Later on that evening, Whisper met Rose on the Brooklyn Bridge, Rose's favorite place to think. Whisper smiled when she saw her mother figure walk up and hop on the edge of the bridge.
"Thought you weren't gonna come, mom," Whisper said with a grin. "I never forget our little meetings," Rose answered, shaking her fur. Whisper chuckles and looks away for a moment.
"Yeah, I guess that's true," Whisper replied, looking at the water below. Rose noticed the look on her face, signifying she had something on her mind. "Something you want to tell me, Whisper? I know that look," Rose asked.
"Yeah, something has been bothering me since earlier today. How did you know that I was pregnant?" she asked, looking at her mother. Rose simply smiled at her daughter's question.
"Mother's instinct, Whisper. And how Beau calmed you down earlier when you got too excited," Rose answered. Whisper's ears perked up and she looked at her.
"Yeah, I guess you're right," she said, looking ahead. She had another question on her mind, making her worry. "Mom, what's going to happen when I give birth? I'm not sure if it's going to hurt a lot..." the lab mix asked.
Rose looked at her daughter, seeing the opportunity to explain how it was going to be when the time comes. "I won't lie. It will hurt. We can take you to the barge so you and Beau can have your puppies there," Rose said. "What about you?" Whisper asked.
"Don't you worry about me. I'll find me a place. Don't worry about what Riley says. He's always been like that, even when he was a puppy. He hasn't changed a bit," Rose assured, giving her daughter a lick on the cheek.
"What if I'm not a good mother?" Whisper asked, pulling her ears back a bit. Rose puts her left fore paw over Whisper's right fore paw. "Where is this coming from? There's no perfect parent out there. I didn't do so good either, neither did your father, Dodger. We learn on the job," Rose assured.
Whisper would need everything there is to know about becoming a first time parent. It wasn't easy raising Sammie and them for the short time she was with them, even explaining how Sammie almost got hit by a car when she was a puppy, scaring her half to death.
"Before the time comes, I would list down some names for the puppies, so you have an idea," Rose said. Whisper agreed on that. Whisper felt more assured about becoming a mother, thanks to her own mother.
