Chapter 4: The rematch
St. Moritz, Switzerland, night.
Kars witnessed a car with drunk drivers driving at high speed towards a helpless dog, unaware of its existence. Had it not been for him using his powerful Pillar Man ability to severe the steering wheel and thereby making the car crash into a building and explode, the dog would've died an accidental death.
"Tch! The fact that I haven't received another message from Esidisi yet means that he must've been killed by the Hamon clan!" he lowly complained, lamenting his partner's death. The Pillar Man was angry at his fellow Pillar Man's death and wanted to get back at his murderers but kept his composure. He was about 102000 years old and slaughtered almost the entirety of his own kind after all, knowing how to deal with various losses.
"Wamuu is in Greece right now and won't break his warrior promise to fight the one called JoJo in 6 days to join me… Fine then, Hamon clan! Have it your way for now, those 6 days will be your last!" the ancient creature lowly whispered, eyes narrowed in his desire for revenge.
6 days until the rings melt.

JoJo and company left Venice to return to Rome. Joseph only had half a day left to live, he'd have to beat Wamuu in their rematch to save his lifespan.
As they parked their car, they were greeted by an unexpected group of people. "Why are Nazis here?" Messina wondered, scratching his head.
The Nazi commander stepped forward, grinning and laughing. "JoJo, we meet again! I came back from hell!" he introduced himself, taking off his cap and revealing his face. "How you like me now?"
He was Major Rudol von Stroheim, an old temporary ally of the Joestar. The right side of his face was clad with metal, his right eye was fake. The Nazi had undergone cyborgization.
"Stroheim?!" the young Joestar exclaimed in disbelief, feeling like seeing a ghost. "How the hell did you survive?!"
"German science is the best in the world~! Just as german medicine is the best in the world~!" Stroheim proudly proclaimed, saluting like a Nazi. "JoJo, I'll be watching your fight against the Pillar Men. We know about everything, we've been secretly watching you since my men were wiped out here."
"You know about… everything?" Lisa Lisa inquired, wary of the possibility that the Nazis know about the red stone.
"Everything! About the Hamon training, Esidisi and the red stone of Aja!" the Nazi confirmed, making the Hamon masters gulp. "Don't worry though, we are on your side. I also intend on making the Pillar Men pay for their actions."
'Can he really?' Mario doubted, the german didn't possess any Hamon.
Will got closer to his grandson's ear, whispering inside. "What do you think should we do about them, Caesar? Can we trust them?"
"I don't know." Caesar whispered back, shrugging. "JoJo seems to know him though, let's just wait and see."
Joseph rubbed his chin. "I'd advise you not to, these Pillar Men are really dangerous. You might die for real this time, with no coming back."
"Heheheheh!" the Nazi laughed, patting the Joestar's shoulder. "You're in for a surprise, JoJo! I'm much stronger than before!"
"Alright, let's just go inside!"
With that, the Nazi-Hamon alliance entered the coliseum, about to watch an intense fight between two muscular warriors.

Kars and Wamuu were waiting inside. They had an army of Vampires behind them.
"Long time no see, JoJo." Wamuu greeted with a stoic look, folding his arms. "It's time…"
"You're right it is." Joseph said, bearing a vigorous yet composed expression. "I'm kinda surprised you waited this long though, I've expected you to come after me after Esidisi's death."
"So you're the one who killed Master Esidisi." the Pillar Man figured, far less furious about it than Kars.
"That's right!" the Joestar stated, standing tall and proud. "What will you do about it? Will you kill me?"
"That's right." the ancient creature spoke, nodding. "I, Wamuu will avenge Master Esidisi by killing you after winning our rematch. How could I possibly break my promise as a warrior and come before you've finished your training?"
"Confident, eh?" the young Joestar took a dig, grinning. "I wouldn't be so sure about winning if I were you. I've gotten way stronger than I was last month."
"Your actions on the battlefield speak louder than your taunts. Come, JoJo! Let me see how much stronger you've gotten!"
"I'm ready!" Joseph spoke full of confidence, crackling his neck and knuckles. "Bring it on!"
