Most of the characters that will appear in the Human Faction will consist of characters from "The God of Highschool". Although there are a few "Highschool DXD" characters in it, there won't be that many of them. Also, some elements from "The God of Highschool" will be altered to fit the system of "Highschool DXD", such as the MC/King's Sacred Gear: "Sage's Wisdom", which is originally just a very special eye in "The God of Highschool".
With that aside... Let's get it!
P.S. The King's name will not be revealed any time soon. The MC had abandoned his name long time ago to firmly develop his King persona. Thus his name is just... "King". Like King in One Punch Man and so on.
(The King POV)
Sticking a healing talisman to my body, I relaxed as my body started to mend a bit. Then, just for good measure, I began to poke at some specific parts of my body, in order for me to recover a bit more.
Although I hadn't used my Sacred Gear longer than for half a second, I could feel the little prickles of pain coming from my left eye socket. My left eye, which is the Sacred Gear itself, hurt immensely. Moreover, the more I used it, the more I would feel my body deteriorating and boy was it not a good feeling at all. Think about your whole body ripping apart from the inside, or your body slowly decomposing from your internal organs. Obviously, neither one is a pretty picture. Apparently, just like in the manhwa, my mortal form couldn't properly handle my Sacred Gear, causing my body to break from the inside and lose some chunks of my life span.
To avoid this from happening further, I could've just used martial arts to slaughter all of them. But in order to successfully capture the fallen angel and the test-tube baby alive, I assumed that using my Sacred Gear would ensure nobody from escaping. And it did. Within seconds, the two test subjects were unconscious, bound, and shipped off to the laboratory thanks to Executive J, who popped open a portal for me. Besides, fighting with this body condition was going to reopen some of my old scars and pains that I really wish to avoid feeling.
I should've thought of this, back when I was training my Sacred Gear in the Jaesan household. I was so engrossed in wielding it that I completely forgot the stress my body would take from using it. Thus, I had spent two oblivious years of training my Sacred Gear, unable to notice my health declining faster than the stock market in the 1930s. I was fourteen when the 'Divine Doctor', a.k.a. Nah Bongchim, smacked me over my head and lectured on how my body was dying. But thanks to him, he managed to stop several of my serious symptoms and heal most of my physical body. However, there was an extent to what his technique in acupuncture could do, and an extent to what humans could do.
But besides having my physical body in the slow agonizing process of being destroyed, the problem of my life span being chipped away was pretty terrifying. When I first learned that, I went into a full blown panic, with the fear that I could die the very next day as my body expired. Thankfully, after recruiting Kusanagi Kyoichi from the Kusanagi clan, I found out that the Nagisa clan, which was a subordinate clan for the Kusanagi clan, had shinto magic that could discern a person's fate to a certain level. But Nagisa Midori had far better control and talent when discerning one's fate, most noticeably, mine.
"You have about twenty to thirty years left…" Whispered the girl when I was twenty, and even then I get shivers from remembering her dull gray eyes as she announced my eventual end without giving me a warning call for spoiler alert. In her defense, I asked, but still… those words punctured my stomach, catching me off guard. But I was thankful for her directness. With her answer, I had one less problem to fret about. Now, I had to carefully plan out my course of future actions and thoughtfully distribute on how to spend my remaining time.
But in order to increase its efficiency to use it within a fraction of a second, I may have used up two years of my lifespan from immense training with the Divine Doctor and… the strongest human in the world.
People who are attuned to the supernatural side of the world believe that title belongs to Vasco Strada, an ally of mine who taught me how to wield a sword, but I know better. That title belonged to that… that monster.
Jin Taejin.
A monster who kicked and dispersed a huge ball of nuclear energy I had gathered using Strong Force. Yes, you have heard me correctly. He kicked my ball of energy that was almost equivalent to the power of a hydrogen bomb and two times the diameter of the unisphere, and he dispersed it.
Although that wasn't the most powerful ball of death I could conjure… neither was that Jin Taejin's strongest kick. Thank the fates that he is humane, kind, and most importantly on my side.
…
…
…
Well… technically he's on my side when he feels like it. Although he joined the SIX that I had created, through my countless times of nagging, I sometimes wonder if he would actually show up when I needed his strength. But even with his free-spirited attitude, I had to thank him for training me to become strong without my Sacred Gear.
But to be damaged to the degree I couldn't properly use the techniques my masters taught me… it was a shame, but not for long.
Pulling out a matchstick from my pocket, I lit the redhead on flame as the small stick burnt black at an amazing speed. Sighing once more, I flicked the match in the direction of the church, drenched in highly flammable material. With a whooshing noise, immense heat and light struck me, but I stood there unfazed by the blazing church. Sitting down on the grassy floor, I hoisted myself until I comfortably leaned my back on one of the trees as I closed my eyes, sending a prayer of my own to the dead.
"I'll remember you."
And I hadn't broken that promise to anyone, and I had no intentions of breaking it any time soon.
Popping open my flask, I took a swig of sweet wine as I started to see the ashes fall from the sky like snow. I stayed until I felt somebody's presence. Either they were humans who saw the flare in the woods and came to see what was going on, or devils who came to investigate the sudden fire in their territory, or those who followed Raynare and had gone down into Kuoh to gather supplies. Either way, I wasn't going to stick around to be accused as an arsonist, which in this case I actually was.
Trudging down the opposite direction of the commotion that was building up, I slipped through the trees and faded into black.
