Chapter 10
The room was dark, the glow of the moonlight and the lights of the city of Oakland were shining into the hotel room. Olivia's head was nestled in the crook of Fitz' neck as they lay as one on the king-sized bed. Her hand was wrapped to rest on his opposite shoulder. She rubbed the tip of her nose gently on his neck.
Fitz was rubbing her arm that was resting on his shoulder. If you listened close enough, you could hear the breathing of Baby Grant sleeping soundly in his cradle not too far from the bed. It was such a peaceful setting for the moment for them both.
They had just finished making love. Liv's body was weak, and she was tired. She couldn't remember the last time she was able to get more than five hours of sleep. Right now, she was so comfortable, so safe, and felt so loved. She took a deep breath.
"How do you do it Fitz?" She whispered.
Fitz tilted his head, so it rested on hers. He gave her a gentle kiss on the top of her head. "Do what Livvie? What do I do?"
"You make me feel like the only woman in the world. That first time we made love, and you kissed me from thigh to lips, such a chill ran up my body. That moment was the moment I loved you, how you could make me feel so special, so loved." She tightened her body closer to him. "Now, you're doing it again."
"It's nothing you don't deserve. You changed me that night. When you defended me against a dozen men, in your underwear and bra, I knew I could never love anyone else. Not anyone as fierce and determined as you. The love making was a bonus." He gave a sighed laugh.
"The shocked look on their faces when they saw me in my bra and underwear, then the fear when they saw the bat." Her hand moved from his shoulder to his cheek, "They weren't getting you, no way. I could see how stressed you were, how tired of it all you were, and I would do it all over again for you."
She felt him pull his head up and she looked at him. Still with her hand resting on his face, his lips gently covered hers. "And now, you are the mother to my son. Two of the best gifts I ever could've received."
Liv put her head back down, taking a deep breath through her nose. He felt her close her eyes and open them again. "He's a good baby, he's my world and I am so afraid I made the wrong choice, putting him in so much danger. The dreams I've had, they haunt me. I just can't wait for some stability."
He picked up her hand and interlocked his with hers. "Patience, we'll get it. I told you, you don't have to be afraid of Putney anymore."
"Fitz, and I told you, you don't know them like I do, they will stop at nothing. Look, can we just not talk about it."
Fitz took a deep breath. He closed his eyes. He didn't want to argue. "I have to go meet with my detail for a bit, you'll be ok in here, I should be back in about a half hour." He got up to get ready. He kissed her forehead, and her head fell on to the pillow. Fitz pulled the blanket up to her shoulders. He turned and leaned over the cradle and gave Grant a gentle kiss.
"I can't wait to have you at the ranch. We'll be able to walk around, freely, no worries. Just one more night here, then some of that stability you want, Ok."
"Ok." She said back but wasn't too convinced.
He rubbed Grant's curls and put the blanket up to his chest. His little arms went above his head feeling the sudden touch, but he relaxed and stayed asleep. Fitz closed his eyes, thanking God for such a beautiful creation. He turned back to Liv, who was already asleep, and he exited the room.
Lewis James was a career criminal. He had been in and out of prison facilities throughout the state of California. He was a mastermind behind several robberies in the San Diego area, he had coordinated several hits on rival gang members, and he was known to help dirty politicians get rid of their problems for a hefty price.
Jax Putney had Lewis on his payroll for several years now. When Fitz was running for Governor, after his weekend with Liv, he used his resources to find out everything he could about the Putney clan. As soon as it was confirmed Boozer was dead, Fitz wasn't going to let anything like that happen again.
Having grown up in the shadows of Big Gerry, Fitz was no dummy when it came to dirty dealings. Fitz just chose not to be a part of them. Dirty politics wasn't his game, it was his father's game. He had to play smart not to be associated with the same people his father was working with.
He knew, through Olivia, Boozer was hired as a favor from his father for Jax to take out Erin, to scare and send a message to Olivia. The only thing Jax didn't know is Fitz had a connection with Olivia, and now he had a problem with Fitz.
