Chapter 54: Taking Breaks
Los Santos
Friday
"You've got to be kidding me." Molly said.
All Molly wanted was to relax with the girls at Pacific Bluffs after a job well done to chill near the beach with some hotdogs. Alas, her past decided to send her a big reminder when a voice that Molly never wanted to hear got her attention.
"Molly Milcher?"
Molly turned to see Verna to which Molly's face soured. Isaribi and the rest of the girls were not all too happy either to see her. Less so when the sound of Jamie's voice pierced their ears. If there was a look for a manchild, he was the poster child.
"Molly, I…"
"NO! A thousand names NO! I was being too nice to you so let me say it as blunt as possible. Fuck off and leave me alone! I've never had an interest in you because you're a degenerate motherfucker who's basically a younger fatter version of dad. You managed to rape my mom…but you didn't have the balls to go after my dad. Just leave me alone!" Molly said fuming as she spoke.
Her face was red from anger as she was shaking.
"You're really hot when you're mad, but come on, I'm sure you make it up to me by-"
CRACK! Tomoko smacked him with a pop fly swing to the face with her baseball bat sending Jamie to the ground, out cold. Before Verna could scream, Isaribi knocked her out with the butt of her pistol , sending her down to the group in a pile.
"Molly, want me to…." Isaribi said, before finding some keys. "Looks like they were traveling by RV. Looks like getting rid of them will be easy. Molly, I…"
"I'm fine. I just need to go back with Ruth and Jabari now. I could use time with them." Molly said as she left with Ruth. "Just get rid of them."
~TWG~
Jamie woke up on the floor of the RV before seeing sticky bombs all over the place with one stuck to his crotch. His last thoughts were a bit of a realization for about two seconds before seeing his unconscious mom.
"I can't believe mom didn't wear the tho-"
If the explosion did not kill him, the shredded pieces of metal would. A distance away, Isaribi and Tomoko would leave as Mirabel reported a 'gas explosion' to the police. Isaribi was having her advisory staff handle Jamie's laptop after she found some things that had truly sickened her. As far as the world knew, the gas tank was defective and combusted. Molly was at the Grapeseed home currently snuggled between Ruth and Jabari.
"Thanks guys. I really needed that…."
Her phone buzzed with a text from Jase, of all people, telling her to check her email. She called him, putting him on speaker.
"Mind explainin-"
She could clearly hear the sound of sucking and it did not take a lot to realize that it was Alex.
"You are lucky you got to be after I just got done having a 'snack'. But about my text. Mandy's looking to officially run with that nudist colony on the Northside of the state. I even learned the group's name, the Neutrinos. One of the recent new members is from Famer's Fields…and apparently has been seeking you out. Something about apologizing for her past acts…Mandy helped record a voice message…and she sent it to you. I'd check it out…I…" Jase said before groaning from the pleasure and hanging up.
Molly got to her email wondering who sent her the message.
"I'm going to bet on either Charlotte or one of her cronies." Jabari remarked.
"Charlotte? Really, that entitled little bitch." Ruth mused.
"Someone always was kinda off about her. Remember when Molly started hanging around us? She just stopped picking on her…compared to Gabirelle who kept freaking over it." Jabari said as Molly opened the email and played the message.
'Molly, this is Charlotte. Before you react, this isn't me asking for your forgiveness…I doubt you would be willing to do so. Nor do I feel I deserve it given all the terrible things I did to you. No, you deserve some answers and all the truth I can give as the reason I picked on you so much…was because you were what I was afraid of becoming. A doormat. I also had my fair share of issues within myself. You were not the only one dealing with family issues. My mother's a spineless doormat and my brother is about as rancid as my father and yours. My brother kept groping me…or really anyone in town. A few sexual assaults…all covered up. The only reason he never went after you was because I was bullying you. Because of my dad, I ended up being raped alongside by mother…it actually happened after you left town with them. I'm not going to go into detail but my dad pissed people off…ruined marriages, and two men wanted payback. We were just collateral. I guess you could call it karma for all the shit I put you through. After it happened, my mom was all smiles and acting like nothing happened, a report was never filed. "Boys will be boys". I was a mess…my brother not helping. When he made it clear that he wanted to fuck me…I ended up just leaving. My mom was too much of a doormat to stop him…and he was 'using' her already. They thought I'd come back in a few days, but I didn't. I left the state cutting ties with everyone in that town and had been hitchhiking ever since…until I ended up in San Andreas. I'm better…and I hope you get better too. It sickens me to think of my past behavior…I should have reached out. But I guess it's too late now.'
