"I find it rather audacious to manipulate Katie as a distraction so I remain unaware of your clandestine plans at Griffin's beach house," Logan remarks before heading over to where Katie awaits him on the sandy shore.
"He's using those fancy words again. We better get a move on with decorating for the party before he transforms into a walking thesaurus," Kendall suggests.
"Let's get going, everyone," Ms. Knight urges as they step inside the palatial beach house , taking in the opulent surroundings adorned with rare artworks and lavish furnishings. "What's first on the agenda for setting up the surprise bash?"
"We need to decide on the theme," Kendall responds. "We've settled on an outer space motif to pay homage to the solar eclipse we witnessed on Monday."
"Excellent choice," Ms. Knight approves.
Back at the beach...
"Hey Logan, let's see who can run the fastest along the beach!" Katie exclaims excitedly, taking off without any hesitation.
"Oh no, Katie! Slow down! Stay where I can see you! We're not familiar with this place!" Logan shouts as he chases after her.
Katie continues running until she accidentally collides with someone and falls on her behind. She looks up to find a young man holding a trash bag and a stick to pick up litter.
"Watch where you're going! Are you blind?" he rudely remarks.
"I'm sorry, I..." Katie begins to apologize but then realizes how impolite he was. "Hey, you can't talk to me like that! I bumped into you by accident! I didn't even know you were here! So how about showing some manners towards people who don't intentionally harm you!"
"You little twerp!" the young man retorts, stomping on her hand.
"Ouch!" Katie screams in pain, clutching her hand. "Why would you do that?! You jerk!"
In the distance, Logan can hear Katie's cries. "Katie, Katie!" he calls out, finally catching up to her, panting heavily. "Next time you want to race, please stay within my line of sight." He notices her holding her hand, on the verge of tears. "What happened? Are you okay?"
"No, I'm not okay! This guy stomped on my hand after I accidentally bumped into him. He called me a twerp and assumed I'm blind. He completely overreacted for no reason," Katie explains.
"What's your problem?! Do you think it's acceptable to bully little girls?" Logan angrily confronts the young man.
"I wasn't trying to bully her, I was just trying to teach her a lesson because she was rude to me," the young man explains.
"Teaching me a lesson? No way! You stomped on my hand just because I accidentally bumped into you. That's not teaching, that's being a jerk!" Katie screams.
"She's absolutely right. You've crossed the line," Logan interjects. "Why don't you just apologize and go back to whatever you were doing?"
"No, she's the one who should apologize for interrupting my work," the young man insists.
"I already told you, I had no idea anyone else was on this beach!" Katie yells.
"Well, then you're trespassing. Both of you are, and I have every right to call the police," the young man threatens.
"Don't do that! Don't you know who this is?! This is Logan Mitchell from Big Time Rush! That beach house belongs to the CEO of Rocque Records, Arthur Griffin! You do know your own boss's name, right?" Katie retorts.
"Of course I do, and I know all about Big Time Rush, but Mr. Griffin never mentioned that you would be here today," the young man responds.
"That's just like him. He has this annoying habit of not explaining important things to his employees. It really gets on my nerves when he does that," Logan adds. "By the way, what's your name?"
"Mason," the young man reveals.
"Nice to meet you, Mason. Now, please do the right thing and apologize to Katie," Logan insists.
"Yeah, I'm really sorry for overreacting, Katie. I shouldn't have called you names or stomped on your hand. Please find it in your heart to forgive me," Mason apologizes.
"You're lucky I've been taught to forgive when it's necessary. You don't seem as mean as you first appeared. You're actually a pretty decent person. Apology accepted," Katie forgives.
"Thanks, Katie. I can get you an ice pack for your hand. I know exactly where the first aid kit is," Mason offers.
"That would be really kind of you. Thanks," Katie appreciates.
"That's an excellent way to redeem yourself," Logan commends.
As Mason goes to get the ice pack, Logan turns to Katie and says, "See, sometimes people just need a second chance to show their true colors. I'm glad we were able to resolve this peacefully."
Katie nods in agreement, grateful for the unexpected turn of events. As Mason returns with the ice pack, the three of them sit down on the beach and start chatting.
As Mason and Logan engaged in conversation upon his return, Mason calmly broached a sensitive topic related to an incident in the mansion.
"Between you, Kendall, Carlos, and James, each of you has a distinctly different approach to protecting Katie," Mason began. "When I first arrived at the beach house , I had to navigate a web of suspicion and hostility. James was ready to strike me down for my past transgressions against Katie, while Kendall and Carlos had to intervene. Fortunately, Mrs. Knight saw through my remorse and spared me. But there's a whole world of secrets hiding behind those doors, secrets that Katie seems to be privy to."
Katie, with a knowing look, acknowledged her silent participation in the mystery. "I know what's going on, but it's not time to reveal everything just yet," she admitted.
Unfazed, Logan declared, "That may be true, but I am determined to uncover the truth, secrets or not."
