Chapter 13
"Sibling Rival Battle! Davey VS. Sarah!"
Castelia City, Unova
The Pokémon Academy Stadium buzzes with anticipation, trainers and their Pokémon scattered across the expansive arena floor. Sarah, known for her cold and distant demeanor, stands with Pikachu crackling with electricity and Furfrou poised elegantly at her side. Across from her, Brayden, the energetic and emotional admin of the Normal Class, commands attention with his Scizor, its metallic form gleaming under the stadium lights. Brayden wipes away a tear of excitement, his animated enthusiasm in stark contrast to Sarah's stoic presence. The two were doing some last minute training.
"Ready for our session, Sarah?" Brayden's voice carries across the stadium, his excitement barely contained. His Scizor clicks its claws together eagerly.
Sarah nods coolly, adjusting her stance with precision. "Let's get this over with."
Brayden's smile falters briefly at Sarah's blunt response, but he presses on, determined to engage her. "Come on, Sarah! You have to show Davey what you're made of!"
At the mention of Davey, Sarah's expression tightens imperceptibly. Davey, another trainer at the academy, had recently boasted about his prowess, especially to Sarah. Brayden's mention of him stirs a hint of irritation beneath her calm exterior.
"Pikachu, Furfrou, let's show them," Sarah commands, her voice betraying no emotion.
The trainers exchange nods, signaling the start of their practice match. Pikachu darts forward with a Quick Attack, testing Scizor's reflexes. Brayden responds with dramatic flair, his cheers echoing through the stadium. Furfrou moves gracefully, biding its time for the right opportunity to strike.
Brayden's enthusiasm doesn't waver as he continues to encourage Sarah. "Impressive moves, Sarah! You're going to wipe the floor with Davey!"
Scizor executes a series of precise Steel-type maneuvers, deflecting Pikachu's Thunderbolt with Iron Defense and retaliating with a powerful Bullet Punch. Sarah remains focused, her mind calculating the next move amidst Brayden's energetic display.
"Pikachu, Volt Tackle! Furfrou, Round attack!" Sarah commands, her instructions clear and efficient.
Pikachu charges with electrical energy, striking Scizor with force. Furfrou adds its harmonious Round attack, the melodious tones resonating through the stadium. Brayden watches with tear-filled eyes, caught up in the intensity of the battle.
As the match unfolds, Brayden's emotional outbursts contrast sharply with Sarah's composed demeanor. Pikachu and Furfrou execute their coordinated attacks flawlessly, leveraging their type advantages to keep Scizor on its toes. Brayden, swept up in the drama of the match, provides animated guidance to his Pokémon, his tears a testament to his passion.
The audience watches with intrigue as Sarah and Brayden navigate their unique dynamic. Murmurs of admiration and curiosity ripple through the stands. Sarah remains unfazed by the audience's reactions, her focus solely on the battle. She locks eyes with Brayden across the battlefield, his tears of joy reflecting the stark contrast in their approaches to Pokémon training.
"Great strategy, Sarah," Brayden manages between sniffles as the match nears its conclusion. "You're a force to be reckoned with."
Sarah nods in acknowledgment, a flicker of emotion crossing her face at Brayden's words.
Brayden hesitates for a moment, his emotional energy momentarily subdued. "Hey, Sarah... I know things have been tough with your mom still missing. How are you holding up?"
Sarah's mask of indifference softens slightly at Brayden's unexpected question. She meets his gaze, a hint of vulnerability flickering in her eyes before she steadies herself.
"I'm managing," Sarah replies quietly. "Thanks for asking."
Brayden nods understandingly, his usual exuberance tempered by genuine concern. "Anytime, Sarah. You know we're all here for you."
Sarah's Pikachu and Furfrou continue their coordinated attacks with precision, demonstrating their synchronization and Sarah's tactical acumen. The audience watches in awe as the battle reaches its climax, with Sarah's Pokémon gaining the upper hand against Brayden's Scizor.
"You've really honed their teamwork," Brayden remarks, wiping away another tear with a smile. "I can see why you're one of the top students."
Sarah's expression remains composed, a quiet confidence exuding from her as she surveys the battlefield. "They've been through a lot with me," she admits, her voice steady. "They're more than just Pokémon to me."
