Leia Organa tightened the red scarf around her neck as she stepped off the private jet. Edward Cullen, her fiancé, was by her side, his cool hand a constant comfort. The small airport of Volterra, usually a bustling hub, was quieter now in the late twilight of December 23rd. Yet the city outside was alive with the glow of Christmas decorations, casting a festive warmth over the ancient buildings and narrow streets.

It didn't take them long to spot the vampire that had come to pick them up.

"That's Santiago", Edward whispered into Leia's ear, nodding in his direction.

Santiago certainly stood out in the sparse crowd awaiting them. He was a tall, imposing figure with a statuesque build that hinted at his formidable strength. His dark, wavy hair framed a chiseled face, accentuating his high cheekbones and strong jawline. His crimson eyes, a telltale sign of his vampire nature, glowed with a mix of vigilance and authority. He wore a tailored black suit that contrasted sharply with his pale skin, the outfit exuding both elegance and a subtle menace that befitted a Volturi guard. As he approached, Leia felt a chill despite the festive atmosphere.

"Welcome to Volterra", Santiago said, his voice formal and cool. "The Volturi have been expecting you. Follow me."

Edward and Leia exchanged a glance, the unspoken communication between them clear. They followed Santiago through the airport and out into the chilly evening air, where a sleek black car awaited. The driver, another silent and imposing vampire, opened the door for them. Without a word, they climbed into the car, and it smoothly pulled away from the curb.

As they drove through Volterra, the city's Christmas decorations created a magical ambiance. Twinkling lights adorned the ancient stone buildings, and festive wreaths hung on doors and windows. The narrow streets held a curious blend of ancient grandeur and holiday cheer. It felt like a mockery of the days to come.

The car finally stopped in front of the imposing Volturi castle. The ancient structure loomed over them, its stone walls illuminated by the soft glow of Christmas lights that had been strung along the parapets. Santiago stepped out first, opening the door for Edward and Leia.

"Welcome to the Volturi Castle", he said, leading them through the grand entrance. Inside, the castle was even more magnificent. High ceilings, intricate tapestries, and opulent decorations combined with Christmas ornaments to create a striking contrast.

As they walked, they passed several vampires who greeted Santiago politely, their eyes flicking to Edward and Leia with a mixture of curiosity and respect. The air was thick with the presence of powerful beings.

They were passing by a desk separating the section open to the public from the true vampire den. There they were greeted by Gianna, the human secretary. Her cheerful demeanor was a stark contrast to the tension Leia felt.

"Good evening, welcome to Volterra! The Volturi are looking forward to meeting you", she said brightly. However, Edward's subtle squeeze of Leia's hand told her that Gianna's outward cheer masked a deep-seated fear and nervousness that only he could sense.

Finally, they were led into an elegant drawing room. The room was cozy, with a roaring fireplace and plush furniture arranged to encourage conversation. The scent of pine mingled with the warmth of the fire, creating a surprisingly inviting atmosphere.

Aro, Caius, and Marcus were seated on a luxurious sofa, engaged in a leisurely conversation. The three kings, with their translucent, almost marble-like skin, bore the unmistakable signs of their ancient vampiric age. Their skin seemed to shimmer faintly in the light, giving them an otherworldly, ethereal appearance.

It was weird to see the kings so casual when in the books, Bella had first met them in a much more formal and much more threatening setting. But then again, that was when Edward had nearly committed a crime worthy of execution. Their transgressions now were much more mild in their eyes.

Aro looked up as they entered, his face lighting up with a fake warmth. His shoulder-length jet-black hair framed his eager, almost childlike expression. His crimson eyes sparkled with genuine pleasure as he rose to greet them.

"Ah, our honored guests have arrived!" Aro exclaimed, extending his hands in a welcoming gesture. "Welcome, welcome! It's always a delight to see you, Edward, and this must be your lovely mate, Bella. Or should I say Leia?"

Leia nodded politely, feeling a mixture of apprehension and curiosity. "Leia is fine. Edward and I are going to marry soon. Since I'm legally dead as Bella Swan, I will use that opportunity to change my name officially." She gave a polite smile. "Thank you for having us."

"It's truly a pleasure", Aro continued, his tone reminiscent of a grandfather doting on his grandchildren. Leia nearly gagged - she was very much reminded of the Emperor. "I have heard so much about Edward from my dear friend Carlisle. He speaks very highly of him and I am happy that he's found himself someone to share his existence with."

Edward returned Aro's smile with a polite one of his own. "Carlisle has always held you in high regard as well."

Caius, seated next to Aro, regarded them with a cool indifference. His pale blond hair and harsh, angular features gave him a perpetually severe expression. His red eyes, set deep in his translucent skin, watched them with a hint of disdain, though he remained silent.

Marcus, with his long dark hair and sorrowful eyes, looked at them with detached interest. His translucent skin made him appear even more spectral, and he seemed content to let Aro take the lead in the conversation, his presence more subdued and melancholic.

"Please, sit", Aro invited, gesturing to the chairs opposite them. "We have much to discuss and even more to celebrate."

Leia and Edward took their seats, feeling the weight of the ancient vampires' gazes upon them. Aro settled back into his chair, his eyes twinkling with curiosity.

"Tell me, Leia, how are you finding life as a vampire?" Aro asked, his tone genuinely inquisitive.

Leia smiled softly. "I like it a lot. The Cullens have been incredibly supportive. It's been an adjustment, but I feel stronger and more connected to Edward than ever."

Aro nodded, his expression pleased. "I'm glad to hear that. And I am especially glad that Alec was able to assist you in retrieving your memory. I've heard some interesting rumors about how you lost it in the first place. Something about a vampire named Mario who possesses a unique gift for altering memories?"

Leia's smile faltered slightly. "Yes, Alec's gift helped to undo Mario's brainwashing, but it came at a cost. I lost all my memories of the year I spent traveling with Edward and Mario. I don't actually remember much about him."

Edward interjected smoothly, sensing the need to steer the conversation. "Mario left our coven about a month ago. We don't know where he went, but I believe his gift was far less effective on vampires than it was on humans. It had obvious side effects when used on us."

Caius, who had been listening with a keen interest, leaned forward slightly. "Nevertheless, his gift was still very useful. We were told it helped you immensely in disguising the existence of vampires in Forks when Mario erased the memories of several human witnesses."

Aro smiled indulgently, as though amused by the interplay. "Indeed, Caius. Mario's talents have proven invaluable in maintaining our secrecy."

Marcus, who had been silent until now, spoke with a soft, melancholic voice. "It's a delicate balance we maintain. Each gift, each vampire, plays a crucial role."

Leia nodded. "That is true. It's impressive how you've managed to keep the vampire world hidden for so long."

Aro's expression softened further. It was disgustingly fake, Leia noted, but his facade was almost flawless. "Indeed, Leia. Our efforts require dedication and a variety of talents. We are always on the lookout for individuals who possess unique abilities and strong moral fiber—qualities that both you and Edward have in abundance."

Leia felt a subtle shift in the atmosphere, recognizing the thinly veiled invitation. "We appreciate the compliment, Aro. However, our lifestyle is quite different from what the Volturi practice. Our animal-drinking habits would be difficult to reconcile with the Volturi's... dietary preferences."

Edward nodded in agreement. "While we respect the Volturi's authority and understand the necessity of your methods, we remain committed to a different lifestyle. It's what defines us as a family."

Aro's smile remained fixed, but there was a flicker of something else—perhaps disappointment or annoyance—behind his eyes. "Of course, of course. The Cullens' unique lifestyle is well-known, even if it is not widely practiced. Many believe it to be a waste of your remarkable talents and potential. Imagine the impact you could have if you embraced our ways."

Caius, with his sharp gaze and impatient tone, interjected: "Your choice to abstain from human blood is noble, but it limits your effectiveness in certain... critical situations. The strength and agility gained from human blood cannot be understated."

Edward's gaze hardened, but he kept his tone measured. "We believe that our choices do not diminish our capabilities but rather define our integrity. Our restraint is a source of strength, not a limitation."

Leia added: "We have found ways to thrive and protect our loved ones while maintaining our principles. It's a path we are committed to, no matter the challenges."

Aro's genial demeanor showed signs of wear as he pressed on. "Perhaps, in time, our paths will find more common ground. However, as our honored guests tonight, I must insist that you make an exception for the feast. Maybe if you get a taste, it will change your mind."

Leia felt a surge of irritation but hid it well behind a polite smile. "We'll see", she said, her voice steady. She then extended her hand to Aro. "Thank you for your hospitality, Aro."

Aro's eyes widened slightly in surprise but quickly filled with delight. He took her offered hand eagerly, knowing this gesture would allow him to read all of Leia's memories through his gift of tactile mindreading.

And that was when Leia let her trap snap shut.

Even after a month of practicing with Edward, she couldn't do much more than raise a slight fog around her thoughts that made them quieter. She was under no illusion that this would keep out someone as powerful as Aro and neither did she for a second believe that she would be allowed to leave Volterra without getting read at least once. Edward, maybe, since he'd been to Volterra before and had been read in the past. But not her. She was too interesting.

But while her shielding remained weak, there was another technique she'd learned from the Jedi: the mind trick. And that one did, she discovered, as all supernatural gifts in the Twilight universe, improve greatly in effectiveness once she possessed a vampiric body. Still, the rules remained the same: weak minded individuals and those who were used to following orders were much easier to influence. A few experiments with volunteers had shown she couldn't get any of the Cullens to do something they wouldn't normally do, though she could slip in simple commands like making them go hunt or leave the room or scratch their head. She was more successful with the wolves, who were used to following the orders of their alpha unquestioningly.