"Wait!" Caesar had a question. "You two are going to fight, what are we others going to? Just watch?"
"Yes, that's how things will go. Master Kars and I have already spoken about it. JoJo and I are going to have our rematch with no outside interference. What happens next…" the warrior explained "depends on the outcome of our battle."
"Hehehe, interesting!" Stroheim smirked, unable to wait for the fight any longer. "Good luck, JoJo! You might be british but I'll be cheering for you to win!"
"Thanks, Stroheim!" the young Joestar appreciated the german's support. "I guess you Nazis aren't worse than Pillar Men!"
Regardless of the humans present agreeing with this statement, they were with Joseph Joestar, the hope of humanity.

Protagonist and antagonist of the fight stood around the center of the coliseum, a few meters apart. Both understood this duel was about life and death. No holding back.
"I suppose you'll be using your toys again." Wamuu guessed, himself deciding to fight only with his own body and mechanisms of his accessories.
"I am." Joseph said, pulling out his clackers from his pocket. "Let's just get on with it!"
Joseph channeled bright yellow Hamon into his clackers, spinning them around. His opponent made use of his special Pillar Man physique again, dodging the metal balls with humanly impossible poses.
"Your Hamon has gotten powerful, frighteningly powerful!" the Pillar Man praised, noting the intensity of the human's Hamon. He felt that it was far stronger than last time through his senses. "But you aren't going to defeat me like this, your little steel balls can't reach me like that."
"Oh really? I can do something about it then!" the Joestar found a solution to this problem, dislocating his arm joints. His arms suddenly became longer, causing his clackers to hit the ancient creature by surprise.
The clackers struck the right side of the warrior's head, where he was injured by them on their last encounter. That injury had long regenerated but was inflicted again, this time even more severely. The new gash was wider, longer, deeper and more painful.
This display of power shocked the audience. Will remembered fond memories of Jonathan and his Zoom Punch. 'JoJo is resembling you more and more…'
Lisa Lisa smiled at her student's progress.
Kars was in disbelief, his fellow Pillar Man got injured on-guard. 'This has to be a fluke! Wamuu, don't fucking lose!'
"Tch!" Wamuu spat, frowning. "You almost grazed my skull there… Not bad, but I won't allow this to happen a second time!"
"Yeow!" the young Joestar let out in pain, fitting his dislocated joints back together. "Man, I wish this wouldn't hurt that much everytime I do this…"
Wamuu used the slight opening Joseph left while complaining to try to deliver a punch. The Joestar barely dodged, but was hit in the face by the whips coming from the Pillar Man's headgear. "Ouch! Dang it!"
"Attention, attention!" the ancient creature snapped at the human in a lecturing tone. "You might've learned a few new tricks, but you're still careless as ever! How did you even manage to defeat Master Esidisi?"
"That's what I'm wondering too…" the other Pillar Man lowly hissed from the stands, pissed off that his partner was supposedly killed by this immature young human.
"Don't underestimate my student." Lisa Lisa told with a neutral expression, her eyes hidden by sunglasses. "JoJo's fighting style, despite its uniqueness, is the style of a winner."
Kars couldn't help but grimace. He really wanted to kill that Joestar.
"Hmph! Just you wait! I'll make sure to get a hit on you in a moment of carelessness as well!" the young Joestar claimed, gently wiping away a smear of blood on his face.
"I'd like to see you try!" the warrior challenged, bolstering his fighting stance.
"Here goes!" Joseph threw his clackers at Wamuu again, who easily dodged the projectile. "Clacker Boomerang!"
As the name suggested the steel balls were supposed to return in a curved trajectory. Those clackers had the potential to strike Wamuu's head. But the Pillar Man wasn't stupid.
"Seriously, JoJo?!" the ancient creature yelled in disappointment, bearing a furious expression. "Do you take me, Wamuu as a fool?! I shall get rid of your arrogance by crushing those stupid toys of yours!"
Focusing with one eye on the Joestar, with the other on the clackers, the warrior prepared to use his special move. "Fighting Technique: Divine Sandstorm!"
