Story synopsis: In amidst the tension of Kakashi's and Obito's duel, both rely on their Kamui to claim victory. Kamui is a powerful mangekyou, and when used lightly the results can be life-changing. Literally. It's a Kekkei Genkai that allows transportation through space-time, so why not actual time? Neither Kakashi nor Obito was at all prepared for what was install for them. And it doesn't help that neither knows that the other is from the future. (Yet another time travel Naruto fanfic! They are much too common, but are also amazing so why not? Probably an eventual KakaObi at some point maybe)

Two feet rushed up the stairs to the Hatake's apartment. Minato hadn't been this stressed in a very long time. One of his students were missing, while the other had been in an accident not long ago. And while all that was not good, his wife continued to bug him about the favouritism of his students. Not to mention he still had normal work to hand into the Sandaime... The blonde was wondering how much longer he could do this before he'd drop dead from exhaustion? Although, the thought alone didn't stop his vigorous knocking on Kakashi's front door. The white-haired boy was one of his only chances to track the Uchiha down. Sure he could have gone to the Inuzuka clan, but if anything he didn't want the other Jounin's knowing that he was such a horrible Sensei! So horrible that Obito had disappeared! Whether it was intentional or not Minato wasn't aware, but he swore to kami if anything happened to Obito he'd blame no one but himself.

"Kakashi! Are you there?" His rushed, and panicked voice rung out from outside, causing a clone Hatake to stir in his sleep. It was 8 am, and while Minato knew Kakashi was indeed a very early bird, he was unaware that the older version of his student had more or less taken on many of Obito's habits. Either way, Minato waited at the door, fiddling with his hands as he waited for Kakashi to respond. It seemed like he wouldn't, but then the man heard a click at the front door of a lock opening, and not a moment later did Kakashi open the door, looking at him as if he'd only just woken up. That was... Odd. Kakashi was normally up by 6 am as far as Minato was aware. And note he only knew that fact because Kakashi himself had complained to Obito that he should wake up at 6 am like he did! There wasn't a weird obscure reason as to why the blonde knew...

"Lor- ...Sensei?" Came the tired answer of the boy, and Minato swore it was as if he was looking at Obito. Since when was Kakashi sluggish out of bed? He supposed at least the boy was still wearing his mask, geez did he ever take it off? Did he wash it and dr- wait no, off-topic. Minato didn't have time to question the behaviours of the Hatake, he had to get to Obito as soon as possible!

"Kakashi! I need a favour! Obito's disappeared and I need you to summon Pakkun so I can track him down! I know you're low on Chakra reserves but you're one of my only shots to finding Obito!" His voice was too panicked but Minato couldn't care less at this point. What if someone was torturing Obito!? What if he was hurt? Or worse! Minato knew the Uchiha was stubborn so he wouldn't get taken down that easily, but Minato was also well aware that unlike Kakashi, Obito was not stealthy, nor did he have the same level of strength as the grey-haired boy. Something might have happened! Oh, how Minato hated not knowing. In fact, he was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he hadn't even noticed the look of shock that spread across Kakashi's face.

"W-What?" He barely got out still in shock, and the clone did have reason to so. First of all, Obito's gone!? Why!? How!? He wasn't aware that Obito had left the village, and differently wasn't aware that it was because the Uchiha had accompanied his proper self to Kannabi Bridge. So, what could he do if Obito was missing!? Since well, the clone did care for the Uchiha much as his real self did. So, of course, he would summon Pakkun to go hunt him down! But... That lead to the second problem. His real self did give him extra Chakra to last the duration of his trip, but the real Kakashi hadn't taken in mind whether or not his clone would be using any Ninjutsu during that trip. Especially since they had no training so well, why would he need to use Ninjutsu? Apparently to summon Pakkun the clone came to realise. However... the problem was that he didn't have enough Chakra reserves to use the summoning Jutsu and to also keep himself intact. If he used it then he may as well be blowing his real self's cover by poofing. So well, Clone Kakashi had a choice to make.

Summon Pakkun and rat out his real self by poofing? Or don't summon Pakkun and risk Obito never being found?

