Hiccup faces his past
Normal POV
The hooligans were placed in the dungeon, minutes after Snotlout harassed the princess and were separated in two cells that were next to each other. Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut were in one cell while Stoick and Gobber were in the other. Right now, everyone was talking about how Hiccup was alive this whole time and that they still couldn't believe it. "I can't believe it. Hiccup has been alive this whole time and never bothered coming back?" Astrid asked.
"Yeah, and not only that. But he also befriended a Night Fury and I still don't get why he sided with the dragons." Fishlegs replied.
"You know what I still don't get. That how could Hiccup be able to get a beautiful princess to love him and not me!" Snotlout whined.
Well, if you didn't harassed the princess, we wouldn't be here!" The shieldmaiden yelled at the Jorgenson. "And come on, she isn't that pretty." She mumbled.
"Oh, is that a look of jealousy I see!" Tuffnut smirked.
"What are you talking about?" Astrid asked, confused.
"You're obviously jealous of her." Ruffnut answered with a smirk.
"What?! I am not!" Astrid replied back.
"You are totally jealous of that princess!" Tuffnut laughed.
"I am not!" Astrid shouted.
While Astrid and others were arguing, Stoick was having second thoughts about his recent encounter with his thought-to-be-dead son, Hiccup and knew that he really messed up again. When he said to himself that if would ever find Hiccup again, he vowed that he would never push him away again and be there for him like an actual father. But instead, the chief disowned his son, all because he was blinded by fury.
As Stoick was thinking to himself, Gobber saw this and grew worried. "You okay there, Stoick?" The blacksmith asked.
"I was a fool, Gobber. I promised myself that if I have found Hiccup, I'll be the father he needed. But instead, I pushed him away like he was nothing again." The chief answered. "What am I going to do, Gobber? Hiccup probably doesn't want me in his life, anymore." Stoick asked.
"I... I don't know how to answer that Stoick, but... maybe you should give him time. The lad might come around soon." Gobber replied.
"I hope you're right, Gobber." The chief said.
Hiccup's POV
Today was not a good day for me, not only I had find out who was harassing my girlfriend but managed to run into my former tribe. When I did, I went face to face with my father, only to be called a disappointment by him again.
Right now, I was sitting in the family room, frustrated with Elsa sitting by my side. "Why now? Everywhere I go, I still can't escape my past. So why now?" I asked.
"I don't know." Elsa replied, rubbing my back to keep me relaxed. "But this could be a perfect opportunity to face your past." She offered. I looked at her like she was crazy or something. I was about to ask why, but Elsa beated me to it. "Look, I know that you don't want to interact with them. But running away from your past won't fix it." The princess assured me. "I believe it's time for you to forgive the ones who gave you a horrible life, including your father." Elsa finished.
"I... I don't know, Els." I said, unsure of what my girlfriend was suggesting.
Elsa took both my hand in hers before facing me. "Listen, you want to make sure that the world is a safe place for all of dragon kind, right?" She asked me. I looked at her for a moment before nodding. "Then think of it, this way. If you can give them a chance, then you could show them the true nature of dragons and bring peace to the rest of your people as well." She explained.
I knew that Elsa had a point. That it was time for me to face me past and forgive the ones who tormented me. I then stood up and walked over to one of the walls before staring up at a painting of Agnarr and Iduna. "What would your parents want me to do?" I asked her.
Elsa then stood up and went behind me, before wrapping her arms around my waist, laying her head on the back of my neck. "My father was a very forgiving man. I think he would want you to forgive your people, including your father." She said quietly, before kissing that back of my neck. I then turned to face her as she smiled softly. "My mother once told me this 'Do not let the shadows of your past darken the doorstep of your future. Forgive and forget.' Life is too short, Hiccup. We both lost a father. But the man who raised you? He's still there. You still have a chance with him. He may not be perfect but you can still give him a chance to love you." She finished.
I thought about it for a moment before nodding. "Alright." I sighed.
"There's the Hiccup I know." Elsa smiled before giving me a kiss.
Normal POV
As the hooligans were sitting in the dungeons quietly, the doors to their cells caught their attention when they saw two guards opening them. "The prince has requested your presence, barbarians." One of them sneered.
The Berkians glared at the guard for a moment, but were more surprised that they were summoned by Hiccup himself. After they walked out of their cells, the guards gestured them to follow. 'What does Hiccup want with us?' Astrid thought to herself. When they arrived at the dining hall, the guards opened the enterance and gestured the hooligans inside. Once inside, they were in awe at how big the dining hall was. They then noticed that Hiccup inside as well, sitting in the center chair with princess Elsa sitting by his side. They also noticed that there was a strawberry blonde hair girl sitting next to the princess and a few unfamiliar faces, some they recognized.
When Hiccup's father was the last to enter the room, everyone, besides Hiccup and Elsa, went wide eyed as they were shocked by the height and size of Stoick. "Lerato Modimo." Mpho uttered to himself, saying 'my god' in tswana as he stared at Hiccup's father.
'That's Hiccup's father? He's huge.' Anna thought to herself before whispering in her sister's ear. "You never told me that Hiccup's dad was big." Anna whispered.
"I said the same thing to Hiccup." Elsa answered before shushing her sister so that her boyfriend can explain everything to his former tribe.
After he noticed that his former tribe was in the dining hall, Hiccup cleared his throat loud enough to catch their attention. "If your all wondering why you're all here, I have summoned you all to reveal the truth to you. But before I do that, I must ask." He told the berkians before asking the question. "Why are you here?" Hiccup asked. The hooligans looked at each other, trying to see who would speak up first. "I'm waiting." He said, impatiently.
Seeing that none of them would answer, Astrid decided to speak up. "We didn't mean to come here. You see, we got a message that the Bog Burglars tribe intvited us to convene a meeting of the chiefs." Astrid explained. "We were in the middle of sailing to our destination but we were set off course when a storm hit us, made us lose our map in the process. We've been stranded at sea for a week, thinking that we were lost. But when we found this place, we thought that we could get some help from here." She finished, seeing that Hiccup was still unconvinced. "But we had no idea that you were here, dating a princess and all." She finished.
After hearing enough from the explanation, Hiccup decided to let it slide. "Alright then." He replied, before hearing Astrid sighing in relief.