The message ended with Charlotte leaving a new number to call.
"Good grief…" Jabari said, mortified.
"Like what the fuck is wrong with that place? Seriously! I told you that place had a bad vibe to it!" Ruth said as Molly was quiet. "Molly, are you okay?"
"As angry as I was at Charlotte, I never would have wished that on her." Molly said. "Guys, I think I'm going to call for the weekend off…I need time to process this."
"I'm texting Nora that we need the weekend off." Jabari said already on his phone. "We're here for you."
"I know, but can I have some time alone? I could really use it." Molly said as Jabari and Ruth got up.
"Later then. Love you." Jabari said as Molly returned the gesture before they left.
Molly took off her coat and kicked off her shoes before shedding most of her clothes. If there was one comfort she was happy to have was being able to lounge around in her skivvies.

Farmer's Fields. An idyllic hard-working town from the outside, a complete cesspit on the inside rife with corruption and degradation. For Dana Angel, she was at her breaking point. Her deadbeat mother, the bills piling, their shitty apartment building getting worse, her shitty job getting worse, and her scumbag landlord…all wore her down. But it was coming home for a lunch break…coming home to the lunch she prepared and telling her mother not to eat…eaten. She found her mother passed out on the couch with a bottle of wine on the ground, empty.
It was a small action, but one that simply was the straw that broke her back.
Dana just broke, running up to her apartment roof…debating just jumping off the roof before out a screech. As she sat on a worn box trying to stop her crying, she looked at her phone. She wanted to talk to someone…but her hopes were thinning as she went through the contacts. Then Molly's name came on the bottom of the list…she remembered Molly leaving with two people she started hanging around. Jabari and Ruth. Dana remembered that when Molly left that she gave her….her new number. Dana had not called it at all…until now.
"Hello…"
"Molly, it's me…it's Dana. I can't take this shit anymore…I need help." Dana said, sobbing.
[Cues: J Dilla - Show Me What You Got Instrumental]
"Dana, stop crying and listen" Molly said seriously. "You want help, but you need to be willing to take it. You always go on about how much you hate Farmer's Fields, but you're always too chickenshit to make the step to leave. Then you end up in your depressed funk before starting some beef with Charlotte…speaking of which, she's left."
Dana was stunned.
"Hell, she even sent me a message…apologizing and admitting she was awful to me. If she can get the stones to leave, so can you. The question is…are you willing to accept help and take that step forward?" Molly asked earnestly.
Dana looked out into the distance before drying her tears.
"Yes."
"Good, first things first, I'm going to send you some money. So I need your bank number. You still use Bank of Liberty?" Molly asked.
"Yeah, had to make a new account though. Blame my bitch of a mom." Dana said before giving her the details.
Dana found, to her shock, twenty-five grand sent to her account.
"That should be enough to get you a ticket out of here…free of charge. However, I do have a job offer for you down here in San Andreas. The question I have to ask you is…are you willing to get your hands dirty?" Molly asked.
"You're in the…I'm sorry, you?! Miss Goody Two-Shoes?" Dana asked.
"Miss Goody Two Shoes died a slow and painful death living in that shithole of a town." Molly said plainly.
"Well…is the money good?" Dana asked.
"I was able to send you twenty-five grand with no issue, wasn't I? Even if you don't want to do the dirty work, my bosses got business you can work in if you want something legit. Either way, it pays far better than what you got going on for you here. If you want to come to SA, say the world and I'll have a plane ticket, first class." Molly said.
Dana was quick to say yes. She decided to think about what work she wanted on the plane ride there. Frankly, she was fed up with everyone…and decided she needed a change. And the first thing was getting out of this town. After Molly hung up, she went down to her apartment packing essentials namely her paperwork, a few clothes, and her underwear. She decided she'd buy a new wardrobe in San Andreas so she did not take most of her wardrobe. She wanted her mom to think she had not left town. With her duffel bag slinged over her shoulder, she immediately left for the door before looking back at her sleeping mom. She could have said something, but simply left her behind. As she was leaving…she ran into the landlord.
