Book Two

Spirits

Chapter XXIV

Old Friend.

Naruto and Korra after resting make their way back to Republic City. They hope to find out more about the old man that took their bending away as well as what his real goal is with them. Can they survive the streets with chi-blockers and Triads after them?

Republic City Dusk.

The two benders ran down the street before Korra spoke. "We need to knock some heads and get our bending back."

"I doubt that old guy is here after resting," Naruto replied before a group of chi-blockers dropped down and threw electric bolas at them.

The two dodged them before running to the group to start fighting. Naruto kicked one into a support beam for a deck that was built by a building before grabbing one around the neck and dropping down, slamming his head on the ground. Naruto kipped up as Korra threw a chi-blocker at him, having Naruto kick him in the head. "Let's go!"

They ran down the street and came up to a stream beside the road. "Wow! There are Sato-mobiles all over the place! Nice to see the city's on its way to recovery." Korra spoke before turning to the right.

As the two ran down the street, a mecha tank dropped down. "Oh, come on!" Naruto yelled out before Jinora appeared in a meditation pose before them.

"I think I figured out how to get your earthbending back. Earthbenders need to stay rooted, so if you stand your ground, it might help you to earth-bend again."

Naruto looked at his girlfriend before the two planted their feet as the tank ran to them. Just as it got close, the two yelled out, brought their hands up, and had a pillar of earth come up and sent the tank toppling into the water. A chi-blocker came out and swam to the other side of the river as they watched. They then ran down the street and came up to an earthbender, firebender, and waterbender Triad member.

Naruto ran to the water and slammed his foot down to have a pillar throw the man off balance before punching him. He was then grabbed from behind by the earthbender before wrapping his right arm around the man's head. The man created a pillar under each of Naruto's feet to throw him in the air. Only for Naruto to still hold on before falling slamming the man's head on the ground.

He got up to see Korra knocking the last man out before Jinora appeared beside them. "Korra, Naruto, I'm getting a feeling that whatever's bringing the Triads and the Chi-Blockers out is coming from the Spirit World."

"Yeah, I got that feeling too," Korra replied, hand on her hip. "When I came to, I saw something or someone."

"You need to get to the Southern Portal right away," Jinora explained as Korra nodded.

"I had a feeling that leaving the portals open would bite me in the butt." She said before whistling and having Naga run towards them.

They then got to the dock before a Chi-Blocker attacked. Naruto then pulled water from the bay and froze him from the neck down. "Who are you working for?!"

"Some old guy from the South Pole with lots of money I-I don't know his name! Please don't hurt me!" The man said before Naruto narrowed his eyes.

"What was he saying about a distraction?"

"He was rambling about some idea he had! Said he could steal your chi or something! Said order would arise from chaos, I don't know! I told you everything I know!"

"OK, thanks," Naruto said before Task Force trucks appeared.

"Guess we're heading to the South Pole to get some answers," Korra said before going to the yacht Naruto took from Varrick to use as a vessel for his force.

South Pole Docks.

The two stood at the bow and saw a group of Chi Blockers led by a Triad member before Jinora appeared. "Korra, Naruto, I think this is a good opportunity to get your firebending back. Focus your anger and use it to bring back your firebending."

"Well, that's easy for Korra." Naruto joked before being elbowed by his girlfriend.

They docked before jumping off and quickly started taking out the men and women in the group. After being ganged up on, fire came out of the hands of Naruto and Korra shooting up into the air and knocking the last of the group back. "If that old man's in the Spirit World, then we gotta go to the Spirit Portal," Korra said looking at the pillar of light. "And we can't afford to meditate. We also gotta get all of our bending back."

"'Bout damn time you showed up!"

Naruto jumped as a fox appeared beside him standing chest high. "Kurama? What the hell? Why are you here?"

Kurama scratched his neck before speaking. "Got tired of my siblings so I decided to help you out now."

"God help us." Naruto groaned at that.

They all ran down to the portal, only to see a cave beside the mountain before walking in. And had the old man appear behind them and created a spirit wall. "Ha-Ha-Ha! You've fallen into my trap!" He said as three Triad members dropped down and he disappeared.

Kurama grew slightly and tackled the men into the mountain before grinning. "Oh, so you aren't lazy?" Naruto deadpanned as Kurama glared over his shoulder.

"Fuck you!"

"You have a weird relationship with your spirits," Korra spoke as the wall disappeared. "(Sigh.) What is it about the South Pole that brings out the crazies?" She asked before Naga slid by the opening.

They then get on and ride Naga to the portal.