For the night, my band of merry teenagers spent their time in Executive E's base of operations. Apparently, since I've had the whole place remodeled and increased two other levels underneath the basement, we had enough rooms for everybody. Rooms that were large enough to have a bathroom attached, a luxurious bed, a small fridge half-filled with consumables, various plants to appease the human eye, a large television with free wifi, along with several phone chargers.
In the hallways, we had a large infirmary room, and a rec room. For the night, we had watched a movie together before going to sleep, and boy was it a fun time. Their reaction to F**** C*** was quite hilarious, especially Executive C who couldn't retain the calm composure as he exploded at the plot twist. Even the stoic, sticker to rules, Executive D couldn't help but gasp a few times during the movie.
Thankfully, everybody enjoyed watching it, although Executive X and C became a bit worried that I would start acting like that main character of the movie, considering I have a huge organization of my own, globally. I reassured them that our faction would take no part in terrorism, whatsoever.
Those words seemed to comfort the two, but not until I joked about sending Japan back to the Stone Age. Although Executive C didn't know the extent of my powers, Executive X knew some thanks to the stories that the bishops had told them. With what he heard, combined with a sprinkle of imagination, it wasn't hard for the Kusanagi to picture me reducing the Japanese civilization back to zero, and his pale face scared the crap out of Executive C, who miscalculated my power level.
Today, however, wasn't the day for watching movies and having fun. With Executive E's downed mood, I tried to cheer him up by training together, and since everybody in our group was willing to become stronger, they joined without showing any signs of finding training troublesome.
This is where we went to the third level underground: where all the training rooms were at.
Now… this is where science plays a huge part.
In the Human Faction, the members are largely divided into four groups. The largest group are called the Disciples. Being normal humans that had joined this unofficial faction for various reasons, they mostly dealt with paperwork, manual labor, and organizing and distributing information. Not to mention, assisting others when they needed an extra hand. Some Disciples were combat oriented, but… against a supernatural being, it was guaranteed that the disciples would lose, unless they ganged up on a single opponent. Of course, those who volunteered to be combat oriented were constantly trained in hand to hand combat, firearms and such, but even with those… the Disciples were too weak to go up against supernatural enemies. Thus, if they were needed in the time of crisis, their main jobs were to evacuate citizens and stall long enough till everybody was safe. Hopefully things wouldn't come to something like that.
Then there were the Executives. A combat oriented subgroup of the Human Faction. Although they hold no authority over the Disciples, their pay grade was significantly higher than the Disciples, considering the risks they face. To be on the level of an Executive, one had to be strong enough to win against a supernatural being, or skilled enough to go on missions given from the King. In other words, they were strong individuals who had a whole lot of potential to unlock.
Next, we had Bishops. Complete, utter monsters who had ridiculous power. Some of the Bishops were originally Executives, but got the higher paying job after they unlocked some bullshit power ups, and naturally, the scale of their missions rises with their promotion. They were tasked in ending civil wars in 3rd world countries, surveying and establishing new bases in different regions, and maintaining good relationships with Azazel while also being an ambassador at the same time. Currently, that one bishop who was assigned to be the ambassador of Grigori should be breaking down the news regarding the Raynare incident. Thankfully, we had gathered enough evidence from the abandoned church along with the footage of Raynare attempting to murder an innocent(hardly innocent, but innocent nonetheless) human teenager and one of my executives. But considering Azazel's personality, I think he'll rather compliment me for doing his job of keeping the fallen angels in line. After all, arbitrarily doing something so rash in a territory that belonged to the sister of the current Satans was a 100% death sentence in Grigori.
…
…
…
Forgive me. I went off on a tangent. Back to the subgroups of the Human Faction.
Next we have the Nurses. However, this position was near vacant as it was currently hardly important. After the mass production of nanobots that were handed out to all disciples and executives, all that was required in healing the wounded was just an injection that could easily be done by those who were injured. Thus, nurses were only needed when there were extreme patients that couldn't be mended with nanobots alone. There were still some in the HQ infirmary rooms, some missing a limb and suffering from phantom pains, and some being damaged to a degree that we couldn't do anything but hope we would develop a cure for them.
But obviously, that was going to change.
Lastly… we had the Doctors. Mostly devoted to science, these people were a band of geniuses, who developed technology that exceeded any technology in the current world. Using science and engineering, they managed to replicate powers from devils, fallen angels, angels, and even Sacred Gears.
This is where the training room comes to play.
Replicating a fraction of my power with math, science, and engineering, this specially constructed space down below was capable of altering gravity at the operation room. With two disciples at the controls outside the room, I closed the second metal door behind me, and watched as the door started to seal itself, emitting a hissing sound and sounding a loud beep noise that signaled that we were free to start training.
Wordlessly, everybody, including Executive C and Hyangdan began to warm their bodies up. After I announced that everybody was going to train today as a team, I specifically told them that warming up was the most important part when using the training room. If used suddenly on an unsuspected individual then… well… they could receive some serious injuries from the sudden stress on their body from their own weight. Bones might fracture, tendons might snap off, and such. It was best to be prepared for the change of gravity.
"Well then… turn it up slowly to 3G." I called out to the Disciples behind the control room and from the window they signalled that they received my orders.
Then… with an eerie noise of machines cranking, we could all feel our body becoming heavier as it became a bit harder to lift our chins up. I knew Executive E and Executive X could handle more than just 3G. However, when considering Executive C, Executive D, Executive J, and Hyangdan, 3G was enough.