"Dana, you know rent's due-"
"Not my problem. I'm leaving town and I'm never coming back. You want your rent? My mom probably pissed it away partying. So go fuck her if you want to, you're never touching me again." Dana said, shoving him out of the way.
As she left the building behind, she promptly had a good time quitting her crappy job over the phone as walked along the road. It was going to be a trek to the airport in the neighboring city, but she didn't care. She was ready to show the world what she got. However, a phone call adds a bit of an extra snag.

[Music Ends]
Having settled in their hotel room at The Camel's Toe, Alex and Jase went all in on the tourist look with a semi-formal twist. Jase wore a dark blue leisure suit with a black Hawaiian shirt under it, a blue tie, black harness boots, and a black trenchcoat. Alex wore a blue Hawaiian shirt, a silver chain, and a pair of plain black leather pants, a blue belt with a silver belt chain, and black heeled boots. Jase affectionately slipped on her black women's trench coat on her body.
"I got a bucket list of things I wanted to do if I ever got to go to Las Venturas. I had to edit it because I'm married now…damn I never thought I'd even get that far. Hell, even with a kid on the way." Jase said, slipping on black fedora alongside a pair of silver aviators.
"I never thought I'd do this again." Alex said, putting on her own sunglasses. "But what's on the list?"
"Going to an auction." Jase said.
"Well that's…odd. Might I ask why?" Alex said.
"Because in LV, people lose stuff all the time, gambling…tax seizures…the works. The LV courthouse near the police station is having one today and if we hurry we'll get there before it ends." Jase remarked. "This'll be fun."
Alex chuckled, but given everything that's happened…she was more than willing to go along with it. Getting there was a mere cab ride away, but they would arrive to find the auction room finding a few people.
"Ladies and gentlemen, our next lot is number 751. 7-5-1. Do I have any bids?" The auctioneer said an older Italian man offered a dollar. "One buck, going once, going twice."
"Twenty dollars." Jase said as the auctioneer looked at him.
"Going once, going twice…"
The Italian man was trying to get his wallet out.
"Sold to the young couple!"
"What did I get?" Jase said handing over the twenty dollar bill.
"An abattoir in Whitewood Estates." The auctioneer said giving him the keys and the deed to the place.
"Sweet." Jase said.
"And moving on our last item…752." The auctioneer said.
"Anything special about it?" Alex asked.
"Yes, the asset is the last of C.R.A.S.H, a corrupt police group from Los Santos. The house-"
"20 bucks." Alex said.
"100. I doubt these Gen Z'ers have money to spare." The old Italian man said.
"Going once, going twice."
"2000." Alex said. "You take card?"
"There's a nearby ATM outside. Going once, going twice, sold to the young lady." The auctioneer said as Alex swiftly paid for it. "Here's the deed and the key. And that's the last of our items today."
As the couple left, they were confronted by the old man.
"It would wise for you to not to hold onto that abattoir…wouldn't be safe for you and-"
"Sarebbe saggio che tu non facessi minacce su di noi, vecchio. E noi siamo millennial, coglione!" Jase said as the old man balked watching them go.
"You know he's likely a mobster…" Alex said.
"Yup." Jase said nonchalantly. "Likely the same mooks bothering Cue Ball."
(A/N: Looks like Alex and Jase getting into their own adventure in Las Venturas, our C-plot. Moving on, as of developing this chapter, GTA IV has turned 15 years old. And San Andreas is soon to turn 20 years old next year. Now I feel old, but I'll be returning to more Isaribi flashback chapters. Next, the matter of Molly and company. Monkeycheese's canon is well…a rabbit hole, a dark one. The assault of Charlotte and her mother? That's canon and lifted from the comic he made called 'Cross My Heart', which my only alteration to it in TWG is that last page of the comic not happening. Basically, I'm playing all the messed up shit of that town…both straight and for horror. Because a town like that belongs in some horror game.)
