Rose and Sammie walked down the street so they could talk. After all this time, Rose didn't know if her eldest daughter wanted nothing more to do with her after this. Rose couldn't blame her since she went through the same age as Sammie, being hateful towards the one who gave you life.

"So tell me. Where were you all this time?" Sammie asked, semiflopped ears dropped as she walked forward. "I fell asleep in the back of a truck. I had no knowledge of it going across the country. I had no intention of leaving you, your siblings, your father, and the whole gang," Rose replied.

Sammie looked back at her mother. She knew the truth, but she still felt bitter. "All this time, we all thought you were either dead or just didn't care about us," she sighed.

"Sammie, I didn't want this to happen. I spent a year and a half trying to get back to you guys. You're all grown up and have a pup. Your father told me what your brothers and sisters were doing in their lives. You can be angry with me and keep me from your son. But I never forgot you guys, you guys kept me going. You're the reason I came back," Rose explained in her parental tone.

Sammie looked away with her ears raised, closing her eyes and gritted her teeth. She turned and tucked her head under Rose's chin. Rose was stunned for a moment, not expecting this kind of reaction from her daughter. "I thought you weren't coming back... We missed you so much..." she said.

Rose licked her daughter to comfort her. "I missed you guys too. A lot," Rose said softly. It took Sammie about ten minutes before she was able to stop crying. Rose knew Sammie would forgive her now.

They walked back to where Sammie's gang was. Rose got a chance to meet her grandson, Liam, the only pup in Sammie's litter because she lost her other five because of malnutrition when they were a couple of weeks old.

Her and her mate, River, couldn't decide on a name for him, so they chose Liam, an Irish name meaning 'Strong-willed', which suited him. Rose saw how much Liam looked like his mother.

She approached River, who slightly glared at her. "I'm glad you're taking care of my daughter and grandson. You're a good mate and father. Thank you for this," Rose said softly.

River's glance softened and he said, "You're welcome, Mrs. Rose. Thank you for taking care of my niece," "Niece?" Rose asked, eyes widened.

"My sister's pup. She looks like her," River said. "You mean Whisper?" Rose asked, looking over her right shoulder, seeing Whisper playing with Liam. River smiled softly. "Yes. I can tell she's my sisters' daughter," he said.

Rose smiles at this revelation. It was good to hear that Whisper had some family on her side.

"R-River? Whose this?" a timid voice said from below them.

Rose looked down and saw a puppy about Whisper's age. He was white with auburn and brown markings. His auburn markings were on his head with a white stripe on his head and auburn spots on his right side. Brown freckles on the front of his muzzle, brown large spots on his sides and , and on his hind legs. His ears were pointed and his eyes were light green.

"Oh, Beau. Meet Rose," River said. Rose smiled down at the pup, who was timid, that she could see. "Nice to meet you, Beau. You want to meet my daughter, Whisper? She's your age and you'd make great friends," Rose offered

Beau looked at her, seeing Whisper for the first time. "Go on," River encouraged. Beau looked up at the adult dogs before walking over to Whisper.

Beau had been adopted into the pack when he was a month old after his mother had been beaten by a human. She had been with their pack for a few months before falling pregnant with Beau.

Whisper looked at him, instantly feeling herself blush. "Hi," Beau said softly. "Hello, I'm Whisper," she said shyly. "Yeah, your mom told me," Beau answered. Whisper smiled and tilted her head in a cute way, making Beau's heart beat faster.

"What's your name?" She said. "Beau," he answered, his face becoming red. "You okay? Your face is red," Whisper asked, raising a brow. He ducked down, covering his face with his right forepaw.

Whisper giggled and put a paw on his head. "You're really funny," Whisper said with a grin. Rose smiledat this, seeing how they hit off, not knowing they'd become mates later on.
