(Febuary 1990)

(Indianapolis, Indiana)

Rose kept walking through the cold, feeling alone. The poor dog was still heart broken from Angela's tragic demise from Chicago. While walking, she began to think of the gang.

She didn't know where she was or how far she was from home. Oh, how much she wanted to see her family. She also wondered how Kaiden was with Samuel.

That following night, it was too cold for Rose to keep going. So she decided to find shelter in a hollowed tree. As she approached it, she carefully sniffed it for any scent. Luckily, the scent was old so she had nothing to worry about.

Rose walked inside of the hollowed out tree, using her forepaws to move the flooring around to make it more comfortable. She then laid down in the donut position, wrapping her tail around her vulnerable body. Her head rested on her extended right foreleg.

She closed her eyes, instantly falling asleep, dreading the day ahead.

(The Next Morning)

It had stopped snowing by the next morning, but it was still chilly. Rose woke up when the sun rose up the the sun peeking through the clouds, shining into the hollowed out tree.

She stood up and stretched her aging body. It would be around the time breakfast would be happening. The city of Indianapolis was to her left so she'd have to go down there.

The city wasn't as big as the last one she was in. And Rose only saw one tall skyscraper, which was the Chase Building. In front of it, was a small park that had a fountain in the middle of it. It was barely covered in snow.

When she walked there, she saw that she wasn't the only dog there. There was a yellow labrador with a puppy, presumably his pup.

The puppy was much more furry than him, mostly black with white markings on its two forelegs, it's face, head, the front of its neck was white also, and underneath its tail. Its floppy ears were black along with its left eye.

It had yellow on its right eye, the upper part of its left foreleg, and yellow socks on both hind legs. It's eyes were a sky blue color.

They were playing with one another, giving Rose a sad feeling. It made her think of when her puppies were that small. She still couldn't believe that they were grown up. She couldn't describe just how much she missed them.

After finding some food from a picnic, Rose retreated to a few streets over to eat her food in peace. She was almost finished eating when she heard the sound of car tires screeching followed by a dog yelping in pain.

Rose's ears perked up at the sharp sudden sound. "What was that?" She asked, turning around and galloped to the street where the sound came from.

To her horror, she saw that the labrador from earlier, laying motionless on the road and a white truck parked in front of him. "Oh no..." Rose whispered, dropping her mix-matched ears. She cautiously walked over to the fallen dog.

To her shock, he was barely breathing. "Hey, are you okay?"she asked, walking around the labrador. The labrador, whose name was Ted, heard the shepherd mixes' voice and he barely opened his eyes.

"Take care... of her..." he said before taking his last breath. Whisper? Was she the puppy he was with? Rose's question was answered when she heard the sound of a puppy whimpering coming from her right.

Rose's ears perked up and she saw the same pup, frightened and shaking. Rose only sighed with her eyes closed, feeling sad that this pup lost her father. People who witnessed Ted save his pup from getting hit by that truck were in tears, watching Rose become sad feom his tragic death.

The only thing she could do now was take this pup in and raise her as her own, become a mother to this orphaned pup. Rose turned towards the pup and walked over to her. Whisper was about the same size as her pups when she saw them last.

Whisper whimpered quietly and cowered down in fear. Her blue eyes were filled with fear. She was afraid that Rose would hurt her. But Rose gently licked the small pup on the head, nuzzling her gently.

"Its alright, hon. I wont hurt you. It'll be okay," Rose spoke softly to the pup. The pup looked up, sensing that Rose wouldn't hurt her. Whisper nuzzled Rose's leg, closing her eyes.

"Come with.me, hon," Rose said, walking passed the crowd of people, the puppy following her. "What's your name, hon?" Rose asked. "Wh...Whisper..." the pup said.
