Chapter 39
"Governor Grant Negotiating a Fiscal Budget for 2025 Without Major Cuts"
"Speaker Daniels Blasts Grant for his Budget, Funds for Migrants"
"Grant for the People: Heads Bill to cut costs of Inhalers."
"Federal Republicans Opposition to Pharmaceutical Cost Cuts in California."
"California's First Lady Cuts Ribbon for Brand New Whelan Women's Shelter in Sacramento."
The Grants were certainly keeping busy in California and beginning to take the state by storm. Despite heavy arguments with Republicans and Democrats at the State and Federal levels, Governor Fitzgerald Grant was proving to the be the leader he was meant to be.
His father continued to stall on the Bill in Congress for more gun control in the state and nation, the bill spearheaded by his own son, he refused to put it up for a vote.
Fitz continued his hard work in the state, and it paid the price with less time with Liv and Grant.
Four weeks had gone by since Huck returned safely. After two weeks of bed rest and frustration, Huck was able to get out of bed. Physical therapy for use of his leg and hand was being given at the Ranch house in Santa Barbara.
As much as MiMi and Erin spoiled Grant, Huck was getting the same amount. Grant and Huck have become the best of friends, and it moved Huck's recovery along nicely. Grant loved being in the therapy room, thinking some of the gadgets were toys.
A bubbling eight month old now, the soon to be big brother was smiling more, eating more, and sleeping through the night. He loved to pick up a book and look at it. He even loved it more if he was being cuddled and the words from the book came to life from whomever was holding him at the time.
Liv was on facetime with Fitz this evening, and the distance was hurting Fitz now more than it usually did. "Hey, Mister, only another week, we can do this. You're campaigning. We have big elections coming up." Liv smiled.
"Yeah, you hear about the petition. The Republicans in California, my own party have a petition. We don't think they will get the required amount of signatures, but apparently they want me recalled. I know exactly who is behind this."
"Your father?" Liv just shook her head.
"My father and Demp. I don't think Daniels is so quick to jump on it because his position is temporary. He isn't beholden to me though. In their eyes I'm caring too much for the homeless and taxing the rich excessively in this state." Fitz shrugged. "How is our boy?"
"He's good. Liv looked over at him in the play area. He just began, yesterday, to crawl. If you wanted to call it a crawl, it was more of a knee hop and it was adorable. Liv didn't want Fitz to know what he was missing. She scooped him out of the play area, and he squealed with a giggle.
"Look," Liv pointed at the screen. "You see daddy?" Liv bounced him on her leg. Grant leaned in and pointed. Once his eyes focused he smiled, and Fitz's heart melted right there.
"Hey Grant, daddy misses you." He was waving and smiling at his son.
"Daaaa" Grant's arms went out to him, and Fitz wished with all his heart he could grab him and hug him.
"Daddy will see you soon. I love you." It just put more of a pain in his heart. Liv wasn't aware that tomorrow would be 25 years since Emma died. He missed his mother everyday and it was worse with the man his father had turned to be. It would've broken Emma's heart to see Big Gerry like this.
Liv placed him back down. "I hear someone has a very special event coming up. I'm going to see sexy pics of my guy right. The paparazzi is all over this."
"I do, but I noticed someone else with the cameras today." Fitz smiled. "The foster kids loved it all. It's good how you focused on the real needs of the kids."
Olivia had some cameras of her own at the event she was at. As per her request, no special decorations were to be displayed at the foster shelter. She wanted the media to see just how underfunded these places were.
The First Lady of California visiting the places shouldn't immediately bring out funds for balloons and banners, that wasn't needed. What was needed was a secure, decent place for the parentless children to live in.
The cameras followed Olivia as she sat and spoke with as many children as possible. Some were as young as three that she held in her lap and played with. Connecting with the teenage girls living there, Liv spoke at length with them, assuring them it will get better.
After her second shelter visit, Liv stood at a podium set up. She demanded the legislature put the funds to use and help with the renovations needed to make these places a better living environment for the students.
Olivia went as far as proposing a grant that would follow the children that leave at 18 and make sure they are able to establish and maintain a life out of the shelter. "Too many of these foster children wind up in prison, or worse, dead. The state has an obligation to take care of them and make them feel once they leave the shelter they are worthy enough to succeed."
"Yeah, it was good, but back to the event. I hear my man is going to be black tie. I have to see your sexiness on television?:
"You can take a ride here, and we can be together." Fitz pleaded.
