RWBY: The Lost Kingdom
Prologue: A Kingdom Covered in Darkness
Once upon a time, there was a world that was full of magic and wonder. It was a world that many people believed was fake or simply a fairy tale, but the legend of this world speaks the truth. This magical world was called Aradia, but it also had many other names. Aradia was vast and endless, with thousands of countries and many different races that inhabited them. There were humans, elves, dwarves, goblins, trolls, orcs, fauns, centaurs, dragons, and all other magical creatures that anyone could think of. And all of these races ruled their kingdoms, in their magical domains. These great and magnificent kingdoms are the foundations of what this world is based on, and so many of them have their tales and legends. But out of all the kingdoms, there was one that was greater than all the rest, and the absurdist thing about it was that it was a human kingdom.
Humans are known to be the weakest race in all of Aradia, even when they started to develop magic they were still known as the weakest. Most of the kingdoms that were ruled by the human race were quickly forgotten through time, but one was able to last. This kingdom was known as Aurora: The Kingdom of the Briar Rose.
Long ago, there was a young prince of an old kingdom named Arthur Silverline. When he was only ten years old, he wandered into the forest and encountered a being that no human would have thought to see in a country of men. It was an elf woman, she was taller than any man in the prince's kingdom, she had a beautiful face and figure, and she also had skin that was paler than snow. She also wore a robe that was made of gold, and her hair color was silver.
The elf woman approached the young prince and told him about his future. She said that great things would happen in Arthur's life and that he would die a happy man, but before all good things, a tragedy must come. She warned Arthur that in the future, his father, the king, would grow old and become a tyrant, but one day he would be struck down by the sword of justice. Once he dies, the kingdom will fall apart, and when that happens, she tells Arthur to become the new king and take his people to the lands of the North. There in the North was the tallest mountain of Aradia, Mount Amaya, which was once said to be the domain of an old race that no longer existed. In Mount Amaya were the great halls of that old kingdom, and it would be rebuilt by Arthur's people and there they will rule for ages to come. But before the elven woman left, she warned Arthur to make sure to never be tempted by the Heart of the Mountain and to warn his descendants as well. Arthur did not know what she meant, but he never got the chance to ask before she disappeared from his sight.
Many years have passed and what the elven woman predicted came true. Arthur's father had become a cruel and wicked king, he treated his people like garbage and anyone who defied him would have been thrown in prison or sentenced to death. Arthur had enough of his father's cruelty, he challenged him to a sword duel. If Arthur won, he could be the new king.
The king at this point was an old man who looked to be decaying by the day. But despite his weak-looking appearance, the Wicked King was as strong as ten thousand men and his skill with the sword was unparalleled. Arthur was not prepared and lost the dual and to make sure nobody else would try to rebel against him, the Wicked King was ready to kill his son. But before the king could plunge his sword into Arthur's back the prince was saved by a knight, who was also his dearest friend named Alexander Dusk, who stabbed the Wicked King in the back.
After the king's death, the kingdom fell into chaos and the people begged for a new ruler. Arthur and Alexander gathered everyone in the kingdom, and they moved to the North. The journey had taken two years, but in the end, it was all worth it when they saw the great mountain that nearly touched the heavens.
Once they got there, the people were divided. Some wanted to follow Arthur and live in the mountain for they knew there were riches beyond their wildest dreams, but others were scared of the mountain for they heard rumors that it was cursed. So Arthur came up with an idea, those that did not want to enter the mountain would go with Alexander and he would be their king. So, the people who followed Alexander set up a kingdom that was just below Mount Amaya, it was forever called Dusk: The Kingdom of the Chaparral Violets.
The rest of the people who were not driven by fear followed Arthur and made the inside of Amaya their own. Since then, the kingdom has been called Aurora.
Four hundred years later both Aurora and Dusk prospered, although the Kingdom of Aurora was far greater in power. The great halls of Aurora were breathtaking, and the mountain itself was full of jewels that the dwarves would be jealous of. The king of that era was Hans Silverline, and the queen was Elsie Silverline. They had a daughter and a son who were around the same age, their names were Tiana and Merlin. Hans was known as the greatest king that Aurora had since Arthur, but sadly, he would also be the last.
During this time, King Hans made a peace treaty with the Wood Elf King, Pål. But then he betrayed their trust when they gave his kingdom valuable elven riches, and he gave them nothing in return. Pål deployed his soldiers to make Luther pay back what he owed, but the forces of Aurora easily defeated the wood elves. Not wanting to go to war Pål made his forces retreat but he swore vengeance on Hans.
The greedy king cared little about the threat from the Wood Elf King until one night the Golden Elf Woman who spoke to Arthur appeared in Hans's dreams.