The wind created from the destructive vacuum between Wamuu's hands crushed the metal balls into thousands of little pieces. As a weapon they served no longer any purpose. As a distraction however, the clackers served their purpose perfectly. They were a worthy sacrifice.
Everyone in the audience, everybody bar none stared at what happened in disbelief, mouths agape and eyes bulging out. Their following reactions varied from near euphoria to murderous anger.
"Wonderful, JoJo! You're winning!" Caesar cheered with excitement, clenching his fists in the air.
"I believe this is about to be over." Mario remarked in a calmer way than his son.
"This is good, so good!" Stroheim chimed in, smirking like a madman. "JoJo, you never fail to amaze me!"
"Told you." Lisa Lisa spoke to Kars, sounding calm and unshaken, which made the long-haired Pillar Man even more furious.
"WAMUU! GO ALL OUT RIGHT NOW! FINISH HIM WHILE THIS INSTANTLY!" the senior Pillar Man roared, genuinely scared about the outcome of this rematch. What the young Joestar did seriously upped his chance of victory.
"My… legs…" Wamuu groaned wide-eyed, breathing and sweating heavily. His lower legs were obliterated. Earlier, while the Pillar Man concentrated on both the human and his weapon, Joseph sent Hamon through the ground, melting the ancient creature's legs. A technique similar to that of his grandfather.
"Wamuu, it's the combination of my strategic thinking and my powerful Hamon that enabled me to defeat Esidisi." the young Joestar told, locking his eyes onto his literally fallen opponent. "War and strategy have changed in the last two milleniums, my familiarity with modern fighting will be your downfall!"
This little speech prompted the warrior to smirk, blood flowing down those lips. "Heh, you might be right about that…" Wamuu admitted. "But… can strategy alone can defeat us, a higher race, that easily? No, JoJo, in the end we're simply too strong to lose to humans, that won't change in another 2000 years…"
Joseph watched in shock as the Pillar Man charged another wind attack with his undamaged arms. "JoJo, I must commend your wits. They truly are something else." the ancient creature complimented, his arms spinning faster and faster. "But can you escape my Divine Standstorm in this open arena?"
'You gotta be shitting me!' the Joestar thought with bulging eyes, immediately using his family's secret technique. His legs were fast but could only get him so far. A tornado is always faster than a human.
The warrior's wind perfectly hit the young Joestar's torso, propelling him into the air and drawing blood, lots of blood. Joseph was lifted 5 meters off the ground before painfully falling back on his torso.
"JOJO!" the youngest Zeppeli shouted, in great fear about his friend's possible death.
'This cannot…' the oldest Zeppeli thought, already in tears about the possibility of outliving his friend, his friend's son AND his friend's grandson.
"Don't die on me you tough bastard!" the german frantically exclaimed, tightly clenching his teeth. "Please, tell me you can get up!"
"JOSEPH!" Elizabeth Joestar screamed for the first time, trembling in terror. No longer could she suppress her emotions, this wasn't a teacher's concern but a parent's concern.
"Puhahahahaha!" Kars exploded in laughter, wildly clapping his hands. "A shame about what happened to Esidisi, but humans can only go so far!"
"That's right. You may have strategy, but you don't have this pure power of destruction we have." Wamuu stated, approaching his opponent's bleeding body.
'S-shit… If I bleed like that any longer… I won't survive the next 30 seconds…!' Joseph thought, thinking for a way out under the highest stress. His wounds were twice as severe as a month ago.
"Though I, Wamuu, respect you as a fellow warrior." the Pillar Man told, a neutral but approving expression on his face. "You really did keep your promise. If this were a month ago, my Sandstorm would've ripped your body into an unrecognizable mess…"
'Think, Joseph, think! What is my final trump card now, how can I still become the winner?!'
"Any last words?" the ancient creature asked, flipping a switch inside the Joestar's head.
'There's only one last attempt for me…! It's risky, but… no buts! I might as well gamble it all on this final attack!'
"I can still… defeat you…" the young Joestar barely uttered, forcing the warrior to raise a brow and smile with amusement. The human spoke so quietly, only his direct opponent could hear him.