"Fitz, let me call you back," Liv suddenly felt an urge to vomit, a stomach bug caught by the children around the shelter, she was sure of it.
"Livvie, are you…." The call ended and Fitz immediately called MiMi. "Is everything ok with Olivia?"
"She came back from that event, stomach bug. She's been vomiting off and on all day. With you being in Fresno, she didn't want to worry you. How are you doing? I know the anniversary is tomorrow."
"Yeah, then I have Julian's fundraiser." Fitz shook his head. "I just want to be with Olivia and Grant, the family to be honest." Fitz took a deep breath.
"You're traveling too much Fitz. You need to take the family and stay in the duplex for a few months."
"No can do Mimi, you know that. Especially with the election coming up. My father is being a usual douche with his games in DC. I have to face him at the event."
"You sound like what you need is a long getaway. Liv is out of the bathroom, she should be calling you back."
"Hey Mister, sorry about that. My stomach has been off since I ate some food at the shelter. I'm better now. Think it's out of my system. So, about the fundraiser."
"Total chaos if you ask me. It's for mayor, not for president, but Julian goes all out doesn't he?"
"He sure does. Is it true who he has headlining it?"
Fitz shook his head. "Yes it is. She is from Fresno, born and raised and she is a childhood friend of Julian's. She's putting on a free concert and only invited guests can attend. Black tie only. Pure elegance for the one and only." Fitz took a deep breath. "I'd do anything to undress you after the event." Fitz hinted. He'd to anything to have Olivia there, but she's in Santa Barbara and he's in Fresno. Grant needs her there.
"I wish I could. Vivian scheduled some interviews and I'm booked for two days."
"You're doing amazing. The talk in Sacramento is how more women feel comfortable going to the Whelan shelter. Feels like home they say." Fitz looked up at his visitor. "I have to go Livvie, I love you."
Liv rubbed the screen. "I love you too, Mister." She closed her eyes and stared at the blank screen still hearing his voice even though he ended the call. Something was off with him; she could see it in his eyes. Taking a deep breath, she saw Grant hop crawling to the doorway and stopping at some big feet blocking him.
"Huck, you need your rest." Liv saw Huck scoop Grant with one hand and lift him to his shoulder. In his still wrapped hand, he had papers.
"This is the venue for the interviews you're doing tomorrow." He pointed to a list of names. "They are the only ones permitted in the building when you are there. ID's are to be checked and I already have a face recognition hacked into their operating camera systems." He bounced Grant. "Right, buddy, no one is going to hurt momma again."
"Maaaa" Grant pointed. He gave a clap when Huck sat him down in his play area. Grant immediately picked up his book and looked at the pictures. Huck sat next to Liv on the couch. "How long until Fitz comes home?"
"He'll be back in a week. He has a big event coming up in Fresno, super black tie, Alexa is giving a free concert."
"No way, Alexa? She's top billboard everywhere. I thought she was in the middle of a world tour."
Liv nodded. "That's her, and she is, but she's halting it for this event and it's super secure and black tie, and my husband will be there while I'm missing him here."
"Then go." Huck and Liv both looked up as MiMi entered the room. "He'd love to have you there. Besides, you know his father will be there and I wouldn't doubt he brings Tracy with him."
"Wait what? You think so?" Liv had another run in with Tracy, but not in front of any crowd or cameras. No doubt Gerry was pulling her strings but Liv wouldn't go for it.
Before entering the foster shelter yesterday, they nearly bumped into each other as Tracy was leaving. Tracy stopped and squinted at Liv. "Something I can do for you Ms. MacMillan?" Liv just looked at her.
"Remember, I'm looking, and I'll find it. You did something, besides that little boy gold mine of Fitz's, you did something for him to succumb to you. Just watch yourself." Tracy walked away.
MiMi was cleaning up some of Grant's toys. She paused and looked at Liv. "Tomorrow is the 17th right." MiMi thought for a second, "yes the 17th. Fitz is going to be down; he could use your company. I'm sure he may have told you, but dates leave our memory. It will be the 25th anniversary of his mom's passing."
Liv's shoulders slumped. That's why he was off, feeling depressed. She looked over at Grant who had now lost interest in his book and was fascinated that the toy truck moved when he moved it. "He did mention when she died, but I didn't…" Liv just drifted off and looked at the venue list in her hand.
Huck pulled it out of her hand. "Call Vivian," he ripped up the pages. "Your schedule tomorrow is changing. You're postponing the interviews. You're surprising your husband and you'll be at the black tie event, on the carpet."