"So… how is everybody feeling?" I asked, curious of how they were handling the gravity of 29.4m/s2.
"I… I feel kinda heavy…" Groaned Executive C as he leaned forward, placing his hands on his knees, only for him to fall over due to his heavier head and loss of balance. Fortunately, I was already there before he landed face first onto the floor.
"Careful now." I spoke as I warned Executive C with a serious look on my face. "The gravity of this place has increased thrice. One wrong move and your neck breaks like a straw being grasped by a five year old child. But, don't worry too much." I spoke as I noticed how pale Executive C had become. "If anything happens I'll be there to stop any one of you from breaking or hurting ourselves and others. Executive E and X, since the two of you are physically capable of moving around within these conditions feel free to spar with each other, but make sure your attacks don't affect the others. Meanwhile, I would suggest that the rest do something… less drastic. Let's try walking for a bit shall we?"
And we did for about half an hour. Then, when everybody seemed to get somewhat used to their surroundings, we jogged across the training room, careful not to fall and careful not to twist an ankle by accident. But as we were jogging, I began to notice that Executive J had a not so pleasant look on his face. From where I stood, I could hear Executive J clenching and unclenching his teeth within his unmoving lips as he gazed on Executive E and X.
It was obvious what he was feeling: jealousy.
Jealousy was something Executive J could never fix as it was his nature to envy others who were better than him. He was jealous of his grandfather, who was declared to be the strongest magician. He was jealous of me for having a powerful Sacred Gear. He was jealous of the Bishops, and how strong they were despite some being the same age as him. But on the other hand, these emotions of his spurred him to train harder and improve drastically. However, too much was fatal poison to himself and others around him. Lightly gaining his attention, I gave him a small smile.
"Don't worry too much. Although we need to keep you physically in shape, remember that your main talent is in magic.." With that, I gestured to the area where the sounds of clashing metal sounded as Executive X used the blunt side of his sword to spar with Executive E who was using his bare hands and fists to block and counter.
"The two of them had trained for their entire lives in martial arts, while you trained in magic from a very young age. There's bound to be a significant difference between them and you when it comes to physical attributes."
"..." For a few moments, Executive J shut his eyes, and started to breathe deeply. Then, when he opened his eyes, his jealous eyes toned down as he gave me a meek smile. "Thanks." He said, but keeping his eyes on the two Japanese executives as Executive E roared as he was launched into the air by a flock of crows. "I… I needed that. To be reminded that while I excel others in magic, others excel me in other areas I've never really trained in…"
"Young master is strong." Came the voice of the young maid as she walked by Executive J's side. Even for the maid, who was well trained and skilled with her knives, this sort of exercise made her brow covered in sweat. Out of her maid outfit, she had tied her hair into a long ponytail instead of having two braids, and wore a simple tank top and gym shorts.
"Apologies for interrupting, but young master is strong." She continued, her face developing into a serious, yet somehow very cute one as she pumped her fists. "He can outrun any average man and be the first. He can crush any person's hands with his strength alone. It's just that… those two are beyond the norm."
The three of us could only sweatdrop as Executive E yelled at the top of his lungs as he was taken into the air, ambushed by a bunch of black crows that were created by Executive X, who was cackling at Executive E's demise.
"To be fair, we're all beyond the norm." Grumbled Executive C as he joined in the conversation. Unlike Hyangdan, who only had a bit of sweat, we could all see the dark patch on the back of his shirt, indicating that he was sweating immensely. "Heck, I remember the first day my jutsu worked, which… burned down half of my school… But to imagine my life would become like this… at least I get to wear a cool ass suit. Why is the dress code suits anyways? Shouldn't armor be a better option?"
"They're not just cool." Cut in Executive D, as she shot Executive C another glare. "They're extremely durable clothes, their base design being…" Suddenly, the teenager's eyes widened as she started to sweat even more. "I-I'm sorry, my King! It was a slip of my tongue…!"
"It's alright." I spoke, assuring Executive D who was wearing a conflicted face. What Executive D had just spoken was information that was classified to all disciples. Although executives were allowed to know the secret behind their uniforms(depending on the executive's preferences, the cloth designs could be altered to one's preference. For instance, there is Executive J's black paisley suit, and Executive C's suit that was attachable to his shoulders that allowed the black suit to billow like a cape just like a chuunibyou. In Executive D's case of wearing a traditional shrine outfit, it was a matter of religion and increase in her shinto magic, thus she was allowed to go completely against the dress code), I had told Executive D and Executive X that I would rather keep it a secret from those who didn't know. After all, it was hard to stop people from telling others juicy information because the temptation was enormous. But in Executive C's case, he had asked and I was obliged to give him answers as his superior.
"By conducting experiments and research on my Sacred Gear, the science department of the Human Faction had managed to replicate some of its powers. In this training room's case, they have replicated the power of controlling gravity without the need of motion. Currently, the technology and machinery we have can only increase gravity within a confined room and only up to about a hundred times the original gravity."
Executive C choked as he nearly tripped over his own feet, only for me to catch him and help him regain his balance.
"A-a hundred…? Wait, only a hundred? Then… you could go more than just a hundred?!"
"I can easily go up to a thousand, but that's not the main point." I spoke dismissively as several executives choked or faltered at my declaration of my control over gravity. "The point is that humanity is capable of replicating supernatural powers through scientific means."