As Pikachu and Furfrou execute their final coordinated assault, the stadium erupts into applause. Brayden cheers enthusiastically, his emotional outpouring a testament to the bond between trainer and Pokémon.
"Outstanding, Sarah!" Brayden exclaims, his voice ringing out proudly. "You've really shown everyone what you're capable of!"
Sarah allows herself a small, satisfied smile as she recalls her Pokémon. Pikachu and Furfrou return to her side, radiating a sense of accomplishment. She nods at Brayden in acknowledgment of his praise, a silent understanding passing between them.
"Thanks, Brayden," Sarah replies, her tone carrying a hint of appreciation. "I'll keep pushing forward."
Brayden beams at her, his admiration evident. "I know you will, Sarah. You've got what it takes."
The two trainers share a moment of mutual respect amidst the fading cheers of the crowd. Sarah's confidence in her abilities, bolstered by the successful battle, shines through as she prepares to face the challenges ahead, both in and out of the arena.
As Davey and Ashley approach the Pokémon Academy Stadium, the morning sun casts a warm glow over the bustling scene. Davey feels a mix of nerves and excitement building up inside him, knowing that soon he'll be facing off against his sister, Sarah, in a pivotal battle.
"You ready for this, Davey?" Ashley asks with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Sarah's not going to hold back, you know."
Davey chuckles nervously. "I've been training hard. Eevee and I are as ready as we'll ever be."
Eevee, nestled in Davey's arms, trembles slightly with anticipation. Davey strokes its fur gently, trying to calm both his Pokémon and his own nerves.
"Don't worry, Eevee," Davey murmurs reassuringly. "We'll give it our best shot."
As they approach the stadium gates, familiar faces greet them. Zac, always cheerful and competitive, claps Davey on the shoulder with a wide grin.
"Davey, my man! You remember all those early morning training sessions?" Zac says enthusiastically. "Today's the day to put it all into action!"
Davey nods gratefully. "Yeah, Zac, your training really helped. Thanks for pushing me."
Meanwhile, Rex approaches Davey with a warm smile, his eyes meeting Davey's with an understanding glint. "Hey, Davey," Rex says softly. "You nervous about the battle?"
Davey nods, feeling a rush of gratitude and nervousness. "A bit, yeah. But I'm more focused on doing my best."
Rex's smile widens, and he leans in a little closer. "You know, you've really impressed me with how dedicated you are. I think you're going to do great out there."
Davey blushes slightly, heart racing at Rex's encouraging words. "Th-thanks, Rex. I... appreciate that."
Unnoticed by most, Jeremiah observes the exchange with a furrowed brow, a hint of jealousy flickering in his eyes. He clears his throat awkwardly, trying to mask his feelings as he looks away.
Meanwhile, a mischievous figure approaches with a grin, accompanied by a Gengar floating at their side. It's Spirit, known for her playful nature and love of pranks.
"Hey Davey, Ashley," Spirit says cheerfully, her Gengar echoing her mischievous grin. "Are you ready to see some real action today?"
Davey chuckles nervously, unsure of what antics Spirit might have planned. "I think we're about to find out."
Cole, known for his sensitive nature, appears with a nervous look on his face, clutching a slice of cake. He takes a shaky bite, stress evident on his face.
"Hey, guys," Cole says tentatively. "I-I'm a bit nervous for Davey's battle. He's been working so hard..."
Yuki, with a calm demeanor, appears beside Cole and places a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I understand, Cole. Davey's got this, and so do you. We're all here to support him."
Cole nods gratefully, taking another bite of cake. "Thanks, Yuki. I just want him to do well."
Suddenly, Ross himself steps forward with a proud smile on his face, drawing everyone's attention.
"Hey, everyone," Ross announces with excitement. "I wanted to share some great news. I got my acceptance letter to the Pokémon Academy! I'm officially in!"
Davey and Ashley congratulate Ross enthusiastically, sharing in his joy. "That's fantastic news, Ross!" Ashley exclaims, genuinely happy for him.
Ross beams with pride. "Thanks, guys! I'm really looking forward to starting this new journey."
Just then, Natalie, known for her spirited personality, joins the group with a proud grin. "My big brother is amazing..." Natalie chimes in, her voice bubbling with excitement.
"Yeah he's totally great…" Celine sarcastically says.