Well, the answer was pretty obvious.

"Ok." He stated simply, knocking Minato out of his thoughts. The Kakashi clone made his way to the center of the room where the was more space to perform the Jutsu, with Minato following behind him. Little did the spikey blonde know what was to come. Kakashi sighed under his breath before biting his finger. What could he say? If anything. "Sorry Sensei..." He muttered to Minato's confusion. Unsure why it was his student was apologising. However, everything seemed to make sense when Kakashi slammed his palm on the ground, successfully poofing Pakkun into existence with the Jutsu, however, also successfully- or maybe unsuccessfully? Poofing himself in the process, causing the clone to disappear much to the Namikaze's shock.

"Wh- Kakashi!? He poofed?" Was really all he could say. Like seriously? Kakashi just poofed! It must have been a shadow clone! Wait, could Kakashi make shadow clones? Minato couldn't ever remember the boy being capable of such a thing. Especially since it was one of the Nidaime's secret techniques! How on earth did Kakashi learn it so early on? Usually, Jounin, ANBU, and above learn techniques like that, and Kakashi wasn't supposed to take the Jounin exams for another month or so... And even if he did know it! It was true that Kakashi was an amazing fighter, but in terms of Chakra reserves, Kakashi's were limited, especially since he would always use it up on practising his Chidori. But shadow clones!? That simply didn't make any sense. Suddenly a new voice called the blonde from his thoughts, thankfully it was exactly who he'd been wanting.

"Yeah, boss- wait, Minato?" Said the small Ninken on the ground looking up at Minato. Pakkun was well, confused that he'd been summoned. He didn't think Kakashi would do such a thing, then again he was acting different so maybe he would do that? Well, that wasn't the most confusing thing. It was the fact that instead of Kakashi, Minato was the one to greet him upon being summoned. Wasn't Kakashi the one who summoned him? Where was he? Still away on his errand? Then who summoned him. There were far too many questions speeding through the Ninken's mind.

"Pakkun! Kakashi just summoned you but he poofed! It was a clone- so where is Kakashi!?" The older blonde suddenly shouted in outburst, practically freighting the poor Ninken to death. What did he even say? The volume of his voice almost made it inaudible... Oh. So Pup must have left a shadow clone in his place to keep Minato from not worrying. Not that Pakkun could remember Kakashi even knowing that Jutsu... Even so, the idea was smart of him as per usual. But still, that didn't add up why the clone poofed. Oh, well. Pakkun supposed if Kakashi hadn't enough Chakra into the clone then using the summoning Jutsu may have poofed it. And so, that leads to the shockingly loud blonde panicking over Kakashi.

"Err..." Was really all Pakkun could say. Kakashi had told him not to tell Minato of his whereabouts. So... He simply would have to find that Uchiha brat and let him know instead. He just had to get past Minato. A difficult, near-impossible task, unfortunately. Nonetheless, the blonde continued panicking.

"He's gone too for sure! First Obito and now Kakashi! I'm just the worst Sensei ever! I've lost two of my students!" He ranted on, comical tears flooding down his face much to Pakkun's frustration. You would think the spiky-haired man could keep his cool in difficult situations, but well... It seemed not. But then, that was when something, in particular, Minato had said, caught the Ninken's attention. Something about the Uchiha brat. The interest Kakashi had seen in the boy Pakkun still couldn't figure out. Why Obito was the only one allowed to know where he was going was also unknown to him... But, he had to trust Kakashi.

"Wait, Obito? I have orders to tell him about Kakashi's whereabouts. He's missing?" Maybe he shouldn't have said that... Because the moment he did, Minato's tears stopped, and his expression was now suddenly a tad it too far on the serious side. The man was like a rollercoaster... His emotions were anyway. But Pakkun swore the blonde couldn't have been like that as a child... Perhaps his wife had been a bad influence on him.

"Pakkun! You know where Kakashi is!?" Minato questioned in all seriousness. Pakkun didn't want to know what the blonde was thinking of at that moment, and quite frankly he just wanted to escape and go find Obito so he could get his job over and done with and go back to relaxing as he was before he was summoned. Well, he knew that Minato Namikaze was a force to be reckoned with... He couldn't just shrug the man's demands aside. Pakkun supposed he'd try if only a little to do at the Jounin said.