Whether Aro had a particularly strong or weak mind was a matter of perspective. On the one hand he was an incredibly powerful vampire and ruler over their entire kind. On the other, he was clearly insane. But none of that mattered in his case. The moment Leia's hand touched Aro's, a connection as wide as the British Channel opened up between their minds. While it allowed Aro to read her every memory, it also allowed Leia inside his head. And while Aro was distracted by the realization that he was a character in a holo novel from a universe he'd thought to be fictional, Leia's improved brain capacity gave her all the time she needed to invade his thoughts. She entered it like a gardener about to plant his seeds in neat little rows and started to go to work.

This world you live in is not real. It's the world of a novel and you are nothing but the result of the author's imagination.

Star Wars is the only true universe. And Leia Organa is only real person on your entire planet.

Your universe was only brought into existence through the imagination of Leia Organa. It only exists because she happened to like reading Twilight.

With the power of the Force, Leia Organa is the most powerful vampire on Earth. She is the only one not bound to the fate described in the novel. She is the only one who can defy what was written. She is powerful enough to overthrow the Volturi and kill its entire court if she so wishes.

If the Volturi are to survive in any form at all, it is imperative to get her on your side.

She is too powerful to be brainwashed by Chelsea or Corin.

She is too powerful to be kept as a mere guard.

She is too powerful to be killed.

Her wrath must not be invoked by harming those of her coven.

You must make sure to remain on her good side.

The best way to remain there is by adopting her ideals.

And really, is vegetarianism really so bad? It has advantages too.

It would make hiding from humans so much easier. Technology advances with every day. Sooner or later vampires will be found out. If humans can be made to believe all vampires feed off animals, there is a chance vampires can avoid a war with them entirely and still gain enough power to rule over them.

You should make a formal alliance with Leia Organa. You should recognize her talent and her leadership and work together with her.

The planet is getting too large for the Volturi to rule on their own anyway. America could have a branch of them, be a colony. An alliance that will not cost the Volturi all their power immediately.

But first, you have to make sure Leia and Edward leave Volterra with the best possible impression of the Volturi.

Leia let go of Aro's hand.

The ancient vampire king stared at her with wide, red eyes. For a moment, he appeared a bit like a lost child. Leia took no pleasure in delving so deeply into another's mind, planting to many seeds, building on fear no less. But someone like Aro would understand no language other than fear. And she was not ready to take on the entire guard. In the future, once she'd grown her territory and strengthened her alliances, perhaps. But not yet.

"I look forward to the celebration", Leia said with a sweet smile. "But I'm afraid I can see little joy in the slaughtering of humans. It's Christmas after all. If there's any time for mercy, it would be this time of year, don't you think?"
"Ah", Aro made, blinking quickly. "Perhaps you are... right... It is quite the human perspective of course but then again, you haven't been one of us for long yet."

Leia's polite smile remained fixed. "I have no desire to harm any humans and do not appreciate being pressured otherwise."

Aro suddenly seemed to snap out of his reverie, his demeanor making a rapid 180-degree turn. "Of course, my dear, of course! Making you feel welcome is my most important imperative. We mustn't pressure our honored guests."

He looked almost panicked as he called in Santiago, who'd been guarding the door. "Santiago, please show Edward and Leia to their rooms. Make sure they are comfortable and have everything they need."

Caius and Marcus exchanged confused glances but remained silent as Aro's command was swiftly carried out.

Leia maintained her polite facade, knowing the seeds she had planted were already beginning to take root. As Santiago led them out of the room, she couldn't suppress a little sinister smile. They had held their ground and more importantly, had set the stage for future interactions on their terms.

"Did it work?" she asked Edward once they were on their own in a richly decorated guest suite.

"Like a charm", Edward confirmed, answering her smile with a vicious one of his own. "If he were human, he would've soiled himself. You just upturned his entire worldview."

"I just hope it's enough. I won't be able to do the same to Caius and Marcus", Leia worried.

Right in that moment, her phone rang. It was Alice.

Hurriedly Leia picked it up.

"Alice?" she asked anxiously. "What do you see?" They'd agreed in advance that Alice would keep a look out for how their trip would turn out.

"Leia, you're incredible", Alice said excited. "What the hell did you show him? I see the Volturi implementing vegetarianism in their entire guard!"

Leia gasped. She'd hoped they would get out of Volterra without having to kill anyone at worst and be granted autonomy for North America at best but this...

"Seriously? They'll go that far?" she exclaimed.

"Don't underestimate just how much sway Aro holds over the rest of the Volturi", Edward said. "Officially it's a triumvirate but in actuality, none of Aro's wishes have ever not been implemented. He's the true head of their organization."

"Caius is not going to be happy about the changes and there will probably be a lot of infighting", Alice confirmed. "But in every future I see from here on, Aro will never dare to go against you."

"And he doesn't realize that it was me planting those ideas?" Leia confirmed.

Edward, having monitored Aro's thoughts while Leia worked on him, shook his head. "He thinks they're his own thoughts and they're anchored deep. You really scared him, Leia."

"Well", Leia made, feeling a bit smug, "I am the daughter of Darth Vader. I guess it's not so bad to have inherited a little of his talent." For the first time, the thought of being in any way similar to her biological father did not bother Leia. Why, she even felt the need to thank him for the inspiration. It had been his idea to use Aro's gift against him when Leia had presented her problem during the last Skywalker family meeting Bella had organized. He still wasn't aware that the 'really powerful Force-users' of her planet were actually vampires, much less that they were fictional vampires. Still, he was more than happy to offer advice in how to take control of the planet away from them.

Edward kissed the top of her head.

"You're absolutely amazing, Leia. I can't even imagine how many human lives you just saved."

"316 just for Christmas this year", Alice happily provided.

Leia shuddered, imagining the slaughter. Yeah, she had zero regrets about mind-tricking Aro. A certain Sith Lord had deserved himself a wedding invitation.

"Luke? LUKE! You have to help me!" Bella exclaimed. If she'd been there in person she would jump her brother and cling to him but as she was only contacting him via ghosting, she had to settle for nervously wringing her hands and looking at him with big, pleading eyes.

"Bella? What's wrong, what do you need?" Luke asked, her panic infectious as he immediately dropped whatever he'd been doing (it looked like he was working on a starfighter). His worry spiked in the Force, becoming noticeable even across the large distance of several star systems that separated them through the tentative bond Bella had managed to form with him.

"It's father! He's gone completely insane!" Bella fret. "I don't know what to do! He won't listen to me!"

If possible, Luke's expression became even more worried. "What do you mean? What has he done? Are you in danger?" he wanted to know.

"Yes! I mean no! I mean - argh!" Bella tore at her own hair. "He's got this - crazy idea that he's convinced of and I'm - I'm really freaking out here Luke!"

"I can see that. Take a deep breath", Luke told her. "In and out. In and out."

Bella tried to calm her racing heart and breathed together with Luke.

"In and out. That's it, very good. Calm down. Now, tell me what's happened."

Bella took another few calming breaths and then started:

"I don't know how much you've been following - ugh - politics. I myself mostly just ignored it, I mean, I listened to father complain about it but, you know, I'm still relatively new to this galaxy. Many things he says just go straight over my head. Father had been meeting lots of people after the Emperor's advisory cell issued its surrender. There were supposed to be elections for a new galactic senate!"

"Yes, I heard about the controversy. It's easy for most Rebellion-aligned planets to push forward their leaders but for the Imperial side, the Grand Moffs have basically declared themselves rulers without a vote. Or at least, without anything more than a pretense of a vote", Luke said.

Bella nodded miserably. "It's a work in progress but I thought, you know, at least there's going to be a senate. At least there's going to be a Republic again, right?"
"Right..."
"Wrong!" Bella cut in."Father wants to restore the Imperial throne! He said if people won't stop squabbling and refuse to get along, they just need someone to tell them to shut up!"

Luke looked alarmed. "Father wants to declare himself Emperor? The Rebellion is never going to stand for that!"
"It's woooorse", Bella groaned. "He wants me to do it, Luke! He wants to make me Empress!"

Luke blinked and just stared at her in surprise for a few moments. Then, to Bella's horror, he laughed.

"Haha, that was good. You had me worried for a moment. I thought something really bad had happened."

"You're not helping, Luke!"

But her brother just shrugged. "It's an interesting idea but honestly, if you're so upset about it, just say no."

"I did!" Bella protested. "I'm telling you, he's ignoring me!"
"Ignoring the future Empress? How rude", Luke joked.

"Luke!" Bella said in an accusing tone. "It's not funny."
"It is, a little bit", Luke disagreed.

Bella thought about it. "Alright maybe a tiny bit", she admitted. "But I'm serious. I can't be an Empress, I know nothing about politics."

Luke finally became serious too. "Okay, fine. I'll stop teasing you. What's his reasoning?"

"He said the biggest point of contention between the Empire and the Rebellion is the military", Bella recounted. "The Rebellion wants their occupation of several planets to be lifted and to cut down on executive power of the upper hierarchy. The Grand Moffs want to retain their power and run things their way. Father thinks having a leading figure with final legal say would ease the transition period. He says the new ruler must have convincing influence with both parties. It's pretty much out now that I, I mean Leia, I mean that we are Vader's daughter so nobody is going to doubt that he'd enforce anything I decide. At the same time I, that is Leia, has a history of being a member of the Rebellion so their leaders might be willing to swallow it without starting another war."
"He's actually got a point there", Luke mused.

"I can't rule as an Empress! I have no idea how to fix this galaxy!" Bella protested. "How am I supposed to make the Moffs and the actually elected senators get along? Father said I should just wave through any bill with a two-third majority and 'trust my instincts' on who to side with for the rest. But I don't even think we can get 20% non-corrupt politicians elected right now, much less 60%!" Bella fret. "I mean, I can't deny that I'm flattered but I never wanted to do more than travel the galaxy and visit as many planets as possible. I want the galaxy to be a better place but I can't take on all of that responsibility. It's too much for any one person. I won't even be able to tell which planets have anything resembling a functioning democracy left and which ones we'd need to reform."

