Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or Legend of Korra.
Remember to vote if you haven't! It will now end the poll either when I finish this season (Change/3rd) first or ep 13 of s4 of the Ultimate Spier-Man story.
And then I will put up a quick one for Shinobi on Board as we thought up something we feel we should also get your opinion on. And then another next story poll when either Ninja in the Web or Avatar Maelstrom ends.
I also got a new beta for all stories minus the Star Wars, this one, and Young Justice stories but as I sent them the chapter for Shinobi, water got on their laptop and that's in the shop. And they can't do it at the moment for a while but said to continue until they can.
OK, now we're in what's tied for my favorite season... I have the series on DVD and the first season and this one is the ones that I rewatch the most.
UPDATE: NARUTO LEARNING BOTH LAVA BENDING AND FLYING HAS WON
Beta: Chaos-PSD.
Book Three
Change
Chapter I
A Breath Of Fresh Air.
The world has entered a new age. Harmonic convergence created an energy shift the likes of which has never been felt before. And after two weeks, Republic City continues to recover from Korra's epic battle with Unavaatu and Hundun. Vines have sprouted up all over, creating pockets of wilds the spirits have come to call home. What other changes are in store for our city?
Air Temple Island.
"Come back, Bum-Ju."
Bumi chased the rabbit spirit he made a friend with at the cliff and held up a pink sweater. "If you don't wanna wear the sweater I made you, that's fine." He said climbed a tree before going to the branch the spirit was at over the ledge. "I'm sorry I got mad. Bum-Ju, I'm running out of tree. Can we go down now?" He asked before the branch broke, bending down and having him hold it lest ye fall. "Bum-Ju, a little help?" Bum-Ju grabbed onto his coat before he fell out of it and to the ground. "Ah! Ahh!"
He screamed as he turned, falling face first, and threw his arms out. Just as he was about to hit the ground, air shot out of his hands stopping him. "Look! I'm airbending." He said smiling at Bum-Ju before the air stopped and he hit the ground. "Ah! Wow, that still hurts a lot."
Republic City.
In a vine-covered block, Naruto and Korra looked around both holding staffs. "How are we ever gonna clear away all these vines?" Korra asked as Tenzin and Jinora walked behind them. "I don't get it! I can vanquish Vaatu, but not a bunch of stupid vines?"
"I'm sure you'll find a way," Naruto said as spirits walked or flew around them.
"Why do you wanna get rid of them?" Jinora asked as she pets one. "You changed the world. We're connected with the spirits again. The wilds are their home."
"I don't think the people who used to live here are as excited about it as you are." Korra sighed as she pushed moss out of the way to reveal the city. "I gotta go face the press and tell them I still don't have a way to get rid of the vines." She said before blue wings opened on her staff revealing it's a glider as well. "This should be fun."
Naruto had dark orange wings pop out and they both flew up in the air.
At City Hall, Raiko was at a podium with Lin, Zira, and the two forces talking to the press. "Mr. President, are you concerned that your approval ratings are now nearly as low as the Avatar's? Have you seen today's headline? It says, 'Raik-oh-no. Polls pan Prez plans!'"
"I'm not concerned with snappy put-downs in the press. I'm facing this calamity just like every other citizen. There's a tree growing right through my office." Raiko spoke as he motioned to the vine to the side of the building. "You think I'm not doing everything I can to get rid of it?" He asked before Korra and Naruto dropped down.
"A few questions, please!"
"Avatar Korra! Do you regret the way you handled the Unalaq crisis?"
"Why are you forcing the integration of spirits in Republic City?"
"She didn't do that, Unalaq attacked the city with the vines," Naruto spoke as he walked up. "They're very strong in spirit energy and they seem to have a connection with the spirits due to being in the Spirit World for 10,000 years."
"Listen, I've been trying everything I can think of to get rid of these vines, but-!" Korra stopped as they started asking questions.
"Why can't you fix this?"
"Are the vines here to stay?"
"Is this part of your new world order?"
"Look! Harmonic convergence was just a couple of weeks ago. I just need a little more time to get everything back to normal." She said before Raiko spoke up.
"The Avatar has put us all in a very difficult position, but my administration-!"
"Oh! I'm sorry. Did I put you in a difficult position by fighting the giant force of pure evil that was going to destroy the whole world?" She asked and decided not to bring up the Hundun incident. "Maybe your administration could've handled that!"
"That's all! No more questions!" Lin spoke to the reporters, having Raiko walk back inside.
"This is a disaster," Korra said before Asami walked up to the two.
"Don't worry. We'll figure something out."
"Easy for you to say. You don't have my poll numbers. 8% approval? Who were they asking?"