"Er, well yes... But-" He tried, failing under Minato's demands.

"Tell me!" The blonde hissed, suddenly going from falling apart in tears to scratching with sharpened claws. That was what Pakkun thought anyway. How could he tell Minato that he actually wasn't allowed to tell him about Kakashi? How would he react? Surely not good... Pakkun couldn't' take it any longer so he finally blurted out

"I can't! Boss told me to only tell Obito, and to especially not tell you! I only follow bosses orders..." He died down halfway through, realising that he probably shouldn't have told Minato that. Oh well, he couldn't take it back now.

"W-What?" Minato's anger was suddenly replaced with confusion. For Kakashi to specifically tell Pakkun not to tell him where he was, well... He must be doing something dangerous! Or even restricted! What was Kakashi doing? Where was he? Was he in the Village? Minato was starting to doubt that, but Pakkun was his only option to find out so he had to work with what he had. He took a deep breath and calmed himself before continuing. "Fine, then track down Obito. Once we find him then you can tell him where Kakashi is, and then I'm going to get him!" He promised, resembling a certain blonde Jinchuriki that didn't actually exist in this timeline. Not yet anyway. Or maybe, it wasn't the younger blonde that Minato looked like, maybe it was the other way around. Either way, his determination was fierce and he was suddenly very determined to bring back both of his students. For uh, whatever reason. It was probably only to prove to the other Jounin that he wasn't a bad Sensei.

"S-Sure..." Pakkun sweatdropped, and before he'd known it, they were out the door. Hot on Obito's scent.

Pakkun barely noticed that the Uchiha's scent resided alongside Kakashi's.

Star's began to glisten in the sky. It was getting late, nearly past sunset. Kakashi knew that he and Obito were nearing Kannabi Bridge. If anything, he'd think that they had already crossed into the land of grass and that they'd reach the bridge within the hour. Kakashi was more or less upset knowing he'd withheld information for the Uchiha of where it was they were going. But thankfully Obito seemed to understand that it wasn't information for him to know. But Kakashi couldn't shake the feeling that Obito was already well aware of where they were headed. If the fact that he was walking in front of him, almost as if he knew the way was anything to go by. Obito had for some reason stayed mildly quiet for most of the trip. And while Kakashi had rushed off earlier when his clone had been poofed, he knew that rushing would only get them caught in enemy territory. He'd long since let go of Obito's hand when he raced off before, but Kakashi saw several occasions when Obito would stare at his hand, almost fondly. If anything, it was weird for the Uchiha to do.

But, that was nothing compared to the way Obito had been behaving. Especially since they'd reached the land of grass. It was like being in enemy territory flipped a switch for the brunette. He was poised and quiet in a stealthy way when walking through the forest, and Kakashi wondered when Obito had looked so professional before. He hadn't. It was like the younger Hatake had been looking at a trained ANBU when he watched Obito in action. It was mind-boggling... He was right next to the Uchiha and yet even he was struggling to feel his presence. Sometimes he'd forget Obito was there altogether, so when the Uchiha did say something on the odd occasion, it almost always scared the crap out of Kakashi. Obito would chuckle under his breath while the younger would more or less pout and feel embarrassed. Especially since it happened more than once. To think he had the mind of a Veteran Jounin but still couldn't sense the 12-year-old right next to him...

Either way, they continued on like this for a while, but then there was a rustle in the bush, and Obito immediately honed in on it. Kakashi hadn't quite picked it up, probably because he would only be in an environment like this on missions, only keeping his guard up when on a mission, whilst Obito had lived most of, if not all of his life after leaving the Village having to keep his guard up. Not that Kakashi knew that. And quite frankly, Kakashi didn't even think there would be enemies nearby, what with it being months before Kannabi Bridge even becomes important.

Thankfully Obito knew better. Or was it unthankful? Usually, that was Kakashi's role...