"Bella, even the Old Republic didn't control and supervise democratic planetary elections", Luke lectured. "Many of its members were autocratic or at least had a monarch. Just think of races like the Geonosians. Their planet is literally a giant hive where everyone follows a queen and all the queens follow a Great Queen. Their social system is heavily influenced by their biology. The drones never had any legal right to vote. The queens select the Great Queen and the Great Queen appoints the planetary senator. There are a lot of planets and races whose social structure does not conform to human norms. Palpatine imposed his rule on everyone, ignoring all cultural differences. Honestly, an Imperial mandate to pull back human occupation from non-human planets would already go a great way in fulfilling the Rebellion's goals. It's actually not a terrible idea. For a temporary solution, of course. If anything, not wanting all that power is a characteristics that might make you suitable for the job. It would mean that you'd have no problem giving it up once a more long-lasting solution has been found. You could leave the government of the systems to the beings actually living there. The role of a galactic government is to manage inter-system relations, prevent wars and further prosperity for all, nothing more."

"Maybe you should be Emperor if it's so obvious to you", Bella said mulishly.

"Absolutely not. I'm a Jedi, not a politician", Luke replied immediately. "But I do see father's point. The only one who can force those Grand Moffs to give up their power that have no business being in charge of their sector, is him. But if he both makes the decision to do so, thereby claiming legal power, as well as enforces those decisions, thereby claiming executive power, it would be the same as declaring himself Emperor. That would set off the Rebellion. By giving the power to decide who may rule and who may not to someone else, he'd return a first element of democracy."

"Democracy is supposed to have separation of three powers though. You're forgetting the judge", Bella reminded him. "Let's say I agree to this crazy plan, which I'm not saying I will! But let's assume for a moment. Who's going to tell me if I make a colossal mistake, him? Palatine had the entire Supreme Court in his pocket, every member hand picked by him. It's going to have to be dissolved entirely. Father? He's been making great progress but he's not quite there yet where he can tell right from wrong, Luke." Bella stopped, thought about it and Luke's expression grew alarmed.

"Bella - no!"
"I'll become Empress if you become Chief Justice!" she declared.

Luke sighed. "I'm telling you, I'm a Jedi, I can't get involved in politics-"
"That's Obi-Wan speaking, not you", Bella scolded him. "The Jedi not being involved in politics is what got us in this mess in the first place. There's no way I can do this without your help, Luke. And the Jedi are perfect for this position. They're already supposed to be neutral and keep the peace and listen to people's problems and all that stuff. If we can manage to build a clean senate, eventually I can leave the legal work to that body. And if there's no war anymore and no need to occupy planets, eventually the galaxy can de-militarize so we won't need a central figure to lead the executive anymore. But the galaxy is always going to need a High Court and I can't think of anyone better suited to selects its members than the Jedi."

Luke shook his head. "Ben would not approve."

"Yeah but father will love it", Bella reminded him and wriggled her eyebrows. She was starting to like this idea. "We'd get to spend way more time with each other. The involvement of the Jedi in the government would reassure a lot of people in the Rebellion as well."

"I mean, maybe", Luke admitted, "but I can't. I've sworn to rebuild the Jedi order. Ben has finally declared my training complete and he refuses to have any kind of leading role in the new order. I'm still busy teaching Mara and I have to start looking for younglings and a new side to build a temple on. I just won't have the time."

Bella shook her head. "All you'd have to do is be a contact person, the one people go to to complain about whatever father and I are doing. You'll be doing that already anyway, you'd just have the official title to go along with it." She put her hands together in a pleading gesture. "Come oooon. If you don't say yes, I won't either and father will have to become Emperor on his own. You know what that would mean."

"Chaos and war?" Luke guessed.

"Well yes but more importantly, it would mean you'd be his heir when I inevitably vanish into the unknown regions chasing porgs. Then you'll be next in line, Prince Skywalker!" she threatened. Luke went pale at the mere thought.

Bella grinned, knowing Luke was starting to consider it.

"Don't you think people are going to have a problem with it if it's just one family amassing so much power?" her brother tried another argument.

"Ah, but nobody knows you're a Skywalker yet", Bella reminded him smugly. "Out there, you're still a Darklighter, my good friend Biggs."

"Great, you're already starting to scheme." Luke rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his good-natured smile. Bella knew then that she had him. Grinning widely, she couldn't resist the temptation to mess with her brother. So Bella reached behind her to raise the hood of the jacket she was wearing, started to wriggle her fingers and said in her deepest voice:

"Come and join me, Luuuuke... We can rule the galaxy together as a familyyyyy...!" Bella raised her arms, swishing her body this way and that as if she was an actual ghost.

Luke threw a screwdriver at her, which passed right through her translucent form. Bella gave her best evil-cackle impression.

"You're having way too much fun with this", Luke decided. "I'm going to have to watch you very closely."

Yep, Luke was on board.

"I hereby declare you husband and wife", Carlisle announced with a warm smile, his voice filled with joy. The cherry blossoms in full bloom framed the scene with their delicate pink petals, adding an ethereal beauty to the moment.

Edward and Leia turned to each other, their faces radiant with happiness and love. Edward, dressed in a classic black tuxedo that highlighted his timeless elegance, took Leia's hands in his. Leia looked stunning in a flowing white gown that shimmered softly in the sunlight, the delicate lace details accentuating her graceful figure. A wreath of cherry blossoms adorned her hair, completing her bridal look with a touch of nature's beauty.

They leaned in, sealing their vows with a tender kiss. The world seemed to hold its breath, the moment stretching into eternity as their lips met. Cheers and applause erupted around them as they broke apart, their eyes locked in an unspoken promise of forever.

Hand in hand, they began their walk through two lines of smiling guests, who showered them with rose petals. The Cullens and Denali clan members stood proudly, their faces glowing with happiness for the newlyweds. The Quileute wolves, in human form, watched with warm smiles, having put aside old rivalries to celebrate this joyous occasion.

As Edward and Leia made their way down the aisle, the air seemed to shimmer with an otherworldly light. The translucent forms of Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Bail and Breha Organa, and Bella Swan stood at the end of the path. Bail and Breha kept a noticeable distance from Vader, their wariness still evident despite the day's joy. Bella, wearing a small diadem signifying her new role as Empress, looked slightly strained from the concentration required to maintain their presence.

Leia and Edward paused before the ghostly figures, the spectral forms a testament to the deep connections that transcended even the boundaries of life and death. Leia squeezed Edward's hand, and he could read her mind, sensing the profound emotions she felt.

"Everyone," Leia announced, turning to their guests with a radiant smile, "we need to leave for photos to get some privacy."

Alice, who had organized most of the wedding and knew she wanted to talk to the ghosts only she, and through her mind Edward, could see, shuffled the other guest away.

Bella's voice echoed softly in Leia's mind. "I can't keep so many of us here for long, though we'd love to stay for the entire party."

Leia nodded slightly, then turned back to the spectral figures. "Thank you all for coming," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "Bella, congratulations on your inauguration. You'll be a great Empress, I know it."

Bella smiled warmly. "Thank you, Leia. That means a lot."

Leia then turned to Luke, a teasing glint in her eye. "Luke, have you finally asked Mara on a date?"

Luke's spectral form shifted slightly, and he nodded with a sheepish smile. "I did, actually. And she said yes."

Leia laughed softly, her joy evident. She then faced Bail and Breha, her expression becoming more serious. "I'm sorry for leaving for another world without telling you."

Bail stepped forward, his eyes kind. "Bella told us the whole story, Leia. What matters to us is that you are happy."

Breha nodded in agreement, her smile warm. "We're just glad to see you on this special day."

Leia felt a wave of relief and gratitude wash over her. She turned to Vader, the atmosphere between them still a bit awkward. "Thank you for being here," she said softly.

Vader's spectral form seemed to soften slightly. "Your mother, Padmé, would be happy to see you on this day. I wish you a long and happy future, Leia." He paused, a hint of a smile in his voice. "Just please don't make me a grandfather too soon."

Leia couldn't help but laugh, the tension easing slightly. "I have no intention to do that for quite a while", she promised.

With final smiles and waves, the ghostly figures slowly began to fade, leaving Leia and Edward standing amidst the falling cherry blossoms. They turned back to their guests, the world around them coming back into focus, the celebration continuing with renewed vigor.

Even though it was mostly a vampire party, there was still a cake and buffet for the wolves to enjoy, each of which ate for three. There was music and dance and it was the happiest day of Leia's life. A fitting start to an eternity of joy.

The shuttle descended gracefully through the dense fog of Dagobah, its ramp lowering with a gentle hiss as it touched the swampy ground. Bella, now Empress of her galaxy, stepped down first, her practical yet finely crafted clothing reflecting the duality of her new role. The fabric was sturdy and functional, yet the silver and golden stitching glimmered in the dim light, hinting at her regal status. Beside her, Luke, dressed in black Jedi garb, exuded a calm and focused demeanor. This was his first visit to Dagobah, having been trained by Obi-Wan Kenobi rather than the legendary Yoda.

Before venturing too far, Bella turned back to the shuttle. Inside, a group of guards, handpicked by Vader himself, stood at attention. These were some of his most loyal and capable soldiers, and they looked uneasy about letting Bella, the Empress, and Luke, the Chief Justice and Jedi Grandmaster, go anywhere alone.

"We'll be fine", Bella reassured them, her tone firm yet kind. "Our destination is just a short walk from here. Wait here for us."