With that, I summoned the Robe of the Sage around my shoulders, as it flapped about.
"That's the jade colored robe you wore yesterday!" Exclaimed Executive C.
"Yes indeed and this is no normal robe. This robe over here… has 100% immunity to physical attacks."
"... get the fuck out of here."
"Executive C!" Yelled Executive D as she smacked Executive C on his head, causing him to stumble from the intense gravity as his head hurt more than usual. "Such uncouth language is not welcomed!"
"Can you blame him?" Asked Executive J as he stared at the jade robe. "It's still unbelievable to even think about it, and I still remember how shocked I was when my grandfather's meteor strike did nothing to him at all."
"... a-a meteor strike did nothing?!" Gasped Executive C. "How big of a meteor strike are we talking about…?"
"Big ones that could destroy an archipelago with ease." Muttered Executive J. "And there were multiples."
"As Executive J had mentioned, it's very durable and perhaps the most perfect armor in the world." I chirped as the Robe of the Sage dispelled. "Your uniforms were created based on that robe you just saw."
"... d-does that mean we get 100% physical damage immunity too…?"
"Unfortunately, no." I spoke, my face turning a bit sour. "Currently, executive uniforms are nearly impenetrable. However, when faced with over a certain amount of force, only about 80% of the force behind the attack would be negated. This means that you'll still be able to feel the impact from whatever attack is launched at you."
"In other words, you'll still feel the pain, but lessened if somebody bypasses the uniform's defenses." Added Executive D, her hands unconsciously wandering to where she was injured. "And do keep in mind that the King had mentioned that they are nearly impenetrable. If you're against somebody as strong as a bishop, they would most certainly puncture that suit of yours."
"N-noted…" Gulped Executive C as he shuddered from imagining whatever terrifying image he had in mind.
After a few hours of training in the training room, along with a few shenanigans that happened every now and then, we decided to take a break for the rest of the day.
"... huh. So… you did that?" Asked Executive C with a raised brow as he stared at the television screen as a female reporter began to explain the abandoned church in Kuoh burning down.
"Well… yes." I admitted, wincing a bit at the thought of human ash spreading across Kuoh. Although I had left bloody smears inside the church, the flammable substance I used would've burnt everything into piles of ash. However, through forensic science, the people would probably figure out that there were people inside the building, or at least some kind of animal.
"Man…" Mused Executive C as he stared at the screen, as the absence of Executive D, who was on a date with Executive X(although she denied it with all of her will), made his speech loosen up. "It just feels wrong to burn down a church though… Even if it's abandoned and even when I'm not a Christian, it just feels wrong to think of the idea of burning down a church or a chapel. It's like… total blasphemy or something like that, right?"
"I wouldn't mind too much." I spoke, assuring Executive C that we were all safe from being smited. "After all, God is dead."
"God is dead… Hah! Nice Nietzsche reference." Spoke Executive C, cracking a smile. Then, after a while his face began to turn pale as a white sheet.
"W-w-wait! Hold up! Time out! G-God is dead? God with the capital G?!"
"Yes." I spoke, blinking in confusion. Strange. This information was something that every member of the Human Faction knew. Even the disciples knew about this, although they weren't allowed to talk about it to anybody outside the Human Faction.
"Wait. Did neither Executive D and Executive X tell you about this?"
"NO!"
The next day, I had gotten out of bed at five, and prepared to go out.
Everybody was still asleep at this point. Even the early birds, who woke up early and jogged to start their day were lying in their beds, dreaming of whatever lay in their subconsciousness.
After practicing some yoga for thirty minutes or so, I took a shower, cooked some breakfast with miso soup with some tofu and a steaming bowl of white rice, along with four extra side dishes. When I had finished eating, I brushed my teeth, and headed out to take a stroll in the park.
When I had arrived at the place where Executive E and Raynare had fought, I was mildly surprised at the lack of destruction that was supposed to be displayed in public. There were no signs of the cracked pavements, the small sized craters, and the large splatters of blood on the floor. In fact, everything seemed to be right in place as it once was.
…
This was the work of either Gremory or Sitri, I suppose. This was their territory after all. They had the rights and the responsibilities to take care of whatever happens in this place. That included cleaning up damages and destruction that were made. Supposedly, they must have used their familiars to deal with it, or they had the time to do it themselves.
Sighing from last night's memories of blood and screams, I picked a random bench and sat down, watching as the sun began to rise from the horizon, waiting for a certain pure nun to walk by. To be more precise, an exiled nun, who the fallen angels managed to recruit her to their side: Asia Argento.
Although I felt like a scum for trying to take advantage of the current state of her lack of affiliation and her altruistic personality, her Sacred Gear: Twilight Healing, was dearly needed in our faction. Although our nanomachine technology was great and all, it wasn't enough when it came to treating disastrous wounds. Although I carried several disciples and executives over to Nah Bongchim(the 'Divine Doctor') who treated them with mind blowing techniques, there were just times when human techniques were not enough. Sometimes, we needed miracles. Sometimes, we needed the power of divinity. And hopefully, just hopefully… there would be a time where we wouldn't need those anymore.
But now, we need them. We are weak and the rest of the world is a big churning tsunami that could sweep us at any moment. For now, we needed to use everything at our disposal.
So I waited on the bench, staring straight ahead as time ticked by. Meanwhile, humans woke up. They got ready to become a member of their community and they walked out of their houses and began to move around. Some passed me, giving me a strange look at my unusual traditional attire, and the brave, curious younglings came up to me to ask what the outfit was before running off to school.