"Now that we've answered your questions, you now owe us an explanation about why you ran away!" Snotlout demanded.
"Watch your tone, Jorgenson. You have no rights to make demands here." Hiccup sneered. "Now sit down and shut up, or I'll have you thrown into the dungeon again." He growled, causing Snotlout to be quiet.
Stoick was taken back by his son's new personality and was trying to understand where it came from. This wasn't the fifteen year old viking he remembered. This was an eighteen year old man who rode on the back of a Night Fury and is now dating a princess.
"Now, the real reason why I ran away three years ago was because I was sick and tired of how I was treated by the very people who were supposed to be my tribe." The dragon rider explained. "But when I arrived here, I was welcomed with love and respect." He stated softly.
"But... you had everything you ever wanted, Hiccup. You were loved and respected." Astrid said now.
"It was all lies, Astrid. I had to kill the real me just so that I could please all of you and I hated it. I tried to throw the final test so that you could win, and I wouldn't have to kill a dragon." Hiccup explained. "I did all those things just to hide Toothless." He added.
"You mean the Night Fury?" Astrid asked.
"Yes, the Night Fury. But I would appreciate it if you called him by his real name." He corrected her.
"But... why?" Fishlegs suddenly asked.
"Why what?" Hiccup replied.
"Earlier, you said that you wouldn't have to kill a dragon. Why?" The Ingerman questioned.
Hiccup sighed before speaking. "You all remembered when I told you shot down a Night Fury but you didn't believe me?" The former viking asked, only for the Berkians to nod in reply. "I shot down Toothless." Hiccup simply stated.
"You mean..." Fishlegs gulped.
"Yes... Toothless was the Night Fury I shot down. After I shot him down, I went to look for him and found him off Raven point, all tangled up. I thought he was dead, turned out he was still alive. In that moment, I was going to kill him but... I couldn't." Hiccup began.
"Why not?" Astrid asked.
"Because... he looked frightened as I was. I looked at him and I saw myself." He explained calmly. "Instead, I set him free and he tackled me down. At first I thought he was going to kill me but instead, he spared me." Hiccup finished.
"It's... unheard of for a dragon to do such a thing. Especially a Nigh-I mean... Toothless." Fishlegs corrected himself.
"I know. After we trained with the Gronckle the next day, Gobber said that a dragon would always go for the kill." The prince said while gesturing to his former mentor. "It left me confused on why the Unholly Offspring of Lightning and Death itself let me live. When I went back to the crash site, I followed a trail that led me to a hidden cove where I found Toothless, trying to escape. But I then noticed he couldn't because when I shot him down, his left tailfin was torn off and I felt guilty about that." Hiccup told them.
"So... what happened next?..." Ruffnut suddenly asked.
"Frankly, nothing happened that day. I drew him, dropped my pencil, and he saw me again. We just looked at one another curiously." The prince chuckled before becoming serious. "But the real moment that started it all was when you, Astrid... told me to figure out what side I was on the day we faced the Nadder in training." Hiccup said as he looked at his former crush.
"M-me?" Astrid questioned quickly.
"Don't you remember? You said to me 'is this some kind of joke to you? Our parent's war is about to become ours. Figure out what side you're on.' Considering what you said to me, I returned to the cove and this is what happened." He stated before explaining what happened in the cove back then.
-Flashback-
After finishing with training that day, Hiccup returned to the cove with a shield in front of him. Once he was at the entrance, he stopped before peaking to see if the Night Fury was in sight and tossed a fish. Seeing that the fish didn't get the dragon's attention, Hiccup proceeded to enter the cove but managed to get the shield stuck in the process. After trying to unwedge the shield, Hiccup ducked down to the other side and tried to get it free but failed. Leaving the shield behind, the viking picked up the fish and walked around the cove, trying to find the dragon that was trapped there.
After getting the feeling that he was being watched, Hiccup turned and gasped as he saw the Night Fury crawl from a large rock to the ground before facing him with a growl as if he was ready to pounce. Once Hiccup nervously offered the fish, he watched as the dragon cautiously walked toward him.
As the Night Fury was just about to take the fish, he backed up and became aggressive when he spotted Hiccup's dagger.
After seeing the dragon becoming aggressive, Hiccup proceeded to take his dagger, only to earn a growl from the beast. In fear, Hiccup carefully took the dagger from his belt and dropped it to side. When the dragon gestured him to throw it away, the viking picked it up with his right foot and tossed it in the water. Once the dagger was out of site, the dragon become calm again and sat down like a cat. Once Hiccup knew it was safe, he offered the Night Fury the fish again and watched as he walked towards him carefully. As the dragon got near, he opened its mouth, only to reveal that he was literally toothless.
"Huh, toothless. I could've sworn you had..." Before he could finish, the dragon, now known as Toothlees, popped his teeth out and clamped down on the fish, causing Hiccup to yelp before he watch black dragon swallow the fish whole. "Teeth..." He simply said. Once satisfied, the Night Fury turned his attention on Hiccup and began approaching him, causing the boy to fall on his bottom and back up against a small boulder. "Ah, ah, uh, uh, no, no, no. Uh, I-I... I don't have any more." He pleaded.
When the dragon was staring at the boy, he began hacking before he regurgitates half of the fish on Hiccup's lap. "Ew." The viking heir said in disgust. After that, the dragon then sat on his hind legs before staring at the boy. Once Hiccup pulled himself together, the two of them continued to stare at each other awkwardly. When the Night Fury looked down at the fish and back at him, Hiccup did the same thing before sighing to himself, knowing that the dragon wants him to the fish. Once he brought the half eaten fish to his face, he took a bite out of it, trying to ignore the disgusting taste of the dragon saliva. "Mmm..." Hiccup said, pretending to like it. "Mm-hmm." He showed the fish to the dragon. The Night Fury then did a gulp, telling the boy to swallow it. When Hiccup saw this, he had no choice but to swallow the fish, almost throwing up in the process. After that, the boy then smiled at Toothless who studied his smile before mimicking with a gummy smile, which shocked Hiccup in the process. Hiccup was about to touch the Night Fury but when the Toothless saw this, he growled and glided away to another spot to rest.