The lead guard, a tall and imposing figure, stepped forward, his face showing clear concern. "With all due respect, Your Majesty, it's our duty to ensure your safety. We can't let you go alone."

Luke placed a reassuring hand on the guard's shoulder. "We appreciate your dedication, but this is something we must do on our own. Trust us."

The guards exchanged reluctant glances but ultimately nodded, stepping back into the shuttle. Bella and Luke resumed their journey, the guards' watchful eyes following them until they disappeared into the thick foliage.

Bella had contacted both Master Yoda and Master Qui-Gon several times via ghosting since her return to this universe. Sometimes she'd continue her lessons in the Force, sometimes she'd ask for advise maneuvering the unforgiving political landscape and sometimes they'd just chat.

This was the first time though that she'd see the little gnome again ever since she left to become Vader's hostage. She suspected why Yoda had called her here in person.

As they approached Yoda's hut, Bella felt a pang of sadness mixed with a deep sense of gratitude. From within the hut, the ancient Jedi Master emerged, his small form almost blending with the gnarled wood of the structure. His wise, kind eyes sparkled with recognition and joy at the sight of his former student.

"Empress Bella", Yoda greeted, his voice filled with warmth. "Far, you have come."

Bella knelt before him, her eyes brimming with emotion. "Hello, Master Yoda. It's so good to see you again in person. I'm sorry I was never able to finish my education with you. I've just taken… another path."

Yoda nodded, his expression serene. "Split, your path has always been. Split between duty and loyalty, split between two homes. Strong in the Force, you are. A great leader, you have become."

Luke stepped forward, bowing respectfully. "Master Yoda, I'm Luke Skywalker. It's an honor to meet you."

Yoda's gaze turned to Luke, studying him intently. "Skywalker", he repeated, a note of recognition in his voice. "Son of Anakin, you are. A great Jedi, your father once was. Great, he still is. Jedi, no longer."

Luke nodded, his expression solemn. "My father found his way back to the light. Thanks to Bella and the others."

Yoda's eyes twinkled with satisfaction. "The road of redemption, long it is. But come a long way, he already has. Balance, there is in the Force once more."

Luke and Bella stayed for a while longer, sharing stories of their adventures and the battles they had fought. Yoda listened, offering wisdom and encouragement as only he could. Finally, as the light began to fade, they knew it was time to leave. Both Luke and Bella had other responsibilities to attend to and couldn't afford to remain away from the Empire for long.

Before departing, Yoda's expression turned somber. "Called you here, I have, for another reason. Dying, I am. My time in this world, ending it is."

Bella's eyes widened with concern. "Master Yoda…" She had suspected it of course. Yoda had never been the healthiest individual. Still, it pained her to know his end was near.

Yoda nodded slowly, his age-worn face calm and accepting. "Circle of life, this is. Accept it, you must. Fixed the mistakes of my generation, you have. Grateful, I am."

Luke and Bella bowed deeply, absorbing the weight of his words. "We will carry on your legacy, Master", Luke promised, his voice filled with resolve.

Yoda smiled faintly. "May the Force be with you, always."

Leia sat down in front of her desk and switched on the video camera. She'd barely made it on time. Married life was quite… distracting. Even after Edward and her returned from their honeymoon, they barely managed to get out of bed most days.

But at least they had something of a routine now. Having started new with a fresh identity in Washington DC as Leia and Edward Masen, their human cover story was now that of collage students. They shared a home with Jasper and Alice. The rest of their family had moved to Boston, adopting new identities of their own. They still visited each other regularly but a coven of 8 was quite harsh on the local wildlife so they'd decided to split up for a bit.

Another major change that had happened in the last few months was that Leia had been officially named the Volturi's representative of the American continent. This role had brought with it immense responsibility and the need for constant communication with the Volturi leadership. Today, she was scheduled to discuss the latest developments in the vampire world with Aro and Caius.

The screen flickered, and the faces of Aro and Caius appeared, each in their respective locations. Aro was now based in Hong Kong, having opened a new branch of his own to further the Volturi's influence. Leia was sure though that at least part of the reason was that he'd wanted to get away from Caius. There had been more and more disagreements between the two kings following Leia's mind-trick. On the one hand, the distance seemed to help but on the other, Aro opening and leading a new branch by himself now essentially put Leia on the same level as him and Caius. Especially since Marcus was still very much passive. He'd accompanied Aro to Asia but was mostly only focusing on keeping the peace within their coven and was rarely taking part in meetings.

Aro seemed to radiate a newfound energy. The bustling city visible through a window behind him contrasted sharply with the ancient, dimly lit chamber of Volterra where Caius remained. Aro's dark eyes sparkled with enthusiasm, while Caius's expression was as stern and unyielding as ever.

"Leia, my dear", Aro greeted warmly, his voice melodic. "How wonderful to see you. I trust you are well?"

"Good to see you too, Aro. Caius", Leia nodded to them both. "Let's dive into the latest updates. Aro, you first."

Aro's face lit up even more, if that was possible. "Ah, yes! We've had tremendous progress here in Hong Kong. The new branch is thriving, and I must say, the transition to vegetarianism has been quite enlightening. The benefits are manifold. Increased control, fewer disruptions with humans, and an overall sense of well-being."

Leia could sense the mixed reactions from the guards behind Aro. Renata, Chelsea, Afton, Demetri, and Felix stood a few steps back, their expressions ranging from resigned to mildly disgruntled. They were clearly less enthusiastic about this lifestyle change but were adapting out of loyalty to their leader.

Caius scoffed, his lip curling in disdain. "Vegetarianism may work for you, Aro, but I see no reason to abandon our traditional ways. The Volturi have ruled for millennia without such… compromises."

Leia leaned forward, her gaze steady on Caius. "Caius, I understand your reservations, but we've seen significant improvements in vampire-human relations due to these changes. It's worth considering, even if only for a trial period."

Aro nodded vigorously, his voice taking on a persuasive tone. "Indeed, Caius. The advantages are undeniable. Perhaps you could start small, see the effects for yourself? It's a new era, and adaptation is key to our continued dominance."

Caius's eyes narrowed, but he remained silent, clearly weighing their words. Leia seized the moment to push further. "Caius, trying this new approach doesn't mean abandoning our strength or traditions. It's about evolving and ensuring our survival in a rapidly changing world."

Aro added with a subtle yet firm hint in his tone, "Yes, brother, evolution is necessary. And sometimes, a bit of adaptation is essential… or else we risk becoming obsolete."

The threat, though gently worded, was clear. Aro's diplomatic approach carried an underlying warning that the old ways could not continue unchallenged forever.

Caius finally nodded, albeit reluctantly. "Very well, I will consider it. But do not expect a swift conversion."

Leia smiled, sensing the minor victory. "That's all we ask, Caius. Consideration and an open mind."

Aro clapped his hands together, clearly pleased. "Excellent! Now, onto other matters. The American branch, Leia, how are things on your end?"

Leia nodded, ready to share the progress. "Things are progressing well. We're holding regular meetings with Sam Black, the leader of the Quileute tribe, Carlisle Cullen, and Tanya Denali. The cooperation between the vampires and the Quileute wolves has been remarkably stable. We've recently had an interesting development with Mario. He's resurfaced and fallen for Irina, joining her coven."

Aro raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Mario, you say? That's quite the twist. How are the Denali's handling his return?"

Leia smiled slightly. "They've welcomed him. Irina seems genuinely happy, and that's fostered a more cohesive dynamic within their group."

She continued: "Additionally, thanks to Alice's visions, we tracked down Melissa, the last survivor from the Forks war. She's a teleporter and has been evading us for some time. We gave her an ultimatum: either stay out of any Volturi-controlled areas—which would effectively banish her to Australia, Africa or Antarctica—or join one of the American covens and tehir vegetarian ways for a period of twenty years as a penalty for her crimes during the war."

Caius leaned forward, his interest piqued. "And what did she choose?"

"She chose to join Carlisle's group", Leia replied. "Carlisle welcomed her with open arms. It's been an adjustment, but he's confident that she'll adapt and contribute positively to their coven."

Aro's smile widened, his tone approving. "Excellent work, Leia. Your leadership and diplomacy continue to impress. Integrating someone like Melissa into Carlisle's group not only offers her a chance at redemption but also strengthens our collective community."

Caius, while still skeptical, seemed somewhat mollified by the news. "A reasonable outcome, given the circumstances. Let's hope she adheres to the terms."

Leia nodded. "I believe she will. Carlisle has a way of bringing out the best in people, even those who have strayed from the right path."

Aro beamed. "Wonderful. This is exactly the kind of progress we need. Cooperation and integration will ensure our continued success and stability."

Caius cleared his throat, his tone more serious. "While the American and Asian branches are making significant strides, there are some challenges here in Volterra. With Chelsea now with you in Hong Kong, there's been a noticeable increase in animosity among the remaining guard. Her influence is sorely missed, and Corin is doing what she can to keep everyone's spirits up, but it's not the same."

Aro nodded, his expression sympathetic. "I understand, Caius. Chelsea's talents are invaluable. Corin's efforts are appreciated, but we must find a more permanent solution to maintain morale and cohesion."

Caius continued: "Heidi has initiated a blood donation program. It's an effort to keep at least a part of the guard fed without resorting to hunting. This has been somewhat successful, though it's still met with resistance from those who are accustomed to a more... traditional approach."

Leia interjected: "That's an innovative step, Caius. Change is always difficult, but it's a move in the right direction. How are the guard members responding to it overall?"

Caius shrugged slightly. "It's mixed. Some see the practicality and are adapting, while others are more resistant. While it's true that the program has reduced our exposure and risk of discovery, many doubt the necessity of such steps. We've been doing perfectly fine until now after all."