And I waited patiently on the bench. She had to come by here anytime soon. One had to pass this place in order to go to the church, or take the hard way and climb up the mountain where there were no paths whatsoever.
But contrary to my worries, she appeared as I had expected.
…
…
…
Oh boy… I was going to be the biggest scum in the world.
With a heaving heart, I approached the poor innocent nun, who looked so confused at everything around her. Who could blame her? She had been recently kicked out of the church for healing a devil, and despite Vasco Strada's attempts to save her, the church succeeded in exiling her, only for the poor nun to be snatched away by the rogue fallen angels. Now because of those fallen angels, she was in a totally different location where a bunch of Asians roamed about. As a girl who was raised and lived in Italy for almost all of her life, I'm sure this would be a strange sight to see and a bit frightening too as she knew nobody around her.
If I truly cared for Asia Argento and cared about her wishes, the best option was to call Vasco Strada and inform him that Asia Argento was in Kuoh. Despite the… diplomatic problems that would arise if 'humanity's strongest' was to enter Gremory territory, Asia Argento's happiness would be ensured with Vasco Strada.
…
But I was desperate enough to drag this nun down to our level.
Allowing the nanomachines to break down the language barrier, I gave the nun a bright smile and offered her a handshake, while introducing myself.
(Asia Argento POV)
Truthfully, being in such a different country scared Asia, but knowing from the bottom of her heart that God was guiding her, she bravely took her suitcase and stepped into the unknown island. Even when she was exiled from her home and from the house of God, somehow God had guided her to Raynare, a fallen angel who needed her. It felt good, being needed. It warmed her heart to know that she could brighten up someone's day, and it made her smile knowing that she could be helpful to others.
But then a strange man with strange, yet beautiful clothes appeared before her. Introducing himself as the King, the man had politely asked for Asia's name, and in Italian no less! Amazing! Were all Japanese people fluent in Italian?
Quickly, Asia stuttered and introduced herself as she hesitantly took the man's hand as she shook it.
For a second, she thought she saw a sad face on the kind man's features, but then it disappeared as he asked her if he could treat her to something to eat. Asia beamed at the kind stranger as she bashfully nodded her head.
However, after the kind man took her to a very large place where she had her first taste in foreign food, he started to tell Asia troubling news.
"Asia… I don't have any other way to say this, therefore I will be blunt with you about the news I'm about to deliver. Just… just listen and try and keep up with me, capisce?"
"C-capisce." Answered Asia, growing worried over the serious face the kind man made.
"Currently, as I have introduced myself, I go by the name King. However, there's more to me than just my name. Currently, I am the leader of the Human Faction. It's a fairly new faction, considering how the other three main factions existed for over a few millennia. Our faction, you see, deals with ensuring protection of humanity against other factions and rogue creatures that may do damage to humans."
Here, the man took a pause to lift his glass to take a sip out of his water. Then, with a sad look on his face that made Asia wish that she could reach out and help him in any way she can, he began to reveal the truth.
"Through our informants, we now know your current situation. You were exiled from the church, and because of that, the fallen angels have approached you to ask for your help. Based on the equipment she had with her, we are to believe that she was trying to extract your Sacred Gear, essentially killing you in the process."
"... eh?"
"I'm sorry Asia, but Raynare had been planning to betray you from the very start."
Asia could only make sounds that sounded like hiccups to her. Then, with her trembling lips and her eyes filled to the brim with tears she grasped her small hands together tightly. How… how was she supposed to live now…? She can't go back to the house of Father, no matter how much she loved him. And… and was Raynare really going to do such a terrible thing to her…?
"B-but… A-ah! It could be a misunderstanding…! R-right? Can I meet with miss Raynare and—"
"I'm sorry, but Raynare has been dead since yesterday."
Asia gasped in horror as her hands flew to her gaping mouth as her eyes trembled at the terrible news.
"... I had no choice…" Spoke the man, who buried his face in his hands as he massaged his brows. "Raynare and the fallen angels were planning on killing an innocent person, just for having a Sacred Gear… and they would have succeeded if my executives hadn't interfered. However… the cost was severe and my executive sustained immense injuries. Even before Kuoh, she had killed and plundered humans for sport and spite. And she was after you too, so I… I had to put her down."
…
…
…
Asia… Asia was conflicted. First of all, she didn't know what to do anymore. The church has already made it clear that they have banished her from entering the house of the Lord, the fallen angels that she believed had betrayed her, and… and she had nowhere else to go.
She had no friends, no family, and now was truly alone.
Suddenly, a new thought entered Asia's mind. A thought that was so terrible and sinful that twisted the young maiden's insides, as she felt a very uncomfortable sensation arise from her stomach and up to the edge of her throat.
'Oh God… oh sweet merciful God!' Cried Asia in her head as her pupils began to dilate. 'I-I was going to help Miss Raynare kill more innocent people! I…! I was going to be a killer myself…! Oh God…! Please… f-forgive me'
Suddenly, she felt something firm, but gentle squeeze at her lips, and a warm hand supported the back of her neck. Breaking out of her stupor, she saw the man looking greatly worried as he was shouting.
"Get me a plastic bag! She's hyperventilating, and I need to slow down her breathing!"