Once the dragon was done warming up his spot, he heard chirping above him and spotted a bird in its before flying away. After he saw the bird was gone, Toothless then noticed Hiccup was sitting next to him. Ignoring the boy, the black dragon block the viking with his tail fin before falling asleep. When Hiccup tried to get closer to the Night Fury, Toothless lifted up his tail, only to see the viking boy walking away before he did too.
Later, the Night Fury just woke up from his nap while hanging upside down from a branch and saw the human sitting on a small rock, doing something. Hiccup was using a stick to draw Toothless in the dirt. When the dragon saw what Hiccup was doing, he then had an idea and walked away before grabbing a large branch to draw scribbles in the ground, whacking Hiccup in the head during the process. Once he was finished, the dragon was proud of his work while Hiccup was shocked about it. When the viking was about to take a closer look, he stepped on one of the lines, causing Toothless to growl at the human. When Hiccup saw this, he quickly lifted up his foot, which caused Toothless to calm down before purring. Hiccup did this two more times which caused the dragon to growl again and again until he stepped over the line, allowing Toothless to remain calm. Hiccup smiled, knowing that the dragon was sensitive about his work before he carefully walked over more lines.
When Hiccup felt a presence behind him, he turned around and saw Toothless sitting there, staring at him. As he reached his hand out, the dragon slightly turned his head away while growling. Hiccup brought his hand back and turned his head away with his eyes closed before reaching his hand out again. When Toothless saw this, he realized that this boy different from the other vikings and simply placed his snout in the boy's hand, giving him his trust. Once Hiccup felt something scaly against his palm, he turned and was shocked to see Toothless' snout in his hand. Once the dragon brought his head back, he just simply snorted before walking away, leaving Hiccup to ponder about what just happened.
-Flashback end-
The hooligans were beyond shock from what Hiccup had told them about Toothless and they continued to listen as Hiccup continued. "On the night Gobber told us that a down dragon is a dead dragon, it made me realize why Toothless couldn't escape the cove, because his left tail fin was gone when I shot him down. I went to the forge after everyone left for the night to redraw the tail and went to work. After a few hours working with various pieces of metal and leather, I managed to finish it. A perfect prosthetic tail for Toothless. When I went to the cove to test the tail the next day, it failed. But after several attempts, we nailed it." Hiccup explained. "What I didn't know is that all the testing would teach me so much, like dragons don't like eels. That they like both a specific type of grass called dragon nip and shiny things, or that they have a pressure point on their necks or under their chins that puts them in a peaceful state of paralysis. That's what made me so popular in the village, no longer the screw up rather the dragon tamer instead." Hiccup finished.
"And that led you to be chosen to kill your first dragon in the ring?..." Snotlout asked all of a sudden.
"Yes. But I knew I couldn't. Instead, I wrote three letters before leaving on Toothless." Hiccup replied. "But after five days of traveling, a bolt of lightning took out Toothless' tail and we crashed landed in the courtyard. When I woke up, Anna here, was there to greet us." He said, gesturing to Anna. "Not long after that, her parents, the now late king and queen of this kindom, came out with guards who threatened us and after I unsured them that Toothless wouldn't hurt anyone, the king said that they wouldn't harm us if I cooperated with them. I agreed." Hiccup explained before continuing. "After I told them everything, they told me I could stay in exchange of helping their oldest daughter and Anna's older sister, Elsa because she was different like me." The prince finished as Elsa grabbed his hand, making Astrid jealous while the other Berkians confused.
"When I met Elsa the next day, we became best friends which also led me to form a crush of her, not knowing that she was crushing on me as well. After we got to know each other, I got her to meet Toothless and shown her how amazing dragons can be, which started my new life here." Hiccup smiled. "One month later, I decided it was time for me to let go of my past by returning the all the things took with when I left Berk. With Elsa's and her family's support, we sailed back to the archipelago and managed to run into Trader Johann who was shocked to see." Hiccup was about continue but was interrupted.
"Wait, Trader Johann?! That annoying weasel?!" Snotlout exclaimed.
"Yes." Hiccup groaned before shushing Snotlout again. "Anyway, after I explained everything to Johann, he offered to return the basket to Berk himself and promised that he won't tell anyone about me or Toothless, which I later agreed after Johann led us to a nearby island to rest." The dragon rider said.
"Wait, you gave Johann your basket?" Tuffnut blinked.
"Yes." Hiccup replied.
"But... he claimed that he found it washed up on another island." Fishlegs said.
"That's because I asked him to tell you that." Hiccup groaned as he was starting to annoyed with all the questions.
"But... why?" Astrid questioned.
"To make sure that none of you wouldn't find me! Would you let me finish!?" Hiccup shouted in frustration, causing the Hooligans to be quiet. Just before he could do anything more reckless, Hiccup felt his girlfriend grabbing his hand and turned to see her worried with a 'calm down' look on her face. The dragon rider took a deep breath slowly and exhaled, calming himself down. Once he was relaxed, Hiccup turned to Elsa, nodding to her that he was calm and she nodded back in reply before letting go of his hand. Hiccup then turned to face his former tribe before continuing. "As I was saying, after we settled on the island Johann led us to, me and Elsa went on a flight with Toothless to help us ease off a bit, but our peaceful moment was interrupted when something caught Toothless' attention and pulled him, along with us, towards it. Then, out of nowhere, more dragons started showing up as well." Hiccup explained. This part of the story soon caught the Berkian's attenion, including Stoick's. "As we got a clear view of where we were heading, the dragon's lead us to was what you guys have been looking for... the nest." The prince finished.
"You've been to the nest?" Stoick suddenly asked.
"Yes." Hiccup replied quickly. "But when arrived, there was something else there. It was a dragon like nothing you've never seen and I watched it eat a Gronckle whole." He said, still traumatized about the memory. The hooligans looked at one another in confusion before looking back at Hiccup. "We called it the Red Death and it was the reason why the raids kept going." Hiccup stated.
"The Red Death?" Snotlout questioned.
"What else was I supposed to call it?" Hiccup asked the Jorgenson who was about to answer but stayed silent. "That's what I thought. Anyway, this dragon was like nothing I had never seen before and it was the size of a mountain with six eyes, a mace like tail, and huge gigantic wings." He said, causing Fishlegs to whimper in fear from hearing this.
