Then in an instant, the weird event began to reverse. I saw the room around me begin to re-appear bit by bit, until everything began to settle. However, it wasn't the same room from mere moments before.

Instead of the bar being lit up with loud music and lots of people, it was the opposite. The bar was silent except for a few confused groans ringing out. The bar was no longer packed and instead it was half-empty. But most importantly, the bar…wasn't really a bar anymore. It was a dilapidated abandoned property.

The remnants of the bar were noticeable. You could tell where the patrons were supposed to enjoy their beverages, and where the beers were poured. But it was like the entire place had aged several years and had been left forgotten. There was dust covering almost every inch of the place, and the place had been ransacked and vandalised. "Fuck Thanos" was graffitied in many places, as well as other thick graffiti tags I could not read.

The door was also gone, and had been replaced by thick boards covering up the place. Enough light was filtering through the wood to be able to see, but it wasn't well lit.

"What the hell is going on?" Tess groaned beside me, clutching her head in confusion.

"I-I don't know." I responded in earnest.

I watched as a few of the bar patrons began to descend onto the one employee who was left standing behind the bar. But the poor guy seemed just as confused as everybody else and could barely stammer out a response.

I dug into my pocket to check my phone. I should probably call Shaun and see if he's okay. He's at work right now, but something weird has happened so I'm sure he'll have access to his phone.

"I have reception, do you?" I asked Tess.

"Yeah. But I must have lost it for a while because a bunch of texts and missed calls are coming through," Tess muttered and she began to study her phone further "Jesus, my phone is trying to say some of these calls were from five years ago. Whatever the hell has happened has caused some weird electronical malfunction. Do you think it could be like the Y2K bug?"

I didn't bother responding to Tess as I noticed texts light up my screen as well. Most of them appeared to be from my two brothers - Justin and Alex. Like Tess, my phone was trying to say they were from the past. They spanned from 5 years ago, to just a few days ago. The earlier texts were mainly from Shaun but they seemed to stop after a while and it was only Justin and Alex texting me. I read the newest ones from each of them.

Sis, I miss your face. I still hold hope that one day we'll be reunited again. Love, Justin.

Anna! My therapist advised that sending these therapeutic texts five years on may not be the healthiest way to cope these days and to try and move on, but I had to share the good news. The Avengers are working on a way to un-do the snap. One day soon you'll hopefully read this and be like 'wtf is the snap'. Talk soon!

Alex was right. I am reading this wondering what the heck is he going on about.

I went to show Tess the text from Alex as it must have meant something, but I noticed she answered a call and was trying to speak to somebody on her phone. I decided it was now probably a good time to call Shaun to see if he was okay.

I went through my contacts and hit 'call' on his contact and held my phone up to my ear. It took quite a few rings, but I managed to get through. However, it wasn't Shaun who answered.

"Hello?" A female voice answered, and I could hear aprehension in her voice.

"Errrr, hi? Can you please put Shaun on the phone?" I responded in confusion.

I heard a gasp ring out and a loud bang, as if she had dropped the phone. The loud noise appeared to wake a baby in the background who began to wail loudly. It was then I noticed that I had another call trying to come through. I removed my phone from my ear and I saw that Alex was calling me. I ignored his call and waited impatiently for the woman to pick up the phone again so I could see what on earth was going on.

"Babe, what's wrong?" I heard Shaun's voice in the background. My blood began to boil. He was supposed to be at work, not at some woman's house with her baby. I took a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm myself down so I could confront Shaun.

"It's…it's Anna. She's back. They must all be back." The woman moaned and I heard her pass the phone over to Shaun, as her voice became quieter and his voice became louder.

"Anna, as in, my Anna?" Shaun asked her.

"Yes. Your Anna." She snapped, clearly offended at his choice of words.

"Naw, don't be like that. Hang on, let me get rid of her." Shaun said to her before finally picking up the phone "Is this really Anna?"

"Shaun, what's going on? You're supposed to be at work, and now you're in…whatever this situation is. Can you please explain? I'm confused." I asked in an attempt to stay calm. For all I knew there was some innocent explanation and I just needed to hear the information before I flew off the handle.

"Anna. Whilst I'm glad you've returned and you sound okay, I have moved on in this time. You can't blame me, it's been five years. I enjoyed our time together, but since you've been gone I have found my soul mate. Please do not contact me ever again, and try and refrain from harrassing my new wife and family." Shaun said. He sounded almost robotic, as if he had memorised his words.

"What? Shaun I-" I tried to ask,but his memorised speech continued on.