"You can't take that to heart," Naruto said, wrapping his arms around the two. People are just frustrated."
"Says Mr. Can't Go Under 75%…" Korra sighed. "I don't blame them. I should be able to fix this. I'm the Avatar."
"But you aren't perfect. Neither of your lives was." Naruto said before turning them to walk to the car Asami brought.
Air Temple Island.
"You are not gonna believe what just happened."
Bumi ran up to Ikki who was playing with a spirit. "Where's your father?"
"Dad!" She yelled having Tenzin open the doors to run out with the others.
"What is it? What's wrong?"
"The most amazing, wondrous, fantastical thing just occurred," Bumi said, walking up to the deck. "Okay, Bum-Ju and I had a little fight. I made him this sweater, and he didn't seem to like it. And I'll admit it might need work, but it was my first attempt at knitting. So I was a little hurt."
"Hilarious." Tenzin sighed. "Time for dinner, everyone."
"No! Check this out. I can airbend!" Bumi yelled out getting their attention and tried to airbend. Only for nothing to happen. "Yeah, wait. Seriously. I was doing it. Oh, hold on. I just… Maybe if I… No." He said trying different ways to airbend. "I swear I'm not making it up."
Later, they all sat at the table with Naruto, Korra, and Asami joining and saw Bumi move his arms. "Stop waving your arms around at the table. It's not funny anymore." Tenzin spoke after taking a bite of his food.
"It's not a joke."
"What's up with him?" Korra asked before sitting down by Bolin.
"Bumi says he airbended earlier, but he can't now. Oh, and I guess he's not very good at knitting either. I gotta say, I love being a part of this family. You got the grumpy dad, the wacky Uncle. The put-upon mom, crazy kids. This is great."
"Where's Mako?" Naruto asked as he sat down leaning an arm on his knee.
"He's staying at the police station."
"Still?"
"I told him Tenzin invited us to stay here since our apartment is a vine habitat now, but he said he had a ton of work he wants to finish," Bolin explained before Naruto looked to see Bumi stand.
"Oh! Did you see that? I think the napkin moved."
"You blew on it." Kya sighed before Bumi raised a hand.
"Wait! Maybe I can only do it when my life is in danger. Bolin, bend a giant boulder at me."
"Yeah, I don't think that's a good idea," Bolin said after slurping some noodles.
"If you're gonna be bending giant boulders, you can do it outside," Pema said, feeding Rohan.
"No one is bending giant boulders!" Tenzin spoke up, standing.
"Look alive, Uncle Bumi!" Meelo yelled as he threw a plate at his uncle.
"Ah!" Bumi threw his arm and had a ball of air surrounding the plate getting shocked looks from everyone. "I told you!"
"Unbelievable. You're actually an airbender." Tenzin said as Bumi smiled.
"Wait until I tell mom. She's gonna love this." He said before the plate dropped.
Police HQ.
Mako who was sleeping at his desk was woken by a call from an alarmed shopkeeper, who claims that his brother, Daw, accidentally ransacked the store after displaying what appeared to be airbending. Mako is skeptical of his statement, stating there are only five airbenders in the world. Upon arriving at the store, Mako orders Daw to come out of the back room, but in doing so, Daw accidentally sends a strong gust of wind that knocks the door off its hinges and onto Mako, stunning him.
Panicked, he apologizes to Mako before running out of the store.
The Next Morning, Air Temple Island.
"Ugh! I can't figure this thing out!"
Bumi in his coat said as he tried airbending while they all stood outside. "Do you think being in the spirit world during harmonic convergence could've given him bending?" Korra asked Tenzin who stroked his beard.
"I suppose it's possible."
"Maybe Uncle Bumi is just a late bloomer," Ikki spoke up, as Kya waved her arms in front of Bumi.
"I have been noticing a change in your aura lately."
"And you didn't tell me?" He asked as Lin and Mako walked up to Tenzin.
"Invisible spirit monster attack?" She asked hands on her hips.
"Lin! You won't believe this. Bumi just started airbending." Tenzin said, having her blink and turn to him.
"I'm afraid he's not the only one."
"What?"
"I got a call last night about a guy who just started airbending out of nowhere," Mako explained to Tenzin.
"You mean there's another one? Where is he now?" He asked Mako who turned away at that.
"He... Blew a door down on me and get away. We've got an all-points bulletin out on him right now."
"Has Zira gotten it as well?" Naruto asked, putting his hands on the railing. "My Task Force can help cut the search down."
"Lieutenant Zira has been helping, yes," Lin said before they left.
Later, Naruto and his girlfriends were at the city docks walking to Asami's car. "This is so exciting! New airbenders in the city? I bet we can find that guy before Mako does." Korra said as Asami held up the keys before looking at Naruto and threw them at him.