The elf lady warned Hans, telling him that must give back the treasures he stole, or misfortune will fall upon his family. The next morning, Hans remembered the dream and told his wife about it. Out of fear, Hans confessed to Elsie that he would return the elven treasures to Pål, but Queen Elsie was a prideful woman and told her husband to not show weakness. Hand pathetically gave in to his wife and forgot about the Golden Elf Woman's warning.
One month later, one of the miners mined deep within the mountain and found something that no mortal being on this earth had ever seen. It was a beautiful stone that was the shape of a heart and it glowed with colors that no one in any world had seen before. It was called the Heart of Amaya by Hans, and it became his symbol of rule and power. Once tales of the stone spread far, Pål came to Hans's throne again. He pleaded with him if he could have the stone, but King Hans laughed at the elf and told him to leave his presence and never return. Ever since then, Pål's hatred for the human king grew even more and he swore to destroy the Silverline bloodline.
While everyone in Aurora marveled at the beauty of the Heart of Amaya, Merlin, the Gifted Prince, despised the stone. The reason why was because the young boy could see something no one else could. On the outside, the Heart of Amaya was a magnificent jewel, but Merlin could sense that there was great darkness within the treasure. Darkness that would very well put his family and the entire kingdom in jeopardy. The prince tried to make his father get rid of the stone, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. Realizing that nobody would listen to him, Merlin decided to act on his own and steal the Heart of Amaya.
Merlin entered the throne room at midnight and saw the Heart of Amaya which was attached to the top of the throne and shining like a star in the night sky. He walked up to it and took it from its place, but fate had decided that it would not be so easy. After he removed the stone from its place the young prince heard the scream of his mother who was right behind. Merlin tried to explain to Elsie his intentions, but the queen refused to listen to him and believed he was trying to have the great jewel for himself. The mother and son were now wrestling for the Heart of Amaya, their screams waking up the kingdom. As they were fighting for the stone, all its colors died, and complete darkness covered the stone. That same darkness swallowed Merlin and pushed Elsie back. After that, the Heart of Amaya started to glow again, but Merlin was nowhere to be found. The next morning Queen Elsie told King Hans that the stone destroyed Prince Merlin because he tried to take all the power for himself. Seeing their son as a traitor, Hans and Elsie felt no pity for him. The only one who cried for Merlin was Tiana, whose tears fell down her face like a beautiful waterfall.
Four days after Merlin's demise, a horrible calamity fell upon the land. That day, the sky was dark as if morning would never come, the winds roared like a mighty lion ready to attack its prey, and thunder shook the sky as lightning struck the ground like spears stabbing their enemies. The king knew what this meant, he heard tales of their coming. It was...a dragon.
A mighty black dragon, it was known as Male, the Dragon Queen. She came down upon the Kingdom of Dusk and destroyed it with her black flames. The people of Dusk retreated to the sea and sailed away from the mighty Male. The citizens of Dusk who escaped on the ships looked back at their old kingdom and cried as they saw not even a trace left. Male allowed the citizens of Dusk to live, for she was not after them. Her piercing green eyes moved to Aurora for she desired the Heart of Amaya.
The Knights of Aurora tried their best to fend off the beast, they used all their best spells and weapons, but nothing affected the Great Male. She crushed them all like ants and burned anything that got in her way. As the Dragon Queen rampaged through the mountain, she finally made it to the throne room, where she could sense the power of the Heart of Amaya. Queen Elsie, who was hiding in the throne room, took the stone and tried to make a run for it, but Male turned her into ash and the Heart of Amaya fell into an ocean of gold and jewels. The citizens who survived were able to escape thanks to King Hans and Princess Tiana. As they got down from the mountain, Hans and Tiana looked to see on the other side was the Wood Elf King Pål and his army of elves right behind. They were there to destroy Aurora, but instead, they witnessed the destruction of the once-great kingdom. Tiana called out to them, she pleaded to them with tears welling from her eyes to come and help them, even Hans was on his knees begging. Only one word described the two of them:
"Pathetic…"
Pål thought to himself.
The Wood Elf King then turned his back on them and left the Kingdom of Aurora to burn. As they left, Tiana cursed them and Hans was on the ground, crying louder than all the other citizens who cried for their home.
This is the tale of a great kingdom that was lost, but the story is not over, we have only just begun.
Author's Note:
This was the very first fanfiction I have written back on my previous account. It's basically RWBY x The Hobbit except the world is not Middle Earth itself but a completely different fictional world that I made up which is pretty heavily inspired by J.R.R Tolkien's world. I made this fanfiction just for fun and I honestly hope to finish it soon. Hope you guys enjoy this wild ride!