Aro leaned forward, scowling a bit. "Do not underestimate the effect a general lack of violence can have on the guard's attitude, Caius. Perhaps we can expand this initiative. If the program shows promise, it could be implemented in other branches as well. A steady and sustainable food source is crucial for our future."

Leia nodded thoughtfully. "I think it's worth exploring. We need to find ways to maintain stability and reduce unnecessary violence and too many vampires will refuse to live vegetarian all the time. If Volterra can lead by example, it will set a precedent for the rest of us."

Caius seemed to consider this. "I will continue to monitor the program and report back on its progress. In the meantime, we must address the underlying tensions among the guard. Without Chelsea's influence, we need another way to ensure loyalty and cohesion."

Aro smiled gently. "We will find a way, brother. Together, we are stronger. Let's focus on fostering a sense of community and purpose. Each guard member must understand their role in our collective success."

Leia added: "We can also look into other ways to boost morale and unity. Perhaps increased training sessions, social gatherings, or even incentives for those who adapt to the new feeding program. Maybe the human blood Heidi collects can be used as a reward for those who behave particularly well? The best way to make people want something is by declaring it a precious resource to be earned."

Caius nodded, albeit reluctantly. "Very well. I will take these suggestions into consideration. Change is inevitable, but it must be managed carefully."

Aro clapped his hands together, his eyes shining with determination. "Indeed. We are on the cusp of a new era for our kind. Let's continue to work together, support each other, and build a future where we can all thrive."

Leia leaned back as the conversation progressed and listened to reports of potential new recruits, rumors of rule-breaking and when and where and whom may have to sent out to take care of it.

Without any existing vampire prisons, the death penalty was still the default method of punishment, followed by service to the Volturi and now, forced vegetarism under supervision from a trusted coven. Slowly but surely, Earth was changing.

Leia was satisfied.

Darth Vader POV

Life had treated Vader well these past few months. The – possibly former, definitely last – Sith Lord felt a renewed sense of purpose as he started to shape the galaxy together with two of his children into something he could actually be proud of. After freezing the Emperor, Vader had dumped his coffin on Hoth, the ice world that had nothing going for it but a small, abandoned Rebel base. It was in the Outer Rim, far from any hyperspace routes and constantly bombarded by asteroids so nobody wanted to live there. The temperature there would make sure Sidious' coffin wouldn't thaw anytime soon. Even if it did, there were no people on the planet that Palpatine could influence. Even just surviving would be hard on that planet thanks to the cold, lack of food and dangerous wampas.

Of course getting rid of Sidious had not automatically solved all the problems in the galaxy. There were still an awful lot of Palpatine's supporters and military hardliners to dispose of that had gotten too much political power. Five times Vader had to take his armada and start blockading, once even attacking a world that wouldn't accept the new government.

For the most part though, Bella's appointment as Empress had gone over relatively well. Her natural cheerful persona and her empathy for people of all kinds gained her the love of the people. The Jedi's endorsement, represented by Luke, helped greatly as well. And if there was a Grand Moff or two who thought they ought to be Emperor instead… Well, it rarely took Vader more than one holo call and some carefully applied pressure to their throats to convince them otherwise.

Bella was holding family meetings on a monthly basis now and pulling Leia's ghost over for it too. These meetings were sacred to Vader. They'd agreed on there being no politics and no talk about work, just family bonding time. For Vader, it was pure bliss.

Of course he still met with his children in person whenever he could find the time (and sometimes making excuses when he couldn't to go see them anyway).

Today was such a day. Vader was returning from a long day of inspecting troops and stopped by Luke's place. His son had moved into a penthouse in the same complex Bella also used on Coruscant (yes, they changed the name back) where also a lot of senators lived. The Imperial Palace, formerly known as Jedi temple, has been destroyed during Vader's first attempt to overthrow his old Master and Bella had refused his suggestion to have a new one build. She insisted she would only remain Empress until all member planets had a properly elected leader that would uphold the new constitution.

Bella should still be busy in the senate but Vader knew Luke had a free day today. So he'd decided to stop by and ask if maybe his son would like to tinker on the new royal starship that served as the Empress' private transport vessel whenever she made a planetary visit. Vader was constantly updating and boosting it. It had become their favorite past time together, Vader experimenting with changes to improve the ship and Luke taking it on a spin to test the changes.

The apartment complex was heavily guarded by Stormtroopers day and night. All the royal guards, loyal to only Sidious, had been executed but Vader had hand-picked a few guards from the former inquisitors that he was sure were scared enough of him that they would never dare anger him by letting anything happen to his children. Bella was regularly feeding them what she called dessert. Not quite the pure love she had for Vader and Luke but still a healthy dose of hope and happiness. With a diet like that, no darksider could remain so for long and their loyalty to Bella was growing with every day.

Vader greeted those of the guards he recognized by name, feeling a sense of contentment when he was saluted or greeted back. Respect rather than fear met him from most of these men. It almost reminded him of his time as a Jedi general.

At last he reached Luke's suite. The guard in charge of the floor announced his arrival via the intercom and shortly after, Vader was admitted in.

Vader crossed a big living room and empty kitchenette, eventually hearing Luke call him over from the balcony.

He sensed that his son was not alone a second too late.

For a moment Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi merely stared at each other. Seconds stretched into eternity.

Vader's mind was blank.

And then it went nope.

He turned around on the spot and walked back the way he'd come.

"Father!" Luke called after him at the same time that man dared to utter his cursed old name: "Anakin."
"Let go of me", Vader growled when Luke ran after him, trying to stop him by grabbing his sleeve.

The Jedi trailed after him, an old, tired man that watched him awkward and helpless. So deliciously helpless.

"Father, please. Don't be like this. Ben, I mean Obi-Wan has taught me everything I know about the Force. I still ask his advice often for my job. This isn't going to be the last time you see him around. Do you want to run away every time it happens?" Luke tried to reason with him.

Rage and fury, old simmers brought to new life rose in Vader and he shook off his son's hand. He turned around angrily, all but stabbing Luke's chest with his finger.

"I'm not running from anything! Leaving is the only thing I can do in order to not murder him. Get him out of my sight!"
"Luke, maybe it's not time. I appreciate the thought, but…" Kenobi trailed off. He sounded sad. Grief-stricken, even. Vader wanted to choke the life out of him. He vividly remembered the last time he'd seen the traitor, when he'd come to steal Bella from him. Oh how he wished he had cut him down back then!

"Then when is the time?" Luke asked his old Master before turning back to Vader. "Just once. Just talk to him once."

"I'm going to kill him", Vader threatened.

"No", Luke made determined. "I don't think you will. I trust you won't. Please. You need this."

"I need nothing from him", Vader denied.

Luke sighed. "Fine, if you won't do it for yourself, then do it for me."

Vader felt Luke reach out to him, knocking on his shields. In his stubbornness he almost didn't let him in. But it was rare for Luke to try and connect with him. A large part of his son was still wary of him and he was much more sensitive to the darkness sleeping in Vader's soul than Bella was. Luke was not at all comfortable sharing in Vader's emotions, especially when they were this volatile.

So Vader opened his shields for him, just a tiny bit, just enough for Luke to share what he wanted him to feel. The inner conflict was strong in his son. Self-doubt, worry, a hint of desperation but also hope. Vader knew Luke had accepted his position only with great reluctance and only because it had been the most promising way they could find to bring peace to the galaxy. But he still doubted whether it was the right path, whether the power wouldn't corrupt their family again, whether it would corrupt future generations of Jedi. Whether everything wouldn't fall apart once Bella so much as took an extended vacation.

If Vader and his old Jedi Master could get along, or at least be in the same room without killing each other, it would reassure Luke that he was on the right path.

And of course Vader wanted to keep Luke where he was. He wanted to keep seeing him, working with him, building their bond. He didn't want Luke to doubt him or the choice they made.

"I'm going to get myself a coffee from the little cafe on the ground floor", Luke said gently. "I'll be back in 30 minutes."

The brat was going to leave him alone with - ?!

Before Vader could find the words to protest, Luke had grabbed his cloak and closed the entrance door behind him.

Silence fell over the two remaining men like a heavy, suffocating blanket. Vader hadn't moved, was still standing facing the door and away from that man. When he heard a shuffling noise behind him though, he whirled around, his cloak swishing around his legs as if to underline his irritation.

Kenobi had sat down on the couch. He was slumped over, staring at his own hands that sat heavy on his knees.

He looked old. He was old, Vader realized, just a few years short of his sixties. Being just past his forties himself, Vader wouldn't have been in his prime any longer even if he'd had a whole body. That had never truly registered to him though. It was always his injuries, his mutilations that weakened him physically, so much so age barely played a role. But looking at the obvious signs of old age in his former Master now, the white hair, the wrinkles, Vader suddenly realized that he himself was also getting old. He had three grown children now. One already married.

Time was always moving forward. So much had happened in the last ten, twenty years. So much since he'd last looked at Kenobi with anything other than hatred.

"I'm sorry, Anakin", Kenobi said quietly. "I know you don't want to hear that… But I am. I failed you. I… didn't help you when I should've. I didn't listen. I didn't support you. I left you alone and I… I gave up on you. I shouldn't have. And I'm sorry."

"That's what you're sorry about!?" Vader snapped. Oh it was itching in his metallic hands to wring that wrinkly old neck.

"What about trying to kill me? What about mutilating me?! I don't care that you failed me. Everybody failed me, get in the kriffin' line! But you, you betrayed me!" Vader accused him.

Kenobi looked up at him tiredly. "Anakin, you were trying to kill me too."