"I agree with Huck." Erin had entered the room. "You had no idea he was going to be at the ribbon cutting for the shelter. In fact the man just got finished down in San Diego and got up in time for you, all the way to Sacramento."
Huck grabbed Liv's computer. Typing rigorously on the keypad he looked up within a minute. "Big Gerry is on the list with a plus one."
Liv didn't hesitate to make that call. "Viv, I'll need the fanciest, sexiest, most elegant dress for tomorrow night. Have it delivered to" Liv looked at Huck and he had the exact location of where the Governor was staying. She was going to be with her guy, bright and early in the morning.
"He has a speaking engagement to the highway patrol committee about fixtures needed to the Interstate in Fresno. After that it's done until dinner time, which if you're there, he will cancel."
"Who is he supposed to have dinner with? If it's important…"
"Some donors to Julian's campaign, I'm sure Fitz can cancel."
"Then, with my Governor, I will be." Liv went over to Grant, and scooped him up. "I'll have him for the night." Liv picked him up and rushed to her room, feeling the need to vomit again. "Hopefully this goes away by morning."
Fitz looked at his visitor. "Please tell me this isn't the news I want to hear." Fitz shook his head. He looked around the room. It was a rented penthouse suite not far from the venue. He was sitting in a mock office so he could do his work. Now Toby stood in front of him, head of his security detail for tomorrow.
Toby shrugged. "Sorry, sir, but he just landed and will be in the penthouse suite of the Valor." He handed Fitz the list of guests for the venue for the event. It was the same list Huck just popped up on Liv's computer.
Julian went all out, and most of the guests were people Fitz had grown to dislike. Julian Velez was a Republican, after all, so the Republican big shots would be in attendance. With Alexa as the international superstar that she is, Fitz was surprised she hadn't changed his mind about his running party.
"I can assure you sir; our security is set, and the place scoped out. There shouldn't be any surprises."
"Oh, I'm sure my father has something up his sleeve, don't underestimate him." Fitz looked down at the papers. "I'm sitting at the head table with Julian and Alexa?" Fitz looked around the paper. "But my father isn't?"
"That's correct Sir, Senator Ditmas will be in for the event also, along with Demp and Daniels, there wasn't room, so we arranged him to sit there, with his plus one."
"Who is his plus one?" Fitz looked confused.
Toby cleared his throat. "We haven't established that yet, we're working on it, so far he's checked in alone and there doesn't seem to be anyone accompanying him."
Fitz nodded. "Don't let up, he's sneaky as fuck and keep him away from me, I don't want any pictures with him."
"Sir, that's not happening. We've already received calls about photo shoots of the two of you with Mr. Velez. He needs it to be elected mayor. Your endorsement alongside the former Governor, your father, well that's golden for him."
Fitz squeezed the top of his nose taking a breath of frustration. This was a political game, and he had to play it. He brought his hand down his face and rested it under his chin. He waved at Toby, "Fine, just make sure it's quick."
"And your speech?" Toby handed him another page.
Fitz completely forgot he told Julian he would speak on his behalf at the event. Not only would he have to praise Julian, he would be introducing Alexa to the stage. He looked at the words his team had put on the page.
Usually Fitz made his own speeches, but Toby must have realized he forgot, and reached out to his team. He looked over the words and they were simple and to the point. "This is fine, thank you." He stood and turned towards the window looking at the night lights from the buildings.
"Any thing else?" Fitz asked without turning around.
"No sir." Toby paused. "Can I do anything for you Sir?" He knew Fitz wasn't himself, something was on his mind.
With his hands in his pockets now, Fitz turned to his young friend. "No, you've done fine, Toby, tell Tom to take lead tonight and get some rest."
Before Toby left for the night he answered the knock on the door and took Fitz's attire for tomorrow. It was covered with a hanger hook popping out, and he handed it to Fitz. "Sir, your suit for the venue." Toby nodded and walked out.
He looked over at the covered suit now outside the closet of the bedroom. Walking slowly over to the bed, he longed for Olivia to be there. It was nights like these, he hated his job, despised being Governor. He looked over to his bed. After a quick shower, he was in bed, looking at his phone.
Sliding from picture of picture of Olivia, Grant, and the three of them, Fitz froze for a moment. He had forgotten the picture he had saved of his mother. She was dressed in a sequin dress, a gown, down to her ankles. He rubbed the picture because he remembers taking it.