"You still say things like that in this state of yours? Heh, JoJo, I suppose you wouldn't be you if you acted otherwise."
"Use… your Sandstorm… on me again…!" Joseph let out, his lips forming a confident smile.
"Come on now, are you that adamant on dying?" Wamuu protested, more serious. "What's the big idea?"
"If I overpower it… I can prove that I'll defeat you…" the Joestar explained. "If my final plan fails… you'll surely kill me…"
Scratching the back of his head, the Pillar Man was at a loss for words. "JoJo, you've got guts until the end!" the ancient creature remarked, truly in awe at the human. "Very well, I shall use my special attack on the greatest warrior I've ever fought. Fighting Technique: Divine Sandstorm!"
Back on the stands, the audience seemed to have lost all hope. The almost mortally wounded Hamon user had absolutely no way to deflect the Pillar Man warrior's tornado, and was in no shape to dodge it. From an outside perspective, things appeared extremely grim.
"JOJO!"
"JOJO!"
"JOJO!"
"JOJO!"
"JOSEPH!"
"Kill him, Wamuu! Avenge your pride and fallen master!"
Wamuu's left arm spun clockwise, his right arm counterclockwise. Destructive gusts of wind shot out from the vacuum between them, heading toward the thoroughly bloodied young Joestar, who would use his final attempt against it.
"Blood Red Overdrive!"
Joseph used his own blood for the attack. With his Hamon he gathered all his blood that already gushed out onto the arena ground and formed his own wet tornado, letting it clash with his opponent's dry one.
No one expected this, absolutely no one. Everyone present widened their eyes and dropped their jaw, feeling extremely stupid about doubting the Joestar before actually dying.
"That crazy son of a bitch! To use his own blood…" the Nazi yelled in awe, making a certain woman's eyes twitch.
"That is extremely dangerous!" Mario wanted to reprimand him, but was also proud of his strength. "But it works!"
"Yeeeeeeeeeeeees, JoJo, wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin!" Caesar cheered at the top of his lungs, shedding tears of gratitude. "And don't forget, surviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!"
"Joseph…"
"Wamuu! Hurry up! You can't lose!" Kars shouted out of insecurity, not wanting to see him lose. His worst nightmare was unfolding before his eyes, Pillar Men facing defeat by the hands of humanity. He clawed his shivering fingers, close to losing his cool.
"Unbelievable!" Wamuu was flabbergasted. "A final attempt at victory is one thing, but do you realize that this final attack of yours may kill you even if you manage to overpower my Divine Sandstorm?"
"This is a risk I've taken… I'm well aware that I might bite the dust…" the Joestar said, having difficulty speaking and fighting together in his state. "But there's a chance I will survive, and I believe in it!"
"You aren't giving up, that's excellent. But I won't go easy on you just because!" The Pillar man increased the rotation speed of his arms, making his tornados larger and sharper. "Urraaaaaaaaaah!"
"Hnnnngaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!" the young Joestar roared, forced to inject more blood into his own tornado to let it overpower the ancient creature. It was a struggle, physically and mentally, though eventually, pouring just as much blood into the Overdrive tornado so that there was still enough blood in his body to survive, the human overpowered the stronger creature.
The mixture of blood and Hamon first ripped through the wind then the warrior's skin, causing the destructive reaction of Pillar Man flesh and Hamon. What remained of Wamuu was merely his head.
"JoJo, he did it!" the Zeppelis exclaimed triumphantly, embracing each other.
"First Santana, then Esidisi, now Wamuu! I wish our army had someone like him…" Stroheim indirectly praised, quietly admitting british Hamon warriors were superior to german ones.
'You did it. Joseph, I'm so proud of you.' Lisa Lisa thought, tearing up. 'Hopefully by tomorrow I can speak to you as family.'
Wamuu's master merely closed his eyes, preferring to say nothing. He raised this Pillar Man like a child, sincerely caring about him. With both his long time friend and adoptive son gone, there was nothing left in Kars' heart.
No longer needing to attack with his blood, Joseph sucked it back inside. Part of it to regain vitality by letting it flow back in his veins, part of it to close his wounds like putty. Controlling his blood with Hamon like this, the human's life was out of immediate danger. Though keeping up this method of self-nursing consumed a lot of stamina. It was as if the Joestar was still fighting.