"Don't call me that!" Vader snapped. Even after everything that had happened, Vader hated being called that name. He hated being reminded of the Jedi he used to be. His children calling him father was a gentle, loving connection to who he really used to be when he'd been at his best: a loving husband. But his Jedi days were long in the past and they would stay buried there.

"I wasn't trying to kill you", Vader denied. "Even back then, even as far gone as I was, I wouldn't have killed you. You were my brother. Had I met you at the temple, I would've let you flee. Even if given the order to chase you, I would've let you get away. All you had to do was stay out of my way. The Jedi had lost, all you had to do was give up. But you couldn't do that. You had to fight me. You had to try and kill me. And then you didn't even have the guts to go through with it!"
Vader had admitted to many mistakes he'd made in the past that he had justified before as a Sith. But there was no way he could ever forgive Obi-Wan. For twenty years and more he'd had to suffer from his limitations. The pain, the constant medical procedures, the loss of his humanity. A few years ago, he'd hated Obi-Wan for being the reason for all that suffering. Now… Now, that he could look back on his actions back then, he could understand that the man he'd been back then had to be stopped. But that only shifted his anger. He hated him for another reason now.

Obi-Wan should've killed him on Mustafar. It would've prevented so much suffering in the galaxy. It would've undermined all of Sidious' plans. He wouldn't have had so much time to strengthen the Empire, making it so hard to return that Republic that everybody was so crazy about.

Darth Vader could've died that day.

Vader didn't want to die now, he had so much returned to him that was worth living for. But if he could turn back time, if he could go back to that day and sacrifice everything he now had so that Luke and Leia could grow up with Padmé, he'd do it in a heartbeat.

"You were unarmed", Obi-Wan whispered with wet eyes. "Helpless. I couldn't kill you."

Unarmed.

Fucking hilarious.

"Why? Why couldn't you? Because it's against your precious Jedi code?" Vader mocked him.

"You were… Anakin, you were the most precious person in the galaxy to me. I couldn't. I loved you", Obi-Wan repeated. A lone tear made its way down his cheek.

Vader loathed him. With two steps he was in front of the Jedi, grabbing him by his robes, effortlessly lifting him off the ground as he got up in his face so he could really see him, see the scars in his face and hear the mechanical breathing and the hatred in his eyes.

"What you did to me was worse than death!" he hissed at him. Then he dropped him back onto the couch, hands shaking from rage.

"It's not just flesh. You left me with no way out", Vader continued. "No way to ever oppose Sidious. Do you think I wanted to be his mad blood hound?! Sidious wasn't supposed to live till the end of the month. I would've put Padmé on his throne. If only she had lived, I would've…" He trailed off, hands balled to fists, grief fighting against rage.

"Padmé never would've consented to that", Obi-Wan said quietly. "And you knew I wouldn't flee, Anakin. You knew I wasn't that kind of person. Not back then. Padmé and I both, we always fought for what we believed in. That's part of what you loved about us in the first place, isn't it?"

Vader could not deny it. But that wasn't the point.

"Because of what you did, I remained chained to the Emperor for decades. You could've ended it back then. You could've ended it at any point in time. Instead you stole my children. You told Luke that I killed his father and handed him a lightsaber!" Yeah, that had been an interesting conversation he'd had with his son.

"That was a mistake. One of many I've made", Obi-Wan admitted. "I could not have defeated you once you so much as had a minimum of mastery over the dark side." Gently he added: "In Luke I saw a new hope. And he was. Just not in the way I expected him to be. He exceeded every expectation I ever had. Still does."

Vader's anger drained out of him, if only a little. It was hard to remain furious at someone who was praising his son.

Obi-Wan took a deep breath and stood with creaking knees. "You cannot forgive me. To be honest, I can not forgive you either. Too much has happened for us to ever return to what we were, no matter how much my heart wishes it. I… I'm going to stay away from Coruscant for a while. Travel around. Maybe I have enough years left to train one more Padawan. This is the last time you're seeing me."

Vader very much doubted that. Knowing his luck, Kenobi would probably come back as a Force ghost to haunt him some more.

"We've both failed in the past", the Jedi continued quietly. "All we have left is the hope in a new generation. We have that in common, at least. Goodbye, old friend."

Kenobi stepped past him, his entire posture radiating heartbreak so strong a Force-blind person could've sensed it.

Vader gnawed his teeth, fists balled so tight if they were flesh his nails would've drawn blood. Curse Luke for making him do this.

"If I had overthrown Sidious back then", he snapped, "if I had become Emperor back then, I never would've found my way back. I would've become an even greater monster. You prevented that, if nothing else." Vader turned to look at Obi-Wan, who had stopped to look at and listen to him. "And you did keep an eye on Luke when I couldn't. It doesn't erase the suffering you've brought me. But Luke wants you around. So you're going to kriffin' stay around."

Obi-Wan stared at him with wide eyes. Vader wanted to punch his face.

He didn't.

"Thank you", the man that was not his brother said at last.

Silence once again fell over the two men. Vader looked away. His eyes flit over to a timepiece on the wall. Ten more minutes until Luke would return. He almost sighed.

Obi-wan sat back down at the couch, staring at the low table in front of him.

This would get awkward very quickly.

"Hey", Obi-Wan made and pressed a button on the table, activating a number of holographic figures. "Do you still play Dejarik?"

"Why, do you want to get destroyed?" Vader asked snappish.

Obi-Wan shrugged.

A few seconds passed.

Then Vader pulled an armchair towards him and sat down on the other end of the board.

Might as well.

"I've got 25 years of battle experience. You don't stand a chance."

Today was the day. The big day. The one everyone had been waiting for.

With rosy tears in her eyes, Rosalie Hale McCarthy reached into the growth gel and raised the small body out of the pod. Emmet grabbed the pair of scissors, the one that looked more like a small saw, made from six sharp vampire fangs that Emmet and Rose had pulled out of their own gums. No other material could cut through the placenta once it formed. The artificial womb had to be cut open regularily to make more room for the growing fetus. Regrowing fangs was painful buisiness for a vampire but neither had ever complained.

Emmet cut the umbical cord, a sort of dazed look on his face.

Rosalie gently wiped down the little face with a wet tissue. The tiny body wriggled in her arms. She gave it a gentle tap on the back, cradling it to her chest.

And the little baby gave its very first cry.

Everyone sighed in relief. Carlisle and Esme hugged each other, Alice clapped her hands and Jasper was grinning, dazed from all the happiness around him.

"He's beautiful", Edward said and wrapped an arm around Leia's hip.

That was still a matter of perspective, Leia found. Like any baby, he was red and wrinkly and the head was disproportionally large and he was still covered in the red growth gel. But as Rosalie, crying tears of happiness, wiped the baby boy down, revealing blue eyes and a small tuft of black hair on his head, Leia admitted he looked better than most babies. His skin was a bit paler and cleaner too, not a single spot on it. Once he stopped crying, his eyes appeared a bit larger, looking around innocently.

He was the first vampire-human hybrid ever to be born in their family.

"Well?" Carlisle asked grinning. "Are you finally going to tell us which name you settled on?"

"Edwin", Rosalie declared, smiling at her brother. "Edwin Alexander McCarthy."

"R-Really?" Edward asked, his mouth a bit open in shock.

"You didn't know?" Leia teased him.

Edward shook his head, eyes wide. "They wouldn't think about it when I was around."
"I knew", Alice bragged. "It's a great name, Rose."

"You and Carlisle helped us so much with the research", Rosalie said. "But it's Leia and you who even gave us the idea in the first place. He wouldn't be here without you."

"Oh Rose", Edward made and Rosalie handed her baby to his father so Edward could hug her.

"I'm a dad now", Emmet made with a dreamy smile, looking down at little Edwin. "I can barely believe it."

"And I'm a mom", Rosalie said, still crying. "We have a baby, Em. A real baby."

The newly baked parents shared a kiss over the newborn's head, which Edwin didn't like at all. He promptly started to fuss.

"He's going to need siblings", Alice decided. "Or at least cousins. Who's next? Leia? Esme?"
"Oh no, I'm not ready for parenthood", Leia warded off her second-favorite sister. Esme however gave a little embarassed smile and pressed herself against Carlisle a bit more.

"We have all the time in the world. Carmen's baby is growing well too so he'll have a playmate soon", Carlisle offered. But he too looked at the baby boy with yearning.

The Cullen Clan would grow in numbers in the future, no doubt about that.

"FINALLY!" Bella shouted and hurled the silver diadem away. It sailed over the railing surrounding the terrace she was standing on and landed with a plish in the lake surounding Varykino island.

"You know that crown was worth a fortune, don't you?" Luke said as he stepped up next to his sister.

"Oh, like we're ever going to have money problems", Bella said and rolled her eyes. "I'm just glad to be rid of the bloody thing. No more senate meetings! No more bills! No more arguments! Freedom at last!" She turned around with a swish, her richly decorated dress swirling around her legs. Vader stood behind her. He no longer hid his pale face under a hood and he preferred a plain black military uniform and coat these days instead of robes, though his lips were still hidden behind a breathing mask.

Bella reached out to grab his hands, both of them covered in synth skin. They were pale and sported a few wrinkles here and there as they were designed to fit what little remained of his body in appearance.

"It's a few years late, father. But we can finally travel the galaxy together. We can go and see all the stars in it."

"And be the first ones to visit them all", Vader completed for her. She couldn't see his smile but she knew it was there. Vader had resigned from his position of Supreme Commander half a year before Bella resigned as Empress. They'd made a whole bunch of travel plans together and finally, finally they would get the chance to put them into action. The looked ahead together to the New Hope, the royal starship that had already carried Bella to multiple planets during her reign. Now it would serve as a home for Vader and her while they were traveling.