"-Your possessions are currently in the care of your brother, Alex. He's also taken over power of attorney of your financial matters. As we have no further business I request you cease all contact with me, or I will have no choice but to go to the police. I wish you all the best, take care."

Then he hung up and the line went dead. Before I could even process his words I saw that Alex was calling me again.

"Alex, tell me what the hell is happening and make it snappy 'cause I'm dying over here." I said as I picked up his call.

"Anna?" He choked out.

"Alex." I teased.

"Anna? Holy shit."

Surprisingly it was this interaction that began to make my skin crawl, and not the one where my husband with a baby and a woman in the background had asked me to cease contact. Alex absolutely never swore. He was always so formal.

"Alex? What's going on?" I asked shakily as the gravity of the situation began to finally sink in. At first I thought it was some weird superhero shenanigan that was causing a minor disturbance. Clearly this had to be much bigger.

"Anna, are you at the Irish bar near your apartment? That's where you apparently were five years ago," Alex asked but then continued on "I mean not five years ago because it wasn't five years ago for you. But yeah, is that your current location?"

"Uh…well, it doesn't look much like a pub. More like a boarded up crack house. But like five minutes ago, yeah it was Seamus O'Toole's." I responded as I looked around.

The other patrons seemed to be having similar confusing phone calls as they too were looking around wildly whilst talking to loved ones. A few had no phone service and were standing around awkwardly waiting for others to finish up, I assume so they could ask what on earth was going on.

"Get outside. I'm currently in a rental car driving over to your location." Alex stated.

Normally I'd be thrilled that Alex had made an impromptu trip to Australia, and be absolutely ecstatic that I was about to see him. But I knew better. I didn't know what was currently happening but it was clear that this wasn't a surprise trip for leisure. Alex was here for a reason.

"There's a few different exits. There's one near the multi level carpark near here that has a taxi rank, or there's an exit near a few restaurants that also has a pick up/drop off spot." I said.

"Uh…" Alex trailed off "Go to the taxi rank. I'll pick you up there. There's going to be a lot of really weird stuff on the roads right now. Probably easier to navigate the taxi rank. Just be careful, okay?"

"You promise to explain to me what's going on, yeah? Alex, I'm scared. This all is really, really strange." I confessed.

"I'll tell you everything. But just… be prepared for a hell of a story. If you think this is weird now wait until you hear what's happened." Alex responded. I almost let out a squeal of fear, but the cockiness in Alex's voice gave me a small boost of confidence. Alex was never cocky. He was clearly very comfortable and it made me think that maybe I too should be comfortable.

I hung up the phone and my comfort was short lived as once again I remembered that my husband was in some woman's house with her baby, and had threatened to contact the police if I ever contacted him again.

It was then I noticed Tess was off the phone.

"My mother was hysterical so I could barely hear a word she was saying. She said something about some dude called Thanos who killed half of the world's population five years ago. She said I was one of them. But… I'm not dead. I don't remember dying. Is it possible we were killed and had our memories wiped?"

"Fucked if I know. My brother is coming to pick me up and said he'll tell me what's going on." I responded.

"Justin? Justin is coming to get you?" Tess asked with a glee, her face lighting up at the mention of my attractive sports-star brother.

I felt a pang of guilt. I had been so pre-occupied after the phone calls with both Shaun and Alex that I hadn't even thought of Justin. I had a few texts from him on my phone, but I had no idea if he was okay. Should I call him? Maybe I should just text?

I smirked as I got out my phone and decided to send him a lame text, ignoring Tess's pleas to see if Justin would be the one to pick me up.

Call me Jesus cos I've arisen from the dead… apparently.

Finally I then turned to Tess.

"Nah, not Justin. Alex, the American one. Actually I better get outside, he sounded like he was pretty close when I called. What are you going to do? Do you need a lift anywhere?"

"Nah, I'll be alright. Mum advised me to stay put for my own safety whilst she also tries to find someone to collect me. She apparently moved to Sydney or something, she said Melbourne gave her bad memories after what happened to me. I wish I knew what happened to me…" She trailed off.

I promised Tess I would be in contact as I made my way over some of the trashed and overturned furniture throughout the bar. One of the male bar patrons had smashed a broken chair through the wood that had boarded up the door, which gave me moonlight to see my way through the abandoned pub until I reached the door, where I carefully climbed through the broken wood.

When I hit the pedestrian mall I could see most other shops and restaurants in the vicinity were in the same state. Most had been boarded up and trashed, with the recurring "Fuck Thanos" graffiti tagged absolutely everywhere. The fact that confused people were stumbling and groaning everywhere did not help the sight. It really did make things super creepy, as if I was in a zombie horror flick.