"Move!" Obito whisper shouted suddenly, causing Kakashi to dismiss his thoughts of the Uchiha. But well, Kakashi didn't actually know what it was Obito had sensed, what with him being too forgone in his own thoughts of the said boy. So he didn't exactly know where to go to avoid it. Obito apparently could read Kakahsi's mind, knowing he wasn't sure of what to do and leapt silently towards the Hatake, pushing him against a tree and looking up to see a group of enemy Ninja pass by in the treetops. Obito was honed in on them, his serious demeanour shattering his fake playful one. So much, that the Uchiha really hadn't noticed just how close he was to Kakashi. He didn't care either since not getting found was his top priority. He wanted to help Kakashi if only a little. That all, however, was unknown to the younger, who froze when his back hit the tree, Obito's body keeping him in place.

"Obi-" He tried, but only earned a shush from the older. The Uchiha's glare was not seen and by the younger, neither was the quiet activation of his Sharingan, that lead to distant screams of the passerby Ninja who ultimately were taken into Kamui's dimension. Kakashi however, couldn't hear them. He couldn't hear those shouts over his own heartbeat. Obito was really close. Kakashi could feel the older's breath on him, it was different. Really, really different. Obito was different. Kakashi could see that quite clearly. But Why? Why was Obito being so... confusing!? Not like his old self, heck not even like his older self. He was like an entirely different person.

If only Kakashi had known that Obito had only been watching out for him to keep him safe.

He still tried to move eventually, still unaware to the last few cries of the enemy Ninja. What was currently being done to them was, well... not ok. Let's just say that Obito could be very protective, going so far as to tear limbs and such via Kamui. Not nice, and Obito knew he shouldn't be using Kamui for such an evil thing.. But... Protecting his friend, and just killing for no reason were two different things. Anyway, Kakashi attempted to move away, because having his friend so close to him was not a situation he wanted to be in, but Obito only grabbed his wrist firmly, preventing any movement. What was he doing!? Kakashi didn't know, and quite frankly, he was taking the situation in a completely different direction. Not that he knew that...

"Don't move." Obito's dead voice commanded. It was a tone Kakashi knew a little too well, reminding him perfectly of the older villainous Uchiha he'd had to kill. Not that he succeeded in doing so, but hearing a voice so strikingly similar to the older's was... haunting.

"W-what are you doing?" He tried to whisper but stumbled over his own voice. This had to have been worse than when he'd had to read chapters of Icha Icha to Naruto and Shikamaru that one time! Er well, if the red that practically glowed on his face was any indication. Whether it was from the memory or the current situation Kakashi couldn't tell. Either way, Obito had finally decided to look back towards the Hatake, Sharingan deactivated and enemy Ninja properly- if not inhumanly- taken care of. Kakashi watched as those two black obsidian eyes stared right through him, it was like they could read his every move and Kakashi didn't know how to feel about that. If travelling through time would have brought him to something like this then well... He didn't know how to feel about that either. There was a sigh from the older, and the Hatake could feel Obito's breath on his skin, warm. What? No. He didn't just think that. Not at all...

"There were enemy Ninja. You're saying you didn't sense them. They're gone now." Obito finally explained, leaning back and standing upright. Kakashi felt himself shrink towards the ground. Obito was acting as if that didn't just happen? How could he of all people be so poised!? The younger felt his breath pick up and looked towards the ground, unfortunately missing the red that had started to tint the other's face. Kakashi was a little too overwhelmed with his own thoughts to even stand. And Obito wondered why it was Kakashi was sitting on the ground, he walked over and bonked him on the head which easily broke the younger's train of thought. "Oi. Did you even hear me? You're acting weird." He said aloud, but his temperature still hadn't calmed down since well, the Uchiha had then realised how close he'd been to the other.

"I'm not the one acting weird..." Kakashi mumbled to himself as the brunette continued forwards. The Hatake soon stood up as well and followed behind the older. Silently finding himself having a lot of questions, but failing to have the guts to ask them. Maybe he would after they destroyed the Bridge? That seemed like a good idea...

When they did finally find the Bridge, it went up in flames, courtesy of Obito's Fireball Jutsu.