Her beautiful brown hair, done perfectly for the night she had planned for his father. They were heading to Gerry's first campaign dinner, a fundraiser, much like the one he'll be at tomorrow.
"It was the first time I wore a tux." Fitz laughed at the picture, "and I told you I looked like Tacky the penguin." He remembered the Tacky books they would read together.
"You look like a handsome soon to be Governor's son, you certainly do not look like a penguin." His mother had said lovingly to him.
After he took the picture he remembered his next question. "Do you think I can be Governor?"
"If you want to, yes you can be whatever you want to be. You'll be the best thing that happened to this state." She kissed his forehead and rustled his hair to fix it up.
Fitz had found the picture when everything had happened with MiMi, and he took a picture of the picture to have on his phone. Before he put the phone on the nightstand, he texted Olivia.
"Good night, Livvie. I'm tired and going to sleep. I love you and give Grant a kiss for me." Setting the phone down, he turned to his right and fell asleep, something he didn't do much of these days.
Knowing Fitz would have eyes everywhere, Gerry tried to be one step ahead of him. When he called to reserve the penthouse, he put some extra cash for a favor to be done. A young brunette was going to be earlier than Gerry.
He needed her presence to be private, and so the Concierge let her up to the room by way of the employee entrance. Tracy MacMillan was already inside the suite before Gerry even landed in Fresno. No one was the wiser.
She dreaded having to see him again, but he held her life in his hands, and he played that against her. All she ever wanted was Fitz, and Gerry knew this. Tracy had loved Fitz even before Gerry set him up with Mellie.
It was supposed to be Tracy, the one that was set up to marry Fitz, but Tracy fucked up. Three weeks before her meeting with Gerry, she was drunk. She got behind the wheel of a car and managed to crash her car.
She had killed two people with the accident and Gerry came to the rescue of covering it up. He whisked her away from the scene but managed to get her the help she needed. Hoping it didn't screw things up between what would be of her and Fitz, she did all she could to make things right.
Her heart was shattered when Mellie came into the picture, and it broke into pieces when the news of Olivia Pope had hit the media circuits. Once Fitz didn't get married to Mellie, Tracy had hoped it was Gerry's doing and she would get him.
When Tracy heard nothing from Gerry, she finally got in touch with him by going to DC herself and meeting up with him. It was then she had begun her sexual relations with him, still hoping it would get her to be closer to Fitz.
After the Mayor's ball, Tracy realized all her dreams were shattered and she fell off the wagon. After the announcement from Fitz, Gerry came to her in the hotel room she had fallen into a drunken stupor in.
It had been the day after Jax Putney had died and Gerry was devastated. Before he set off to comfort his longtime friend, he wanted to check on Tracy to make sure the news didn't upset her.
He sobered her up and they both talked, making each other feel better, and once again she fell victim to sleeping with him. As much as Tracy hated it, it was the only way she could stay close to having Fitz one day, even if Fitz claimed his love for Olivia.
The day she was at the shelter, Gerry had convinced her to play the role of an abused woman, an act that Olivia Pope caught on to immediately and shut it down, in front of dozens of news cameras.
As much as Tracy didn't want to admit it, Olivia Pope was taking the state by storm and the people were falling in love with her, and the mini Fitz she was so lucky to have.
Then there was Dolores, that bitch of a protector from Fitz. Dolores, Fitz's MiMi made it clear at the Women's Coalition event that she was well aware of her sexual relationship with Gerry, and it would do no good. "You're whoring yourself for a ruthless man. Fitz will never leave Olivia, they are truly in love, and you had best stay away from him. If you know what's best for you at all, stop being Gerry's little whore too."
Those were the words MiMi said to her at that event, and it took every ounce of strength not to throw her glass across the room and run out screaming and crying. When she saw Fitz had shown up for Olivia, carrying his son in his arms, Tracy realized MiMi's words were true. She had lost Fitz forever for true love.
She had words with Olivia that day. The words meant nothing. She knew that she could see confidence in Olivia's eyes. The love Fitz had for her was evident. It didn't matter, Tracy was far too in love with Fitz, and would stop at nothing to get to him.
One more time just yesterday at the shelter, and Tracy took Gerry up on his offer. More than ever she wanted Olivia out of the picture, and painting Fitz has having sexual relations with her, will surely hurt his good guy image.
That's why she was sitting now in the suite waiting for Gerry. She took a long look in the mirror and remembered his phone call.