With a slight ache at the back of her head, she now realized that King had rushed over and placed a handkerchief over her mouth. Already she could feel the uncomfortable sensation die down, but that heavy feeling was still in her heart and deep in her stomach as it fueled her with utmost grief and guilt.
After a few moments, the man gave Asia a plastic bag and instructed her to breathe in and out of the bag, which she complied. When she did for a few minutes, the pain in her head was gone, but she was still trembling like a leaf.
"Thank the fates that I chose a private room…" She heard the man murmur as he kept at Asia's side, helping her recover from the sudden stress. "Asia… are you alright now?"
"A-ah… your clothes… I'm sorry." Stuttered Asia as her eyes began to water again as she saw that the man's clothes were ruined by the soup they just had. It was her fault… she panicked and got somebody in trouble again. It was… it was her fault.
"Asia." Came the firm voice of the man grabbing Asia's attention. "Asia, look at me. It's just a stain that could come off easily. There's no big deal with it. So please, don't cry."
It was useless. She couldn't keep her tears back. Sobbing once again, Asia began to cry and welcomed the warm embrace the man gave her as she snuggled her head deep into his clothes, unknowingly ruining them more with her tears. She… she didn't deserve to be received with such kindness. She was a sinner. A sinner!
"I'm a sinner…" She whispered as her trembling body pushed the King away from her. "I… I don't deserve somebody as good as you! Oh God! I was going to help Raynare k-k-k-kill… kill… oh God… Oh God forgive me! Forgive me! Forgive me!"
For minutes, Asia broke down and started to weep hysterically to herself as her small hands began to wipe off the never ending stream of tears that flowed from her eyes. No longer within the man's embrace, all she felt was the bitter cold and the terrifying lonesomeness that somehow grew larger and larger. Was this… penance for her actions? Did God hate her now? Did he hate her for what she had done…?
It was only when her weeping somewhat died down when the man knelt in front of her and took her small hands into his large rough ones. Once again, Asia felt comfort and warmth, but at the back of her mind, she was telling herself that she didn't deserve this.
"Asia…" This time, the man's voice was soft and gentle, as he brought Asia's attention to him once again. "I… honestly don't know how your God discerns a 'sinner' and a 'good person'. However, to speak from my perspective, I hardly see you as somebody who has done anything wrong. You're not a perpetrator, but a victim here, no matter how I see it."
"B-but I was going to help Raynare… I was going to help her kill s-somebody…!" Wept the nun as she denied someone for the first time in her life. She had never raised her meek voice, she had never yelled against somebody, she had never expressed such emotions in her life… and for doing such things for the first time in her life, these actions drained her strength as she became physically very tired.
"But you didn't." Commented the man as he gently held Asia's hand, his warmth soothing the sobbing Asia. "You are just an innocent girl who was manipulated by a fallen angel who abused your tragic situation. You are just a girl who has a kind heart that wishes everyone for the best, and somebody wicked used that sweet personality of yours."
Suddenly, Asia felt the warm sensation once again, as her heartstrings began to tingle. She was being hugged again by the man, and this time she couldn't muster the strength to push him away nor did she wish to do such a thing. Somehow, the man's words chased away the feelings of guilt and sadness, and left her to wonder if she wasn't truly guilty as she believed.
"And if you still insist that you have sinned indirectly, that too is the wrong assumption." The man continued as he began slowly pat Asia's back, making it easier for her to breathe as small hiccups escaped her mouth. "You haven't done anything that inflicted anybody with pain or suffering, be it directly or indirectly. I can testify to that and I have the evidence to prove that. Lastly… you've done more good than harm in your entire life, Asia. With your Twilight Healing how many lives have you saved? How many families cried with joy thanks to your miracles? You consider yourself to be a sinner, but I say otherwise."
Then, the soft patting noises stopped as Asia felt the man's arms embracing her gently. It was warm. It was nice. It was comforting. But most importantly, Asia felt the dark emotions that clouded her heart and mind, fade away as if they were being repelled by the man's kind words that resonated in her soul.
"You're an amazing person, Asia. And if anybody says otherwise, I would argue passionately against those who fail to see how wonderful you are."
For the nth time, Asia began to cry again. But this time, instead of tears of sorrow and resentment, tears of happiness rolled down her cheeks as she thanked God for sending her the King to save her from the clutches of despair.
(King POV)
After a lot of hugs, back/headpats, and soothing words that were said to boost up one's confidence, I managed to bring Asia to the state of sniffling instead of outright crying. However, when I offered her a home, she burst into tears again, which once again required a lot of hugs, back/headpats, and soothing words.
After introducing her to the executives who were stationed at Executive E's base, I surprisingly found them to get along quickly. Even Executive E and Executive D, who had different types of sticks up their asses, genuinely found the young nun to be loveable.
Good. It was good to see somebody fit right in and it was important to have friends especially for a child that needed several therapy sessions and a bunch of people to lean on.
…
Man… what was wrong with me… I'm partially evil and I've accepted that a long time ago… Why am I beating myself up for manipulating and playing like that with Asia Argento?
Because she's a child.
Because she's the purest person you've ever met.
Because she was at the lowest point of her life.
…
…
…
Scum. Scum. Scum. The words danced around in my head, as I adorned myself with that sweet smile as Asia laughed in wonder as she inspected every item in her new temporary room that I have just provided. Keeping my facade up, I answered all of her questions as she pointed to the air conditioner, the television, the wifi router, and several other objects she had never seen or heard in her life. As a child, she couldn't help but be curious of new things around her, and as an adult who brought her into this new world, I was obliged to teach her and sate her curiosity. Some items needed longer explanations as I attempted to use more simpler terms for the young girl to understand their capabilities and functions.