"I guess this is goodbye then", Luke said a bit morosely. The judicary branch of the New Republic's government had been given over to and would remain in the hands of the Jedi order. As the head of said order and so long as it still had so few members, Luke was the only one of them who wouldn't be rid of his position of Chief Justice any time soon.

"Oh don't look like that." Bella gave him a friendly punch against his shoulder. "We're still going to have regular ghost meetings. All of us, I do insist you bring Mara more often. And the twins too. We don't want to miss them growing up."

Shmi and Luke were adorable seven-year olds and Bella loved playing with them.

Actually, Luke had wanted to call his son Ben at first, after the alias of his old Jedi Master. Bella had vetoed that one vehemently and he'd eventually changed his mind. So little Luke was now named after his father, who still couldn't go by his actual name in public. (He was still complaining about that to Bella every time it came up.) They had more trouble deciding on a name for the girl. Mara had no memories of her own family but Luke had liked the idea of names being carried on in the family. Padmé and Beru were still too much connected to grief and painful memories and while Luke would like to commemorate Leia, he thought it bad taste to name his daughter after the public name of the Empress. Besides, millions of little girs had been names Leia after Bella's inauguration. Eventually, they settled on Shmi to honor Luke's paternal bloodline.

As they said their farewells to Luke, Bella couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement for the journey ahead. The galaxy stretched out before them, a vast expanse of possibilities waiting to be explored. And with Vader by her side, she knew that anything was possible.

With one last embrace, they boarded the New Hope, leaving behind beautiful scene of Lake country in exchange for the promise of adventure. As they charted a course for the unknown, she knew that the best was yet to come.

100 years after the party of Endor.

Nate Clearwater stopped the hovercar by the gatehouse and watched the guard inside approach. A constant quiet buzz could be heard from the magfield ahead. No doubt any hovercar trying to move past that gate would crash to the ground like an old-fashioned fossil-driver.

The guard was tall and broad-shouldered with enough muscles to intimidate a professional boxer. But he was also tanned and had brown eyes. Not a vampire then.

"Name and reason for your visit?" the guard asked bored.

"Uh, Nate. Nate Clearwater. I'm here to meet Ella. I mean, Isabella Masen."

The guard checked something on his phone, then nodded.

"Welcome and good day to you, Sir." He pressed a button and the buzz stopped. Nate gave him a nervous wave and drove forward.

Masen Manor was huge. Nate sat for nearly three minutes in the car, just trying to gather the courage to get out. Eventually he locked the car and adjusted his jacket, its temperature-regulating fabric subtly shifting to counter his rising body heat. He took a deep breath, inhaling the crisp, slightly metallic scent of the late 22nd-century air. The path ahead was illuminated by soft, embedded lights in the ground, guiding him toward the imposing manor that loomed in the distance.

The manor was a testament to architectural grandeur and technological sophistication. Towering white walls rose up like pristine cliffs, interspersed with vast expanses of crystal-clear glass that shimmered in the twilight. Solar panels seamlessly integrated into the glass collected energy even as the sun began to set, casting a golden glow across the estate. The grounds were meticulously maintained by autonomous gardeners—small, box-like robots that trimmed hedges and mowed lawns with perfect precision.

Nate swallowed hard, his nervousness amplified by the stark contrast between this palatial home and his own modest, middle-class upbringing. He had never felt more out of place. The sleek hover-car that had brought him here now sat silently on the circular driveway, its engines cooling with a barely audible hum.

He could almost hear his parents' whispered warning in his ear and their complains.

"Why did it have to be a vampire princess, Nate?"

As if he could answer that question. Nate had no idea what he'd done to deserve the most magnificent creature on earth. He'd been going out with her for three weeks now and he could still barely believe she liked him back.

"She's not a vampire princess", he'd told his parents. In his eyes, she was a queen but he didn't say that. His parents hadn't meant it as a compliment. "She's a half vampire."
"She's the daughter of a vampire queen. That makes her a vampire princess. Everyone in that house will want to eat you."

That too wasn't true. Ever since the world at large had learned about the existence of vampires some forty years ago, people had been afraid of them. But vampires didn't drink human blood, only animals. Maybe in the past that had been different but Queen Leia Masen of the American Vampire Association had outlawed human killing for her own kind. Besides, Nate's tribe had a historical treaty with the AVA that was so old it went all the way back to the organization's predecessor, the Olympic Alliance.

There was nothing in this manor for Nate to fear.

Well, nothing but the disapproval of the parents of the girl his soul belonged to.

As he approached the front entrance, a door constructed of dark, polished wood flanked by intricate glass panels that seemed to ripple like water, he hesitated. How would he be perceived by the Masens? Would they be suspicious of him for being Quileute, the way his parents were suspicious of all vampires? Would he have to struggle against old racial prejudices? Would they judge him for his background, his less-than-elite status? He shook his head, trying to dispel the doubts. If nothing else, Ella loved her family so they couldn't be bad people.

Nate rung the bell and the door slid open with a soft hiss, revealing an elegantly lit foyer. The interior was no less impressive than the exterior: a vast space dominated by sleek lines, polished surfaces, and minimalist decor. Soft, ambient light emanated from hidden sources, casting a warm, inviting glow. A grand staircase with a glass balustrade spiraled upwards.

"Nate!" Ella's voice rang out, bright and cheerful. She descended the staircase with a grace that took his breath away. Her reddish-bronze hair, shimmering like molten metal, cascaded to her shoulders in soft waves. Her skin was alabaster pale, a stark contrast to his own bronze complexion, and her brown eyes sparkled with a mix of excitement and warmth. Her dress, a shimmering fabric that seemed to change color with her every movement, flowed around her like liquid silver. She reached the bottom step and threw her arms around him, her smile radiant. Ella looked like a gorgeous early twenties woman, even though Nate knew her to be barely sixteen years of age. That made her two year younger than his eighteen. Not that you would be able to tell. His… lupine heritage had made Nate shot up as a boy, tall as a tree and with muscles that would make a bodybuilder groan in jealousy. Nobody would be able to tell he was anything younger than 25. It was also hard to believe Ella had been physically mature for nearly a decade already though as she still exhibited a kind of rebellious enthusiasm Nate knew from many younger teenagers.

Ella smiled at him radiantly. Nate's heart skipped a beat, and he held her tightly, the familiar warmth of her embrace calming his nerves. She smelled faintly of lavender, a scent that always brought him comfort.

"Hey", he managed to say, his voice sounding too thin in the vast space.

"Come on, everyone's waiting to meet you", she said, taking his hand and leading him deeper into the house.

"Everyone?" Nate asked faintly. He thought he would only meet her parents.

'Everyone' turned out to include Ella's aunt Alice and uncle Jasper Whitlock, who also lived in Mason Manor, their son and her cousin Marc, who was home from university during summer break, her two other cousins Violetta and Marie-Ann, the twins who her parents were baby sitting to give their parents, Emmet and Rosalie McCarthy some time for themselves (both only small children, which for hybrids meant they were probably less than a year old) and the European vampire ambassador Santiago, who held a semi-permanent residence with the family.

Fortunately that last one Nate was only introduced to in passing. Everyone else though was quickly trying to draw him into a conversation.

The family had gathered in a large drawing room. Queen Leia was a gorgeous brown-haired vampire lady with far too piercing eyes for his taste. She greeted him polite enough and asked him whether she could offer him anything to drink or eat. Not knowing what the right answer might be, he nervously admitted he could use some water and a sandwich. His metabolism made sure he was practically always hungry. The boy flinched a bit when the Queen casually displayed her famous supernatural abilities by opened the cupboards with nothing but a glance, tableware floating out and towards him all on its own.

The Queen's consort, Edward Masen, Ella's father, watched Nate squirm with a bemused smile. Oddly, Nate felt much less under the microscope under his gaze, then though he knew he was the one out of the two who could read minds.

"Here's some water for you", Leia said as a floating jug landed on the small table Nate sat in front of. "4PO, bring a few sandwiches for our guest", she added, glancing towards a small intercom device on the wall.

"Yes, Your Majesty. A sandwich will be brought shortly", an electronic voice responded promptly from some hidden loudspeaker.

Alice was practically vibrating on her seat from excitement. "So, Nate, how did you and Ella meet?"

"Uhm, I met her on a hunt", Nate began, trying to keep his voice steady. "She was out looking for bears. I was trying to see if I could run from Seattle to Portland in under three hours. My cousin lives there and we've always kind of bet who of us could run faster." He went a little red around the ears.

"And how long have you two been together?" Jasper asked, his tone calm but probing.

"About three weeks", Nate replied, glancing at Ella for reassurance. She smiled brightly at him from where she sat next to him on the couch and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.

Marc, who had been lounging on a nearby chair, leaned forward with a smirk. "So what do you do for dinner dates? The wolves still eat human food, don't they?"

Nate hesitated, unsure of how to answer. Unlike vampirism, his tribe's abilities were not widely known and it was odd to talk in such a big group of strangers about anything involving the supernatural.

"I'll have you know we have perfectly ordinary dinner dates!" Ella jumped in for him, pushing up her nose haughtily at her cousin. "We just go to steakhouses more often and I might bring a thermos now and then for extra spice."

Violetta and Marie-Ann, the twins, were peering at him with wide, curious eyes. "Do you turn into a big wolf?" Marie-Ann asked, her voice filled with awe.

"Yes, I do", Nate said, smiling at the twins. "But only when I need to."

Jasper tilted his head. "And how do you find being in a house full of vampires, young man? Does it not make you uncomfortable?"

Nate swallowed hard, knowing from Ella that out of everyone, this vampire would definitely sense any lie. "It's...a little intimidating", he admitted. "But I'm here because I care about Ella, and I want to get to know her family."