Davey and Ashley smile at Natalie's excitement, sharing in her joy. "That's awesome news, Natalie!" Davey says, genuinely happy for both Ross and Natalie.
Natalie beams with pride. "I know, right? He's going to be amazing!"
Sarah's boyfriend, Harold, steps up with a grin and places his hand on Davey's shoulder. "Don't let her intimidate you, Davey. You've got the whole crew rooting for you."
"Thanks Harold."
"But if I'm being honest, she's probably going to win." Harold laughs.
"Hey, that's not funny!" Charlotte says.
Davey looks out at the towering stadium before him, nerves fluttering in his stomach. Harold's joke didn't help. The weight of the impending battle with his sister, coupled with the support and expectations of his friends, hangs heavy in the air. With a deep breath, he steps forward, ready to face the challenge ahead with determination and courage.
The Pokémon Academy stadium buzzes with anticipation as the crowd eagerly awaits the match between the renowned twin trainers, Sarah and Davey. Among the spectators are Zac, Ashley, Jeremiah, Cole, Natalie, Ross, Yuki, Celine, Charlotte, Spyro, Sarah's boyfriend Harold, and more, all leaning forward in their seats, eyes glued to the battlefield. The bright afternoon sun casts a vibrant glow over the arena, highlighting its vivid colors. The referee signals for the battle to begin, and both trainers take their positions on opposite ends of the field.
"Welcome, everyone! We're in for a thrilling match today between the talented twins, Sarah and Davey!" the commentator's voice booms over the stadium speakers. "Let's see how this sibling rivalry unfolds!"
"Go, Gligar!" Davey shouts, releasing his agile Ground/Flying-type Pokémon. Gligar emerges from its Poké Ball with a graceful flip, landing deftly on the ground, its wings outstretched and claws gleaming in the sunlight.
"Let's show them what we've got, Furfrou!" Sarah calls out, tossing her own Poké Ball. In a flash of light, the elegant Normal-type Pokémon appears, its pristine fur perfectly groomed, standing confidently as it faces Gligar.
"And here we go! Davey starts off with Gligar, and Sarah counters with Furfrou. This is going to be exciting!" the commentator announces, the excitement in their voice palpable.
"Come on, Davey, you can do it!" Ashley shouts, clapping her hands.
"This is going to be intense," Zac murmurs, leaning forward.
"Go, Sarah! You've got this!" Harold cheers, his voice rising above the crowd.
Davey wastes no time in making the first move. "Gligar, use Acrobatics!"
Gligar launches into the air with remarkable speed, twisting and turning as it soars toward Furfrou. Sarah's eyes narrow as she quickly calls out her command. "Furfrou, counter with Headbutt!"
Furfrou braces itself, head lowered, ready to meet Gligar's aerial assault. The two Pokémon collide with a resounding impact, both skidding back from the force of the clash. The crowd, including Zac and his friends, erupts in cheers, enthralled by the intensity of the opening exchange.
"What a clash! Both Pokémon are giving it their all right from the start!" the commentator exclaims.
"You've got to do better than that, Davey!" Sarah taunts, smirking.
"We'll see about that," Davey replies, his brow furrowing in concentration. "Poison Sting, now!"
Gligar recovers swiftly, its tail glowing with a toxic purple hue as it aims a flurry of Poison Stings at Furfrou. Sarah responds just as quickly. "Furfrou, use Echoed Voice!"
"Nice move, Davey!" Cole exclaims, pumping his fist.
"She's really good at reading Davey's strategies," Natalie adds, nodding in approval.
Furfrou opens its mouth and lets out a powerful, resonating cry, the sound waves intercepting and dispersing Gligar's Poison Stings. The clash of attacks creates a dazzling display of lights and sounds, further energizing the spectators.
"Incredible! Furfrou's Echoed Voice just neutralized Gligar's Poison Sting! What a spectacle!" the commentator shouts, clearly thrilled.
"Alright, Furfrou, time to take the offensive! Use Wild Charge!" Sarah commands.
"Getting desperate, aren't we?" Davey quips, though a hint of worry flickers in his eyes.
Furfrou's body crackles with electric energy as it charges forward, leaving a trail of sparks in its wake. Davey remains calm, though doubt starts creeping in. "Gligar, dodge and use Slash!"
