Jo and Camille depart to evade violating curfew. On Wednesday morning, Logan awakens feeling extremely fatigued and achy due to his shoulder, prompting him to swiftly consume his pain medication for relief. He sluggishly makes his way into the living room and proceeds to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, albeit with difficulty as he is utilizing only one arm.
"Logan, cease. You are bound to exert yourself," Kendall advises as he approaches. "Allow me to prepare your breakfast. You should rest on the couch."
"Very well, Kenny," Logan reluctantly sighs.
James, Carlos, and Katie strolled into the kitchen, their stomachs growling in anticipation of a delicious meal.
"What's up with Logan? Kendall, did you do something to him?" Katie inquired, her tone laced with concern.
"Whoa, why the suspicion? I found him struggling to make breakfast with just one working arm. I offered to help out and told him to take a break on the couch. That's all. Relax, Katie," Kendall explained.
"I'm just worried about him, that's all," Katie admitted.
"We all are, but he's not keen on us fussing over him," Kendall replied.
"Why not? We're his family. Shouldn't he appreciate our care and concern?" Katie questioned.
"Of course he does. It's just a bit more complicated than that," Kendall tried to explain.
"Just because I'm the youngest one here doesn't mean I can't understand. I'm not a little kid anymore. I'm mature enough to handle your teenage drama," Katie retorted, her arms crossed and a frown on her face.
"You are absolutely correct, Katie. I deeply apologize for underestimating your ability to comprehend the situation at hand," Kendall admits with a hint of remorse in his voice.
"I believe I can provide a clearer explanation," Logan interjects. "Please come closer, Katie."
Katie obediently moves closer and takes a seat beside him. "Yes?" she inquires.
"I have devised a method that I believe will enable you to better understand and come to terms with my predicament of not wanting everyone to worry about me. Do you recall when you turned five years old and suddenly considered yourself a grown-up, yearning to accomplish everything independently?" Logan asks.
"Yes," Katie responds.
"Children of that age often believe they no longer require assistance. They can feed themselves, dress themselves, and even use the restroom without the need for pull-ups or diapers. They experience a sense of self-reliance. Currently, due to my injury, I have lost my independence, which leaves me feeling frustrated and melancholic. I do not wish for everyone to cater to my needs when they are capable of taking care of themselves. Just like you, who still enjoys doing things independently, when your capabilities are doubted, it upsets you because it feels as though your independence is being threatened. Am I correct?" Logan explains.
"Yes, exactly. You feel helpless and burdened by the fact that you now require assistance for tasks you once accomplished on your own. I understand, Logan. I cherish my independence, and you have taught me that it is perfectly acceptable to seek help without feeling ashamed. Take your own advice," Katie responds empathetically.
Logan's face lights up with pride as he affectionately says, "That's my sweet Katie-Bear."
"Would you like to join us at school today?" James inquires.
"I'm not sure if I should. I don't want everyone to stare at my arm sling," Logan expresses.
"Miss Collins will ensure that everyone remains focused on the school lessons rather than on you," Kendall assures.
"I understand, but you know how some kids in the classroom can be. Some are overly concerned with appearances and can be judgmental," Logan explains. "None of them are as mean as Jett, but some have come close. I don't want to subject myself to any more ridicule."
"How are we supposed to handle Camille all day at school without you? She'll be a nervous wreck all day and then be angry at me for not convincing you to come to school. I can't handle your overly dramatic girlfriend for six hours straight today," Kendall complains.
"I can't change who she is, Kenny. That's just her quirky personality that you've been dealing with since the day you met her," Logan defends.
"You weren't too interested in getting to know her. You thought she was a strange theater kid," Kendall recalls.
"She is a strange theater kid," James interjects, suddenly joining their conversation.
Logan gives him a disapproving look. "James, we didn't ask for your opinion," he states.
"If you both want privacy, maybe you should take it to your room," James suggests.
"You shouldn't have interrupted us. It's just plain rude. We shouldn't have to leave because you don't like that we're talking without you," Kendall argues.
"I'm just trying to help," James defends himself.
"Let's stop fighting. I'll head to school," Logan decides.
"If you're not up for it, Logan, you don't have to go," Kendall reassures.
"We'll handle Camille," Carlos offers.
"Are you guys sure about this?" Logan questions.
"Yes," Kendall confirms.
