"Logan, thanks for the reminder about homework. Where's Katie? Is she done with hers?" Kendall inquires.
"She's relaxing in her room, playing games on her tablet. I assisted her with math, but she finished the rest of it on her own," Logan responds.
"Why do we even have to do homework? It's so dull," James grumbles.
"Don't whine, James. The sooner we get it done, the sooner we can enjoy activities like watching TV or playing video games," Kendall advises.
After a chorus of groans and sighs, James reluctantly takes a seat at the table. "Fine, fine," he relents, rolling his eyes.
Two hours later, Camille makes her way over to the group.
"Hey guys, did you manage to hide everything at Rocque Records?" Camille asks, a hint of nervousness in her voice.
"Cami!" Kendall exclaims, pointing towards Logan.
"What exactly did you hide at Rocque Records?" Logan inquires, his curiosity piqued.
"Um..." Camille stammers, feeling anxious that she may have ruined the surprise.
Logan lets out a sigh. "Even my own girlfriend is keeping secrets from me. What happened to trust being the foundation of our relationship? Now you're conspiring with Kendall, James, and Carlos. I feel so betrayed by all of you. None of you are willing to share anything with me."
"Logan, there's a very good reason for all of this," Camille tries to explain.
"I highly doubt that," Logan retorts, frustration evident in his voice as he stands up and sighs. "I need to lie down. My head is pounding so intensely that I'm starting to feel dizzy." He heads towards the bedroom he shares with Kendall.
"Wow, that was incredibly stressful. All we're doing is making him more anxious and suspicious. Sooner or later, one of us is bound to crack and spoil the surprise," Camille expresses her concern.
"We won't let that happen," Kendall reassures her.
"As long as he remains unaware of the truth behind our secrecy, he'll continue to be upset," Camille adds, her worry lingering in her words.
"We need to take action. Logan's extreme stress is detrimental to his health. It could potentially make him ill," Carlos expresses, starting to feel panicked.
"Take a deep breath, my friend. You're the best among us at lifting someone's spirits. You should be able to make Logan happy again, or at least bring a smile to his face," Kendall reassures.
"But how am I supposed to do that? He's really angry. It might not work," Carlos responds.
"You'll come up with something, Carlos. You're incredibly creative," Camille encourages.
"Thank you, my friend. When I was younger and had a tough day at school, I would come home feeling sad and unmotivated. So my Papi would share the funniest jokes he could think of, and we would laugh together for hours. It's one of my favorite things to do with him," Carlos shares.
"You truly have an amazing dad, Carlos. And maybe if you tell some funny jokes to Logan, you'll be able to make him smile and laugh," Camille suggests.
"D-Do you really think that will work?" Carlos nervously asks.
"Of course it will work. I know you and Logan share a very special bond. The connection between you two is different from the relationship you both have with James and Kendall. That's why you have that special nickname for him. Only call him Logie. He won't even let me call him that. This is a crucial mission that only you can handle," Camille emphasizes.
"Camille, your pep talk was amazing! I always thought only Kendall had that magic touch, but you've definitely got some talent too," Carlos exclaimed.
"Thanks, Carlos. Are you ready to go lift Logan's spirits?" Camille replied.
"Absolutely," Carlos said eagerly as he made his way to Kendall and Logan's room. "Hey, Logan, mind if I hang out with you?"
"Sure," Logan replied, looking down at his anatomy book with a forlorn expression.
Carlos settled onto Kendall's bed, a mischievous grin on his face. "How about some jokes to lighten the mood?" he asked.
"I'm just not feeling very humorous at the moment, Carlos," Logan remarks.
"Oh, well, uh...what's with the human anatomy book?" Carlos inquires.
"This isn't just any old human anatomy book. It's filled with information on both common and uncommon diseases that impact different parts of the body," Logan explains.
"Which diseases tend to affect most people?" Carlos wonders.
"There are too many to count," Logan replies.
"Ah, I see. It seems like you'd rather read in peace like you were before I interrupted," Carlos remarks, standing and beginning to leave the room.
"Wait, Carlos. I finally understand what you've really been trying to do all this time," Logan says.
"You do?" Carlos questions.
"Yes, you've been doing your best to lift my spirits," Logan acknowledges.
"I'm sorry, Logie. I tried my best and still fell short," Carlos laments.
"No, Carlos. You didn't fail at all," Logan reassures him. "I realize now that my lack of interest in your jokes earlier was a mistake. This injury has left me feeling down, unable to join you, Kendall, and James on any adventures. I shouldn't have taken it out on you. Please stay, I'm sure you'll enjoy my book."
"I understand your frustration, buddy. We all do. I'll stay, even though that anatomy book is probably full of words I can't pronounce," Carlos replies.
"I'll help you with that," Logan offers.