"Come with me to Julian Velez's fundraiser event. It's going to be exceptional, with paparazzi and an Alexa concert. I also know for a fact Fitz will be there, alone."
"Gerry, I'm not falling for that again, Fitz has no desire…"
"He will on that night. I know he will be depressed, lonely, and he probably will have plenty of scotch. All I need from you are pictures. With the amount of paparazzi there, you can manage a few seductive looking pictures."
"And exactly why will Fitz be lonely and drunk? Why wouldn't Olivia be there?"
"She has some very important interviews of her own and he'll be coming down from his depression of the 25th anniversary of his mother's death, he'll need someone." She couldn't see the smirk on Gerry's face declaring defeat already.
"Gerry, I've been embarrassed enough in all of this. I don't want to be a part of it anymore."
"Then, the cold case of the hit and run will be solved, and Tracy MacMillan will be arrested first thing in the morning."
Looking over at her red couture dress, she felt the tears swell up in her eyes. Just get close enough for a few seductive pictures. Then what? She took a deep breath. "You become a scandal, and the paparazzi pins you as a dirty little husband stealer." She said to herself.
Trying not to think of the event at all, she clicked on the television. As luck would have it, the first news story was that of the mayor's fundraiser. "Notable attendees other than the pop sensation Alexa will be Governor Grant, Senator Grant, key members of the California Legislature, and many other famous Fresno alum.
"Yes Dave, what's interesting the most, Lee Ann Taylor took over is California's first lady will not be there. She is down in Santa Barbara with prior engagements. We love to see our power political couple together, but that may have to wait."
The clip showed Olivia at the ribbon cutting for the Whelan Shelter and Tracy's shoulders slumped. They showed Fitz join her after the cutting and watched as the couple hugged one another, lovingly. Who was she kidding? This would be a disaster, and she wasn't going to do it, not by a long shot.
She began to drink heavily, taking the vodka bottle from the bar in the penthouse. Halfway through the bottle, she found scissors and cut her dress to shreds. Nearly finished with the bottle, she wrote a note to Fitz confessing everything, including the relations with his father. Just know, Governor, I will stop at nothing to get you and Olivia to pay for the pain you have caused me. Your father wants to destroy your relationship, well I will help him, only he won't know any of my plans. I am through being a whore to him and unnoticed by you. Keep looking over your shoulder because I will show up when you least expect it.
Folding the paper into a square, she put it securely into the middle pocket of her purse, a compartment not easy to find, and she passed out on couch. The alcohol had taken away the pain for the moment.
Fitz returned after his speaking engagement. Before entering the suite he turned to Toby and Tom, "no interruptions, what time is dinner?"
Knowing that Olivia was already inside, Toby looked at Tom. He looked back at Fitz. "Sir, the dinner has been cancelled you're free until tomorrow evening at the fundraiser."
Fitz closed his eyes as if his wishes were answered and he walked into the room. He took his phone in his hand and dialed Olivia's number. It went right to voicemail and he figured she was already at the interviews.
Before putting his phone down, he swiped over the picture of his mother one more time. His heart couldn't take the pain anymore and he began to feel tears enter his eyes. He was only successful because of her love for him.
Fitz's phone fell out of his hands when he heard her beautiful voice from the bed. "Hey Mister, you want to talk about it?"
Fitz had to blink twice to make sure he wasn't dreaming. "Livvie?"
She shook her head slowly. She watched as he took off his shirt, stripped down to his boxers and climbed into bed with her. Not even looking at her, He hugged her legs and buried his face into her stomach, just so grateful she was there with him.
Both of Liv's arms went down and caressed his back and she tilted her head to lean on the back of his. "I know, 25 years lost of time with your mom. I wasn't going to leave you alone."
She felt warm kisses go onto her stomach, and he stopped and looked up at her. She used her thumb to take away a tear about to fall. Cupping his face she gave him a gentle kiss. "How are you feeling? Anymore vomiting? Have you eaten? Do you need anything?"
"I'm fine." She wasn't really. She felt queasy but there was very little vomiting, she didn't want him to worry. "Right now, I just want to feel you, to comfort you."
His kisses went up and stopped between her breasts and his lips rested there while his hand went under her so her chest would arch towards him. "I missed you so much." His tongue made it's way up to her neck, lips onto her cheek, and he turned her head so that his tongue could get into her mouth in an earth shattering kiss.