"Cool." The twins said at the same, causing the Berkians, including Hiccup, to roll their eyes at the two mutton heads.
"So after I informed Elsa's and Anna's parents about the nest, they offered to help me take down the Red Death in order to free the dragons from its tyranny." The dragon rider said. This surprised the hooligans about how the former heir of Berk attemped to take down a dragon the size of a mountain. They then stayed quiet so they can hear what happened next. "After we got prepared, we sailed back to the nest and forced the dragon to come out. It took us a while to take it down but me and Toothless managed to win the battle and were able to free the dragons." Hiccup stated before he frowned while looking down at his leg. "But it costed me my leg." He said before he brought up his prosthetic leg for the hooligans to see.
The Berkians were shocked by the fact that Hiccup was missing a leg and didn't notice it before. "Beard of Thor, Hiccup! What happened to your leg!?" Gobber gasped.
Hiccup sighed. "It was badly infected after Toothless saved me and it had to be amputated before it could get worse. I was in a coma for three weeks but I managed to make it through." Hiccup explained before smiling. "But losing my leg actually helped me gain the best thing I could ever ask for." He chuckled which made the hooligans a little curious by what he meant. "I managed to gain... the love of my life." Hiccup smiled, looking at Elsa who smiled back at him, lovingly.
The Berkians were mostly surprised that Hiccup managed to win a princess' heart but only two were jealous by this. That being Astrid and Snotlout. For Snotlout, the stocky Jorgenson was incredibly jealous that his cousin had a princess for a girlfriend. But for Astrid, the shield maiden was angry and jealous that a princess got to Hiccup first, but was also sad that she would never be with Hiccup... ever.
"I also forgave Toothless for losing my leg because I kinda deserved it for taking his tail fin. Plus, it make us look like a matching duo now." Hiccup chuckled before clearing his throat. "Anyway. One month later, Elsa and her family wanted me to celebrate their favorite holiday with them and I accepted. That holiday was called... Christmas." Hiccup sighed as he and Elsa smiled together, both remembering the good memories they had that time of year.
"Christmas?" Ruffnut questioned, not understand what this so called 'Christmas' was.
"It's kind of like Snoggletog but different." Hiccup answered, causing the Berkians to understand. Hiccup told Elsa and her family about Snoggletog once and the name sounded stupid to them. Hiccup agreed on that part. "As I was saying, they all gave me lots of gifts on Christmas Eve and I gave Elsa something that will keep us together, forever." He said before smiling at Elsa again.
Astrid was both confused and worried of what Hiccup said. "W-what did you give her?" She asked.
The prince gestured his girlfriend to show them the betrothal necklace he gave her for Christmas. "He gave me the greatest gift I could ever ask for... this betrothal necklace." Elsa said, pulling out the necklace for the Berkians to see.
The hooligans were speechless that their former heir was betrothed to the princess. But for Stoick, the chief was beyond shocked that his son has given the princess the very same necklace he gave to his late wife, Valka, all those years ago. "You had it this whole time?" He asked, facing his son.
"Yes, father." Hiccup replied. "I took it with me in case I found someone I wanted to spend the rest of my life with." He explained. "And that someone... was her." The dragon rider said, looking at Elsa who was just smilling at him. "I gave it to this beautiful princess because she was the one that captured my heart... and I love her for it." Hiccup smiled back.
"I'm glad I did because having you in my life is the best thing that has ever happened to me, my love." Elsa replied as they stared at each other lovingly.
The whole room had gone quiet as they watched the two love birds as they kept staring at each other in love trance. Tuffnut was the only one that noticed that everything was quiet and decided to break the silence himself. "You know, I always thought that Snoggletog had a stupid name to begin with but Christmas?! That name sounds the worst!" Tuffnut explained, only to see that all the Arendellians were glaring at him, including Hiccup. "What?" The male thorston asked with confusion.
Then out of nowhere, an enraged Anna climbed onto the table before tackling the male twin down and started strangling him, shocking everyone in the process. "ANNA!" Elsa shouted as everyone rushed over to stop the younger princess before she does anything more reckless.
"YOU TAKE THAT BACK! YOU TAKE THAT BACK!" Anna screamed as she repeatedly slammed Tuffnut's head on the ground multiple times. The male Thorston couldn't do anything but gag as he was pinned down by the strawberry blonde haired princess while his sister laughing at him which was not helping at all.
"Anna stop! What are you doing?!" Elsa shouted as both Tobias and Henry tried to pry her sister off of Tuffnut.
"He insulted our favorite holiday, Elsa. I won't allow him to do that!" Anna replied. After a couple of seconds, they finally managed to pull Anna off as she tried free herself so that she can continue her assult on Tuffnut.
The male Thorston was coughing and hacking hard as he tried to catch his breath. "OH, I AM HURT! I AM VERY MUCH HURT!" Tuffnut shouted while in pain.
"Anna! Why would you do that?" Elsa questioned her little sister.
"To teach him a lesson for what he said about our favorite holiday." Anna replied as she kept struggling.
"Yeah?! Well, your holiday sounds stupid anyway!" Tuffnut exclaimed, which only made the strawberry blonde haired girl angrier.
"Why you...!" Anna yelled but was cut off by an annoyed and irritated Hiccup with one of his eyes twitching.
"ENOUGH! Both of you! Knock it off!" He shouted, breaking up the two.
"He started it." Anna complained, pointing at Tuffnut.
"I don't care who started it. I'm ending it." He replied before taking a deep breath. As he became calm once again, Hiccup then turned to face Kai. "Escort them to the guest rooms, I've had enough for right now." He ordered while gesturing to the hooligans.
"Yes, your highness." The advisor bowed before he and a pair of guards went to escort the Berkians. "This way. Come along now." Kai gestured them to follow.
"She got you good." Ruffnut smirked at her brother.
"Oh shut up, Ruff." Tuffnut replied.
Once the Berkians were out of sight, Hiccup then sighed to himself and pinched the bridge of his nose as if he had a migraine. "I'm sorry, Hiccup. I wasn't even thinking." Anna apologized quickly as she didn't want to be yelled at by her sister's boyfriend.
"Don't worry about. Just... think before you do something crazy again." He groaned as Elsa came by his side.