The look on Jax's face when Fitz handed him back the 10 million he donated to the campaign was priceless. "Your dirty money is not welcomed on my campaign. Your money comes with favors, and I, unlike my father, do not participate in favors, at least not ones of your liking."
"You know how far back our families go, Fitz, you can't get rid of me that easily."
"Watch me, and don't tempt me. You may think I am the same little boy you saw running around the Governor's mansion, but I assure you I am not. I am also not anything like that abusing son of yours. You tell him to stay clear away from my campaign. I have no use for him."
So, unbeknownst to Gerry and Jax, Fitz had an upper hand in knowing what happened to Boozer. He also knew why and how it happened. Fitz orchestrated a team from Santa Barbara to do some investigating and he found the payroll of the Putney clan. Lewis James was the head money maker, so Fitz had someone on the inside watching his every move.
When Fitz received word Lewis was on the move with two of his henchmen headed to Los Angeles, there was no doubt something was in the works for Fitz's waterfront speech. Fitz figured it was Jax's way of repaying him for shutting him out and for dumping Chip.
He had no idea it was his father's way of keeping him from Olivia. He didn't even know his father knew about the meeting with Olivia, that was until Olivia told him about the phone call. There is one person who knows the inside of the Governor's office better than Fitz and that's his father.
His detail would never give information out without letting Fitz know. His father knew how to hear the calls. That was the only explanation, but he didn't realize this until Liv mentioned the phone call being leaked. He then put two and two together about Los Angeles, now Fitz had a plan of his own.
At first, it was an innocent shot in the dark. Call the president and inquire about two judges from the ninth circuit in California to be considered for the Supreme Court. He just wanted his father out of the picture when he left Los Angeles to stay the night in Oakland.
Fitz spoke to President's press secretary and after two days, the president called Fitz back. He would consider the nominees, but he had to run it past his Congress along with a few others. "Good," Fitz laughed, "do it this weekend and get my father out of my hair." He said jokingly.
"You got it, young Governor." Fitz was as shocked as could be, he was just joking, but it worked, and Fitz was clear to go to Oakland without an explanation to his father. That's all he intended to do.
Then, Linda approached him about speaking in place of him. That was unexpected, unexpected but welcomed. He could only imagine if he didn't get here when he did.
After he received the burner phone from Huck, Fitz was told about a call his father made to Lewis James right after his father left for DC. They only had a trace and the trace led them to Lewis's phone in Los Angeles, which could only mean one thing. Now, this became personal.
His father had already become obsolete to Fitz once he chose to keep his child a secret from him. Conspiring to keep him from Olivia altogether and the scheme of having Lewis James plan something, it became a whole new ballgame, one Fitz was not going to lose.
While Liv was visiting with Vivian and Huck was watching Grant, Fitz had Tom use the master key and get into the hotel room with Putney. Tom sedated Davis, who didn't even see Tom coming, and took Putney down to the garage using a suitcase.
Just before Fitz jumped into the shower, he received word from Tom that he and Putney were on their way to Los Angeles. It was time to talk to Huck. He needed details Liv was holding back about Chip. He also needed to know the extent of how much Liv was tortured by him. It was time to put an end to Chip and the danger he posed to Liv and his child.
Now, with Liv and Grant safe, Fitz had Huck come up to a room set up as a meeting room. He was left alone with Huck, and Huck stood with his hands behind his back, shifting from left to right. Huck didn't know how to tell Fitz he lost Putney.
"I have Chip." Fitz said, seeing Huck's body language. "I also owe you a world of thanks for taking care of Liv during the pregnancy, for loving Grant like you do, that has not gone unnoticed."
Huck breathed a sigh of relief. "Uh, ok, I love Olivia like a sister. Her and Abby, they are family. I am sorry I couldn't save Abby, couldn't protect her, I would never let that happen to Liv. What are you doing with Putney?"
