The day after the car incident with the Weasleys, Lucius, and Narcissa insisted the boys start on their summer homework to get it over with so that they could focus on doing fun things for vacation. Harry heard the floo flare and a moment later, Snape entered the library where the boys were working.
"We are working on our potions assignment, Uncle Severus," Draco said as soon as he noticed his godfather. "I am almost done with mine." He said proudly.
"That is wonderful, Draco," Snape said, giving him a pat on the back. He glanced at Harry. "And how are you doing with your assignment?"
Harry glanced up nervously. He was briefly reminded of how Snape would loom over him during class and insult his work. "Um, I'm doing okay."
Snape nodded slowly. "If you need any help, let me know." He offered.
"Why?" Harry asked bluntly. "I doubt you would have offered me help when I was Harry Potter."
"Harry!" Draco hissed.
"It's true," Harry insisted. "And I'm still the same person, even if my name is different and my appearance is different. You hated me before…" he gave a tiny shrug. "I don't understand why a name change means you don't hate me anymore," he said quietly.
"I apologize for how I treated you," Snape said after a moment, his eyes pained. "It was wrong, even if you were truly Harry Potter. I let my past dictate how I treated you."
"So you didn't get along with James Potter? Or Lily?" Harry asked curiously.
"Lily was a kind person," Snape said, still feeling pain at her loss. "It was James whom I did not get along with. We fought, he and his friends tormented me quite a bit. You looked so much like him, seeing you at the Gryffindor table on the night of your sorting made me remember."
"Oh," Harry said, fiddling with his quill. "So you didn't hate me for me?"
"No, of course not," Snape assured him. "How could I? I didn't let myself get to know you. Although you did drive me insane with all your crazy stunts and rule-breaking," he added lightly.
"Crazy stunts?" Harry questioned.
"Fighting a troll, standing on your broom -"
"It's Quidditch!" Harry protested with a grin. "I had to catch the snitch!"
"If you could try to do so without doing stunts that could break your neck, I would appreciate it," Snape said with a smirk.
"So would we," Lucius said as he and Narcissa walked into the library room.
"I can't wait to try out for Quidditch!" Draco said enthusiastically.
"As long as you keep in mind that Quidditch is supposed to be a friendly rivalry," Narcissa said. "No fighting about which House is better or fighting each other. Especially if you make the Slytherin team, Draco." She added.
"We won't," Draco said with a huff.
"Severus, any word on who the new defense professor is?" Lucius asked.
"Yes. Gilderoy Lockhart." Snape said with distaste.
"Who is he?" Draco asked curiously.
"A celebrity. He has written several popular books on his encounters with dark creatures." Narcissa explained.
"Oh, he might be interesting then," Harry said hopefully. He really wanted a decent teacher this year as he liked the subject.
"Maybe," Lucius said doubtfully.
"I have some correspondence to attend to. Would you boys like a snack while you do your homework?" Narcissa asked, smiling softly as she watched her sons.
"Chocolate chip biscuits?" Draco asked hopefully.
"In my library?" Lucius frowned.
"While eating over a plate and using plenty of napkins," Harry looked at his father with wide, pleading eyes.
Lucius sighed. He was defenseless against that look. "All right. But I will not be pleased if there are any crumbs left behind," he warned. He caught Snape snickering and glared at him.
"Softie," Snape teased.
"Oh, hush up," Lucius grumbled but couldn't help but laugh.
/
"Do you like chess, Hadrian?" Lucius asked as he got out his elegant set that evening after dinner. Snape had stayed for the meal but declined dessert, saying he needed to get back to Hogwarts and work on lesson plans for the upcoming year.
"Yes but I'm not good at it," Harry admitted. "Ron has tried to teach me, he's really good."
"Father has been teaching me," Draco said. "I'm not as good as he is. Yet." He smirked at his father.
"I'm more fond of Gobstones," Narcissa said as Dobby brought a tea tray out to them.
"I like Gobstones," Harry said.
"Would you like to play with me? It's like pulling teeth to get your father and Draco to play," Narcissa said as she summoned the game to them.
"Sure!" Harry sat across from her. "This is great, playing games together. The Dursleys would play games sometimes and I could hear them laughing from my cupboard and -" he froze. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to talk about them." He apologized.
"We don't mind you talking about them, sweetheart," Narcissa said gently. "Actually, I think you should talk about your time with them. You mentioned a cupboard?"
