"Is Delaney furious with me for running off?" Sammy whispers woefully, fearing his sister's disappointment.
"Actually, she's more concerned about you," Katie reassures him.
"I bet she's about to rat me out to our folks," Sammy frets.
"Or maybe she won't," Katie says optimistically. "Shall we proceed to the living room?"
With a nervous sigh, Sammy agrees, and they both exit the room.
"Sammy," Delaney addresses him.
"Please, I beg you not to scold me! Please, don't inform our parents! I didn't mean to upset you!" Sammy pleads anxiously, seeking refuge behind Mason.
"I'm not angry. I'm relieved that you're safe. And I'm grateful that Katie was there with you to soothe your nerves. I can see why you felt the need to run away. I understand the challenges you face at school, but I can't let you neglect your education," Delaney explains, her tone gentle and understanding.
"Won't you be snitching on me to mom and dad?" Sammy asks, his voice full of worry.
"I probably should, but I won't. They already stress enough about you. I don't want to add to that burden on them," Delaney responds.
"Am I really causing them stress?" Sammy asks, his tone tinged with sadness.
"Oops, I didn't mean it that way. I just meant they worry a lot because they love you so much," Delaney clarifies.
"Even though you put it differently, it still feels like the same thing. Do I weigh them and you down?" Sammy questions.
"No way, never think that. You're a blessing to us. We adore you," Delaney reassures.
"Thanks Delaney," Sammy expresses his gratitude.
"You're welcome. We should start getting ready to leave," Delaney suggests.
"This place is so much fun. I don't want to go," Sammy protests.
"I know, but we have to," Delaney insists.
Sighing, Sammy reluctantly bids farewell to everyone.
After Sammy and Delaney leave, everyone else gets ready for bed.
As Logan relaxes on the couch playing solitaire on his iPad, he is suddenly startled by intense screaming. James and Kendall rush into the room, out of breath.
"Isn't it a bit late for such intense exercise?" Logan questions, noticing their exhaustion.
"We're not exercising, we're running from Carlos," James explains.
"Why? What did you do to upset him?" Logan inquires.
"Nothing. He's just acting crazy," Kendall adds.
"He just started acting uncivilized out of nowhere?" Camille asks, puzzled.
"Yeah," James and Kendall confirm.
"Was he the one who let out that blood-curdling scream?" Camille asks.
James and Kendall nod in agreement.
Logan let out a disheartened sigh before rising from his seat to retrieve a bottle of water. "Perhaps he simply stubbed his toe on a solid object," he mused as he passed by the waste bin. However, his attention was suddenly arrested by something in the bin. Setting his water aside, he reached in and drew out the object, his eyes widening with profound concern.
"Logan, are you alright? What's the matter?" Camille inquired, noticing her boyfriend's sudden change in demeanor.
"Oh no, he actually did it," Logan muttered.
"What do you mean?" Camille pressed, approaching him.
Logan revealed the empty bag of gummy dinosaurs to her, causing James and Kendall to grasp the situation quickly with a shared expression of dread.
Still confused, Camille pleaded, "Could someone please explain what's going on?"
Logan inquired, "Do you recall the instance when I mentioned Carlos's tendency to exceed the limits of a typical sugar rush due to his excessive consumption of sugary treats?"
Camille responded, "Yes, I do. Why do you ask?"
"Earlier, when he prepared a bowl of gummy dinosaurs for Sammy, he emptied half the bag, which amounted to 50 pieces. I suspect Katie and Sammy shared them because 50 gummy snacks are quite a lot for a ten-year-old to consume alone. The empty gummy dinosaur bag I discovered in the trash indicates that Carlos devoured the remaining 50 pieces, leading to his current hyperactive state," Logan explained.
"That's concerning. I'm still puzzled about something. James and Kendall claimed that Carlos was chasing them, but he didn't follow them in here," Camille remarked.
"That is indeed strange. Has anyone seen Katie? She might have an idea of Carlos's whereabouts," Logan suggested.
"I last saw her heading to the bathroom to brush her teeth," Kendall mentioned.
"I was still getting ready for bed," James added.
"We must locate her," Logan insisted.