"I asked Liv to bring you, Davis, and Grant back to my ranch in Santa Barbara for the week. Before I go any further, I need you to agree with it. I can't lose them again just yet, Huck. Can you help with that?"
Huck looked to the side, then he looked down. "Yeah, sure, I can do that."
"Thank you. Tell me about Chip, what has he done to Liv. I know she attacked him, I know he attacked her, and I know Jax attacked Erin. I need to know how damaged Liv really is."
Huck was hesitant. He took a deep breath. "Governor. I don't think I should."
"Huck, I want to help, this is my family now, I have to know what I am up against. I know the Putney's as donors, dirty political games, I need to know what they have done to Liv."
Huck took a seat. He held his head in his hands. He thought of Abby, the beating, the killing. He thought of Liv, her attack on Chip, her nightmares, he could use an ally.
"He beat Abby something bad, Fitz. After she lost the baby, he was stuck in that marriage, and he was angry. Liv tried to get her out of there, but she couldn't. I've been at war, I've killed for the CIA, the way that man beat a woman is something I've never seen. It was horrible, and Liv was so pissed off."
Fitz nodded his head understanding. He's seen Liv angry, and with a bat. He could only imagine her acting out that anger.
"I stayed with Abby, tended to her wounds, to her injuries, and Liv bolted out of the house with her bat. When she came back, she felt she made the biggest mistake of her life. She knew his family would stop at nothing to seek revenge."
"Chip never admitted it was Liv that beat him, though, am I correct."
Huck nodded. "Yeah, he said he was attacked by a friend of Liv and Abby, so the Putney's began making their life hell. Then Liv drew up a restraining order and the press got word. Liv started taking pressure at work and was being followed. We had to hire someone to watch Abby day and night."
"Was Abby working at the time?"
"Yeah, she was working for Liv, and the one moment she thought her guard was outside, but he wasn't, Chip made his move. I have surveillance of Abby walking up the steps to her brownstone. He comes up behind her, breaks her neck, and makes sure she rolled down the stairs. She was a bloody mess."
"Did Liv ever see the footage? Is that what gives her nightmares?"
"No, I never showed her, I told her, we're waiting to get it into evidence, there's obstacles, the Putney's are challenging every motion. Liv arrived at Abby's and saw her lying dead." Huck stopped. He shook his head, reliving the scene. "She cradled Abby's head for fifteen minutes, crying, begging Abby to wake up. I finally had to lift her off Abby so the coroner could take her. After that all the nightmares began."
"They're bad?"
"Very bad. Chip showed up at Abby's funeral. If Erin wasn't there, I think I would've killed him. Liv doesn't want him dead though."
"I know, she's told me."
"Uh, anyway, I put Davis on Liv and someone on Erin. When Liv was out here back in May they got to Erin, I think she told you."
"Yeah, she told me, and I know what happened to Boozer. Nice work."
"During her pregnancy she would wake up screaming. Chip attacked her."
"Yeah, she told me that too."
"After the attack we moved to a new place. Davis was living with us full time now, and Liv was afraid to go to sleep. She would go two or three nights without sleeping, just working with Quinn to take down Putney. This past month, after Grant was born, she would have nightmares every night, screaming your name, Abby's name."
"Ok, Huck, thank you, I've heard enough. This is what is happening. I am going to need you and Davis on board with this, keep Liv out of it for now. I plan to tell her, just not yet." He told Huck everything. Huck agreed it was good.
"Smart Governor. Liv is right, you are different. We'll help in anyway. Could I just make one suggestion?"
"Sure."
"Bring Vivian to the ranch too. She's the closest Liv has had to a friend since Abby died, it could help her, and it may convince her to stay longer."
"Let me get back to Liv and Grant. I'll consider it. Thanks Huck, she's lucky to have you."
In Fresno Jax was frantically calling Chip. The phone kept going right to voicemail. Until today, Jax didn't think his son had voicemail on his phone. He always picked up or had someone pick up for him. Something was wrong, and Jax had a very bad feeling.
