Chapter 4 The News

Rick and Monger exited the Pentagon and headed to a couple of military choppers. Monger had a big old grin on his face, while Rick had a stoic look on his face as he looked over a file about the monsters. The two men had known each other for years, so Monger knew something was bothering Rick.
"What's on your mind Rick?" Asked Monger.
"I've been viewing your monster files and I'm just concerned about this whole team up. Your monsters are strong and have skills, but they have never gone on any missions or worked with other parties. Can they handle something like this?"said Rick.
"I understand your concern Rick. My team is made of fast learners, who can adapt and work well with others. Once I break the news to them and tell them that they'll be set free from my facility, they'll be absolutely eager to help and work with the Supers." Said Monger.
"Hard to believe your letting the monsters go free after all these years." Said Rick.
"Well I never really liked holding them in my facility to be honest. None of the monsters are evil and mean any harm to the human race. They were mainly captured and put away to keep from causing a panic. The world wasn't ready to know that monsters are real, but now we're facing an alien threat and the monsters have a shot of stopping it and showing the world they don't need to fear them." Said Monger.
"A pretty big goal. I approve of it." Said Rick.
"Thank you." Said Monger.
"Though I am concerned about the monster you call Ginormica. She's fairly new to being a monster and from what I understand she has zero combat training or experience. I don't like the idea of sending a 50 foot tall civilian to fight an alien war machine." Said Rick.
"Don't you worry about that. Will train Ginormica and she'll be ready to take on the challenge. She's one of the strongest monsters on the planet." Said Monger.
"Fine. So exactly how do you plan to train our teams to combat this robot?" Said Rick.
Monger reached into a binder he was carrying and handed a file to Rick. The agent took the file and scanned it, before looking back at the general raising an eyebrow.
"You know some of the Supers aren't going to like this." Said Rick.
"I know that, but it was short notice and it'll give them and the monsters the training they need." Said Monger.
"Good point." Said Rick.
"You gather up your Supers and head to my base to meet the monsters and to practice working together." Said Monger.
"Roger that." Said Rick.
The two men got in their helicopters and flew off.
Miles away in Californian, the probe slowly stomped along looking around at all the scenery as it looked for Susan and the Quantonium in her body. The probe was in no rush, since it believed nothing on the planet could harm or stop it.
Up in space miles away from Earth, Gallaxhar was aboard his ship going through digital files about Supers. Gallaxhar was making a list of Supers and the powers they possessed putting a checkmark next to Supers that interested him and could help him with a new phase he had planned for his clones. He already had a fair number of Supers on his list he planned to capture, when he came across one that captured his full attention. This particular Super had a large variety of powers and was incredibly young by human standards. Gallaxhar didn't need to capture several Supers, he just needed this one Super. With that in mind Gallaxhar began to make a new plan to capture the young multi powered Super.
Hours later in Metroville, Rick and his agency had gathered several Supers at the airport. There was Bob, Helen, Dash, Violet, Jack-Jack, Lucius A.k.a. Frozone, Brick, He-lectrix, Krushauer, Screech, Reflux, and Voyd. All the Supers had worked together a few times in the past and had shown that they were all very capable individuals. They all knew about the alien threat. Rick faced them and spoke.
"As you all know there is an alien robot rampaging across California. Military weapons and forces have been unable to stop it, so we're combing you and another team to face this threat and hopefully put a stop to it." Said Rick.
"Who's the other team?" Asked Helen.
"It isn't a team of super villains, is it?" Asked Bob with concern.
"No the other team you'll be working with is a group of monsters." Said Rick.
"Monsters?" Said Dash with excitement.
"Yes monsters. This team you'll be meeting and working alongside is made of monsters. They are all friendly and well behaved beings that I think you'll get along with." Said Rick.
The Supers exchanged looks not sure what to make of this news and development. Rick led them onto a large military plane that took off.
Miles away at Monger's base, Susan Murphy A.k.a Ginormica was carefully walking around the main hangout chamber for her and her fellow monsters. Susan's life had taken a very strange twist a little over a month ago. She had just been a ordinary women about to get married to a man named Derek, when she was struck by a meteor outside the church. Surprisingly the meteor didn't kill or really hurt Susan and it just vanished a little bit after it made contact with her. No one else at the wedding had noticed what happened and Susan had stumbled to her feet and had brushed it off as a weird hallucination created from stress. Susan got cleaned up and headed inside for the wedding. During the ceremony Susan's body had eyes had started to glow green, then she started rapidly growing and her brown hair had turned white.
Susan had grown until she burst out of the church. Thankfully her wedding dress had managed to stay in one piece, though it now had some rips and tears in it and was straining to contain the giant woman. The military arrived on the scene and tranquilized and captured Susan. An unknown amount of time later Susan woke up in a strange concrete room wearing a sleek, light blue agent jumpsuit, a black belt with a silver buckle, and white and orange-striped gray covered Converse sneakers. One of the walls lifted up to reveal a larger room and another wall pushed Susan out of the smaller room and into the much larger room. It was there Susan met the other monster inhabitants of the base, Insectosaurus, the Missing Link or Link for short, Dr. Cockroach, and B.O.B. Susan was initially fearful of her new companions and mind was still trying to process all the craziness that had happened to her.
Monger had entered the big chamber and gave Susan a little tour of the base explaining it's function of containing monsters to avoid a public panic. Because of Susan's massive growth she was now categorized as a monster and she was given the name Ginormica. Susan was shocked at the news since she would most likely spending the rest of her life in the base.
At first Susan spent the first few days of her stay crying in her room, but after some deep thinking and some nice kind words from her the other monsters she got over it and had a new goal. Susan was going to figure out how to return to her original size and return to her normal life and marry Derek. She let the base doctors and scientists, including Dr. Cockroach run test and experiments on her to try to figure out what made her grow and see if they could shrink her down, so far there had been no success, but Susan didn't lose hope. Susan tried meditation and yoga thinking that the power of her mind might be the key to her problem. She thought small thoughts, but her size did not change, though she was a lot calmer.
In the present Susan was still walking around the large room, when Monger entered the room in a jeep.
"Monsters the world needs your help to deal with a alien threat. You'll be working alongside a team of Supers and once you succeed in dealing with this threat, you will all be allowed to go free." Said Monger.
Susan and the other monsters were both shocked and thrilled by this news. Sure there was an alien threat and Susan hadn't returned to her normal size yet, but she and the others were going to be set free.
