembered it because I didn't want to be there in my bikini.
"So, what are you looking for?" Logan asked me after showing me how to use the database.
"It's an incident from the 50s at the Salvatore Boarding House." I explained. Suddenly he got a call involving a fire.
"I have to go, but if you have any trouble, Brady in tech can assist you." He told me before he left me alone. I couldn't believe that he was so trusting, there was some expensive equipment that I could easily mess up in the room.
I found this old video of the attack from the early days of television. It was an animal attack. I couldn't help but notice how unprofessional it looked, but then I saw him. It was clearly Stefan in the picture. His clothes and hair were different, but it was him.
Once I got home, I was freaking out. I began to piece some things together. I had twice seen Stefan's face change, both Vicki and Tanner had strange neck wounds and blood loss, Stefan pretty much healed in front of me and then there were the marks on Caroline's body. It seemed like there was only one explanation. I couldn't believe it, but it had to be. Even though I was freaking out, I was also excited. This was ever horror nerd's dream. I had found a real vampire.
I went over to his house. I headed to my bike and drove to the boarding house. I prepared to knock on the door, but before I could it opened. There was Stefan, with red eyes and a stake in his hand. I was pretty sure that I already knew the answer, but I needed to ask anyway.
"Are you a vampire?" I asked him.
So Mary found out that Stefan was a vampire finally, and she also found out that Elena is seeing Vicki. What's going to happen now? Please don't forget to review.