Jax was sitting in on a town hall meeting in Fresno. He needed Fresno, it was a hot ground for distribution, and Jax needed the town council on his side. His mind, though, was not on this meeting, and he didn't care much about buying the council now. Oakland was two hours away and his best men were in Los Angeles.
He closed his eyes. This Olivia Pope had ways of doing things, ways to beat the Putney's that no other person could. Why did he have the feeling this was the case now, that she somehow got the upper hand?
While looking at his phone, it began to buzz. Lewis James calling. "This can't be good," he whispered. "Tell me what's going on."
"Grant said to abort the mission. The boat is ready though, all the money on the supplies spent. He gave no explanation, just to abort."
Jax rubbed his face in frustration. "Did he give you a meeting time for after the events?"
"No, he just said abort, yelled it again after I questioned it, and hung up."
Jax got to thinking. The only reason Gerry would abort would be if he wasn't going to be there. This whole mission was to keep Fitz at bay, in his sights. "You know what, don't abort, keep on schedule."
"But the orders were…"
"Did you hear me? Don't abort, keep it as is."
"Whatever. But this is on you. You know the woman is speaking, not the Governor"
"Then it's on me, just get it done. I don't care who is speaking, just get it done." Jax hung up now, deeply concerned. Why wasn't Fitz speaking? One thing he's learned, don't underestimate Fitz, he's smarter than he lets on. Something was wrong, and Jax now had a knot in his stomach from worry.
"Abby, get away from the cradle, Abby, you're dripping blood into the cradle, just back away from it." Liv was trying to move Abby back; she saw Chip getting ready to lunge at her with the knife. If he struck her again, he would be directly over the cradle, and that means he would be too close to Grant.
"No need to move Abby, let me get him out of the way." Chip swooped up the baby and held him face out with is one hand. He cornered Abby to the wall, holding her there with his knee to her stomach. He had the knife over them both.
"Which one, Pope, the kid or the friend? What do you do Pope? Not so strong now, are you?"
Grant began screaming, a blood curling scream, as Abby tried to lunge at Chip and Liv saw Grant fall from his grasp as Abby took the knife to her heart to save Grant.
Fitz had walked back into the room as Liv reached for Grant in her dream. "Grant, no, Abby, no." She sat up. One thing that wasn't a dream, Grant was crying, loudly in his cradle. A constant cry and Fitz ran over to the cradle to get him.
"NO! PUT HIM DOWN. PUT HIM THE FUCK DOWN!" Fitz took a step back, with Grant in his arms, as Liv was about to jump out of the bed.
"Liv, OLIVIA, calm down, it's me, it's Fitz. CALM DOWN, OK. I have him, he's ok." He sat on the bed with Liv. He placed Grant in her arms. Liv just rubbed his head, his body, looking at him up and down.
"You're ok, caterpillar, aren't you? You're hungry right? Like the caterpillar, right?" Liv began breast feeding him.
"He starts to look for some food
On Monday he eats one apple, but he is still hungry"
Fitz chimed in. "On Tuesday he eats two pears, but he is still hungry."
Liv's eyes connected with Fitz's. She gave a small smile. "He's ok," she whispered.
"Yeah, he's ok." Fitz whispered back, rubbing his head. Grant was slowly drifting back into sleep. Fitz put some hair behind Liv's ear and caressed her cheek. "And you?"
She nodded. "I'll be alright. He's going to need a change too."
Grant had stopped feeding, and Fitz took him. "I'll change him, go throw some water on your face. Calm yourself a bit ok."
Liv reached over and hugged him. "Thank you."
His heart was pounding out of his chest. He had never been more nervous in his life. He grabbed a diaper, he began changing Grant, and the little fellow didn't budge from his sleep. Fitz held him out in his arms, the back of his head cradled in his big hands.
