Okay, I know it's been quite a while since the last update, but rest assured, this story is still alive. I'm just a little busy with other stories at the moment. But I think it's fair you guys deserve at least a chapter, so here you are! Let's see if we can continue this story, shall we? Anyway, enjoy!
Shaggy gave a sigh as he laid down on the side of the bed, looking a bit downward. It had been quite a while since everything had went down back at the Old Spanish Church, especially because he and Scooby had to sneak out to find out more about the Disc... but things really went down and crazy because of this... learning that the former mayor wasn't Fred's father, the fact that the gang had split up because of this... and worst of all, his parents wanting to send him to a military camp while Scooby got sent to a farm...
He was fortunate enough to convince his parents not to send him to military camp (mainly because he shown off his skills in the kitchen, which gave them another chance), but he was still working out on how to get Scooby back from the farm. Still, it wasn't an easy task, but he figured in time, his parents will be well convinced to get Scooby back... after all, he was his best friend, he'd never leave him behind.
Of course, his other friends... Daphne, Velma, Fred... all of them were going through a lot as well, and he wanted nothing more than to reunite with them and talk about what happened... although, from what he heard, Fred had already went off on his journey to find his parents (which he took to mean he probably left Crystal Cove around that time). This left Velma and Daphne back at their houses. He wanted nothing more than to talk to the two girls... although he was a little unsure about Velma... sure, they were on speaking terms now, but he was still thinking back to when they dated and how she became VERY pushy during their relationship. Still, it wasn't going to bother him any, seeing as how Velma DID finally understand just how unbreakable his and Scooby's bond was. Heck, even DAPHNE understood the unbreakable bond between man and dog...
Daphne... now that's a name he'd never forget in his lifetime. Sure, the two of them knew each other as kids, with Fred and Velma coming by later to unite in their new team, but even though Shaggy accepted Daphne as a great member of the team, something about her seemed to make her happy, even when the two of them were talking alone, it just felt more natural... maybe a little too natural...
He thought it strange. Nothing between the two had changed, the two of them were good friends, and even when Fred had upset her because he didn't seem to take the hint that she liked Fred, he was always there to comfort her... it felt weird, but it was like, the two of them had a different sort of... bond. A bond that... seemed to have a missing chain... a link. He put his hand over his heart, as if trying to feel for it...
It felt so strange, but... even when he was dating Velma, he always looked at her, feeling like... something just didn't feel quite right. Like... how DID that relationship with Velma even start anyway? Sure, she was smart, and sure, she had a pretty face... but she also had a certain... quirkiness to her, like... a negative sort. She always berated Shaggy for something she didn't see fit to HER liking... like the baggy pants, his use of the word 'like' in sentences, and was even strangely violent when she was rejected because he wasn't comfortable in going to prom... not like Daphne, who always liked him for who he was, how he dressed, how he spoke, and was even understanding. Although, maybe if it was a light push...
Shaggy groaned as he tried to shake his thoughts. He didn't understand just why he was thinking about Daphne so much lately... especially now, when he was trying to think of a way to save Scooby. He held his head, trying to gather his thoughts... but it wasn't quite as easy as it looked. Immediately, he tried to focus his mind on something else... anything... like... like... Vincent Van Ghoul's movies! Vincent was always a wonderful actor, and was kind enough to let Shaggy and Scooby in the manor when he won the contest... the Nightfright case... Daphne gobbling down food like Shaggy, which even HE was impressed by...
Shaggy yelped as he held his head, the thought of him, Daphne and Vincent Van Ghoul affecting his brain personally. It just kept pressing at his inner brain lobs, painfully. He couldn't understand why, though... he groaned as he got up, to try to get some water to wash his face, trying to get rid of the sleepiness that may be affecting his mind.
After soaking his face thoroughly (for about a good ten minutes), he walked back to his room, looking a little worse for wear...
"Hey, Shaggy."
...a little tired, but his mind still was hurting a lot.
"Hi, Daphne." Shaggy said to the girl looking in from the window as he tried to laid down in bed.
It took a few seconds, but Shaggy's eyes suddenly snapped open as he looked back towards the window. There was Daphne, standing in front of it as she gave a nervous wave. He squinted a bit, as if trying to make sense of it...
Somehow knowing what Shaggy was thinking, she quickly answered all the possible questions he was about to ask, "Yes, it's me. Yes, I'm real. No, you're not dreaming, you're clearly awake. And no, your parents don't know I'm here. Uh, do you mind if I come in? I don't know how much longer until the ladder gives out."