"You okay, love?" She asked as she held his arm, worriedly.
"I... I don't know, Els? I need some time alone right now." Hiccup sighed before walking out of the dining hall. Once he was out of sight, Elsa became more worried about her beau and wanted to comfort him but decided to respect his wishes.
-Later that night-
Elsa's POV
It's been hours since Hiccup left to have time to himself and I decided that it was time to check up on him. I was making my way to see if Hiccup is in his room and before I could, I noticed that the door to the family room was slightly opened and that there was light flickering in there. I quietly went over to see what was going on and silently opened the door, only to see Hiccup in there alone, sitting in front of the fire place as he stared down at the flames. As I made my way towards him, I noticed his back was facing me and that he was only wearing his white bottoned up shirt. Once I was behind him, I decided to call out to him to let him know of my presence.
"Hiccup?" I called out, causing him to turn around to face me. Once I got a better view of him, Hiccup looked like he was in a rough shape. He had a tired expression on his face, his hair was even more messier, and his shirt was unbottoned.
"Elsa? What are you doing here?" He asked me.
"I was just coming over to check up on you." I replied. "Are you okay?" I asked in a worried manner.
"I... No." My boyfriend sighed as sat back down.
I then made my way over and sat beside him. "You wanna talk about it?" I asked.
Hiccup looked down for a moment before he started explaining. "I.. I don't even know if I can do this, Elsa. I spent most of my life running away from my problems instead of facing them and I just did that today when I tried to talk with my former tribe." He explained to me. "I don't know what to do." He added.
"Well, at least you tried." I told him, trying to lift up his spirits.
"Yeah, but look where that got me." Hiccup told me. "Maybe my father was right about me back then. Maybe I am a disappointment." He sighed in defeat.
After I heard him say that, I grasped his head with both of my hands and made him face me. "Hey! Look at me. You are not a disappointment." I exclaimed. "You are the smartest, sweetest, and the most talented person I know, Hiccup... and I love you for it." I remined him which helped cheer him up a little.
"Well... don't forget the Handsomest." Hiccup smirked.
"Well, that too." I giggled before becoming serious. "But listen, no matter who you are. I will always love you." I said, causing him to smile.
"Thanks Snowflake. I actually needed that." Hiccup replied.
"I'm glad I could help, my love." I smiled before pecking him on the lips.
"So... what do you suggest I do, then?" He asked me all of a sudden.
"Well, why not give them a tour of the kingdom tomorrow?" I suggested. "I mean... think of it as a way to help face your past and maybe even try to forgive them." I added.
Hiccup sighed for a moment answering. "Maybe that's... not a bad idea actually. I think it's time for me to stop running from my problems and let go of the past." He replied.
"That's the Hiccup I know." I smiled
Hiccup smiled in return for a couple seconds before he spoke up. "So, what about you? Are you doing okay?" He asked me.
"To be honest, I'm actually scared." I sighed.
"Of what? The coronation?" He asked softly.
I shook my head. "No. I'm nervous about that part." I answered.
"What are you scared of then?" My boyfriend asked again.
I took a deep breath before telling him why. "I'm scared that everyone will reject me and call me a monster if I accidentally lose control of my magic." I revealed while looking down in fear.
Before anything could happen, I felt Hiccup take my gloved hands into his and it helped me calm down a little. "Elsa, look at me." He instructed me as I did what he said. "Listen, you have nothing to fear, Elsa. Nothing will go wrong. I'll even be right beside you the whole time." He said to help ease my worries away.
"You promise?" I asked.
"I promise." Hiccup replied.
"Okay." I nodded as Hiccup continued.
"And when the time comes, we'll reveal your magic to the whole kingdom properly and maybe they'll reject you, maybe they won't." My boyfriend suggested, making me a little worried at the thought. "But the point is that no matter what they think of you, they'll accept you as their queen. If they accepted me and the dragons, then they'll accept you and see your gift as a blessing as much as I do." Hiccup ensured, making me smile once again.
"You really think so?" I asked.
"Absolutely." Hiccup replied.
I just sat there, still smiling and lost in thought of what he said. Then out of no where, an idea popped in my head. "Can you uh... lean your head back for me?" I asked him. Hiccup replied with a smile before leaning his head back, like I requested. I then slowly got up, making my way behind him again and just stood there, looking down at him. As we were smiling at each other, I bent over and cupped both of his cheeks, kissing him passionately which he returned. As we kept our little love session going, I then removed my gloves and snaked my arms down his chest, making Hiccup shudder at my cold touch. My fingers then traced over the scar on Hiccup's upper chest. The very same scar that he recieved from Mor'du when we were visting the kingdom of DunBroch and it was one of many things I loved about him.
After a more seconds of making out, we finally pulled away to get some air and just started at each other while blushing. "I love you." My beau said to me.
"I love you too, Hiccup." I replied with a smile before we resumed. As we kissed again, we were unaware that someone was watching us from the outside of the room.
Normal POV
The person that was watching Hiccup and Elsa was none other than Astrid Hofferson. The shieldmaiden was just walking through the halls to get some water and when she spotted the two in the family room, she decided to get a closer look by hiding behind the door way. As she overheard most of their conversation, Astrid gasped at the sight of them kissing and became heartbroken when she heard them say 'I love you' to each other before they resumed kissing.
'I'm too late... Hiccup... loves her... and she loves him.' Astrid thought as she pulled away from the door and walked away with tears in her eyes. 'I'll never be with him now.' She thought again.
-The next day, early morning-
As the hooligans were asleep in the guest rooms they were given, they were suddenly woken up by the sound knocking. As they were informed on why they were waking up so early, most of them groaned as they were exhausted. The only one who didn't come out of their room was Snotlout for he just ignored the knocking and just stayed in bed. Soon, after another sound of knocking came, the door to his room was opened to reveal Kai who was trying to see why the stocky boy was not answering. "Mr. Jorgenson. You are to come to the dining hall for breakfast, by prince Hiccup's request." The adviser informed the Jorgenson.
"Well... go tell prince Hiccy that he can kiss a Yak's hide for all I care." Snotlout said with a sleepy voice before falling back asleep. Eyes twitching and irritated by this, Kai left the room for a few seconds, only to come back with a bucket of water in his hands. Once the adviser dumped the water the sleeping Jorgenson, Snotlout jolted up wide awake with a yelp. "AAAHHH!" The mutton head screamed before facing the one responsible for dumping water on him. "What was that for?" Snotlout demanded.