"You and me big guy, we're going to take care of mommy, and we are going to get these bad guys, right. Your daddy is done playing these games." He put a kiss on his little cheek. "I love you, let me go get your mommy." He placed Grant back in the cradle and tapped on the bathroom door.
Liv opened the door and didn't even look at Fitz. She just wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his chest. He walked with her to the bed. Before he got in with her, he stripped to his boxers. Liv had put on a sports bra after having pumped a bit in the bathroom.
He checked his phone before getting into the bed. "All set boss, just give the go."
"Go" he texted back, setting Tom in motion.
Tom had the Putney boat that Lewis was hiding on in his sights. The two goons with him had just left the boat, headed to the bar not to far away. Tom called Fitz's inside guy, and they wouldn't be a problem any longer.
Tom grabbed Chip up by the collar. The weasel was still unconscious, with a bit of help from Tom and the needle he used on him. He had to have him wake up at the right time, and now wasn't the right time. Tom watched as Lewis stepped off the boat and lit a cigarette. "Perfect" Tom whispered.
He placed Chip back in the suitcase and rushed over to the boat. He was able to get down below before Lewis had taken his third puff of the cancer stick. Tom shook his head. "Those things will kill you, he whispered. "Funny thing, so will I." He put Chip down lying on the floor and kicked the suitcase away. He gave Chip a few smacks to begin waking him up.
Lewis came back on to the boat. He went up to the main room, and Tom followed. At the top step, Lewis felt a chill up his neck, goosebumps, something was wrong. He turned around, right into Tom's fist. "Nice to meet you, Lewis James."
Lewis fell back into the room, Tom wasn't ready for him to fall down the stairs, yet. He got up and took a swing at Tom, which Tom easily backed from, and Tom threw a kick to his groin. Lewis fell, keeling over, gasping for air. "What. Do. You. Want?" His words coming out in between breaths.
"Nothing at all, it's what you want, Lewis. Do you want to die, knowing it, or do you want to be knocked out when it happens, so you feel nothing?"
"I. Have. Money. A lot."
"Good, but where you're going, money is no good. Where's the bomb? Maybe then I'll spare you."
"What bomb?" His breath was slowly coming back. "I don't know anything about."
Tom kicked him, right in the stomach. It knocked the wind right out of him again. He began to point. He pointed to a compartment in the ceiling. Tom opened it. He looked at the device. "This is petty shit; you could've done better."
Breathing now becoming hard, Lewis said, "Minimal damage, that's what I was told."
Tom shook his head. "Yep, minimal damage, got it." He watched as Lewis tried to stand. He was wobbly and Tom felt bad that this would be so easy. He went behind Lewis who was standing at the top of the stairs that led down to the deck where Chip was just waking up.
With a snap, and push, Lewis died instantly of a broken neck. His body went limp and rolled face down, landing right next to Chip who woke up in time to see Lewis's dead eyes staring at him. "What the fuck?" Chip screamed.
Chip was already bruised and battered. Huck had done a number on him. He must have had a bit of adrenaline because he jumped at the sight. He held his stomach, lifted his shirt and saw the purple bruise the bat had left. He cringed in pain and felt his cheekbone. It wasn't broken, but he could feel the soreness. He looked around to try to figure out where the hell he was.
He saw Tom come into view. "Who the fuck are you?"
"Wouldn't you like to know? You woke up just in time."
"In time for what?"
"Oh, you'll see."
Liv faced Fitz. "Tell me about it."
"No." Liv shook her head. "I don't want to talk about the dream."
"Ok, want to talk about Abby?"
Liv looked at him. "I miss her so much Fitz."
"I know you do. You said Chip beat her, then you attacked him right, that put this whole vendetta into motion."
Liv shook her head again. "Yeah, I shouldn't have attacked him with that bat. I caused it all, I caused her death."
"Stop blaming yourself. Putney isn't…."
"Will you stop, please. Putney is…he's everything you don't know. He's in the shadows, he has his father, he has career criminals. Stop saying you can protect me from him, because…." She stopped. "The way he beat her Fitz, that first time, he.."