"O-oh!" Shaggy yelped as he unlocked the window and opened it up as Daphne climbed in carefully. "Like, I'm surprised you're up this late at night..."
"It's only 9:30 PM." Daphne pointed towards the alarm clock that was next to his bed.
Shaggy turned his eyes towards the clock as it changed to 9:31. "Oh... well... I guess I have been... thinking about a lot of things..."
"I'll say..." Daphne noted as she looked at the poor man's weary eyes. "It looks like you've been staying up nights."
Shaggy chuckled nervously as he crossed his arms. "Uh, never mind me, how about you? Are you... feeling okay?"
For the longest time, Daphne said nothing. Shaggy looked to her in concern as he was about to drop the conversation, but then, she spoke, "My parents aren't mad with YOU or Scooby, in case you're wondering. But... I've been holding myself together. I guess the fact that I was finally getting true happiness with Fred... only for that to be yanked away when Fred called off the engagement to look for his missing parents... and Mystery Incorporated being separated... it's been a headache."
Daphne scoffed in frustration as she stretched, unintentionally moving her body in a way that interested Shaggy... he held his head, trying to keep his eyes up to hers as she said, "I mean, I understand why Fred was upset, but the fact that he just... pushed us away to pursue this... pushed ME away... I worked so hard to finally get him to notice me, and then it all came crashing down! And just after I told my engagement to my parents too..."
Shaggy looked over at Daphne with sadness as he put his arms around the young woman, having a strange instinct that he knew she was going to cry. "Okay, so they didn't like the news, but they should have at least been proud... it was like... Fred didn't care at all... he never did, only for his traps and now this..."
"Oh, Daph, like, don't say that." Shaggy said. "I'm sure, like, Fred cares. His mind, well... just wasn't in the right state at that moment. I mean, like, he DID just learn that his father wasn't his real father, and his parents are out somewhere."
"Well..." Daphne frowned. "I wish I could have changed everything..."
"There was nothing we could have done..." Shaggy sighed. "I mean, things haven't been doing good for me, either. After all, Scooby still got sent to a farm somewhere..."
Daphne sniffled a bit as she looked up at Shaggy in sympathy. "I'm sorry, Shaggy... I guess what happened affected ALL of us..."
The lanky looking teen gave a light chuckle. "Like, if there was one bit of news I can take from it, my parents were convinced that my cooking skills were so good that... well, they decided to have me stay, and not send me to military camp, like they planned on doing... but I'm still going to have to look for a job. They did say if I did well, Scooby could come back..."
"Oh, Shaggy..." Daphne hugged him tighter, causing Shaggy to yelp a bit.
As the two of them were hugging each other, they didn't notice a strange blue glowing effect taking place around them. But they didn't care as Shaggy said, "At least your love life, is like, a little better than mine was..." Shaggy sighed. "What with me and Velma?"
"I never really understood what you saw in Velma... I mean, don't get me wrong, she's smart and has her moments, but whenever I saw you and her together, something in my mind told me that you just didn't click..." Daphne said as she looked up at Shaggy, her heart beating a little differently. She couldn't quite explain it, but something about Shaggy just seemed... different.
"Tell me about it! I mean, I like Velma fine, but I realize that we only had, like, two things in common... one, we're on the same team, and two, we help each other out when the other doesn't quite have the same clue..." Shaggy paused. "Tell me, Daph... have you had anything in common with Fred?"
"Well..." Daphne paused as she thought about it. "We're both popular... we both make good leaders when it comes down to it... we also..." Daphne bit her lip. "We also... well... what else do Fred and I have in common?"
Shaggy paused as he touched his hands with Daphne's. "I guess there's not a lot to go on when it comes to compatibility..."
"Hmmm..." Daphne paused. "I mean... I know WE have a lot in common, Shaggy... sure, we may be of different classes from our parents's point of view, but we also love having fun..."
"Like, yeah. And we both like food." Shaggy grinned.
Daphne laughed. "Not to the comical standards you do, but yeah, we both like food. We also like mysteries and traveling..."
"Only to a standard..." Shaggy pointed out. "But yeah, traveling is one thing we both love to do... why, I remember that trip we took to... to..."
Shaggy paused as he closed his eyes to try to remember. Daphne, snapping her fingers, knew this was a good time to bring it up. "Hawaii?"
"Like, I remember that's where we going two years ago, but... why can't I remember that trip?" Shaggy paused.