"Oh," Harry flushed. "Yeah, until I got my letter to Hogwarts my bedroom was the cupboard under the stairs."
Lucius slammed his cup of tea down. "A cupboard?" He spat. His son had lived in a cupboard?
"You didn't mention that before," Draco said, shocked.
"And after you got your letter?" Narcissa asked, trying to keep her voice calm.
"They worried that someone was watching them so they gave me Dudley's second bedroom."
"Their son had two bedrooms while you had a cupboard," Narcissa said in disbelief.
Draco jumped up. "They should be in Azkaban! They treated him like a servant and when they weren't, they kept him in a cupboard!" Tears of anger and sadness filled his eyes. And all through first year, he had been jealous of Harry. His own brother had never even had a real bedroom. Shame filled him.
"Draco, relax," Lucius said, taking a deep breath to calm his anger.
"But he didn't deserve to be treated like that," Draco protested.
"I know, son. He didn't." Lucius looked over at Harry. "You didn't deserve any of their cruelness. I hope you know that."
"I know," Harry said softly.
Narcissa reached for his hand and gave it a loving squeeze. "You're here now, that is what matters."
"I'm glad to be here," Harry said shyly. "I always wanted to be part of a real family."
Narcissa blinked back tears and glanced over at Lucius. She could see the pain in his eyes at their son's words.
"Harry, after I beat Father at chess and you beat Mother at gobstones we can play a game together," Draco said, lightening the conversation.
"Oh, you two think you can beat your parents do you?" Lucius asked with mock indignation.
Harry and Draco exchanged a grin. "Anytime, anywhere," Draco teased.
"Yeah. We have youth on our side," Harry added with a giggle.
"Oh, you little imp!" Narcissa gave a pretend gasp. "And to think I was going to go easy on you."
"We don't need you guys going easy on us," Draco scoffed.
Lucius slowly grinned. "Remember you said that, Son."
The evening passed with fun and laughter and ended with two gloating parents and two young boys groaning with good nature at their defeat.

Narcissa and Lucius had offered to let Harry and Draco invite some friends over for a belated birthday party but the boys had decided they wanted to celebrate with just their parents. It was the first birthday the twins would spend together and they wanted to enjoy it just the four of them.
"Well, as it will just be the four of us we thought we would go to Newquay."
"Where is that?"
"It is a town in Cornwall. There are a lot of fun family things to do there,"
"Yeah, Fistral Beach, an Aquarium, a zoo…"
"That sounds brilliant! I've never been to a beach before. I don't know how to swim though," Harry admitted.
"We can teach in our pool before we go," Lucius said, giving Harry a side hug.
"There's a pool here?" Harry asked in surprise.
"Didn't I show it to you? Yeah, it's a natatorium," Draco said. "An indoor pool." He clarified at Harry's confused look. "It's on the bottom floor of the house."
"Wow," Harry breathed. An indoor pool!

"Master Hadrian?" Dobby asked tentatively as Harry was in his bedroom, packing a bag for the upcoming trip. He had so many clothes now, it was crazy. Draco had already packed and had gone downstairs to request a snack for them.
"It's just Hadrian. Or Harry." Harry told him.
Dobby shook his head. "Tis not proper to address yous so casually." He said stubbornly.
"All right." Harry sighed.
"Tipsey has been worried she will receive clothes. Master Lucius and Mistress Narcissa have not spoken to her or seen her since she told the truth. She stays in the laundry room, working. But she doesn't know if she will be getting clothes. She frets a lot."
"Do you want me to ask?"
"Dobby would be so grateful, she just wants to know. She is sorry for what she did." Dobby said earnestly. "She'll take any punishment, but being given clothes is so disgraceful for us elves. No one will hire a house-elf who has been given clothes."
"I'll ask," Harry said.
Dobby beamed. "Thank you, Master Hadrian!" He said before popping away.
Harry quickly finished packing and then headed downstairs to find his father.
/
"Can I come in?" Harry asked from the doorway. He had found Lucius in his office doing what looked like paperwork.
"Of course you can. You don't have to ask," Lucius said, gesturing for him to enter.
"Um, I was wondering if I could ask a favor?"
"Of course, anything you want," Lucius said, giving him an indulgent smile.
Harry took a deep breath. "Could you not give Tipsey clothes?"
"Excuse me?" Lucius stared at him.