"Tell me Liv, you'll feel better if you talk about it."
"When Abby finally recovered, she told me everything, every detail. After she described it, I didn't feel too bad about what I did to him. God, I wanted that boy to suffer. I didn't do enough though."
"What did he do to her?"
"He knows now I have Grant. He knows, and he'll stop at nothing….Fitz, I'm scared, for Grant."
"I know you are. We'll take care of it, I promise. There isn't anything I won't do for the two of you."
Liv nodded and began to talk. He began to listen, and just like she told him about her life back in May, he listened, and this is exactly what she needed.
"First, he walked up to Abby, coming home drunk one night. She thought he was going to kiss her, but he punched her, up and hard on her right cheekbone."
As Olivia was telling this to Fitz, Tom walked up to Chip. Chip thought Tom was going to help him up the stairs, instead, he punched Chip up and hard on his right cheekbone.
"Abby didn't fall though, she stumbled, but she didn't fall. Abby was one tough badass. Seeing it didn't knock her down, he up kicked her on her left side, cracking two ribs."
Tom watched as Chip stumbled but didn't fall. This sucker wanted more, and Tom was willing to give it to him. He up kicked him on his left side, and he heard something crack, possibly some ribs.
"Abby fell to her knees, pleading with him to stop, but he wouldn't. You ruined my life, he said to her, I'm going to ruin yours. He punched her again, this time hard on her left cheekbone." Liv took a deep breath, and Fitz pulled her close to him.
Tom saw Chip fall to his knees. Chip began pleading with him to stop, but Tom wasn't going to. Fitz told him to make Chip suffer, Tom had to do as his boss said. He punched Chip again, this time hard on his left cheekbone.
"Let me finish, Fitz."
"Ok." He began to gently rub her back.
"Abby finally fell, she wasn't totally knocked out, and that wasn't making Chip satisfied. Lying on her stomach, not able to move much, his foot came down on her back, knocking the wind out of her, and she finally went unconscious. That's how I found her twenty minutes later. She was a bloody mess, her chest, back, and stomach, bruised for months." Liv stopped. "He needs to suffer, Fitz, I won't rest until he is suffering, until he's not free any longer."
"I know Livvie, but you really need to get rest, to relax your body. You're no good to Grant if you are exhausted." He wiped away the tear that was about to fall.
Chip finally fell at Tom's feet. He was face down. Tom saw he wasn't completely out, and he needed him completely out. He took his foot, raised it high, and brought it down on his back. He heard a grunt come from Chip, and then no movement. Tom checked for a pulse, he still had one, as per his boss's orders, he was not to kill him.
Liv leaned forward, her forehead resting on Fitz's chest. She closed her eyes, and in the comfort of the man she loves, she was able to drift off into a peaceful sleep. Fitz was still rubbing her back, and he had the perfect view of Grant who was sleeping just as peaceful as his mother. Both in his view and both safe with him.
Fitz's phone buzzed. "All done Boss, final stage in the morning."
Fitz was able to close his eyes and fall asleep holding the woman he loves in his arms, protecting her for the time being from the demons that continue to haunt her dreams.
Liv woke up to a new day. The clock read 715 and she was surprised Grant slept this long. She looked at Fitz, sleeping and she rolled so she wouldn't wake him.
Liv looked in the cradle, Grant was awake, just looking up. He focused on Liv's face as she bent over. "Good morning handsome. Are you hungry? You're being such a good baby." Liv picked him up and brought him to the bed.
Fitz was still sleeping, and Liv figured it was better she didn't wake him up, as Grant began to feed. Liv looked down at him, feeding, so innocent, so precious. Liv used the back of her finger and began caressing his little head and face.
"Yeah, we're with your daddy now. You see how much your daddy loves you? We'll be safe for a while." She kissed him, as he continued getting his fill.
Fitz had opened his eyes. Liv was looking down at their son. It was a sight he wanted to wake up to for the rest of his life. He didn't move, yet he stared at her, lovingly, just as she was looking at Grant.