"That's actually why I came over, Shaggy..." Daphne said as she pulled out her mom's phone and picked up the photos. "Look through these photos for a minute and tell me if you have any idea what's happening..."
Shaggy raised an eyebrow in confusion as he took the phone from Daphne's hand and started to cruise through the pictures, as he looked curious. "Oh hey, that's Scooby and there's Scrappy with him. I remember because Scrappy was with us that summer... hm? Isn't that that Flim-Flam kid we met last year? That strange kid that... that..." He paused in confusion before looking over the rest of the pictures. "The Himalayas? America? A cruise ship? What is-" It was then Shaggy finally stopped at the next picture (the one with Daphne and Shaggy in their swim wear and staring at each other happily). Shaggy's eyes widened as he asked, "What is going on? I... don't remember those pictures at all."
"I don't either, but Mom seemed to held onto them. Said our week-trip to Hawaii lasted... almost the summer." Daphne said. "And in those pictures, it looked like we were close."
"Close? Like... close-close?" Shaggy asked.
Daphne nodded as she gave a sigh. "I just don't get what's going on... and I guess you don't either..."
"No, Daph, like... I don't..." Shaggy scratched his head. "Guess that's a big mystery..."
"But... talking with you now... about compatible others... do you think... we'd be... compatible?" Daphne asked.
"Like... I don't know, Daphne. How will we know for sure?" Shaggy asked.
Daphne shut her eyes a bit, trying to think... before taking a deep breath. "Shaggy... close your eyes..."
"Huh? Well... okay, but-" Shaggy closed his eyes as Daphne lifted her head up to his. "-I don't see how this he-"
Shaggy's eyes widened opened right as Daphne's lips had touched his... and the strange blue glow around them began to shine as Daphne deepen the kiss. Shaggy was about to yelp in surprise, but something started to come over him as he held Daphne close and deepened the kiss... hard...
However, as they kissed, the blue glow shined even brighter as in their minds... more and more memories started to soar through their minds... and... all of a sudden...
BOOM!
Both Shaggy and Daphne were sent towards opposite sides of the room, banging on the walls as both of them were groaning, holding their heads... before Shaggy gasped.
"Daphne?" Shaggy asked. "Do- do you remember?"
"Y-yes! Yes, I do! That's right!" Daphne gasped. "We WERE on our way to Hawaii, but the plane suddenly started going down as we were over the Himalayas..."
"And- and..." Shaggy stammered... before his eyes widened as he looked under his bed. He bent down and started to shuffle around, before pulling out a box. He opened the box, and started to shuffle around, before pulling out a strange crystal ball. "Like, I thought so! Man, I'm glad I still have it!"
"Oh, Shaggy... my smart man!" Daphne giggled as she ran close. "Do you think he'll answer?"
"He'll have to... he OWES us an explanation after all!" Shaggy said as he rubbed the crystal ball.
All of a sudden, the crystal ball started to float up in the air as something started to appear from it. The familiar face of a mustached man with a small grin on his face.
"This better be good, I was in the middle of a film shoo-" The familiar voice of Vincent Van Ghoul came ringing as he looked out to see the familiar faces of Shaggy and Daphne. He looked surprised at first, before giving a smile. "Oh, so you two finally kissed, have you? Finally got your memories of everything back, huh?"
"Vincent, what's going on?" Daphne asked. "What about the others, are they all right?"
"I assume that by the time you two kiss, memories will be returning to Flim-Flam, Scooby and Scrappy as well... but hang tight. I'll be with you momentarily... in person." Vincent said. "I assume you're at your home?"
"Uh, yeah, but... there's still the matter of... my parents..." Shaggy chuckled nervously.
"Fret not, they'll be well taken care of. I'll be right over soon with the details..." Vincent said as he hung up the ball.
Both Shaggy and Daphne blinked twice as they turned to each other as Daphne said, "Sweetie? What's happening right now?"
"I have no idea, Gingerbread." Shaggy sighed. "I only know that... we're about to be in for a ride of a lifetime..."
Both Shaggy and Daphne looked at each other as they held hands, before looking at each other in concern... Daphne planting a quick kiss on Shaggy's cheek to calm him down... as if she had been romantic with Shaggy for years...
And that's the third chapter out of the way! How did you guys like it? I know there's some likely confusion, but don't worry, next chapter will be Vincent helping Shaggy and Daphne filling in the gaps as to what is going on! Also... we'll be seeing some familiar faces from 'The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo' making their appearances, so keep your eyes peeled! Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, everyone!