Still, the words wouldn't leave my head. In fact, they seemed to grow larger as Asia gave the purest and happiest smile at me, doubling my guilt as my conscience was now on the verge of screaming its throat out. It would take a few days at least for the voices to die down into a quiet whisper, but they would remain forever in my head.
…
…
…
'Okay… enough of wallowing in guilt!' I thought to myself, as I quickly slammed my palms to my cheeks. Thankfully, Asia was so immersed with the bidet to notice my acts of self-harm. I chose to do this, and I have no intentions of stopping. I was going to utilize Asia's ability to its fullest starting now.
Sighing again, I opened my eyes, and activated my Sacred Gear. Attraction and Repulsion canceled each other out. Therefore, nothing physical had happened yet, but a storm of equal forces were simultaneously crashing into one and another.
…
And boy was it extorting my strength and shutting down my physical body.
Falling down to my knees, I began to pant as I felt my body begin to ache a bit. Actually it wasn't that much of a pain for me to suddenly lose strength in my legs. I just did that for dramatic effect.
"E-eh?! Mister King! A-are you alright?!"
As expected, Asia heard the noise of my fall despite the carpet on the floor and immediately rushed over as she gasped at the sight of my pale, fatigue face.
"O-oh dear! Are you alright?! What's going on?!"
"Sorry… it's just this… constant strain on my body you see." I spoke, as I gave her a weak smile as I started to tell her about the truth behind my Sacred Gear. The Longinus, as much as it was powerful beyond pretty much anything, had extreme drawbacks, and I explained every drawback it had on me. Meanwhile, the poor nun's eyes were growing wider as tears once again began to threaten to fall out of her large kind eyes. Even before I finished what I was saying, she immediately brought her hands towards me and activated her Sacred Gear and started to patch my body up.
"Oh… oh mister King!" Sobbed Asia. "I-I should've known this sooner! I should've healed you sooner! I'm sorry! I'm sorry…!"
"Don't be…" I whispered as half of my attention was focused on the guilt I was feeling, while the other half marveled at the extent of her miracle. Even the old wounds and scars that were made from the overextended use of the Sacred Gear was being all healed. This… this was beyond what I was expecting. Although it wasn't strong enough to regenerate amputated limbs or flesh, the speed and the extent of recovery I was receiving was quite astounding. With this Sacred Gear, Bongchim is most certainly going to be pissed. All of his years of devotion and research was beaten by a single item handed down by God.
"I never told you about my symptoms, Asia… You couldn't have known what was going on within my body…" I consoled her, feeling like a scumbag more and more.
"But… but I feel so sorry…!" Sobbed the girl as she kept her hands on my body, her Sacred Gear nearly finishing its work. "I… I want to help you…! Y-y-you saved me… so… I want to help you! But still… I-I feel so ashamed…"
"Asia…" I spoke, forcing myself to sound calm and collected as I gently brushed away her tears with my right hand, while I used all of my strength to keep my smile from straining. "Like I have said, you had no way of knowing. Besides, after you knew my condition, you immediately rushed over to help me. So… thank you for helping me, Asia."
Once again, the little girl, this time a bit more bold than before, initiated the hug as she wept again. Hopefully she was crying tears of happiness…
Sighing silently to myself, I returned the hug to Asia as we stayed like this for a few seconds, before I continued on with the tour.
It was after the tour when I offered Asia to ask questions of anything. Strangely, she seemed content, and had no questions to ask, which seemed fairly disturbing. Although I knew that she was naive beyond imagination, it didn't feel right to see Asia blindly trusting me. That's a step I'll have to teach her I suppose. A lesson that any person is capable of being a two-faced person that might look friendly upfront, but secretly a bad person with the worst intentions.
With the girl happy to the fullest with a new home and a new family that would hopefully persist long enough, the day was spent as Asia once again shocked by the fact that eating raw fish was a thing.
…
…
…
Fucking hell… I might as well have kidnapped her…
Truly, doing dirty deeds never gets easier, and I hope it stays that way.
(Midori Nagisa POV)
Midori Nagisa, or Executive D was a woman with integrity and never in her life(which is fairly short considering she's still supposed to attend high school) had she met anybody like Asia Argento. To be fair, a large majority of people she had come across in the Human Faction were nothing she had ever seen. However… Asia Argento, the potential nurse who was still in the process of being recruited, was something she had never expected from a human being.
As an heir to the Nagisa clan, Midori was quite excellent when it came to Shinto magic. However, the best part she excelled at was her clan's main Shinto magic: clairvoyance. With the DNA of her ancestors whose bodies were altered by the practice of magic related to clairvoyance, the Nagisa bloodline had developed a breed of new eyes that were capable of evaluating objects, animals, and sometimes certain magical flows in the world. With these eyes, the Nagisa clan was able to assist the Kusanagi clan in harnessing the control of their powers.
Therefore, Midori had a far more superior ability of judging one's character than others.
She could tell that Executive C, despite his goofy nature, was a kind person in heart. She could tell that Executive J, despite his calm features, had swirling emotions of jealousy in his heart. She could tell… that despite the King's genuine smiles and laughs, he was in immense pain all the time.