"Are you sleepy?" Liv asked Grant. "You're going back to sleep, aren't you?" She looked up and saw Fitz looking at her.
"Hi, good morning." He said with a huge smile.
"Hi, good morning daddy." She said back.
"Mm, I like that." He leaned in and kissed her. "You slept well; you didn't move."
"Yeah, I feel it. Let me put him back in the cradle. He's had enough." Fitz kissed his small head and Liv returned to the bed.
"I want to wake up every morning next to you, next to you and all my kids." Fitz said reaching for her and pulling her on top of him.
"Oh, all your kids, and how many kids are you planning to wake up next to?"
"Maybe five, six if I'm lucky." He pulled her down for a kiss, that Liv held on to.
She disconnected and kissed down his neck, down on his chest, bit his nipple, and heard him moan. His hands resting on her back, as she continued down, kissing his solid abs. She stopped at the entrance of is boxers. "What do we have here, Governor?"
He smiled. "It's all for you."
"Hmm", she said. "Well, let me enjoy my gift." She pulled his boxers down, and took the tip of his erection, circular motions around it with her tongue.
"Oh, God, Liv." Fitz tilted his head back, his hands, just at his side.
She engulfed him in her mouth, soothing the organ with her warm saliva and could feel it growing as she took it all in, using her fingers to caress his balls.
Liv maneuvered herself so she was in front, able to look up at how weak she was making him. He reached for her head, but she stopped his hand, and held it to the side. Her tongue guided her back up to the tip, and Fitz's body arched for a moment.
"Livvie, God, woman, you're making me crazy." He tightened his lips and licked them for some moisture. He reached over to the nightstand and grabbed a condom. While she still had him fully engulfed, he opened the packet, and pulled her up. He placed a hard, desire filled kiss on her lips, while rolling the condom on.
Placing both hands on her hips, he guided her down, and felt himself easily slip inside her. She pulled her sports bra off, and he gently caressed her beautiful breasts, as her head was arched high and she was moaning, breathing heavily.
"Fitz." She was riding him, not slowing down, her hands on his chest, and he just kept guiding her hips, looking at her. He could tell it wouldn't be much longer.
He pulled her down, engulfing his mouth on hers, and she had to open her mouth to breathe.
Fitz grinded his teeth. "I will always take care of you, Livvie." His mouth opened, and he groaned. Pumping harder into her. "Always." He wrapped his arms tightly around her, and he felt her body go weak. The orgasm hit her, as she fell into the crook of his neck.
His arms still wrapped tightly around her he continued his thrusts, until he felt himself fill the condom. Liv stayed buried in his neck as he continued to hug her. "I love you Livvie, never forget that."
She picked her head up, looking at him in the eyes. She shook her head, in disbelief, as if something so good could happen to her. "I love you too," she whispered. They lay for a few moments, just breathing each other in.
"Let's get ready. We need to watch Marshall on the waterfront. Want to bring Grant down by Vivian? We can all watch it together. Oh and what would you say if I invited Vivian for the week at the ranch?"
Liv put her head down, she kissed his chest. "I don't know, I kind of want it to be you, me and Grant, is that wrong? I mean I'll call Vivian, see if she needs anything, but right now I want to be selfish with the time we have with you." Liv looked at him.
Fitz nodded. He rubbed her cheek. "OK". He was hoping with his plan in the works, he could make it more than one week, he could make it a lifetime.
"I'm going to shower, then call Huck to see what's going on with Chip. I'll be out and yeah, let's give Vivian that visit."
Fitz sent a text to Tom after getting dressed. Grant began to stir in his cradle, and Fitz took out a diaper and another outfit. "Today is a good day Grant, a very good day for your daddy. Today we begin to get your freedom back, you and mommy. Come here big guy." He put Grant down on the bed.