"Watch out, Furfrou!" Ross calls out, gripping the edge of his seat.
Gligar narrowly evades Furfrou's electrifying tackle, its claws glowing as it slashes at Furfrou's side. The nimble movements of both Pokémon keep the audience on the edge of their seats, each exchange more thrilling than the last.
"This battle is heating up, folks! Sarah and Davey are giving it their all, and neither one is backing down!" the commentator exclaims.
"Come on, Davey! You can do better than that!" Sarah taunts again, her confidence growing.
Davey's eyes flicker with uncertainty for a moment. "I can't let her get to me," he mutters to himself, refocusing. "Gligar, stay sharp!"
"Go, Gligar! Don't let up!" Jeremiah cheers.
"Furfrou's got this! Hang in there!" Yuki shouts.
"Jeremiah, I thought you didn't like Pokémon," Cole teases, noticing Jeremiah's enthusiastic cheering.
"Yeah, but this is different. It's so intense!" Jeremiah admits, eyes wide with excitement.
Nearby, Ashley notices Harper sitting quietly, looking worried. She leans over and whispers, "Hey, Harper, what's wrong? You seem really tense."
Harper glances at Ashley, her eyes narrowing. "It's none of your business, Ashley."
Ashley frowns but persists. "Come on, Harper, we're all here to support our friends. If something's bothering you, maybe I can help."
Harper glares at Ashley. "I don't need your help. Just focus on the battle and stay out of my personal life."
Ashley crosses her arms, clearly annoyed. "You know, you don't have to be so hostile all the time. We're not enemies."
"We'll never be friends, Ashley. So just drop it!" Harper snaps, turning her attention back to the battlefield.
"Looks like Davey's training with me has been paying off." Zac says, trying to lighten the mood.
"Yeah, he's gotten a lot better." Ashley agrees, her focus returning to the match.
The Pokémon Academy stadium roars with excitement as the battle between Sarah and Davey continues. Damon, the twins' father and the principal of the Pokémon Academy, watches from the VIP section, his stern expression and furrowed brows betraying his disappointment with Sarah's performance so far.
"Come on, Sarah," Damon mutters under his breath, shaking his head slightly. "You can do better than this."
On the battlefield, Sarah catches a glimpse of her father's disapproving look. Her heart sinks, and a wave of doubt washes over her. "Is he disappointed in me?" she thinks, her confidence wavering. "I need to prove to him that I'm a great trainer."
Meanwhile, the commentator keeps the audience engaged. "What a fierce competition! Both trainers are pushing their Pokémon to the limits. But it seems Sarah might be feeling the pressure!"
Davey, noticing Sarah's hesitation, smirks. "Having trouble, sis? Let's see if you can handle this. Gligar, use X-Scissor!"
Gligar's claws glow with a sharp, green energy as it charges at Furfrou. Sarah snaps back to attention, her determination renewed. "I can't let Dad down. Furfrou, dodge and use Round!"
Furfrou nimbly evades Gligar's attack and lets out a harmonious melody, sending waves of sound toward Gligar. The attack hits, but Gligar quickly recovers.
"Dad's watching. I can't mess this up," Sarah thinks, feeling the weight of her father's expectations. "Furfrou, we need to push harder. Use Headbutt!"
"Looks like Sarah is trying to regain control of the battle," the commentator announces. "But can she turn the tide against Davey's relentless assault?"
In the stands, Ashley continues to cheer for Davey. "Come on, Davey! Show her what you've got!"
Zac glances at Damon and then at Sarah, noticing her struggle. "She's really trying to impress him," he whispers to Ashley.
"Yeah, but Davey's not making it easy for her," Ashley replies, her eyes glued to the battlefield.
Harold shouts encouragement to Sarah, trying to boost her morale. "You can do it, Sarah! Show them your true strength!"
Gligar meets Furfrou's Headbutt head-on, both Pokémon reeling from the impact. Sarah grits her teeth, frustration and determination battling within her. "Furfrou, we can't give up. Use Wild Charge!"
As Furfrou charges up with electric energy, ready to launch its attack, Damon's critical gaze weighs heavily on Sarah. "I have to prove to him that I'm not just an average trainer," she thinks. "I need to show him I'm just as good as Davey, if not better."
