Chapter Six:

Spider-Squid Chit-Chat

After a passionate morning and a yummy breakfast with pancakes, Makerboy and Agent 8 went for a walk through the city together and took in the fresh air. As they did, the green-haired Inkling's cute Octo-girlfriend, who'd donned a black dress, urged Makerboy to try climbing a building with his spider powers.

Climbing the bedroom wall had been one heck of a test, but climbing the wall of a building would be insane. Makerboy and Agent 8 found a secluded alleyway area, then the former placed his hands on the wall of a building and started climbing.

Before he knew it, Makerboy's feet had left the ground and he was climbing the wall, just like at his place. Agent 8 giggled excitedly, and Makerboy fought back the urge to let out a loud whoop. He let out a little laugh of excitement, more fascinated by his powers than ever. He kept climbing until he'd gone up to the rooftops.

Agent 8 soon joined him, using her Splattershot to make a line of ink, and morphing into her octopus form to swim all the way up to where her boyfriend was positioned. She'd also given the green-haired squid a Power Mask, which would help him test his powers in the open without anyone seeing his face.

Makerboy stood on the roof of the building, which was a large tower, and took in the view of the city, as Agent 8 held his arm while leaning against his shoulder in a loving manner.

"Today is so perfect to take in a view like this." The Octoling said happily.

"And its also a good day to meet up with Parker." Makerboy remarked, looking at the text window on his phone, "Maybe we can swing over to Saya's place, they are hanging out over there. You wanna go for a ride, 8?"

Agent 8 lifted up Makerboy's mask, and pecked the squid boy on the cheek. "Don't let me go, handsome." She whispered, wrapping her arms around Makerboy's neck and giving him confidence, "Lets see how well you can swing."

'Alright, time for a test drive.' Makerboy thought, he looked down at the city and stretched his arms a little. He let his girlfriend massage his arms, helping the Inkling concentrate as he prepared to take his leap.

Makerboy breathed slowly, then he leaped off the edge with his girlfriend holding tight and flicked his wrist, spawning a web-line that latched onto the side of an apartment building. The green-haired squid grabbed the line and swung over the streets of Inkopolis, then he launched into the air and whooped excitedly. He heard his girlfriend let out a little squeal of excitement, and he smiled at Agent 8, who was amazed by the view.

Makerboy grinned under the mask, and spawned another web, swinging all the way past the city tower and down another street. Makerboy swung high, and landed on the roof of an office tower. Agent 8 lifted his mask and kissed the Inkling on the lips in an energetic manner, hugging him tightly.

"You were great so far!" She said proudly.

"I can see Saya's place from here..." Makerboy quipped, "...and I can feel Parker's presence, somehow."

"Well, why are you standing here for, swing over there!" Agent 8 urged.

Makerboy nodded, then he leaped off the roof with his mask on tight and swung past a few buildings until he'd landed at the place that was Saya's apartment. Makerboy lowered himself down near the door with Agent 8 hugging him tenderly, then he opened the door, and walked inside.

"Its funny..." Makerboy whispered as he took off his mask, fully-revealing his face, "I can feel a connection to Parker... and the connection is tingly, as if my head is tingling a little bit, its like I have a special sense."

"Is it a spider sense?" Agent 8 asked, "I bet its some sort of Inkling Spider Sense. Hee hee hee, that cute spider gave you so many gifts you could use to help others around you, and they could help you as well."

"Honestly, I dunno what's in store..." Makerboy remarked as he walked up the stairs.

The green-haired Inkling and his girlfriend approached the door that led to Saya's room, and Makerboy knocked on it. He heard Parker's voice call back, telling him to hold on a moment. A few minutes later, the door opened and Makerboy was greeted by the sight of Parker in a red shirt and blue shorts with Saya in a leotard hugging his arm.

"Hey, man. How've you been?" Parker hugged Makerboy and invited him in with Agent 8.

"Pretty good, what about you as well?" Makerboy quipped.

"I'm happy to see you again, Saya." Agent 8 said as she gave the golden-haired Inkling a hug.

"And you're still the cutest Octoling ever." Saya replied as she hugged the Octoling agent back, happy to see the pink-haired Octoling.

"Still doin' the hero thing." Parker told Makerboy, "And did you catch that Jameson broadcast today, the dude swore up a storm, and that was while I was spider-swinging on my way to bust up some bad dudes at a construction site."

"Oh..." Agent 8 raised her hand, "Speaking of spiders. Alex, you gotta show Parker."

"What happened?" Parker asked.

Makerboy rotated his shoulder, then he flicked his wrist, shooting a web at the wall. Parker and Saya gasped, both completely surprised by what the green-haired squid had just done. Parker was more surprised than Saya, who was snapping a photo just as Makerboy shot out another web.

"No way, you got powers too?" Parker asked, "How about we sit down and you tell me about it?"

Makerboy sat down with Parker on the sofa. "So last night, I was making out with Agent 8 under a tree when a spider bit me and it was radioactive..." Makerboy explained, "I got feverish, and Agent 8 tended to me as we went to bed. And then, when I woke up, the fever was gone, but I'd gotten muscular. And the crazy part? I had white stuff in my hand."

Agent 8 giggled, "It looked like he had a pleasurable dream."

Makerboy's face turned red. "Moving forward!" He said quickly, "It turned out to be web, then I climbed a wall and did an upside down kiss with Agent 8. So, I got powers just like you. I can climb walls, spin webs, and I think I have a spider sense in my head."

Parker looked at Makerboy, taking it all in. "I went through almost the same thing you're going through when the spider bit me, man." He said, "Except, I... didn't wake up with webbing in my hand, making it look like... heh... you know what. You're about to embark on a journey. I know you didn't ask for it, but we don't have much of a choice now."

"I know, it looks like I might have to be a superhero... Another Spider-Squid." Makerboy remarked, "That means we'll be fighting bad guys together. It won't be long until Inkopolis sees a second wall-crawler, and the press is gonna have a field day."

"Alex is going to make a cute superhero." Agent 8 said in a bubbly manner.

"You have a gift and a choice, just as I had a choice when I got these powers." Parker flicked his wrist and spun a web on the ceiling, "It can be a blessing, but it can be dangerous too. And with great power, there must also come great responsibility, Alex. I will help you with it, we'll help people, and we'll get you an outfit. How does it feel to have those powers?"

"While its been kinda exciting, its a little weird, scary and surprising..." Makerboy replied honestly, "I mean, before the bite, I had my flame power, which hasn't left..." He held out his hand and a ball of flame took form, "...so now I have the power of spiders and fire."

"That'll make you distinguishable from me, as long as you don't hurt people with that fire." Parker gave him a thumbs up.

"Yeah, but there's of course the name and outfit. You're Spider-Squid, you wear red and blue. Me, I'm green and I wear a red sweater. Soooo, maybe my outfit should be green, red, and gray. As for what the heck my superhero name is gonna be. It can't be Spider Squid II or Spider-Squid Jr. or Spider-Alex or Spider-Makerboy. Sooo... Spider-Inkling?"

"I like it." Agent 8 said, hugging Makerboy in a loving manner, "The Cephalopod Spider wouldn't work, Spider-Squid II would be weird, I love Spider-Inkling already, and you're gonna have a very cute outfit."
