Marinette's POV

I wake up to the sound of my father calling for me. Clearly, he had been calling for a while, because the next thing I knew, he was opening the hatch door to my room.

"Alright," I said, "I'm awake".

I got up and dressed, then left my room to eat breakfast and went down to the family bakery below our apartment. I always helped my father in the bakery and worked every day.

I grabbed an orange and a blueberry muffin, then I sat down at the kitchen table with my father. He turned on the television that was in the kitchen. There was only one channel, the Royal News.

"Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen," the news anchor, Nadia Chamack, said to the screen, "Good news to all young girls in town. Prince Adrien is looking for a bride. If you are one of the lucky people to be called, you will be taken to the castle and will have the opportunity to compete for the Prince's heart. Now, let's see who will be competing. On to you, King Gabriel Agreste." She handed the microphone to the king and he took it.

"Thank you, Nadia." The King said, turning toward the camera, "Now, as Nadia said, Adrien is looking for a wife, we will pull random names of young ladies that are of age, Adrien will spend time with each, and he will eventually choose one to be the new princess." He handed the microphone back to Nadia.

"Now, Adrien, come down and draw out the names of the lucky girls who will compete for your heart."

Adrien walks down from the seat he was sitting on at the back and walked up to the front of the stage to where a bowl of small papers was awaiting.

He pulls out the first paper and reads the name written on it. "Aurore Beauréal," and another paper, "Rose Lavillant," and another, "Chloé Bourgeois, Mireille Cadquet, Juleka Couffaine,"

When I heard Juleka's name, I was so excited for her that I squealed with joy, I had known her and her brother, Luka, since we were little. My dad had left the kitchen, but when he heard my squealing, he rushed back in, excited. "Were you chosen?" He asked.

"No," I replied, "even better, Juleka was!"

At that point, I had stopped playing attention to the list of names called, that I almost missed my name, right at the end. I had been chosen.

Author's Note: I am so sorry, I was quite busy with life, and I forgot about this story, but I am going to continue it, and work on it any chance I get. My plan is to try to get at least one chapter out every month or two, but preferably more. Again, thank you for your patience and for continuing your support of this story.
