Chapter 3: A Road Untravelled.
Brendan walked down the road for a bit before he turned back and saw Shelly exiting the Pokemon Center. He thought for a minute before walking up to her.
"Shelly?" he asked.
Shelly looked at him.
"How would you like to travel with me?" Brendan asked.
Shelly looked surprised, "Do you mean it?" she asked.
Brendan nodded, "If you're thinking of defecting, you might be better off with me than by yourself." he said.
Shelly thought it over before she smiled and nodded, "Then I accept. Thanks again for giving me a chance, Brendan." she said.
"No problem. Now, let's move. The next stop is Fortree City." Brendan said before they started down the road.
"So, how many badges have you got?" Shelly asked.
"Five. The most recent one is Petalburg City's badge." Brendan said as he showed her his badges.
"Impressive! No wonder you're such a match for Team Aqua!" Shelly said.
"Thanks." Brendan said.
"So, Shelly, if we're going to travel together, I suppose we should get to know each other better." Brendan said.
"Okay." Shelly said.
"First, tell me, what kind of Pokemon do you favor?" Brendan asked.
"Well, I've always loved Water Pokemon, but I also like Pokemon that are cute." Shelly answered.
"I remember you have Mightyena, Carvanha, and Grimer. Are there any Pokemon you're looking for in particular?" Brendan asked.
"I would love a Lapras. Also, a Pikachu. They are so cute!" Shelly said.
"Well, who knows? We might just find them." Brendan said with a smile before his stomach growled.
"Hungry?" Shelly asked.
"Yeah, I didn't have breakfast and I haven't eaten since yesterday." Brendan said.
"Well, do you have somewhere to set up camp?" Shelly asked, noticing the sun was starting to go down.
"Yeah." Brendan said as he walked to a spot in the forest.
"Second question, do you have any ingredients or a pot?" Shelly asked.
"Both." Brendan said as he dug said things out of his backpack.
"Then, why don't you let me cook?" Shelly asked.
"You don't mind?" Brendan asked.
"Not at all." Shelly said.
As they waited for the stew to cook, Brendan and Shelly talked to each other in an effort to get to know each other better.
A few minutes later, Shelly served Brendan a bowl of cream stew.
Brendan took a spoonful and his eyes shot open, "Delicious!" he said before scarfing the rest of it down.
Shelly smiled, "I'm glad you like it." she said.
Later, Brendan set out a sleeping bag and gave an extra to Shelly.
"Hope it sleeps well." Brendan said.
"Thank you." Shelly said before they tucked in and fell asleep.