Later, after going through the forest, they came up to the portal to see the man walking in as dark spirits surrounded the portal. Suddenly, three chi-blockers dropped down as Jinora appeared again. "Korra, Naruto. Remember your airbending training with the spinning gates."

"You're right!" Korra spoke before the two started dodging bolas' that were thrown at them before Naruto spun shooting wind at the men from his feet.

They then easily took the group out before dark spirits surrounded them. "I can't beat these spirits without my spirit bending!" Korra panted out as Naruto grabbed her.

"In the portal then!" He ran in with Kurama and Naga running after.

Spirit World.

As they got in, they saw more dark spirits before Jinora appeared. "I think the old man must be controlling them. Listen to the spirits! Free them from his control!"

Korra calmed herself before cleansing the group and having them disappear. "Go in peace."

"We got the spirits, you get to that tree!" Kurama said seeing the other Bijū fight the spirits before running to join, growing to his large size.

The two then ran to the tree where they saw the old man standing. "Who are you?"

"I am known by many names... But you may call me Hundun, master of the Chaotic Attack. In my time I was a king."

"Huh, and now you're just a sad old man," Naruto said before getting in a stance.

"Yes, but one who still has many treasures in the real world," Hundun explained with a smile. "Treasure enough to buy an army… And thanks to you opening the portals. Now they can march right in!"

They looked to the portal to see men and tanks coming through. Only for the Bijū to attack, destroying the tanks and hitting the people back in. "Huh, guess you didn't plan on them, huh?" Naruto asked with a smirk before a large group of spirits attacked.

As they were overwhelmed, Jinora appeared. "Korra, Naruto. Remember: We are all one. There is no light or dark, good or evil, human or spirit. All are one." Everything then went black for the duo as they pushed the spirits back. "Let go… The division between you and your enemies is an illusion. All are one. There is no light, or dark, to fight another is to fight yourself… Let go."

The spirits started to disappear as well before Jinora did as well before Korra floated and her eyes glowed white. Having everything come back as Korra floated down and stared at Hundun. "Give it up Hundun… The Avatar is back!"

She then created a gold glow before making a very large fireball to destroy tanks that made their way to them. Followed by a pillar of air pushing spirits back before doing the same with water purifying the group. "You may have regained your Avatar powers, but our battle is far from over!" Hundun said as Korra floated over on-air before dropping.

Hundun then had large green energy cover him, having rocks float and having Korra go out of her state to look around as she and Naruto floated up as Hundun pulled several acres around them into the air. "You are wise, Avatar. But I am no fool either. When you injured me in a fight thousands of years ago, I was forced to meditate into the Spirit World seeking immortality."

"And after countless ages of searching, I discovered a technique that will make me whole again. A way to extract your chi from what the mystics call your dan tien."

Korra just glared at him. "Sorry, but I'm using my chi right now. Maybe you could just wait here a few thousand years more."

"Oh, I think not. My whole reason for living was so that I could exact my vengeance on you. And now that you are here I can achieve both of my goals at once. Attack!" He yelled out as more spirits attacked the duo. Naruto kept the group at bay before Korra purified them.

"It is over, Hundun. Crawl back into whatever spirit swamp you have been festering in for the last millennium and I won't be forced to destroy you." Korra yelled out as she pointed at the old man.

"Over? Hahaha. But Korra, you didn't have a chance to meet my brother yet. The one you wounded all those years ago!" He yelled out as his eyes became red.

Hundun took a stance before taking off his cloak to reveal another deformed man on his back with one glowing eye

"Whoa!"

"Now you will truly taste the Chaotic Attack." The brothers spoke at once and grew to be 10' tall.

"KURAMA!"

Naruto yelled out having the fox jump over onto the man before looking at Korra. "Now!"

She went into her Avatar State and had gold energy surrounding the brothers before they came back down as the brothers disappeared. "Go in peace."

They then walked back to the portal where Jinora's spirit waited. "You did it!"

"I thought opening the portals in my life would be an issue," Korra said before looking at her hand. "But it turns out I also have to answer for stuff I did a hundred lifetimes ago."

"Whelp. Facing the Wolf-Bats should be easy now." Naruto said holding her by the waist as Kurama, now the size of a small fox jumped on his shoulder.

"Look out World, Kurama's back!"

"See? I did something in my past life so now I gotta deal with this crap!" Naruto spoke pointing at Kurama.

They walked through the portal at that.

Republic City.

Naruto watched from the locker room as Korra and the others won the tournament before confetti dropped down as the crowd started cheering.
