Chapter 8 Training

After recovering from his initial shock at seeing the Omnidroid v.10, Mr. Incredible turned towards General Monger.
"What is the meaning of this?! Why is that thing?!" Demanded Mr. Incredible.
"You're going up against a giant dangerous robot that conventional military weapons are unable to stop, so we thought it was best for you train against a similar enemy. The Omnidroid was the quickest thing we could come up with on short notice." Said Monger.
"You do realize how dangerous this machine is? It's learning software nearly killed us!" Said Helen.
"We well aware of how dangerous the Omnidroid is, so I had my people remove a good chunk of that programming and dumb the robot down. We've also made sure to program the Omnidroid to subdue any attackers during training. As an added precaution we will be monitoring the training and if any thing goes seriously wrong the Omnidroid will be shut down." Said Monger.
This calmed Mr. Incredible and Helen down a little, but they were still weary about training with the Omnidroid.
"Alright let's get started! I'm going to turn that oversized tin can into a more dented tin can!" Declared Link cracking his knuckles.
The heroes and monsters entered the model city to begin the training.
"Begin." Called Monger on a bullhorn.
The Omnidroid began to move and the teams sprung into action. Link was the first to go at the robot. The Omnidroid saw the monster coming and tried to whack him with a swing from one of it's claw arms, but Link leaped right over the limb and began to run up it towards the main body. Link reached the main body and threw a punch at it. His fist met the metal body with a crack. A second later Link reeled back grasping his wounded hand.
"Aaaaaaa! What is this thing made of?!" Cried Link.
The Omnidroid swatted Link and sent him flying and crashing into Screech knocking him out of the air. Thankfully Helen quickly came to their aid by stretching her body out between some lamppost like a safety net and caught the falling monster and hero.
Brick decided to go next and rushed the Omnidroid and punched it knocking the big robot back and sending it crashing into a nearby building. The big hero smiled, but her smile quickly faded once the Omnidroid rose up looking completely undamaged. He-lectrix and Krushauer quickly came to Brick's aid and pounded the robot with their powers. At first it seemed like their powers had an affect on the Omnidroid, but it just pushed on through the onslaught and knocked the three heroes away with a swing of one of it's claw arms. The remaining heroes and monsters took cover behind some of the fake buildings. Susan had to squat down in order to hide.
"Dang! Even without all those learning programs, that robot is making quick work of us!" Muttered Frozone.
"I suppose now would be a bad time to mention that I have never been in a fight before." Said Susan looking nervous.
"A very remarkable machine. I take it from your outburst from earlier, that some of you have faced it before?" Said Dr. Cockroach.
"We have." Said Helen.
"How did you beat it before?" Asked Dr. Cockroach.
"Long story short, we pierced it with one of it's own claws. Though I don't think that'll work again in this case, because one of the claws was already removed and we had a remote for that claw that came in real handy." Said Mr. Incredible.
"I see. Well from what I have seen and from what you have told me the armor on that robot is a super alloy of some kind that won't break under normal circumstances." Said Dr. Cockroach.
"So what should we do?" Asked Frozone.
"Well it's quite possible that the armor can be weakened with extreme and constant shifts in temperature. I believe Reflux and Frozone can help us with that." Said Dr. Cockroach.
"I don't think the robot's just going to let us do that." Said Dash.
"True. If we want to beat this thing, we're going have to work together. The majority of us will keep the robot busy and distracted, while Reflux and Frozone do their thing and weaken the armor." Said Helen.
"I'll try to help." Said a nervous Susan.
With a plan made the team stepped out from their cover. The Omnidroid saw them and went into it's ball form and rolled towards them. Susan took a deep breath and stuck her hands out to stop the oncoming robot. She braced her body as the Omnidroid hit her hands. Susan skidded a couple of feet back, but she stopped the robot.
"I stopped it." Said Susan in awe by her own strength.
Susan wasn't sure what to do next.
"Try picking it up and tossing it." Said Mr. Incredible.
Susan got a good grip on the Omnidroid and picked it up. The Omnidroid stuck it's limbs out and tried to attack Susan. Susan let out a startled cry before she tossed the Omnidroid away and sent it crashing into another building. The Omnidroid quickly recovered and sprang back up. It then grabbed Susan by the front of her uniform and threw her to the ground. The other heroes and monsters and sprang into action. Mr. Incredible and the other heroes and monsters attacked and kept the Omnidroid distracted, while Voyd used her powers to get Reflux and Frozone close to the robot so they could use their powers to weaken the the armor. Susan recovered and decided to join in. She charged forward and delivered a powerful punch to the weakened area of the Omnidroid's armor causing it to crumple inwards and reel back. The Omnidroid tried to retaliate by grabbing Susan with one of it's claws, but this time Susan grabbed the limb and using her own great super strength, she wrestled the limb and stabbed the claw into the Omnidroid's face!
The Omnidroid sputtered and sparked, before it collapsed to the ground. The robot had been defeated. Susan looked down at the defeated Omnidroid and then she stared at her own hands in amazement. She couldn't believe what she just did. Susan had defeated a powerful and dangerous robot with her bare hands! Never in her wildest dreams did Susan ever picture herself doing this. It was rather exciting and Susan felt empowered.
The other heroes and monsters cheered and congratulated Susan. All except Brick, who just glared at Susan with jealousy. Susan just smiled and gave a thumbs up. Monger just looked at the scene and smiled.
"They're ready to take on the real threat." Said Monger to himself.
The training had been a complete success.