"So it has finally come to an end, JoJo…" the Pillar Man weakly uttered, cracks appearing even on his face. "You have beaten me and saved your life…"
"I have…" the young Joestar stated, not knowing what exactly to feel.
"Then… finish me…" the ancient creature demanded, accepting death.
"I will…" Joseph picked up the warrior's head, holding it near his chest. Just like his grandfather and his own enemy. "But first, can we… talk a little?"
"…Talk?" Wamuu was confused. "About what?"
"There are things I want to say to you before you go." the Joestar told, a tired but gentle smile on his face. "You know, when warriors fight… it's like they understand each other. Wamuu, this may sound crazy, but in the end you're not that bad of a guy… You're just a warrior living up to your own code of honor. You don't have a hidden agenda."
"...Right, I am." the Pillar Man smiled back. "Immortality means nothing to me. All that matters is living up to my code."
Noticing that the cracks were getting larger, the young Joestar wanted to get his message over as quick as possible. "Wamuu, I don't know what you'll think of this, but… in your final moments, I see a friend in you."
"A… friend?" the ancient creature repeated, his eyes wettening. "Thank you, JoJo. You gave me my best fight and a honorable death… I don't mind being friends with a human, no, a fellow proud warrior. Human, Vampires, Pillar Men… In the end everyone can be a respectable warrior, you've opened my eyes."
"Speaking of humans, it's a shame you have to die right now… There are tons of entertaining and enjoyable things in the human world you should've seen. I would've shown you."
"You say that despite me putting a poisonous ring into you?" the warrior asked, seeing a gentleman in the human.
"Yeah… I'll be over that very soon, you know."
Meanwhile, Kars' army of vampires wasn't fond of the battle's conclusion at all. The entire horde rushed into the inner arena with the intent to kill the winner.
"What is this betrayal?! Stop, you trash!" As just a head, Wamuu got back up into the air by propelling himself with his hair, extending his horn and ripping through the nearly 100 vampires, effectively killing them. During that process his horn broke off.
"Wamuu!" Joseph called in concern, catching his new friend as he fell down.
"I, Wamuu, may be sworn to serve Master Kars… but I will not allow the vampires to harm you!" the Pillar Man explained, respectful until the end.
"JoJo…" the ancient creature continued, his vitality rapidly fading. "Before I fade away… Drink your antidote for me…"
The Joestar listened to his dying friend's request, plucking the antidote ring out of the warrior's lips, breaking it open and chugging down the liquid antidote. He then sprayed a little bit of his blood on top of the warrior's wounds. "I have hurt you by plucking that ring even though my Hamon already puts you in so much pain… Let me pay you back."
"JoJo… I have no regrets… from the bottom of my heart, I am grateful to have witnessed your growth." Wamuu spoke his final words. For literal enemies to the death, this was more saddening for the young Joestar than he could've expected. "Perhabs the reason I wandered through these 12000 years was just to have met you…"
Wamuu's head was starting to turn into dust. "So… goodbye… my friend… Jo… Jo…" the Pillar Man barely bade farewell, his smile still present as his mouth was the last piece of him to become one with the wind.
Joseph waited for the dust to fully disappear before giving the fallen warrior and his late friend a salute of respect, holding tears inside. He had the right to cry, though Wamuu wouldn't have wanted him to.
Even Kars wanted to cry, almost slamming his fist against a stone. All he had left of his adopted son, the second of his two only true comrades, were fond memories of the past.
'Kill… JoJo…'
Pheeeeeeeeeeeew, this chapter was tough to write! A completely original fight you have to write yourself, taking various factors and possibilities in account, and having to manage personalities to not make them OOC… experienced writers who've written original fights know the pain. Anyways, the hardest chapter to write until now is ready to be uploaded.
I hope you liked the interaction of Joseph and Wamuu in the end. I firmly believe that they would've become friends for that short amount of time if Wamuu hadn't been the one to kill Caesar.
If you feel like it, you may leave a review.