I avoided making eye contact with people as I dashed through the walkways and up the steps into the taxi rank. I had anticipated it would be empty, and I was right to an extent. There were certainly no cabs. But there were a few people scattered around waiting for one to appear.

"Do you know what's going on?" A frazzled man asked me as I approached.

"No." I shook my head. I subconsciously took a step back to keep a distance from him. He didn't appear to be dangerous but the entire situation had me on edge.

He was silent but licked his lips as he looked back to the road, and I was guessing he was hoping to see a cab.

The night was quiet, except for some crickets in the distance that were chirping away. I looked down and waited anxiously for Alex, playing with the strap of my bag over my shoulder to try and distract myself.

Eventually I heard a car motor in the distance and I looked up and felt relief flood me as I saw Alex in the driver's seat. If five years had passed it barely showed. He didn't have a single wrinkle, and had the same floppy non-stylish haircut he always let his hair grow out to (until it grew too long, then he got a buzz cut. He never bothered to pick a curated hair style). But I guess he was in his late 20s back then, being in his early to mid 30s wasn't the most radical age up.

My relief disappeared when I saw all the others in the vicinity started to edge onto Alex's car. He had a look of panic on his face which normally would make me laugh because he looked so goofy. But I'm sure I was wearing the same look.

Luckily, I had experience jumping into cars quickly. When I first started dating Shaun I found myself in an odd encounter where I had to quickly jump into his car. Basically, Justin dragged me along on a night out because some model he was obsessed with was there. But she had brought along her much older, creepier brother. I got stuck with him when she and Justin decided to sneak off together. So I called Shaun to come and get me.

Unfortunately the creepy brother followed me out when I tried to sneak away. He also used his body to shield me from making a getaway. So I kept speaking to him on the street to get his guard down, and then as soon as Shaun pulled up in his car next to us I dived into his backseat and told Shaun to speed off.

I'd have to do something similar here.

"I don't think this is a taxi. It's just here to pick someone up." I mused, in order to get those around me to start interacting with me.

"Who cares, I need a ride." One of the guys gruffly responded.

An idea hit me. It was perhaps the lamest idea I had ever thought of. But it was the only thing that popped into my head.

"Oh look! There's quite a few other taxis coming! They're yellow and all, definitely cabs!" I bellowed as I excitedly pointed the other way.

Out of sheer luck this appeared to work. Everybody who was approaching Alex's car became momentarily distracted as they looked up to find a cab. Luckily Alex was quick witted as he saw what was happening. I heard the mechanical sound of the car unlocking and I dived into the backseat, my limbs sprawling ungracefully everywhere as I heard the car door click to indicate he had locked it again.

I didn't have to yell 'drive!' as Alex got the memo and put his foot onto the accelerator to speed off, just as a few people began to angrily thud the car in annoyance.

"I did not see that coming. I guess when I found out that the snap was being reversed I had a picture in my head that you would be completely alone," Alex chuckled but then his voice grew serious with his musings "It's interesting. I guess it just shows how much each person focused individually on who they lost in the snap, and not the bigger picture overall."

"The fuck are you on about?" I asked, growing tired of the riddles he kept speaking. I had no idea what the snap was, or what had happened to all of the people involved.

"It's complicated… I don't know where to begi-" Alex started to say but then he grew silent. I was adjusting myself in the back seat after I had dived in, but I did notice that his eyes went wide as he was watching me in his rear view mirror.

"Anna." He spoke up after a few solid seconds.

"Alex?" I teased with a grin.

"I just, wow. You're back. You're actually back. I've had a few days to mentally prepare myself for this, but I've been mentally preparing myself for the worst. I wasn't expecting for you to just reappear as if nothing had happened."

I only sent him a grin in return. I had no idea how to respond. He was obviously going through something major, and I still didn't know what had happened. From what I could piece together a bunch of people had been killed off five years ago, and now that had been undone. I was one of the people killed off.

Shit, that must have really sucked for my family.

Shit, that's why Shaun was with another woman and her baby. Her baby… it was five years ago since I disappeared. That baby couldn't have been conceived more than a year ago, two tops.

"Heh. Shaun had a kid with someone else, right?" I asked Alex without any warning. I didn't bother to wait for a way to tactfully ask him. It just slipped out.

"Err…yeah… like I said, it's very complicated," Alex responded as he rubbed his neck awkwardly "Look, I'm going to find somewhere safe and quiet to pull over. Then we'll get to the bottom of this."