Naruto sped down the streets before hitting the hand brake to drift into a turn then slammed on the brakes as he got to a large vine before a porcupine spirit appeared. "Hey! Watch where you're going!" The spirit yelled out as Naruto waved his hand.
"Yeah, yeah, just gotta get used to you being on the roads OK? What are you doing living in the middle of the road in the first place? Wouldn't it be safer at another spot?"
"Don't ask me, Avatar."
"Not the Avatar, this hot piece of ass is." Naruto thumbed to a frazzled-looking Korra who sat in the back seat, hand over her chest.
"Damn it!" Kurama, fur on end clawed his way up from the trunk. "What the hell Naruto!? You almost shot me out!"
"And my life would instantly be better, furball!"
"Bite me!"
"You made the world this way. We're just living in it." The spirit spoke out.
"Look, you sure you can't move the vines?" Naruto asked the spirit who huffed.
"Spirits? Vines? We're all the same. Seems like the Avatar would know that."
"Not the Avatar!" Naruto yelled as the spirit left before looking back at Korra who was looking forward. "Korra, you okay?"
"I think that spirit just gave me an idea of how to get rid of these vines." She said as Kurama got on the front seat.
"I was beginning to think she was as dumb as you."
"Can you use it on him first?" Naruto deadpanned before backing up and speeding down the street.
At the Air Temple, Tenzin was sitting looking at the statue of his father, expressing his joy over the possibility of new airbenders, and was approached by his children, who asked him whether or not the new airbenders would become part of their family. He states that all airbenders are, in essence, a part of their family, and he becomes emotional at the thought of rebuilding the Air Nation.
He tells his children that the process will require their leadership and guidance in order to teach the new recruits the ways of the Air Nomads, to which his children respond that they will be there to help.
Back in the city at a canal, Korra was getting ready at a vine-covered building as Lin, Zira, and Bolin joined them before Raiko and the reporters walked up. "Stand back sir," Naruto said, walking over with Zira.
"We need room to do this."
"I hope this works," Korra spoke before she started to do the spirit purifying on the vines, having it resend into the ground. "Go in peace."
"How did you know what to do?"
"Will you send the spirits away now?"
"How soon can we expect public water service to resume?"
The reporters asked before the vines came back out covering more of the building and started to break it.
"Look out!" Naruto yelled using air bending to throw rubble away.
The others helped with their bending and getting people out of the way. "I think that could've gone better." Bolin sighed.
Dusk, Air Temple Island.
"Can't talk. Meditating."
Naruto heard Korra say as he found her at a gazebo. "You must be at the end of your rope. You hate meditating." He said walking to sit behind her and pulled her flush against his chest.
She sighed as she leaned against him and leaned her head on his shoulder. "I thought that if I contacted my past Avatars. See if there is someone who knows something to help me."
"And?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Nothing, they all don't know as this is new… Even Wan as they were common for him and they disappeared for the most part when he closed the gates…"
"Raava?"
"Sleeping, the battle took a lot out of her due to her not resurfacing for a while. Did I ruin everything by leaving the spirit portals open?"
"You didn't ruin anything. You did what you thought was best for the world. And now things have changed. Change can be good or bad, depending on your point of view." Naruto said resting his head on her shoulder
"You're not going to break out into song are you?" Naruto sighed as Kurama jumped on a railing. "I wouldn't put it past you humans to do that… Especially as I don't know how the hell this universe operates."
"This is one of those bad changes." Naruto sighed. "But this one was my fault."
"I know the people's point of view. It's bad." Korra sighed before Naruto hugged her.
"You're not the president, Korra. Your job isn't to fix the daily problems of every person in Republic City. Your responsibility is to bring balance to the entire world. And that means no matter what you do, some people are not going to be happy about it."
"This seems like it is your reincarnated lives Naruto," Kurama spoke up as Naruto looked over.
"Could you not? We're having a moment here."
"Yes, Naruto is right."
They looked back to see Tenzin walk up. "On the other hand, some people will be very happy, like me. What you did during Harmonic Convergence, may have brought back the Air Nation. And that can only be good for restoring balance. That is the act of a great Avatar."
Korra stood up at that, having Naruto follow. "It's scary. I have all this power and all these people depending on me, but I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing half the time. It seems like I should be wiser." She said as Naruto draped an arm over her shoulder.
"You chose me as a boyfriend. That's the smartest thing you did."
"I thought it was the dumbest," Kurama said, having Naruto flip him off.
"True wisdom begins when we accept things as they are," Tenzin said as they all looked at the sunset. "You started a new age Korra, there's no going back to the past."
"Mako called!"