"Dining Hall, now. I will not repeat myself." Kai said with a stern look before leaving.
The Jorgenson growled at himself as he get up and went to catch up with the others as they were being lead to the dining hall. Once they made it, the hooligans were surprised by the large amount of food that was placed on the dining table. The food was consisted of bacon, eggs, french toast, chocolate chip pancakes, sausages, cinnamon rolls, and orange juice. The Berkians have never seen food like this before and were actually curious about it, especially Snotlout. As they were led to their seats, they were then told not to touch the food and wait until the royals were present. As they were waiting, Gobber turned to Snotlout and saw that he was all wet and dripping all over. "What in helheim happened to you?" The blacksmith questioned.
Before he could answer, Snotlout saw that Kai appeared out of nowhere and noticed that the adviser was giving him a foreshadowing look. "I uh... fell into a puddle." He lied.
"Oh you should be more careful." Kai simply said. After a couple minutes of waiting, the Berkians then turned to see Hiccup, Elsa, and Anna walking in and watched as the three royals took their seats at the dining table.
The former heir of Berk noticed the confused glances his former tribe was giving him and knew that they wanted an explanation on why they were woken up so early. "If you're all wondering why I had requested for you to be here this early, then you need to pay close attention." Hiccup said before he started explaining. "After my girlfriend talked some sense into me last night, I realized that have to stop running from my problems like I did yesterday and let go of what happened in the past. By doing that, I decided to give you all a chance and try to forgive you." He explained. The hooligans then looked at each other in glee that Hiccup was giving them a chance to make up for what they did to him the past, especially Stoick. "But know this, if any of you crosses the line again, you will lose my trust. Understand?" Hiccup warned as they nodded. "Good, now eat up. After breakfast, I'll be giving you a tour of Arendelle." The dragon rider said. The hooligans then dug into the food that they put on their plate and started to love the new taste that they never had before, especially Snotlout.
-Time skip-
After seeing everyone had finished their food, Hiccup then turn to Kai and the guards before giving them an order. "Escort them to the court yard. I'll be there in a little bit." Hiccup requested.
"Yes, your highness." Kai and the guards bowed before turning to fave the Berkians. "Come along now." The adviser gestured them to follow.
Before they could leave for the court yard, Hiccup called out for Gobber and Fishlegs to stay, making the two Berkians look at each other in confusion on why Hiccup wanted them to stay. As he watched the two making their way over to him, Hiccup turned to Elsa to ask something. "Can you and your sister wait outside with the others, I have to speak with these two?" He asked her.
"Of course." Elsa replied, giving her lover a quick peck on the lips before she and her sister left with the others.
After he watched everyone leave the room, Hiccup then looked at Gobber and Fishlegs before gesturing them to sit. Once they were seated, the two Berkians look at Hiccup nervously with a questionable look. "If you two are wondering why I ask for you two. The truth is that... I'm actually glad to see you two again." Hiccup smiled.
Before any of them could say anything, Gobber all of a sudden jumped out of his seat and pulled Hiccup in for a bonecrushing hug and almost started crying. "Oh lad! I've missed you so much!" The blacksmith blubbered a bit.
Hiccup couldn't help but laugh a little. "I've missed you too, Gobber. Could you let me go now? You're crushing me." He winced before his former mentor finally let him go. Before he could even take a breath, Hiccup was pulled into another tight hug, from Fishlegs this time.
"Hiccup! I'm so happy to see you again!" The large Ingerman exclaimed happily.
"Fishlegs... can't... breath." Hiccup reminded, struggling to breathe.
"Sorry!" Fishlegs replied before releasing him.
"I'm happy to see you too, Fishlegs." Hiccup said, gasping for air. Once he had air back in lungs, Hiccup looked at the two Berkians that never gave him any problems in the past before speaking. "I'm sorry for sending you two in dungeon with the others. I was just so blind in my anger." Hiccup apologized.
"That's okay, lad. I had a feeling that you needed time to cool down." Gobber said with a smile.
"So this is where you've been, for three years?" Fishlegs questioned all of a sudden.
"Yeah, and a lot has happened since I arrived here." Hiccup replied.
"Like what?" The Ingerman asked curiously.
"Well... it might be best if we sit." Hiccup replied with a smile. Once seated, the dragon rider was ready to explain everything that he left out when he told the rest of the Berkians yesterday. "Alright, this is what happened..." Hiccup started.
After ten minutes of explaining everything to Gobber and Fishlegs of what he did in the last three years, the two were amazed of what Hiccup has done. He told them about how the dragons became a part of Arendelle after the Red Death, the time that he discovered Gronckle Iron, the time when he wrote his very own Book of Dragons, how he and the royal family formed alliences with dragon loving tribes in the archipelago, and how he became the teacher for the Arendellian dragon academy to teach those who want to learn how to ride dragons. When Gobber heard the part about Gronckle Iron, he stated that he wanted to know more about the metal and Hiccup said that they can do that during the tour. For Fishlegs, the Ingerman wanted to get his beefy hands on the Book of Dragons to learn about the new dragon knowledge Hiccup wrote down and was told by Hiccup that they can look through it together after the tour. The last thing that got both the Berkians attention was the dragon academy and they wanted to see what it's like to train dragons instead off killing them, making Hiccup chuckle in the process before adding that they can also do that during the tour.
Hiccup then stood back up and believed that it was time to start the tour. "Alright, I think it's time to meet up with the others. Wouldn't want to keep them waiting all day." Hiccup suggested.
"I agree. Lead the way lad." Gobber replied. Once they were ready, the three then headed to meet up with the others who were waiting in the court yard.
It's been ten minutes since everyone except Hiccup, Fishlegs, and Gobber left to wait in the court yard and most of them were either still waiting patiently or simply grew tired of waiting and started complaining. The ones who were still patiently waiting was the Arendellians and the ones who were starting to grow impatient was the Berkians. The only Berkian that was not becoming tired of waiting was Snotlout, for he was thinking that since he was unable to hit on Hiccup's girlfriend, Elsa, he thought that he might have a chance with her sister, Anna. After thinking to himself for at least a couple of minutes, the Jorgenson decided to make his move. Once he was right beside the strawberry blonde haired princess without her noticing, he got her attention by whistling at her. "Hey, I'm Snotlout. What do you say we get to know each other a little more closely after the tour, if you know what I mean?" He smirked while wriggling his eyebrows.
