Chapter 23 Breakup

Derek crawled out from under the table he had hid under during the fight as Susan approached him.
"Hey Derek, are you alright?" Asked Susan.
Derek took a deep breath before he looked up at Susan.
"No I'm not alright! I was taken hostage by a crazed super villain and our wedding was ruined again!"
"Yeah. Look we can probably find a real priest or someone to wed us and then we can do this. This is all be a funny crazy memory in a few years." Said Susan trying to cheer Derek.
"We're canceling. The wedding is off." Said Derek.
"Derek?" Said Susan.
"Susan I like you, but this is the second time we tried to get married and it ended in disaster. First you got hit by a meteorite that turned you into a giant destroying the church and you got captured by the military and then our wedding got attacked by super villains and I was taken hostage. I could have died!" Said Derek.
"I know, but you're safe now." Said Susan.
"For now anyway, but that whole situation made me realized that we can't have a normal life and I would be in constant danger due to your status as a hero. Villains would come after me to take me hostage to get at you and I don't think deal with that kind of craziness! Your a magnet for trouble Susan." Said Derek.
"We can still make this work, once the scientist figure out a way to shrink me down, I'll quit being a hero, dye my hair, and get a normal job. Just please don't go." Said Susan as her eyes watered a little.
"I'm sorry Susan, but I'm breaking up with you." Said Derek before he turned and walked away.
"Derek!" Cried Susan as large tears fell from her eyes.
The wedding had been a complete disaster and now Susan's love life had fallen to pieces.