"Davey, don't let her intimidate you!" Zac shouts. "Remember our training!"
"Thanks, Zac," Davey mutters, feeling the support from his friend. "Gligar, counter with Acrobatics!"
Gligar leaps into the air with incredible speed, evading Furfrou's Wild Charge and striking back with a flurry of aerial maneuvers. Sarah's heart races, her father's disappointed face flashing in her mind. "I can't let him down," she repeats to herself.
The commentator's voice rises with excitement. "This battle is reaching a critical point! Both trainers are pulling out all the stops. Who will come out on top?"
Sarah takes a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. "Furfrou, we have to keep fighting. Let's show Dad what we're made of!"
Furfrou stands firm, determination in its eyes mirroring Sarah's own. Davey smirks again, confident. "Gligar, use Poison Sting!"
Gligar's tail glows with a toxic purple hue, sending a barrage of poisonous stingers at Furfrou. Sarah's mind races, then steadies. "Furfrou, dodge and use Echoed Voice!"
Furfrou leaps aside, avoiding the stingers, and unleashes a powerful cry that reverberates through the stadium. The sound waves strike Gligar head-on, causing it to stagger.
"Nice try, sis, but it's not enough!" Davey taunts. "Gligar, use Slash!"
Gligar charges again, claws glowing. Sarah narrows her eyes, determined. "Furfrou, finish this with Wild Charge!"
Furfrou's body crackles with intense electric energy as it charges forward, colliding with Gligar just as it swings its claws. The impact sends both Pokémon skidding back, but Gligar collapses, unable to continue.
"Gligar is unable to battle! Furfrou wins!" the referee announces.
The commentator's voice is ecstatic. "What a comeback! Sarah and Furfrou have done it!"
Harold leaps to his feet, cheering. "That's my girl! Way to go, Sarah!"
Sarah beams, glancing at her father. Damon nods slightly, a hint of pride breaking through his stern demeanor. "Well done, Sarah," he murmurs.
Ashley sighs, clapping politely. "Well, Davey put up a good fight."
Zac looks at her, a small smile forming. "Yeah, he did. Your cheering really helped him stay focused."
Ashley glances at Zac, the tension between them easing a bit. "Thanks, Zac. It's been awkward since... you know."
"I know," Zac replies, his tone gentle. "But we're still friends, right?"
Ashley nods, her smile returning. "Yeah, we are."
As the crowd continues to cheer for Sarah's victory, Sarah herself stands proudly, feeling the weight of her father's expectations lift just a little. She had proven herself today, not just to her dad, but to everyone watching.
The crowd's cheers for Sarah's victory begin to die down as Davey returns Gligar to its Poké Ball. He stares at the Poké Ball in his hand, his confidence shaken. "I thought we had it, Gligar," he murmurs, his shoulders slumping.
Sarah, now standing proudly with Furfrou by her side, basks in the applause. Harold rushes over to her, wrapping her in a celebratory hug. "You were amazing, Sarah!"
"Thanks, Harold," Sarah replies, smiling widely.
In the stands, Zac, Ashley, Jeremiah, Cole, Natalie, Ross, Yuki, Celine, Charlotte, and Spyro exchange glances, their expressions mixed with disappointment.
"Sarah won," Natalie says quietly, not sounding as enthusiastic as she usually would be.
"Yeah, she did," Zac adds, though his tone lacks its usual energy.
Ashley frowns slightly. "I was really hoping Davey would pull through."
Harper, meanwhile, sits apart from the group, her eyes glued to her phone. She checks her messages, hoping to see a reply from Professor Cotton. But there's nothing. She sighs, her worry deepening. Ashley, noticing Harper's preoccupation, sneaks a glance at her phone and sees the name "Professor Cotton" on the screen. Her eyebrows knit together as she puts two and two together.
"Harper," Ashley says, her voice cutting through the buzz of the crowd.
Harper looks up, her expression guarded. "What do you want, Ashley?"
Ashley leans closer, lowering her voice. "What's going on with you and Professor Cotton?"
Harper's eyes widen, and she quickly locks her phone, a flash of anger crossing her face. "That's none of your business, Ashley."
Ashley narrows her eyes, undeterred. "If it's affecting you this much, maybe it should be."
Harper stands up, her tone sharp. "Stay out of it. You have no idea what's going on."