Anna was both unamused and creeped out by this kid and since she couldn't do anything reckless to him like she did with Tuffnut yesterday, Anna decided to do the one thing she could think of. "GUARDS!" The young princess called out, making the Jorgenson widen his eyes in fear.
"Oh no." Snotlout uttered before he was tackled to the ground by a guard as two more piled themselves on top. The sight of this got on everyone's nerves as if they had enough of Snotlout's stupidity, except for the twins who were laughing at the situation that the Jorgenson was in. As this kept going on, the sound of someone clearing their throat caught everyone's attention and saw Hiccup standing there, arms crossed and a serious look on his face, with Gobber and Fishlegs standing behind him.
"What is going on here?" He questioned everyone, expecting an answer.
"Uh, nothing your highness." One of the guards said as he and the other two quickly got off of Snotlout.
Hiccup looked at them for a moment before staring down at his arrogent cousin who remained still, smiling sheepily at him. "You now what, I don't know. Let's just get this over with. Shall we?" He asked everyone as they all nodded at the same time. "Alright then." Hiccup simply before taking a deep breath. Once he pulled himself together, Hiccup then went over to where Elsa was standing and offered her his arm. "Mi'lady?" He asked with a smile.
"Thank you, my love." Elsa smiled in returned as she hooked her own arm around his.
Before they could even start, Hiccup turned to Kai before adressing him. "Kai, help assist the others with the preparation while we're gone" Hiccup requested.
"Yes, your highness." The advisor bowed before heading back inside to help with the preparations for Elsa's coronation.
"Alright, follow along and try to keep up." Hiccup said out loud before everyone started making their towards the village. As the kept walking, Hiccup leaned close to Elsa before whispering. "What really happened right before I arrived?" He asked.
"Your cousin tried to hit on my sister, only to be tackled to the ground by the guards, by her authority." She informed him, making her boyfriend sigh in annoyance.
"Of course." He groaned as he was getting tired of Snotlout's stupidity. "I'll have to deal with him later. Right now, let's just focus on the tour for now." Hiccup reminded.
"Agreed." Elsa replied as they continued leading the others, starting the tour in the process.
-Time skip-
The tour took about two and a half hours long and everyone was now heading back to the courtyard. The Berkians were mostly amazed by the many things the whole kingdom had because they never had most of this stuff of Berk. Hiccup even managed to show the Gronckle Iron and the Dragon academy to Gobber and Fishlegs just like he promised. The dragon rider could only chuckle as he remembered the shocked and amazed looks on the hooligans faces, mostly Gobber's and Fishlegs'. There were also some weird and awkward moments involved as well. For instince, when they arrived at the forge to see Gronckle Iron and meet both Henry and Mpho, Tuffnut immediately took a liking a Gronckle Iron mace he named Macey and starting treating it like it was a real person, which weirded everyone out, including Henry and Mpho. When they arrived at the dragon academy, the Berkians, mostly Gobber and Fishlegs, were amazed by the sight of people training feeding, and riding dragons. This caused the teens asking Hiccup if he could teach them to ride dragons, making Hiccup feel unsure about it.
Once everyone made it back to the courtyard, the Berkians starting gossiping about how they like the kingdom and what their favorite part of it was. For Hiccup, seeing this actually brought a smile, like he was ready to forgive them. When Elsa saw the happy look on her boyfriend's face, a smile appeared on her face as she became proud of Hiccup. 'I knew you could do it.' She thought.
As for Stoick, the tour actually made him change his view on dragons because of what his son showed him and the other Berkians. The tour had also made him notice the type of person his son really was and if he wanted to gain Hiccup's trust again, he should love him for who he truly is.
As everyone finished talking, Tuffnut turned to Hiccup. "So, what now?" The male Thorston asked.
Before the prince could speak, the sound of chirping caught his and everyone's attention as they looked up and saw a Terrible Terror descending towards them. Hiccup stuck his arm out for the little dragon to land and once it did, Hiccup noticed a rolled up note tied to the Terror's leg. "Oh, Terror mail." Hiccup smiled as he untied the note from the dragon's leg.
"Terror mail?" Snotlout raised an eyebrow.
"A little something I created. We basically send Terrible Terrors to carry messages to our allies and other kingdoms." The dragon explained, earning a gasp from Fishlegs.
"Hiccup, that brilliant." Fishlegs said in excitement.
Hiccup simply chuckled at Fishlegs' enthusiastic as he handed the Terror to Elsa before reading the message. As he read, his smile disappeared and was replaced with a look of seriousness. Elsa looked at her boyfriend and became worried. "Hiccup? What wrong?" She asked.
"It's from Mala. She said that she needs my help and it's urgent." He replied.
"Did she say want's wrong?" Elsa asked again.
"She didn't mention anything." He said before turning to the guards. "Get Toothless ready, immediately." He ordered.
"Yes, your highness." They bowed before rushing to the stables.
Elsa look at her boyfriend like he was crazy or something. "Hiccup, what are you doing?" She questioned.
"I have to help Mala." He answered before walking away to get himself ready.
Elsa quickly grabbed her beau's arm, stopping him in the process. "Hiccup, you can't." She said, making him look at her.
"What? Why?" He asked in confusion.
"I need you here. You promised that you'll be beside me on my coronation." Elsa remined.
"Elsa... Mala is one of our allies. I can't just ignore her." He responded. Elsa was about to speak, but Hiccup continued. "Listen, I know promised you that I'll be by your side when you become queen, but Mala needs my help." He said to her as she sighed. "Look, I promise you. I'll be back as soon as I can." Hiccup said, making her look at him.
"You promise?" She asked.
"I promise." He smiled.
Elsa sighed once before nodding. "Alright." She replied. Hiccup pecked her on the cheek before making his move. "Wait!" She shouted, causing Hiccup to stop in his tracks to look at her again. "Can you at least... have someone accompany you while you're out?" She suggested.
