Chapter 16 Cleanup

Cleanup was well underway in San Francisco. There was a lot of damage to fix especially the Golden Gate Bridge. Thousands of construction workers had been called in along with various humanitarian organization workers and a few supers were on the scene helping out where they could. The Monsters then arrived on the scene to give a helping hand. Both Susan and Insectosaurus used their large heights and strengths to move collapsed buildings in and rumble from the streets, Dr. Cockroach used his brilliant creative mind to build tools that helped with sawing and weld, and B.O.B and Link helped move some rumble and smashed cars.
News crews arrived on the scene to cover the story and interview people cleaning up, including Derek Dietl. Derek saw this as a golden opportunity to show the world his relationship with Susan as well as begin his own climb to fame and fortune. Derek and his camera crew located Susan and made their way towards her. Susan's eyes went wide with surprise and delight as she saw Derek and Derek put on a big smile for Susan and the camera.
"Derek! Oh I missed you so much!" Said Susan as she squatted down to look at Derek.
"And I'm so glad to see you as well Susan. You're even more beautiful then I remember." Said Derek.
"Aaa and you're so sweet and handsome." Said Susan.
"So as a former weatherman I have to ask you a question." Said Derek.
"What's that?" Asked Susan.
"How is the weather up there?" Asked Derek.
Susan blinked her eyes and then she let out a little chuckle, before answering.
"The weather here is a nice seventy degrees with some cloud coverage coming in."
"Good to hear. Let's all giving this superhero a big hand. She's a real sweetheart with a good sense of humor." Said Derek to some workers watching.
The workers all began to clap and cheer and Susan smiled and waved.
"I have to cover some other bits around here, but I promise to come back to talk some more and meet the heroes who saved the world." Said Derek to Susan.
"Ok. Love you Derek." Said Susan.
"Love you too Susan." Said Derek as he and his camera crew walked off.
Derek smiled to himself. Susan still loved him and that made Susan putty in Derek's hands. The skies were the limit for where Derek could go with this new fame he would earn.