"Don't give Tipsey clothes," Harry repeated. "Please?"
"Why shouldn't I?" Lucius's face darkened. "She stole you from us!" In fact, he or Narcissa should have given her clothes already. Honestly, they had been so focused on having their son back they hadn't even discussed it.
"I know but Voldemort -" Harry paused as his father flinched. "I mean, you-know-who made her. She was supposed to kill me and she didn't." he reminded him.
"I know that," Lucius ran a hand over his face. "But she still shouldn't have taken you. She should have told us what you-know-who said. Especially after he disappeared."
"She was scared," Harry said in a small voice.
"I'm surprised you aren't angry at her as well," Lucius said. "You suffered for her decision."
"I know, and I am upset but," Harry sighed. "I've faced Vold er, you-know-who. I saw him sticking out from the back of Quirrell's head and," he shivered. "He's terrifying. I can't blame Tipsey for being so scared and doing what she did, hoping to protect us all."
"You have a very kind heart, my son," Lucius said fondly. He didn't know how Hadrian managed to be so compassionate after living with those horrible muggles but somehow he had. "I honestly don't want her here," he said after a moment. "I don't trust her and I can say for certain that your mother doesn't trust her either."
Harry's face fell. "Isn't there somewhere she can go if she can't stay here?"
"We do have other property," Lucius said slowly. "We have a cottage in Devon that we have occasionally stayed at for holiday. Your mother inherited it. We keep a couple of house elves there to keep up the property. If your mother agrees, we will send her there. That way she won't have the disgrace of being given clothes." he said reluctantly.
Harry felt relief flood through him. "Thank you, Dad!" He said impulsively. He paused. "Er, or Father?" he asked uncertainly.
Lucius stilled as a rush of pleasure filled him at hearing his once-lost son refer to him that way. He remembered feeling the same when Draco had called him Dada as a baby. Before he got older and saw his friends refer to their parents in a more traditional, formal way. "Which do you prefer?" He asked after a moment.
"Well," Harry bit his lip. "Dad and Mum sound more personal, you know? Father and Mother kind of sound distant and too formal. But if that's how you want to be called, I can do that." he added quickly. He supposed in the more wealthy families it was more common to call one's parents Mother and Father. "I don't mind at all."
Lucius stood up and put his hand on Hadrian's shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "I certainly do not mind being called Dad by you." He said quietly. "It is traditional for one to call their parents Mother and Father in pure-blooded families but not all do. I do not mind being called Dad. And I know your mother would not mind being called Mum."
Harry relaxed. "Okay. Dad." He grinned.
Lucius drew him in for a hug. "I love you very much, I hope you know that." He said gruffly.
"I love you too," Harry said, hugging him back.
/
Later that evening, Narcissa began crying when she heard Harry call her mum. "I've waited so long," she whispered before hugging him tightly.
After she let Harry go, he turned to his brother. "Do you mind me calling them mum and dad?" He asked Draco anxiously.
"No, of course not. They're your parents." Draco said in confusion.
"I mean, instead of Mother and Father."
"Oh. No, why would I mind?" Draco shrugged. "It doesn't matter to me. I'm just used to referring to them as mother and father." He looked at Harry curiously. "You don't need my permission, you know. They're just as much your parents as mine."
"I know but I guess I worry I'll be in the way or something," Harry confessed. "You're used to having them to yourself."
"Merlin, Harry. I'm not that selfish," Draco pouted. "I mean, maybe I can be a little selfish sometimes…"
Harry chuckled.
"But not about this. And I'm not jealous or anything either. I've always missed you and wanted my brother back. Even if it's you," he teased.
Harry laughed. "Gee, thanks."
"Are you boys all packed? We're leaving very early in the morning," Lucius said, putting his arm around a still-tearful Narcissa.
The twins nodded. "I can't wait! This is going to be so fun!" Draco said happily.
"Your bedtime will be a little earlier tonight," Narcissa said. "No cranky twins in the morning," she teased.
"Or cranky parents," Draco said cheekily.
"Yeah. Early bedtime for you guys too," Harry giggled.
"Such cheek," Lucius said with a sigh. "Perhaps we should leave them here and -"
"No!" Both boys protested.
"He's teasing, boys," Narcissa smirked.
Harry was so excited he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep much. He had never been allowed to go on vacation with the Dursleys so this would be his first one. With his very own parents and brother. He couldn't wait!