Hearing her moan was comfort to him, and his cock was throbbing within seconds. He wouldn't let his lips go from hers, he needed to be connected with her as his hand slid down her smooth side and felt her juices, how wet she was for him.
This time he moaned, putting his head down on her chest, and he was so hot for her, he could feel his body heat come alive and his curls began to get wet with sweat.
He kneeled up momentarily, sliding his boxers down and then he took in all of her body. She looked luscious and it was all the emotions coming down in one big thrust. His happiness that she was there with him, his unhappiness that his mother was gone, his undying love for Olivia, it was just so much, and he felt the pull on his hair.
Her body arched up in painful pleasure, and using his hair as an anchor, she pulled him up to her lips, moaning into his mouth, as their tongues danced with one another. Fitz continued to slowly pump into his wife, feeling his dick get so wet from her juices.
He took her one leg, from the thigh, and lifted to wrap it around him, as he continued to pump deep into her, feeling her body grow weak, as her mouth opened, her eyes closed, and she came as beautifully as it sounded.
He reached under her back, lifted her body now so they were face to face. Her arms wrapped securely around him, and he lifted his hand to her hair, slightly pulling back and kissing her neck as his body lost control, and he came into his gorgeous wife.
Liv rested her head on his shoulder as he wrapped her in his arms and they sat like that fully embraced, taking each other in for a few minutes. "Feel better?" She kissed his cheek and got out of the bed.
Fitz rolled to his back, put his hand behind his head and watched as Liv walked towards the bathroom. She stopped suddenly, and her hand rested on the wall. She began to swallow hard, trying to hold the vomit until she could make it to the bathroom, but it was useless.
Fitz jumped out of the bed and held her shoulders, as he watched her. He grabbed a towel from the bathroom, and Liv rubbed her mouth. "Just water," she managed to say, and Fitz got her some ice cold water.
She sat on the edge of the bed now, Fitz had cleaned up the mess, causing Liv to feel miserable, but he had also called his friend, Dr. Leman. He was on his way to check on Liv.
"Fitz, I'm sure it's just food poisoning. I'm fine, really."
"Well, I'm not taking any chances. Besides I see the dress over there. I don't know what's under the covering, but I already can't wait to take it off you tomorrow."
"I'm supposed to be making you feel better." Liv smirked as the knock on the door came through.
"No fever, just vomiting and loss of appetite, I'm sure it's something I ate at the shelter."
Dr. Leman just nodded as he waited for the results of a urine and blood test. "The urine test will tell me if you are dehydrated as a result of the vomiting, the blood work will come within the hour to let me know if it's food poisoning."
He looked at the urine test, then back up at the Governor and his wife. "Mrs. Grant are you okay with the results being said?"
She looked at Fitz and back to Dr. Leman. "Yes, of course, is everything ok?"
"You're pregnant." He gave a grin and watched Fitz's face turn from pure worry to complete happiness.
"Judging by your symptoms, you may be 6-8 weeks along. I suggest you schedule an appointment with your ob/gyn." Dr. Leman looked at them, figured he was talking to himself and said "I'll see you at the venue tomorrow Governor." He left the two of them in a heartfelt embrace.
"It had to be when Huck went missing, when we both thought he was dead, the night of the explosion." Liv said as Fitz just held her close to him.
"Let me get us something to eat, and I just want to hold you for the remainder of the night. You've turned a day of sadness into happiness for me Liv." Fitz smiled.
"Well, I didn't do that on my own, and I'm sure the little one's grandma had a say in this." She winked at him as he ordered the food. She looked forward to spending the night in his arms, just in happiness from the news they had received.
"What the hell do you mean gone?" Gerry was yelling at his secret service guard, "you just let her leave?"
"She said she was going for a walk to get some food and didn't want to be bothered. I don't work for her, Senator, I have no obligation to protect your woman of the week." Alberto turned to walk away. "You may want to get a hold of her, she fucked up her dress, cut it to shreds."
Gerry walked into his room. Any evidence of Tracy being there was gone except for three things. One was the dress indeed shredded to nothing, the other a note left on the nightstand, and last an empty bottle of vodka. Gerry picked up the bottle and the note simultaneously. "She's drunk, drunk and unhinged." He pounded the nightstand. "Shit."
"Gerry, you've fucked me for the last time, I'll get Fitz my way, and Olivia will be out the picture soon enough. Enjoy your concert tomorrow, I know I will." Gerry turned to the table where the invites were. Sure enough there was one there, the other one, gone, and Tracy was nowhere to be found.