Ashley steps closer, refusing to back down. "Then tell me. Are you... are you sleeping with him?"
Harper's face flushes with anger and fear. "That's none of your concern!"
Ashley recoils, disgust evident in her expression. "It's wrong, Harper. It's illegal. You need to tell someone."
Harper clenches her fists, her voice trembling. "Just stay out of it, Ashley. You don't understand."
Meanwhile, back on the battlefield, Davey takes a deep breath, trying to shake off his doubt. "It's not over yet. Silvally, I choose you!"
Davey sends out Silvally, the majestic, multi-type Pokémon landing on the field with a fierce cry. Sarah straightens, her focus intensifying.
"Let's keep this momentum, Furfrou," she says, her voice steady.
The commentator's voice booms over the speakers. "The battle continues! Davey sends out Silvally! This is going to be intense!"
"Silvally, use Multi-Attack!" Davey commands, determination flaring in his eyes.
Silvally charges up, its body glowing with energy as it launches a powerful attack toward Furfrou. Sarah quickly responds. "Furfrou, dodge and use Headbutt!"
Furfrou narrowly evades the Multi-Attack and counters with a swift Headbutt, striking Silvally hard. The crowd watches with bated breath as the battle heats up once again.
Zac watches closely, leaning forward. "Come on, Davey. You can do this."
"Yeah, come on, Davey," Ashley mutters, still rattled by her confrontation with Harper.
On the battlefield, Silvally shakes off Furfrou's Headbutt and prepares for its next move. "Silvally, use Dragon Claw!" Davey calls out.
Silvally's claws glow with a fierce, draconic energy as it swipes at Furfrou. Sarah quickly reacts. "Furfrou, counter with Wild Charge!"
Furfrou's body crackles with electricity as it charges forward, meeting Silvally's Dragon Claw head-on. The impact sends shockwaves through the stadium, and both Pokémon stagger back.
"An incredible clash of power! Neither trainer is holding back!" the commentator exclaims.
Harold cheers loudly from the sidelines. "You've got this, Sarah! Keep pushing!"
Davey clenches his fists, his earlier doubt resurfacing. "I can't lose again. Silvally, use Headbutt!"
Silvally lunges forward, its head aimed directly at Furfrou. Sarah steadies herself. "Furfrou, use Echoed Voice!"
Furfrou lets out a powerful cry, sending sound waves toward Silvally. The attacks collide, creating a dazzling display of energy and light.
In the stands, Zac and Ashley exchange a look. Despite their recent breakup, the intensity of the battle draws them closer together.
"He's really giving it his all," Zac says quietly.
Ashley nods, her focus still on the battle. "Yeah, he is. I just hope it's enough."
The battle rages on, both Furfrou and Silvally showing signs of fatigue. Davey's eyes are filled with determination, while Sarah's confidence wavers slightly as she glances at her father.
"Silvally, use Wild Charge!" Davey commands, his voice steady despite his inner turmoil.
Silvally crackles with electric energy, charging at Furfrou with full force. Sarah grits her teeth. "Furfrou, dodge and counter with Headbutt!"
Furfrou tries to dodge, but it's too late. Silvally slams into Furfrou with tremendous power, sending Furfrou flying backward. The Pokémon lands heavily, unable to get back up.
"Furfrou is unable to battle! Silvally wins!" the referee announces.
The crowd erupts into cheers. Ashley and Zac, caught up in the excitement, hug each other instinctively. They quickly pull away, blushing and looking awkwardly at each other.
"Nice job, Davey," Zac says, trying to mask his embarrassment.
"Yeah, you did great," Ashley adds, her tone a mix of genuine praise and awkwardness.
They exchange a quick look, their recent breakup still a raw wound, but the momentary connection felt strangely comforting.
Harold cheers loudly for Sarah. "You did great, Sarah! Don't give up!"
However, when Sarah glances up at her father, Damon, she sees a look of disappointment etched on his face. Her heart sinks, but she quickly steels herself, determined to prove her worth.
Davey, bolstered by his victory, watches Sarah intently as she prepares to send out her next Pokémon. "You can still forfeit, Sarah," he says, half-jokingly but also hoping to ease the tension.