Hiccup thought about what she for a moment before making his decision. "Someone get Mpho, and have Viola ready as well." He called to the guards before heading back inside. After a few minutes of getting prepared, Hiccup made it back outside, only to see Mpho and Henry standing there with confused looks.
"Hiccup, the guards told us that you summoned Mpho. Is everything alright?" The Arendellian blacksmith asked.
"Everything is fine. Just need to borrow your apprentice for a few days." Hiccup responded
"What seems to be the problem?" Mpho asked.
"Mala needs help and I'm gonna need your help on this one." The dragon rider explained. "You think you can assist me?" Hiccup asked.
"I would be honored to help alongside you tsala." The former slave smiled as he bowed.
Hiccup smiled in return as they both walked towards the dragons. Once the dragons were ready, Hiccup climbed onto Toothless' saddle as Mpho did the same with Viola. "You remember the basics, right?" Hiccup asked.
"Of course." Mpho replied. Hiccup has been teaching Mpho the basics of dragon riding in case he ever found his own dragon and was usually the one that flies Viola every day since Agnarr's and Iduna's passing.
Just before they could fly off, Elsa grabbed onto Hiccup's arm, making him stop and look at her. "Do you have to go?" She asked her boyfriend in worry.
"You'll be fine, Elsa. I'll be back in a few days." He replied.
"That's what mother and father said and they never came back." She said to him.
"I'll be alright, Elsa. Besides, I'll have Toothless and Mpho with me." Hiccup reassured her.
"Alright." Elsa nodded before she pulled Hiccup into a deep passionate kiss which he returned. The sound of whistling and snickering coming from Tuffnut and Snotlout came in the background but the two love birds paid no mind to it. After it felt like thirty minutes, the two royals separated before staring at each other while blushing. "I love you." Elsa breathed.
"I love you too." Hiccup said in return before facing the guards. "Alert everyone of our departure and inform Kai and General Tobias that they're in charge while we're gone." He informed the guards who bowed before running off. "Ready bud?" Hiccup asked Toothless who just warbled in returned. "Let's go." He said they took off in the air, Mpho and Viola following along.
As everyone watch the two becoming smaller specks in the sky, the silence was suddenly broken when Tuffnut spoke up. "So... who's Mala." The male Thorston asked all of a sudden.
"Mala is one of our closest allies and is the queen of a dragon loving tribe called the Defenders of the Wing in the archipelago." Anna answered the questioned.
"A tribe of vikings that loves dragons. How come have we not heard of it?" Fishlegs asked in excitement.
Elsa paid no attention to everyone else and kept staring at the sky in the direction where Hiccup left. 'Be safe my love.' She thought to her self.
Hiccup's POV
After four and a half days of flying, resting, and eating, we managed to make it to the Island of Caldera Clay. The island was home to a tribe of dragon whorshippers called the Defenders of the Wing and was ruled by none other than Queen Mala. The island was consisted of an active volcano and inside of the volcano was a Boulder class called the Eruptodon, also known as the tribe's Great Protector because the dragon prevents the volcano from erupting on the island by eating the lava.
As we moved closer to the landing spot, we spotted Mala with her second-in-command Throk outside, waiting at the very same spot. The queen of the Defenders of the Wing was fairly tall with very short blonde hair with her fringe parted to the right, pale green eyes, and pale skin. Her outfit was very similar to the rest of her tribe, considering that they were all dressed like ninjas, except that it was longer with a Mandarin collar, gold lining on her tunic, boots, shoulder and arms guards, and rebraces. The tassets on the front of her garment was adorned with the Eruptodon symbol. Throk has long, red hair that is shaven in an undercut with a faint stubble of beard on his face and was very muscular. His outfit was consisted of a sleeveless green shirt with black shoulder pads and arm guards, dark green pants with black boots, and black armor like the rest of his tribe.
After we were able to land, me and Mpho got off of our dragons before we were greeted by Mala. "Thank the ancients you managed to arrive, Hiccup Haddock. I was not unsure if our message would get to you." Mala said to us.
"I've got your message, Mala. What seems to be the problem?" I asked with Mpho by my side.
"There's no problem at all, actually." The queen replied, taken me back.
"What do mean? You said you needed my help and that it was urgent." I replied to her, not undersatnding.
"Well yes, but... it was the only way I could think of to get you to come her." She explained.
Me and Mpho looked at each other in confusion before turning our gaze back towards Mala. "Alright Mala, I'm here. Tell me why we're really here." I replied, waiting for an explaination.
Mala looked at both of us like she was unsure how to answer. "It might be best if you two saw for yourselves." She said, gesturing us to follow.
Me and Mpho looked at each other again before following along. After following the queen of Cauldra Clay for like two minutes, she had managed to lead us to the destination which happens to be the healing center. As Mala opened the entrance to the healing center, she gestured for us to walk inside. Me and Mpho both gave her odd looks before walking inside. Once we were inside, I was looking over the whole place until my eyes landed on two unconscious figures laying on separate beds, making me gasp in shock. "How... is this... possible." I breathed out in disbelief, getting Mpho's attention as he followed my eyesight and gasped as well. The two uncounscious figures on the bed were none other then... Agnarr and Iduna.
Author's note: Hey guys, I bet you're all wondering why I didn't update months ago. You see, these past months have been rough for me. The main reason is I have autism and ADHD and I take Adderall to help me stay focus on my studies and on this story but my prescription has been back ordered multiple times due to the shortage of Adderall across the whole country. Luckily, I managed to get some at the pharmacy of a local Hyvee back in December. It was enough to help me get through this and most of my class.
Anyway, I hope you like this chapter because I did the best I could on this and I feel like I didn't come up with a title for the chapter. This has to be the longest chapter I've have ever done so far. I would also like to thank both HarryPlus2 and Mewx42 for the ideas you two came up with. You guys deserve all the credit. Also, I managed to fix the error that you mentioned from the last chapter HarryPlus2 and I've played Fall of Cybertron before on Xbox 360. Plus, I also got myself the new PS5 slim with a physical copy of Spider man 2 and both the system and the game are incredible. Anyway, I hope you guys like this chapter and would be grateful if you offered some ideas to help me with the next chapter.