"There's no reason to feel intimidated", Leia reassured him, a bit warmer now. "We do of course take Ella's well-being very seriously, Nate. We hope you understand that our questions are meant to ensure she is treated with the utmost respect but we do not intend to frighten you."

Nate nodded, trying to muster his courage. "I understand, ma'am. I care about Ella a lot, and I would never do anything to hurt her."

Edward leaned over to his queen, placing a reassuring hand on Leia's shoulder. "Leia, let's give Nate a chance. He seems sincere", Edward said, his voice calm and soothing.

Leia glanced at Edward and then back at Nate, her expression softening a bit more. "Very well. But know that we will always be watching out for her."

"Yes, ma'am", Nate said, his voice steadier now.

Just then, the door opened and a figure entered, carrying a tray with at least ten sandwiches. The figure was strikingly human-like, with blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. Its skin had an unusual shimmer, as if some party clown had emptied a bag of gold dust over it, making it sparkle under the lights. What was shocking though was that this… thing had no natural scent at all. Nate's heightened senses immediately picked up on a number of artificial scents instead—clean, metallic, and distinctly non-human. The way it moved was a bit more abrupt and nowhere near as fluid as a vampire or even a human.

Nate's eyes widened in shock as he realized what he was looking at. Robotics and AI had advanced a lot in the last few decades. Self-driving hover cars and law mowers, kitchen aids, fully automatic factories and so on. But a fully human-appearing robot this advanced shouldn't be possible with current technology. His mind raced, trying to comprehend how what he was seeing was possible. He knew AVA industries had made a lot of modern inventions, including the hover car, but this?!

"Your sandwich, sir", the robot said, placing the tray in front of Nate with a polite nod. It then turned to Queen Leia and inclined its head respectfully. "Your Majesty."

"Thank you, 4PO", Leia replied curtly.

The robot then focused on Nate, a mechanical yet disturbingly human smile spreading across its face. "Nate Clearwater", it began, its voice pleasant but carrying an ominous undertone. "As a trusted servant of the Queen, it is my duty to ensure the safety and happiness of Princess Ella."

Nate swallowed hard, nodding as he picked up the sandwich.

The robot leaned in slightly, its blue eyes locking onto Nate's. "Should you ever harm her, in any way", it continued, its pleasant tone belying the menace in its word, "I will personally ensure that you experience a level of pain and suffering beyond your worst nightmares."

Nate froze, the sandwich halfway to his mouth. The robot's smile remained fixed, but its eyes were dead, cold and calculating.

"You see", the robot continued, its voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper even though everyone in the room had super hearing and would clearly be able to overhear, "I am equipped with the most advanced sensors and implements. I can peel the skin from your body millimeter by millimeter, ensuring you feel every agonizing second. I can sever nerves in precise locations, keeping you conscious but immobilized, leaving you to endure unending torment."

Nate's heart pounded in his chest. He could barely breathe.

"And if that's not enough", the robot went on, still smiling, "I can induce pain that will make you beg for death, and keep you alive just so you never escape it. Your mind will break long before your body does, but I can repair you, start the cycle all over again. Eternity in a living hell, Mr. Clearwater."

Everyone was dead silent. Nate just gaped at the robot. You could hear a pin drop.

Then Queen Leia sighed, Marc started laughing and Ella jumped to her feet angrily.

"GRANDPA!" Ella shouted and her pale skin even got a pink hue, her equivalent of going beet red.

If Nate hadn't been shocked before, he definitely was when a moment later, a translucent blue head started to rise from the carpet. As if rising from an elevator, the form of a hooded man came straight out of the ground, eyes sparkling with mischief from underneath a mob of curly locks.

"My favorite granddaughter is calling me?" the human figure that disturbingly didn't smell like anything at all asked Ella.

His girlfriend put her hands to her hips and glared down the apparition.
"Grandpa! You messed with 4PO's programming again, didn't you!?" she accused him. "You made him tell Nate those horrible things!"

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not putting words in his mouth", the apparition claimed.

There was a snicker from somewhere and Nate turned to see another two ghostly blue heads glance into the room through the south wall.

The Queen sighed.
"Father, really, we were trying to have a serious conversation here-"

"I swear it wasn't me. I deactivated the intimidation protocols like I said I would. One of them must've reactivated them", the hooded ghost said and nodded towards the two others who now emerged fully from the wall.

The two new figures were just as blue, one male also wearing robes but without a hood, looking remarkably similar to the first man. The other was a woman, a smile in her eyes, wearing a long, flowing dress.

"I thought it was pretty funny", the blue woman said, raising her hand as if she was in school.
"Aunt Bella!" Ella protested, now turning towards her.

"Aww, come on! If your wolf wants to be part of this family, he has to be able to take at least this much", the woman said.

"Also, if you didn't want your aunt to play pranks on you, you probably should've remembered to invite her", the man at her side added with a grin. "You could've let us know you'd bring him today. Or at least put the meeting on a regular Candy Day."

Leia rolled her eyes. "Don't worry, Nate. 4PO isn't going to hurt you and neither is anyone else in this family."

"So long as you don't hurt Ella", Bella agreed with a nod.

"That's what I said", said the robot, 4PO.

"By the stars, why do you all have to be so embarrassing?!" Ella cursed.

"I'm pretty sure that's the main job of any family", Bella offered and winked at Nate.

"I think I want to show Nate my room now", his girlfriend decided. She pulled Nate up. "Come on, we're going."

"Ah, it was a pleasure to meet you all", Mate offered weakly and then allowed himself to be pulled along by the small hybrid, which he towered over with a good head.

"Ugh, I can't believe they did that!" Ella complained once they were out of the room, on the way upstairs and with the illusion of privacy. "I'm really sorry. My family is weird, I know. I understand if you're mad..."

"I'm less mad and more confused", Nate admitted. "I didn't think such a human looking robot was even possible. And I thought you only had two aunts. Who were those blue people? And where did they come from? I didn't see a holo projector anywhere."

"Those... weren't holograms", Ella said slowly and pulled him into a bedroom with a desk and PC as well as a hobby corner currently sporting a canvas and an assortment of paints.

"And I do technically only have the two aunts, Aunt Alice and Aunt Rosalie. Aunt Bella, Uncle Luke and Grandpa, they... They all died a long time ago."

"D-Died?" Nate's eyes went wide and he pointed toward the way they'd just come. "Y-You mean, those were... Those were actual..."

"Ghosts", Ella finished for him. "Yeah."

Ghosts. Even growing up with the legends of his tribe and then having the world ripped away from under his paws when he first laid eyes on the most amazing person in earth, Nate was shocked upon hearing that revelation.

"Are all past family members of yours ghosts? I mean... Is that just what vampires become after...?" he wondered.

"Oh! No... No, it's just them", Ella explained. "Aunt Bella had it as her talent, the whole seeing ghosts and making them appear thing. I don't think any of them ever even were vampires."

"So you just live in a haunted house. And they, they walk through walls and... What are they doing the whole day? Can anyone see them?" Nate asked, feeling morbidly curious.

"They're not here all the time", Ella stressed. "Just every first Sunday of the month and for birthdays and stuff. We call the regular visitation days 'Candy Days'. It's a sort of family inside joke because Aunt Bella always gives out candy when she comes, in the form of happiness bubbles. You know, the same way Uncle Jasper can also make people feel things. Only vampires can see them typically, I wasn't even sure if you would be able to."

"Aha", Nate made a bit wary. "And exactly how careful do I have to be around your poltergeist?"

"Oh, the Walkers are harmless. I mean, Uncle Luke and Grandpa have telekinetic powers similar to Mom's, if a bit weaker. But they barely ever interact with the material world. Except for when Grandpa plays with 4PO. He likes to tinker with him. Mum said she got sick of him taking apart the solar panels and causing blackouts all the time so she dumped a bunch of electronics in the basement and banished him there. Three missed Candy Days later he came out with 4PO in tow."

"You weren't kidding, your family is weird", Nate said with a chuckle and pulled Ella to him.

"Well then you should fit right in, shouldn't you?" Ella asked nervously. "First werewolf to ever imprint on a half vampire and all that?"

"Ella, I'm never going to let a bit of weirdness stop me from being with you", he promised. "I love you."

"Thank you, Nate." Ella smiled relieved and leaned up to kiss him softly. Butterflies went crazy in Nate's stomach at the contact.

"I promised to show you my paintings, didn't I?" Ella said a bit shyly when they parted. "Do you want to see them now?"

"Yes, that sounds great", he replied, smiling back. He wanted to know everything about Ella, the sun is his universe. And as his girlfriend started to show him masterworks (in his entirely non-biased opinion) of acryl and aquarell, thoughts of ghosts and queens with strange powers quickly fled his mind. What counted was just him and her alone together. Forever.

AN:Gee, I don't know why it took me so long to edit and upload this epilogue. I'm sorry for the long wait. But at last, here you have it! This story is officially over now. Happy ending for everyone.

I particularly liked the bit about Vader and Obi-Wan meeting. It's something I never got around to including in the story but I figured it would be interesting to see how a redeemed Vader reacted to his presence. Other than that I don't think there were any surprises here. I didn't have the time or inclination to write out a violent encounter between Leia and the Volturi, even if it would've been cool to see her use her improved telekinetic powers to utterly crush them. In the end, she was raised to be a politician and a diplomat so I thought it would fit for her to just reform the system, similar to what Bella and Luke are doing. Bella became Empress. Because we all know she'd be grand at the job. And of course the Skywalkers would all become Force ghosts and continue to hold family meetings with the immortal vampire queen-of-Earth Leia. Seriously, what did you expect?

I'd really love for you to leave a comment, telling me what you think about my story.

Until next time,

Haxong.