Sarah shoots him a determined look. "Not a chance, Davey. I'm not done yet." She retrieves another Poké Ball from her belt. "Frogadier, I choose you!"
With a flash of light, Frogadier appears on the battlefield, ready for action. The crowd murmurs in anticipation, eager to see how this next round will unfold.
"Looks like Sarah is ready to continue the fight with Frogadier!" the commentator announces. "This battle is far from over, folks!"
Davey's momentary confidence is shadowed by his lingering doubts, but he remains focused. "Alright, Silvally, let's give it our all."
Sarah, despite the pressure, meets his gaze with fierce determination. "We've come this far, Frogadier. Let's show them what we're made of."
In the stands, Zac and Ashley, still feeling the awkwardness of their hug, try to shake off their embarrassment.
"You think she can pull through?" Ashley asks, glancing at Zac.
Zac nods, a small smile forming. "Yeah, she's tough. Just like her brother."
Ashley smirks. "Guess that's something we can agree on."
They exchange a brief, amused look before turning their attention back to the battlefield, both secretly enjoying the brief connection despite their differences.
As the next phase of the battle begins, Sarah and Davey stand ready, their Pokémon poised for action. The outcome is still uncertain, but one thing is clear: both siblings are determined to give it everything they've got.
The battle resumes with both trainers focused and ready. Sarah stands firm, her eyes locked on Silvally. "Frogadier, start with Smokescreen!"
Frogadier nods and releases a thick cloud of smoke, enveloping the battlefield in a dense fog. Silvally and Davey struggle to see through the murk.
"Stay alert, Silvally," Davey calls out, trying to keep his nerves in check. "Use Wild Charge!"
Silvally charges up, crackling with electric energy, but the attack misses as Frogadier moves unseen through the smoke. The crowd watches intently, the tension palpable.
Sarah smirks, her confidence growing. "Frogadier, use Double Team!"
Within the smokescreen, multiple images of Frogadier appear, making it even harder for Silvally to target the real one. Davey's anxiety increases, his earlier confidence waning.
"Silvally, try Dragon Claw!" Davey commands, but his voice wavers slightly.
Silvally slashes through the smoke, hitting only the illusions. The crowd gasps, impressed by Frogadier's strategy.
"Looks like Sarah is taking control of the battle!" the commentator announces. "Frogadier's Smokescreen and Double Team are creating a real challenge for Silvally!"
"Now, Frogadier, use Bubblebeam!" Sarah orders.
From within the smoke, streams of bubbles shoot out, hitting Silvally and causing it to stagger. Davey clenches his fists, worry etched on his face. "I can't let this happen," he thinks, but doubt creeps in. "Maybe I should give up..."
In the stands, Zac and Ashley watch with bated breath. "Sarah's really turning the tide," Zac comments, a mix of admiration and concern in his voice.
Ashley nods, her eyes fixed on the battlefield. "Come on, Davey, don't give up," she whispers, though her support is mixed with unease from their earlier interaction.
Harold continues to cheer enthusiastically for Sarah, his voice rising above the din. "You've got this, Sarah! Keep it up!"
Davey takes a deep breath, fighting to regain his composure. "Silvally, use Multi-Attack! Aim for the source of the bubbles!"
Silvally fires off a powerful attack, but Frogadier swiftly dodges, moving through the smokescreen with ease. The illusions and smoke continue to confound Silvally, and it struggles to find its target.
"Frogadier, follow up with Water Pulse!" Sarah commands, her voice steady.
A powerful pulse of water shoots out from the smoke, striking Silvally hard. The impact sends Silvally skidding back, and it struggles to stay on its feet. Davey's heart sinks, his confidence nearly shattered. "I don't know if we can win this," he thinks, doubt consuming him.
The commentator's voice booms through the stadium. "Sarah's strategy is working brilliantly! Frogadier's agility and clever use of the environment have given her the upper hand!"
Davey glances at Zac in the stands, who gives him an encouraging nod. "Don't give up, Davey!" Zac shouts. "You've got this!"
Ashley adds her voice to the support. "Stay strong, Davey! You can do it!"
Hearing his friends' encouragement, Davey takes a deep breath, trying to push past his doubts. "We can still do this, Silvally. Don't give up!"
Sarah, seeing her brother's determination waver, presses her advantage. "Frogadier, one more Water Pulse!"