They turned to see Bolin running up. "The cops found the new airbender guy. But when they tried to bring him in, he ran away and climbed to the top of Kyoshi bridge and he won't come down." He said before noticing the group. "Uh... Sorry, did I interrupt an Avatar wisdom session?"
Kyoshi Bridge.
The group landed on the bridge and saw Li with a megaphone talking to a man on top of the bridge. "Come down immediately or we will be forced to take action."
"Stay back! I'm dangerous." He said before officers dropped down and he blew them away "Sorry!"
Korra grabbed her staff and flew up to stand just above the man. "Don't panic. I'm just here to talk."
"Please, I don't know what I'm doing and I don't wanna hurt anyone."
"Tell me about it. Rough day, huh?" She asked him before sighing. "I'm having kind of a rough day myself. Do you mind if I sit down here?
"No."
Korra sat down and looked ahead. "I know you're scared. You've gone through a big change and it's kind of my fault. But you're not alone. There are other airbenders and they want to help you. Actually, they're really excited to meet you."
"I don't want to be an airbender. Please, you're the Avatar, make it stop."
She shook her head at that. "I'm sorry, I can't. But I promise you, things will get better if you just give it a chance. Let me take you over to Air Temple Island and we can talk this through, OK?"
He looked at her before reaching out. And fell, having Korra dive after. She caught him and they landed at Tenzin. "Daw, this is Tenzin. He's going to help you."
"It is absolutely my pleasure to meet you, Daw. I've never met a new airbender before. Well, at least not one whose diaper I didn't have to change." Tenzin said as the man stared.
"Actually I just fell off a bridge so I could use a fresh diaper right about now."
"So is this the deal?"
They looked to see Raiko walking up. "We have a crisis every other day now thanks to you?"
"Listen, I know you're having a tough time getting used to these changes and I'm sorry for that. But you and everyone else are gonna have to learn to live with it. The vines and the spirits are here to stay." Korra spoke, walking up to him.
"Well, you know who's not here to stay? You! I order you to leave this city. You've caused nothing but trouble since you arrived."
"Don't worry, I was already leaving." Korra bit back, having him leave. "I can see my path now. There are new airbenders out there and I'm gonna find them and rebuild the Air Nation."
"Don't think I'm not going with you," Tenzin said as he and Naruto walked up. "It's so exciting. Who knows who's out there right now, discovering the gift of airbending for the first time."
White Lotus Prison Mountain.
In an octangular cell carved into a tall mountain peak, a man with long gray hair and a beard wearing ragged clothes with his hands and feet wrapped up looked up as the thick steel door opened revealing White Lotus members used an extending bridge to walk over before it folded back.
"You know the drill, Zaheer."
"Of course." Zaheer stood and went to the back wall, hands behind his head.
"I hope you still like rice."
"Have you ever read the poetry of the great airbending guru, Lahima?" Zaheer asked from his spot.
"What?"
"Guru Lahima lived 4,000 years ago in the Northern Air Temple. It is said that he unlocked the secret of weightlessness and became untethered from the earth, living his final 40 years without ever touching the ground." Zaheer explained as one put a bowl of rice in the door.
"Is that how you plan to escape, with something you picked up from an old airbender children's story?"
"Like all great children's tales, it contains truth within the myth. Lahima once wrote, 'Instinct is a lie, told by a fearful body hoping to be wrong.'"
"What's that supposed to mean?" The guard asked, having Zaheer smile.
"It means that when you base your expectations only on what you see, you blind yourself to the possibilities of a new reality." Zaheer then turned and used airbending to slam the guard against the bar door and ran forward to grab him as the others got ready to attack. "Unh unh unh, you wouldn't want to singe your friend, would you?"
"How? You're not a bender." The guard he was holding spoke.
"Nature is constantly changing, like the wind."
Zaheer pulls the keys off from the sentry. On unlocking the door, he airbends, slamming his hostage against the wall. He slides out of his cell, narrowly avoiding a sentry's firebending attack, before airbending the sentries off their feet. He leaps up and grabs the firebender, throwing him into the cell. Zaheer avoids an earthbending attack and leaps off a bent earth wall, before climbing up the wall with airbending.
Perched, he avoids a fire blast and leaps behind the firebender, before throwing him to the cell with airbending. He runs up a wall, avoiding the attacks from the remaining two sentries. He airbends them off their feet, before airbending them into the cell. He quickly locks the cell. "Now you might wanna ration that bowl of rice. You've got 3 weeks until the next shift change. It's the dawning of a new age. The end of the White Lotus and soon, the end of the Avatar."
Zaheer then jumps off and uses airbending to land on pointed ledges as he makes his way down the mountain.
To Be Continued.