He leaned over him, staring at his big blue eyes trying to focus. "Hi" Fitz smiled. "Hi big guy, hello." Grant continued to blink and focus on his father's blue eyes. "Yeah, I love you, I do, I love you." He kissed his cheek and began to change and dress him.
Dressed in the onesie "Mommy's Little Dude" Fitz picked Grant up and walked to the window. His phone buzzed. "All set boss, on my way back."
Vivian looked fifty percent better than she did yesterday. The swelling had gone down some, and the bruising had faded just a bit. When Liv handed Grant to her, she told him to thank her for being safe.
"Oh, nonsense." Vivian said. "I'm just glad you were safe with your mommy and daddy last night." She looked up at Fitz. "Can't argue that he's yours, he's your clone."
Fitz smiled. "I know. Olivia did excellent bringing him in to this world."
"Hey Governor, what happened to your Barbie wife? Rumors all over, but I'd love to know."
Fitz shrugged. "After that weekend, I found the woman I truly loved. Mellie could feel that, I wasn't hiding it. She never knew directly about Olivia, but she knew it was done, I wasn't being forced into marriage. Your words had something to do with that too. Last I heard, she is going to try her luck at a Senate seat in North Carolina. I'll support her, but that's it."
"Good call. No one likes fake marriages anyway. Can't wait until you introduce Liv and this bundle to the public."
"Little by little, let's deal with Chip first." Fitz clicked on the television. Grant was asleep in Vivian's arms, and Liv was sitting next to Fitz, his arm around her.
Linda Marshall was on the LA Waterfront, dozens of boats as the backdrop. By the looks of it, there were hundreds of people gathered. The camera had shots of Linda shaking hands, talking to homeowners, and touring some boats. After about ten minutes of coverage, the Lt. Governor took the podium.
"I'd first like to thank Governor Grant for giving me the opportunity to speak to my hometown crowd. Growing up here on the waterfront and being able to give back to the community has always been something that made me very proud. I am honored to work with a Governor that understands that sense of giveback and working with communities."
"Looking around, you see boats, water, beachfronts, and beautiful homes. What you don't see everyday are the people, the glue of the community that keeps a place like this a beautiful place to call home. Today, we are here to thank you, to thank the property owners for taking care of the waterfront and for helping it grow strong in a rough economy."
"Today, Governor Grant and I in conjunction with the waterfront owners are promising 2.5 million dollars to the homeowners that have had to rebuild in storms and structural decay. Hopefully this can bring some much needed relief to the homeowners."
With the sound of cheers and whistles, a big check was displayed and ten people were by Linda's side to accept it. Posing for the camera and all smiles, Liv turned to Fitz. "That was nice of you to let her do this. It must be special for her to do this where she grew up."
"She suggested it, I just ok'd it. I got the detail ready and changed the schedule."
Suddenly there as a loud boom. Everyone on camera looked to the distance on the waterfront pointing to a boat.
"Viewers, there seems to have been an explosion on a boat in the distance. They are taking the Lt. Governor off in a car and an evacuation has gone into effect. We'll give more details as we learn them, but there is a boat on fire, not too far down from where the Lt. Governor was speaking."
Fitz's phone began to buzz, two of his service detail came into the room, and he looked at Liv. "I'll be back."
"Yeah, go, of course." Liv turned to Vivian. She took Grant from her. Clearly Liv was spooked, a look of worry on her face. Was Fitz supposed to be the target? Perhaps whomever did this didn't know Fitz wasn't speaking?
"Liv, don't worry, I am sure it's nothing." Vivian tried to calm her.
Fitz came in. "Seems to have been something on a boat. Homeland security is investigating. They have a person of interest in custody for questioning. Vivian, I am sorry, we have to go."
"I'll call you later Vivian."
As they exited the room, Liv saw Davis and Huck standing in the hallway. She looked at them. "Wait if both of you are here, who is watching Chip?" She turned to Fitz. "What's going on?"
Fitz pulled Olivia to him, kissing Grant on the head. "Come on. We need to talk, Olivia."