Frogadier launches another powerful pulse of water, the attack cutting through the smokescreen and striking Silvally with precision. Silvally stumbles, its energy fading.
Davey's heart pounds, the urge to give up almost overwhelming. But he grits his teeth, determined to fight to the end. "Silvally, use Headbutt! Don't let the smoke stop you!"
Silvally charges forward blindly, its determination matching its trainer's. The battle is fierce, the outcome still hanging in the balance as both trainers push their Pokémon to their limits.
The battle rages on, the thick smokescreen continuing to obscure the battlefield. Silvally, battered and struggling, looks back at Davey, a glimmer of determination in its eyes. Davey suddenly remembers something crucial—the Memory Drives that change Silvally's type.
Davey digs into his pocket, pulling out the Electric Memory. His hands tremble as he holds it up. "Silvally, I believe in you! Use this Electric Memory!"
Silvally's eyes flash with understanding. It absorbs the Electric Memory, and its body begins to glow with electric energy. The transformation is swift, turning Silvally into an Electric-type. The crowd gasps at the sudden shift.
"Silvally, use Multi-Attack again!" Davey commands, newfound confidence in his voice.
The commentator's voice rises with excitement. "Davey has just used the Electric Memory! Silvally is now an Electric-type! This could change everything!"
Silvally charges up, its Multi-Attack now crackling with electric energy. It fires the attack, and the powerful electric surge cuts through the smokescreen, homing in on Frogadier. The attack strikes Frogadier hard, sending it flying back. Frogadier struggles to get up, clearly weakened.
Sarah's eyes widen in surprise. "Frogadier, use Double Team!"
Frogadier attempts to create more illusions, but the electric energy from Silvally's attack disrupts the clones, revealing the real Frogadier.
"Finish it, Silvally! Use Wild Charge!" Davey yells, his determination unwavering.
Silvally charges forward, electricity crackling around it, and slams into Frogadier with tremendous force. The impact sends a shockwave through the stadium. Frogadier is knocked back, but manages to get up, its eyes blazing with determination.
"Frogadier, use Water Pulse!" Sarah commands.
Frogadier fires a powerful pulse of water, hitting Silvally dead on. Silvally and Frogadier both stagger from the impact of their respective attacks, and then both Pokémon collapse simultaneously.
"Silvally and Frogadier are both unable to battle! It's a tie!" the referee declares.
The crowd erupts into cheers, the atmosphere electric with excitement. Ashley and Zac, caught up in the moment, hug each other tightly. They quickly break apart, blushing and looking away awkwardly.
"Nice job, Davey," Zac says, his voice filled with admiration.
Ashley nods, her cheeks still flushed. "Yeah, you really turned it around."
They exchange a brief look, secretly enjoying the hug despite the awkwardness.
The commentator's voice booms through the stadium. "With both trainers down to their last Pokémon, this battle is now even! Who will come out on top?"
Davey returns Silvally to its Poké Ball and takes a deep breath. He looks down at Eevee, who stands right next to him, ready and eager. "It's your turn, Eevee," he says with a smile.
Eevee jumps onto the battlefield, its eyes shining with determination, but also glancing back at Davey, sensing his lingering doubts.
Sarah, having just returned Frogadier to its Poké Ball, takes out her final choice. "You did great, Frogadier. Now it's up to you, Pikachu!"
With a flash of light, Pikachu appears on the field, sparks flying from its cheeks. The crowd murmurs with excitement as the final showdown begins.
"Davey has chosen Eevee, and Sarah has chosen Pikachu! This is it, folks—the final round!" the commentator exclaims.
Davey and Sarah lock eyes, their rivalry and mutual respect evident. Both are determined to win, not just for themselves, but to prove their skills.
"Alright, Eevee, let's give it everything we've got!" Davey calls out.
Eevee stands ready, but casts another worried glance at Davey, sensing the tension and pressure he feels. It knows how much this battle means to him and is determined to fight its hardest.
"Pikachu, we've come this far—let's finish strong!" Sarah commands.
Pikachu sparks with electricity, ready for the battle.
The crowd leans forward in anticipation, the energy in the stadium at an all-time high. The commentator's voice rings out again. "With both trainers giving it their all, this final round is sure to be electrifying! Who will emerge victorious?"