…
…
…
She wished to help him. She truly did, but there wasn't a single thing she could do except for supplying healing talismans for him. But suddenly, he showed no sign of symptoms. It had been only a few minutes after he had gone from her sight after he had brought Asia Argento to the basement, but within that short timeframe, the blonde girl had healed the King back to full recovery. This was all possible because of Asia Argento carried Twilight Healing.
…
…
…
But it wasn't the Sacred Gear that made Midori freeze when she used her eyes upon the young blonde girl. It was because she was literally radiating beams of pure light.
This… this girl was purity itself. This girl was molded by innocence and Midori couldn't even fathom how a human like her existed in such a cruel world. Was this the power of belief? Or was it Asia Argento's nature? Either way, this potential nurse was a gem in humanity. Not for her powers(which were amazing in its own rights), but for her kindness that simply oozed out of her fair skin.
Currently, with Midori being the single female person around Asia, the King had asked her to share her room with Asia, if it weren't much of a problem for the two of them. Asia, who had slept in a dormitory with other girls for years, didn't find this suggestion to be uncomfortable. Meanwhile, Midori, who wished to befriend Asia, said yes without feeling any discomfort too.
There were some shenanigans between the two of them, such as Asia shrieking as the cold shower water unexpectedly hit right in her face, or Midori panicking with wide eyes when a still not yet dry Asia tried to poke her fingers inside the electric outlet. Asia was certainly a handful in her own way, but at the same time she was just too cute. Was this the outcome of the combination of purity, innocence, and a sheltered soul? What a dangerous recipe.
Currently, Midori, suddenly finding herself becoming a mother hen, had tucked Asia in her bed and had slipped into her own bedsheets. She had yet to thank Kyoichi(Executive X) and Nawa(Executive C) for bringing in the extra bed for the two of them. It was a huge bed after all, and unfortunately neither of the two were close enough to feel comfortable sharing a single bed.
Just as Midori turned off the lights and said her good nights to Asia, she received a question from the blonde nun.
"Umm… I'm sorry, but… can I ask you a question, Miss Midori?"
Blinking from the sudden and considerably bold move from Asia, Midori replied yes.
"Umm… can I ask about mister King? I-I mean… I want to know more about… him."
Even in the dark, Midori could clearly feel a blush now adorning the little girl's face. It seemed like the small girl had a small crush on the King. Although Midori was not a fan of romance and gossip, she couldn't help but smile at how adorable this young girl was. So, she decided to tell the little nun some of the stories she had with the King, and some of her experiences she had in the Human Faction.
Surprisingly, Midori found herself talking for a considerably long time. Although it has been only a few years since she and Kyoichi had joined the Human Faction, there seemed to be so much to explain to the young nun, who was probably lying on the bed with her eyes shining from hearing all those exciting adventures.
"Whoa…" Spoke Asia in the dark with awe evident in her voice. "That's… that's amazing! And so noble and kind! You saved an entire country and all the innocent people!"
Midori couldn't help but smile at the girl's praise, although it wasn't meant to be one. It felt nice, being acknowledged for doing huge things that many weren't aware of.
"Yes… it was an amazing experience indeed…" She agreed as she sighed, as she closed her eyes. "And I assure you that there are more, and that there will be more for us in the future. Humanity has a knack for getting itself in trouble after all."
"... Miss Midori."
"Yes, Asia?"
"Is… is there a way I could help? W-with my Sacred Gear, I can help the King! I-I can help the Human Faction!"
Midori's heart simply melted just right then. Too cute! She couldn't see her because of the darkness, but it was too cute…!
…
And… too kind. Was it the right thing to bring this innocent soul to countless battlefields and politics?
…
…
…
Well… it was up to the blonde girl it seemed. Although she seemed to be frail and naive, Asia Argento had some steel of determination in her. If she truly wished to join the Human Faction… then it was up to the young girl.
"All you need to do, Asia, is to ask the King." Spoke Midori as she closed her eyes. "And besides… you've helped us more than you can ever imagine…"
"E-eh? I-I did? I-I don't remember—"
"You've healed the King. Our leader. The man we all came to respect." Spoke the Shrine Maiden as one last smile etched on her face as she remembered her relief when she no longer saw the King in pain. "We cannot afford to lose him… Not when things are so unstable at the moment… We need him and we were terrified that his condition would take him away from us earlier than we can imagine… But you saved the King, Asia. You've helped the Human Faction more than you could possibly realize."
Suddenly, slight sniffling noises filled the room, but Midori couldn't sense any sadness lingering in the air. It seemed like the little girl was crying from happiness. From gratitude. From the kind, sincere words that came from Midori's mouth.
"T-thank you…" Spoke Asia quietly as her soft voice barely reached Miodir's ears. "It feels… nice to know I helped you…"
Midori couldn't remember what happened next, for she had fallen asleep.
Today was a good day. A good day with a good person she had befriended. Today, Midori had a feeling that she would come to cherish this particular friendship with this Italian nun.
This chapter's main purpose was to show just how low the King would go to earn power. Although he has a strict set of morals and a sense of conscience, he will choose to be ruthless and manipulative to get what is needed for humanity. Hence, he manipulated a young girl and took total opportunity of her state of distress and loneliness, despite knowing what the best course of action for Asia is.
Also, this chapter is to give more depth to the Executives and some foreshadowing of the "Doctors" and "Bishops", along with a few other things you may have missed.
Besides that, I have nothing more to say. Thank you for reading, and have an amazing rest of your day!
